I'm looking for a new road bicycle frame and just happened into Veloholic Cycles. Inside I discovered they carry Italian custom road frames built to size! Looking at the show frames I quickly noticed all the beautiful frames that were very well designed with high attention to details. I had a few questions that were quickly answered; such as specifying custom braze-ons and road bicycle mechanical services. I love Italian frames! I raced on Haral (steel frames designed in/for the Dolomite Mountains) which were popular AND highly discounted for my race team of great climbers that were used by all of us during the 1988 Olympic Trials, provincial/national championships, and international trips. Later, I was given a Masi ultralight frames after turning professional. I raced on both for thousands of kilometers and over many mountains in my career with MAVIC components from my sponser. The difference between Italian frames and local designs is simple to understand; there are simply far more Italian riders on Italian frames than Canadians on Canadian frames. I love buying local but a good local frame is usually strictly designed for either relaxed for road racing or tight for criteriums and very expensive especially when riders like myself went thru one frame every year! A good average Italian frame is designed for all kinds of races, is about average price, and meant to be ridden every day. Why? Racers/good riders in Italy will pick an average but well designed frame to ride hard 365 days a year and get another reasonably priced good frame next year. Yes, you can find specialist road, mountain, and criterium frame designs in Italy too but an average good frame can do it all. Here in Vancouver/Canada most racers/riders expect their frames to last more than a year OR they have a cheaper relaxrd training ride and an expensive tight race ride. These are mistakes; I easily participated in 190 races every year equal to 300 hours or ≈12,000km of road racing while riding at least 800 hours or ≈25,000km/year. Using a training and race bicycle as two different bikes, one cheaper and one highend is just wrong as training should = racing conditions right down to the frame while most of my serious crashes that required frame straightening happened in races not training. While training on a cheaper frame leads to silly and BAD habits that will destroy a fancy light frame a cheaper heavier frame would absorb. Get one frame with comfortable angles that can do it all, save you money, and have a better chance at success. I love riding. I love road bicycles. Everything in Veloholic seemed to show they understand this!
I first stumbled across the store two and a half years ago and was fascinated when I walked in. They had products in stock which I had only ever seen on forums and in YouTube "Top 5 Dream (insert bike part)" videos. In the beginning I had no intention of ever buying parts from them as I previously deemed those parts indulgent and unnecessary. After many visits for service and small parts, I began to appreciate it all. Phil meticulously works on every bike that goes through the shop and doesn't settle for doing things the wrong way for the sake of time. I began to see the details that go into the parts and processes which he uses. This year I finally decided I would purchase a bike from them. Phil and Peter were very helpful throughout the process. They explained the differences of the brands they carried and what made each of them special. I ended up buying a Sarto Asola and they also helped me pick out the small parts and components to finish off my dream bike. I could not be more happy with the results. Thank you Phil and Peter for all your time and effort in helping me cultivate my love for bikes :)
My riding friends introduced me to Veloholics. I was so impressed with their workmanship and attention to detail, I wouldn’t trust anyone else with my high valued bicycles. This is a family run business and takes a lot of pride in everything they do. I find their work to be extremely reliable with a quick turn around time. I loved them so much I had them build my last bicycle. The build process was second to none with timely updates, fully explained recommendations and ensuring I was always included in the decision making. During this build I visited the shop frequently and saw up close the teams’ second to none customer service. They always have time for every customer who walks through the door and is extremely honest, never trying to upsell or deceive. All the parts and bikes are very high end so you get what you pay for. I am now a loyal customer and will always give them my business, even over online.
I needed a new chain but didn't have the tools to put it on myself. They were kind enough to do it for me without an appointment. I figured they'd just snap the old chain off and slap on the new one, but the mechanic also indexed my gears for me while I waited. You might be able to find this service elsewhere, but how many of those places are going to treat your bike with respect? My bike is not fancy, but still it was treated with respect. They just love bikes here. You can really tell. This was not my first time at Veloholic. I bought my first cycling shoes here, and after my first crash, Annie worked tirelessly to help me replace them. They also carry Cafe Du Cycliste and lots of other posh cycling goodies.
Veloholics is my goto for any bike stuff I need. They are like family …well almost! everyone there is friendly and welcoming. It doesn’t matter what you are in for, buying bike accessories or getting some work done. And when I need something Peter is always there to reply back even if sometimes just shopping around for prices. They are very helpful even for little things like a quick check on a shifting issue or stuck on a part that I am trying to install. I love working on my own bike but sometimes you need that kind of touch of service from Phil and Peter just to make you feel confident that everything is in tip top shape. They are the best! Hint: start getting bar tape service
Veloholic is a fitting name for this store. The shop owners who run it live and breathe road bikes. Phil is a master mechanic. He is extremely detail oriented and offers excellent advice. You can rest assured your bike will be treated with the utmost care. Peter, who deals with customers is also very knowledgeable when it comes to giving you the best possible solution to your problems. He never up-sells, and you don't need to have a fancy bike to ask for help. However, they do specialize mostly in road bikes. He will work with you on your budget and give you full transparency. He has a lot of patience with people with dummies like me when it comes to explaining how things work.
Since 2006 I spent close to $40 000 on buying and servicing 2 bikes . Most recent purchase one was a nightmare …. So when the time came to service my Chris King hubs on my Enve's I had an option to send the wheels back to Enve , but I decided to contact Enve and they gave me Veloholics' ph. number . Had no idea that there was such store in Vancouver /B.C./ . Went in and spoke with Phil , very professional and expert approach . Work was done to the highest standard , for the first time …. If you have any bike but especially something pretty expensive these are the guys . If Chris King recommends them than they must be doing something right . Thanx guys . Andy
The day I moved from Toronto to Vancouver, I went in search of a local bike shop and WOW! Did I ever get lucky moving into this neighbourhood! Phil and Peter of Veloholic were very quick to give me a warm welcome to Vancouver and to the Veloholic family. Their beautiful bike shop carries some of the nicest bikes and components you've ever seen. Their service and attention to detail is the best you will ever find. Such an awesome friendly vibe. No pressure to ever buy anything. No attitude towards all levels of bikes. So glad I found you guys. You guys truly eat, sleep and breathe bikes! Thank you
It's the small things that matter. I recently got a frameset built and put together with an electronic Di2 groupset from Veloholic Cycles. Today I was going to program the hidden shifter buttons to work with my Wahoo head unit and to my surprise the shop already configured the shifters and the wireless unit from the default configuration. It goes to show they really pay attention to the details whether big or small. Service was great throughout the entire build and there's zero pressure so you don't feel like you're being sold and upsold to. Highly recommended
Veloholic is probably among one of the best bike shops in the world that I have visited although it’s a tiny boutique two men shop. The owner/mechanic is very meticulous about his work and always looking for improvement. No expensive has spared on all the tools and equipment for servicing the bicycles that even includes all the grease, lube and degreaser. This shop probably does the finest work in town. However, the turnaround time is quite a bit longer than others and don’t expect they can fix your bike right away.
A boutique bike shop with interesting products and exceptional service. Phil and Peter are honest and has great depth of knowledge in their products and servicing. They are cyclist and are passionate about getting people to ride their bikes. Never felt pressured into buying or doing unnecessary upgrades/service. Even if you are not in the market for an custom Italian bike frame or ultra high efficient ceramic bearings, just go in and have a look, there is no snobbish attitude in this place.
Phil and Peter were fabulous! They were completely honest about the condition of my bike. They gave me several options to upgrade as well. From low to high. Two very easy guys to talk to with no pressure to buy the best even though you have a mid range bike. Also they worked late after hours just to finish my bike and called me to pick it up! Best shop in the lower mainland by far! Nobody comes close. Tired of all the attitude and shitty mechanic work out there.
As I have tried to service my bike with veloholic for the first time from the recommendation of TLD CC, Peter has demonstrated great customer service attitude and attention to details when servicing the bike. The shop has a high standard of quality and work hard to deliver the best experience to me as a customer. Thanks to Peter for spending extra time doing research on my aftermarket parts and thanks for the service that gives me the feeling of a new bike.
Very high end shop not only because of the quality of bikes they carry, but even more so for the quality of their work and their terrific attitude. I arrived in town for a race with a damaged bike and they stayed open just to rebuild my bike so I could race the next day. The quality of the work was outstanding down to the last detail. As a result, I was able to qualify for next year's world championship event in Vancouver!
By far my favorite local bike shop and the only mechanics I would trust with my bike. Awesome collection of Italian frames to drool over while you wait. Breadth of of boutique brands like Attaquer which are not available elsewhere. Great owners who are riders themselves! Their passion and encouragement have gotten me riding way more than I would have otherwise. Love coming here and getting my bike taken care of!
my friend Arnold brought my bike in for me after I crash it with out an appointment. they checked it out if there were damages and install the new group set for me . when it came back it was better than new it was wax, clean and smooth as silk, love the little detail they did for the bike even though it was not an expensive bike. The turn round time was awesome so I can get back to biking good job guys
Great service. Found this shop online by chance and was impressed by their website and Facebook page. Made a shipping order to Ontario and the people at the shop were super helpful with questions I had. Also, prices were actually cheaper than where I was looking in Ontario, even with shipping added in. Will be ordering again from this shop in the near future.
Lucky to have found Assioma-Shi power meters in town. Staff were very friendly helping a newb (me) get some essentials for road biking. Will look to the shop again for unique items (like various Tubolito sizes and Shimano tools) that some other shops may not carry. Not all their stock is on the website so best to email them to see if they got it.
I travel over a 40 minutes by car to get my bike serviced by these guys. I literally drive by 6 top bicycle shops in Vancouver to have my bike serviced by them. It's such a pleasure to deal with the owners of a shop who are so knowledgeable and passionate about the sport. I can't say enough good things about my experience dealing with them.
I have been to veloholic cycles a couple times now for general maintenance, upgrades, and tune ups. I cannot recommend them enough. Peter is super knowledgeable and always willing to go out of his way to provide top notch customer service. I have left very happy and satisfied each time. Can’t recommend the crew here enough!
Visit the store September 3 because of good rating posted. Guy working on a bike at the door greeted me with yep, seemed uninterested, I SD excuse me and he SD again yep. Finally I asked are you asking to help me. He SD yes then SD didn't do my kind of bike. This was not a welcoming place so I don't recommend it.
Inquired about stock levels on a pair of sunglasses. Phil got back to me within an hour and told he reached out to the manufacturer for a timeline which was spot on. An email was sent when it was back in stock, shipped extremely fast. Awesome experience and will definitely buy from them again in the future.
Unreal selection, even better customer service. Called them and they were super helpful, went into the store to pickup and they were polite, knowledgeable and attentive. Can't wait to put my new matching supacaz bottle cages and bar tape on the bike and make my friends jealous! Thanks Phil & Peter!
I was having trouble removing my bike pedal at home with a wrench. I shamelessly went into the shop to ask for some assistance and the two gentlemen were happy to help me out even though I wasn't a paying customer. They were so kind! I would definitely recommend this shop to other cyclists.
Had my gravel bike serviced by Veloholics recently. Amazing service and overall attention to detail. They treat every bike that comes in the shop as if it is their own, and they answer all of your questions with courtesy and professionalism. Amazing job, Veloholics!!!
Favorite Bike Store in Canada. Every single time I go, they give me the best attention and the store has everything you need for road bikes and some gravel gear. They also have some rare bikes in there, so in a sense, it's like a cycling showroom
Amazing people!!! Super knowledgeable tech %100 satisfaction %100 guarantee. Thanks guys for sharing your passion in cycling through the community. Keep up the excellent workmanship.... …
If you love riding, you'll have a hard time leaving this shop. Bike Porn is best to describe this place! Amazing Italian bike frames, full highend components and fully knowledgeable, friendly owners to fine tune your ride.
Boutique bike shop. Very knowledgeable and helpful staff. Great stock of elite cycling essentials. Mechanic with OCD level attention to details. Great place that I won't hesitate to recommend to fellow cyclists.
Phil and Peter are absolute masters at what they do. They helped me build a bike from scratch for a resonable price after I broke my previous one in a crash. Thanks for the lightning fast ride guys …
My go to Bike shop for a Veloholic like me. Been to many shops in Vancouver, spent lots and they don't care about your business. All I can say, every time I'm here at Veloholic, it feels like home.
Great service both over the phone and in the shop. If you appreciate quality products, good product knowledge and friendly service this is a place you will be interested in visiting.
