I felt very unwelcome from the moment I went in here. There were two ladies at the counter and one of them looked at me disdainfully. I felt like I needed to give her an explanation for why I was there so I tried to engage her by mentioning what sort of wine I was looking for. The other lady was a lot friendlier, she went on to show me a bottle as she explained what they do have. The unpleasant lady who I believe was the owner or manager, shook her head at her and had the nerve to say "the price" and then eye me suspiciously. I'm always nicely dressed and presentable everywhere I go, so I knew this was a race thing. I hadn't even mentioned anything about a budget. I felt unwelcome but still asked about wine from Quebec and the unpleasant lady said they didn't have any, so I left. If you are a person of color, beware of being treated disrespectfully when you go here! (Btw, I have traveled extensively to literally every continent and for someone to treat me like I am something beneath their shoe is just unacceptable). I visited last week and finally decided to write this review.

I don't like wine all that much. Despite this fact I am known as someone who typically brings a nice bottle to dinners and gatherings, and that's solely due to the Vine Arts staff. Their recommendations have consistently been fantastic, and if you want some help in deciding what to bring to an event, or just want to try a new wine yourself, I would happily recommend coming here. I do, however, like beer. Their selection of craft beers is not as big as some of the larger stores in the city, but everything they stock tends to be very good, and the staff are also typically great at recommending a new one to try. If you like dark beer and IPA, the selection is skewed in your favour. They also seem to rotate out pretty often, so it's often worth popping in to see if something catches your attention. They also stock beer on tap to fill a growler (of which their are two sizes). This is typically somewhat local, and has led to me finding some absolutely fantastic crafts.

Both VineArts locations are very out of the way for me, so I don’t often make it into the store, but I will be making the effort in the future. The other day I purchased a bottle of wine from them, and while walking back to my car the bag they had given me broke, and the bottle shattered. I called them the next morning, asking if there was possibly anything they could do - and they replaced the bottle no questions asked, I was so pleasantly surprised. That experience coupled with their unmatched wine selection means I will definitely be going out of my way to come in more regularly.

This is my favorite store in Calgary when I'm looking for a nice, and generally inexpensive bottle of wine. I recommend talking with the staff, as they are always very knowledgeable and friendly, and are great at recommending a different bottle each time I'm in, for whatever Im in the mood for. I believe it's all a rotating selection of wine, and every bottle I've bought from Vine Arts is always enjoyable. There's a great selection of bottles in the 20-30$ range. Highly recommend this store if you're a wine lover. They do have a smaller selection of liquor and beer also.

Best Wine store in the city in my opinion. Not necessarily will they have what you are looking for, but they will have suggestions of really cool different things in all price points. They will be honest with you without being pretentious, ie. you will not find a good Bordeaux for 20 bucks, or even a good oaked Chardonnay on that note. (It'll be oak chips instead, and that is hence why people don't like shitty Chardonnay). Staff is spectacular and knowledgeable, and the wine tastings are phenomenal. i don't have enough good things to say about this place.

BEST wine boutique in Calgary, BY FAR. Staff are always friendly-- I am always made to feel like I'm going over to a friend's house. The staff get to know you, and I usually let them know what I'm cooking and they have never missed the mark when it comes to finding the perfect pairing for the price point given. Some incredible wines for the value. I've only had one corked bottle of wine that I've had to take back, and they were happy to replace it with another. Always amazing service and great selection for every price point.

Amazing and helpful staff. I've never walked in and not be asked if I need help - and not in a bothersome way! Personalised recommendations. They have a system to track what you buy so of you forget a fav wine you had a couple months ago, they can look it up. Always something new on tap for growlers. Only critique is that the beer especially is extremely overpriced. It is worth it though for the hard to find beers that they have that I often can't find elsewhere.

Great selection. Friendly, knowledgeable, professional, and accommodating staff. Love shopping at the Vine Arts Victoria Park location. The in-store experience is always pleasant. They are very helpful via email and phone orders too plus offer delivery services. Whether you know what you are looking for or are seeking recommendations, this Vine Arts location will look after you. Their gift wrapping and reusable bags are great too! Highly recommend!

I just attended The Garden of France wine tasting at Vine Arts, presented by Klaire McCallum. It was fantastic. I have attended a. number of wine tastings at Vine Arts and have always enjoyed them. We've been missing in-person wine tastings so much and this was a perfect re-introduction. Klaire is extremely knowledgeable and very warm in her presentation. Thanks for all the yummy Loire Valley choices....and for the fun surprise at the end!

Staff are very friendly and knowledgeable. Don't buy the things you can find at common liquor stores, they're going to be a little pricier here. However they have a ton of neat things you'll have trouble finding anywhere else. And they offer tastings on a lot of items. If you like cool spirits, you'll remember what it's like to be a kid in a candy store. Except now your parents aren't holding you back.

I go here primarily for beer so I can't vouch for their wine and spirits, though those look to be well worth coming in for. Vine Arts goes for quality over quantity in their beer selection. While they have a few 6-packs their key offering is single-serve beer. The staff are knowledgable and always willing to chat about the selection and want to make sure you get the best beer for you.

Decent selection of wine but this new trend of categorizing wine by vague descriptive words instead of by country just feels like a way to sell overpriced wine to people who don’t really know what they are buying. I just want a South Australian GSM, it should be fairly straight forward to find instead of trying to guess if it’s “sexy and smooth” or “romantic with a hint of fruit”

Katie and her staff are wonderful. After a panicked version of myself spoke with her over the phone and and later came by in person, it became very obvious to me they chose to concern themselves with more than just a sale. They care about their craft and they care about their customers. The knowledgeable and friendly service really makes a noticeable difference.

Amazing selection of wine and phenomenal service. The lady that helped us was so friendly and highly knowledgeable. She’s taking her WSET 4 and it shows. Coming from Jasper, AB, it’s nice to go to a wine store with this diverse selection. They bring in a lot of hidden gems from around the world. Highly recommend coming here or their other location.

I have been in this store a few times and have always found the staff really great! I purchased a bottle of wine online as a gift for a friend this week. minutes after my purchase Katie contacted me asking if I wanted to include a note with the wine. My friend sent me a photo of the wine all wrapped up so nicely. Great customer service!!!

I always come out happy with what I have and excited having learned more about the wine or spirit it and it’s origin story.

Every time I need some good booze this is the place to go. Great selection, the staff really know their stuff and the prices are still good. And they don’t mind helping you figure out what you need to recreate that one drink you think you know how to make from that one time in Mexico that was awesome

Amazing selection of wines. There’s a delicious option at every price range. The staff there are as nice as they are knowledgeable. Once, they didn’t have one of my favourite craft beers in stock and said they would order it. On my very next visit it was ready and waiting in large quantities. 10/10!

Fanastic liquor store for niche products. Staff are super helpful, always willing to offer samples and make suggestions. They also sell really affordable barware and other products like bitters, tools, wine and bar supplies. Perfect for that special alcohol you can't get anywhere else.

Such an incredible selection of curated wines. I absolutely love that the wines are curated by taste profile rather than country if origin as this has helped me try and find some new favourites. The team are also really helpful and approachable. Parking is never hard to find.

Fun wine layout by style vs country, unique selection of vodka, gin and other clear liqours and a selection of scotchs you won't see in many places. Also, the best Bitters selection I have seen anywhere. There is now a selection of micro brewery beers available.

Super friendly staff who have lots of recommendations. Stumbled on a free wine tasting Friday afternoon and ended up getting two of the featured bottles. As the name suggests, lots of wine and spirits. Cooler in the back with small beer and cooler selection.
