This is such a great nature park. My 5- and 7-year olds love it but it’s perfect for younger kids, too. My oldest said it made her feel “calm being in nature.” The playground has a water feature, slide, rope swing, and lots of stuff to climb. There was a birthday party happening on the picnic tables when we were there but there were plenty of places to sit. The giant sequoias are a big plus! We also loved meeting the super friendly dogs in the park.
Playground
Natural with lots of old tree trunks and rocks to climb on. A water feature with sand, too, is a big hit with the kids. There is a slide and a rope swing, too.
Dog-friendliness
There were plenty of friendly dogs at the park and their responsible owners.
Picnic area
There are picnic tables, a few of which were being used for a birthday party when we were there.

Although this a great nature park for kids, please be warned that the pictures online are better than the park itself. It seems from reviews that a lot of amenities are only available in summer. That might be the reason why I felt a little cheated because we went in February. But it was still a very fun park. Natural climbing structures and slides (may not be too suitable for toddlers though). A big sand pit. A shady area near the playground with gigantic trees. a nice little pond with ducks wading around. I could see restrooms nearby too. There is plenty of street parking in the residential area next to the park.

If you love ducks, geese and other water-dwelling critters, I could not more enthusiastically suggest a better place. There's a trail of bridges through a marsh area that provides a ton of photograph-worthy entertainment. There's also plenty of grass for your dogs, kids, or a picnic. There's a clubhouse and several courts for playing tennis or baseball. The reservoir is pretty peaceful to sit and directly next to it is a play area that's all natural and very cool. A ton of geese flew over while I was there and landed in the ballpark. This place is awesome

Great park for kids of all ages. Went this time for a birthday party and it was a great location. The park is much bigger than I originally realized. The kids loved the water feature in the playground. Glad they got it fixed!
Playground
Really cool pretty natural playground. With climbing, sand, and a pump based water feature.
Restrooms
Restrooms located near playground. They were decently clean for a park.
Picnic area
Went for a birthday party and the family booked a nice secluded picnic area in the park. Was perfect for the party.

A great local resource for exercising, family events, sports field events and just walking or biking , located in a busier residential area bordering on a major Portland area thoroughfare. The Crystal Springs creeks runs through and adjacent to this complex and connect this park to other parks and green spaces along this creek. It's cool to see this Crystal Springs creek and the parks along this creek as a viable mini waterway within an increasingly busy metroplex area. Ducks, geese, fish , birds and people all benefit from this flowing habitat.

An essential part of my weekend - I love walking around the park rain or shine, there is always lots of stuff going on between kids playing and the local wildlife hanging out in the pond and the creek. Any time the weather is nice there are lots of bikes, roller skates and small children around so dogs should be on leash and well behaved. I love walking around the boardwalks and have seen tons of wildlife throughout the year. Dragonflies, many species of ducks, turtles and evidence of beavers.

Amazing nature Park for the kids and not very good for the dogs. The water area, tree climbing section and all around beauty make this place a10 start if they had that many. Some of the adults needs to learn the manners I am teaching my kids but they did not detract from our many experiences here. It is a must see for the kids in Fall and summer. Winter is great if it is dry.

Probably the prettiest park in all of Portland, Westmoreland Park is great for walking, birdwatching, or taking the kids outdoors. Crystal Springs Creek flows through the park and there’s nice bridges across it. A three foot deep casting pond (drained in winter) is at the southern end of the park. The pond was built by the Works Progress Administration in the 1930s.

This park is incredible... Everything is very natural looking with trails and trees. Tons of space for activities and has baseball fields and a giant duck pond.. a cute kids play area... but my favorite thing about this park is the amount of pokestops and gyms for Pokemon GO. It is the main reason I come here... Stop by and take a lap to catch some Pokemon

Great idea to turn grass into a nature area. The creek was teaming with birdlife, and there are several quiet decks to walk out on over the wetlands. So far it seems like the transient population is staying to the far east side of the park in vans and cars in the parking lot so the nature area might not be impacted too much.

What an awesome park!!! We live close by and have never stopped so today we did!!! Very unique. Lots of nature and a very cool playground area. We will be frequenting this place this summer!!! I do wish I knew what type of trees are those outlining the lake part of the park??? Some sort of Fir?? Very beautiful!!!

Really nice park, great place for the kids to play or walk a dog. A word of warning - if your kids are on the "play structure", watch out for splinters. Probably best if they don't try and slide on any of the logs. Also, probably not a very safe play area when it's wet since the logs will be slick.

  • LearningByNature

Learning By Nature approved! This is a tremendous park offering something fun for everyone- which from a playground design perspective speaks to the commitment the City has to providing engaging, sustainable and accessible play for the community. Truly a destination park. Congratulations Portland!

  • Brandon Oxton

This park was awesome! We love that it had all kinds of natural things to climb and explore, from the rocks to the logs. Our 3 year old had so much fun running around and climbing all the different things. The sand area with all the toys was awesome too. Wish we had something like this in Texas.

  • Dana Danger

Bring your kids to play in nature. Great playground, plus the most amazing trees!
Playground
Nature playground, sand play, trees to climb, boulders to scale. Our favorite playground in town.
Picnic area
Great set up for a birthday party. 3 big tables together in the shade.

  • Alesya family

What an awesome playground! Love how clean the Playground is. This park has sand area, and water fountain for the kids to play with. The logs and rocks are so much fun for all ages to climb on, under and around. This park encourage children to play creatively and connect with nature.

I love this little park. I walk my dogs here, but I really come to see & watch the many varieties of water foul and song birds that visit the wetland. Nutria and beaver can also be found here. It's a lovely little nature getaway inside the city. I only wish it were bigger.

  • Milissa Mcclane

The sand pit was fun, The kids really enjoyed the rock formations to climb on there were lots of geese but the park was very clean, lots of room for the adults to sit, will definitely be coming back in the summer when the water is on to play in the sand.

Portland Royal Rosarians teamed up with Alpenrose Dairy, Portland Parks Dept and many many volunteers to delight in The Westmoreland MILK CARTON BOAT RACE. WHAT A THRILL. YES IT WAS HOT ..... but after the pandemic we enjoyed a magical day. Bravo!

  • Maria Antonieta Navarro

I loved this park! The big trees are so beautiful and provide shade to play underneath them. There's a big soccer field too. The creek and the ducks or geese is just a relaxing place to be. Feels very safe too. Bathrooms are in great shape.

  • Christopher Hercules

10/10 park! Plenty of shady trees, a nice little fountain, and a couple nature trails/athletics areas. Also real good for Pokemon Go if you like that game. My dog approves!
Dog-friendliness
Plenty of room for dogs to run around!

  • Amanda Isberg

This might be my favorite park in Portland. My 3 year old did not want to leave. I love that they use natural rocks and logs to form many climbing structures. My son adored the sand pit (we visited late July) with the water pumps. So fun!

  • Robert P

If you haven't been to Westmoreland Park for a while, you'll love the new look. It's more like a garden now and there is more wildlife because of all of the reclaimed natural areas. The new natural style children's play area is much more

  • John “Toby” Nelson

Great place for a game, didn't play yesterday but did catch up with some friends and threw the football around. The park is still looking good though the neighborhood seems to have fallen on some rough times. Lots of ghost cars and junk.

  • Christopher McKillop

Cool place. You can do laps around the perimeter. There is a pedestrian bridge at the north end near Bybee, and a sidewalk on the bridge at the south end. Sometimes you'll see nutria and heron in the water. Peaceful place. Campers are

My wife, granddaughter and I went to a great Ukanian festival at Westmoreland. We had a great time. I also saw some competition soccer and frisbee being played. They have a fairly large parking area to support all of these events.

  • Ken Coenen

Apparently adult kickball is alive and well in Portland! Visited Westmoreland Park to watch my son's team in a playoff game (they won). Enjoyed the experience and the park is quite interesting and has a lot of stuff going on!

  • Julia Howells

I love this park. This is truly a natural playground that is off the road so you aren’t near car traffic and has restrooms, a water fountain, water / sand pit, natural play structures, etc. This was a big hit for my people!

  • Brendan

This park offers the opportunity for kids to use their imaginations, move objects, and be in nature. The play area is full of natural play structures such as rocks, logs, and sandy river beds. A must try for all families.

  • Gustavo Ferrari

Excelente park for outdoor kiddos and parentes whom don't care too much about security lol.... Some good três to climb, sand park with toys, slide, beautiful view. A creative and very Oregon spirit imprint on this park..

  • Michelle Lassen

A lovely escape when I need a bit of nature. There's always something new to see and discover. The highlights of today's trip were baby ducklings, a turtle basking on a log, and an enormous nutria paddling upstream.

  • Kiran Chowdary

  • Harry Culp

A Wonderful experience for the whole family. My 4 year old son and his 6 year old cousin had a great time climbing on the rocks and logs. We had a lovely pickup at the tables. We will be Be back soon.

  • Eric Eisberg

The nature themed playground with logs and rocks is great for kids of all ages. It can get a little busy but that's NBD in my book. The rest of it is pretty too. Very child-oriented.

  • Alex Ellefson

This playground is so fun and there is so much natural beauty all around this park. We love walking on the boardwalk to see the animals as much as we like playing on the playground.

  • Theresa Lowery

Came for the Alpen Rose milk carton boat races. Great park. Lots of room for the kiddos to play. Casting pond and paths for walking or biking. Saw baby ducks and a muscrat too!

Nice urban park along Johnson Creek in Portland. Enjoyed the catwalk over the marshland where we enjoyed the antics of mallard ducks and the fall colors.
