Let me preface this by saying that a Groupon was used to make the purchase, although I think that shouldn't make a difference in quality of product or customer care. I'm visiting from out of town and my friend raved about their Princess Torte, so we called ahead and picked one up, only to find out it was completely frozen inside. I'm not a pastry chef, but I wouldn't necessarily think freezing genoise after frosting it would be great. And it should have definitely been communicated that we were getting a premade, frozen, unthawed cake as we picked it up, preferably when we called to ask if they had it. I'm sure it will taste fine once it thaws, as this is apparently standard practice for them (of which a pretty rude employee just informed me over the phone), but it's not something I would try again. Since it was a Groupon deal, I didn't request any kind of compensation or consolation from them, but I did call and very nicely asked why it was frozen, and the person I spoke to just gave me monosyllabic responses without even saying "sorry" or "whoops." Just a "Yea... That's how they come." Sorry, but a drive for a $48 frozen cake should elicit a little more curtesy if nothing else.

If I could I would give zero stars. I ordered a cake on Thursday to be picked up on Saturday. Paid for the cake & even emailed back and forth in reference to what I wanted. Go to pick the cake up and they tell us “sorry we missed it, this happens” excuse me what do you mean this happens? If this is an ongoing issue don’t you think you should find a solution. So they refund the cake and send us with a plain marble cake. Don’t offer to write on it or anything. So I’m suppose to show up with a plain cake that says absolutely nothing. I give them a call to speak to the managers the guy that answers says there are no managers working right now and took my information to give me a call back seeing as how I figured they should still make the cake I originally ordered and bought. Not sure why they took my info and said they would give me a call cause they never did but then again they didn’t even make the cake o ordered and paid for so I guess I should of never expected a call back anyway. If anyone is reading this please place your orders with “the cake box” better customer service & the design and taste of the cakes are better overall.

I have loved having Wuollet's cupcakes and cakes at every birthday party and family celebration for the past 10+ years. They have reliably been a special treat for many occasions. That's why I chose to buy their cupcakes for our Mother's Day party. When I picked up my order yesterday, I saw that the cupcakes are about half the size they used to be. Nothing special at all, so unlike what they used to be. They looked like cupcakes I could make with a baking mix at home. The cashier told me new owners took over recently, and the owners decided to change their wonderful cupcakes into what they are now, but keep their old price. Their website still shows their old cupcakes in the photos. That is what I believed I was ordering. What a complete disappointment. I will never again order from this once-treasured family-owned business. So deceptive to show the old photos and make no mention of the new changes to their product. It's sad to see such a good local business being run down. I will miss having the old Wuollet's as part of my family celebrations.

I normally love this chain, but was incredibly frustrated with today's visit. We stopped by during the Edina Art Fair's last day and picked up some treats. While there, the young man working seemed less than pleased to have to help us. I'm sure he had a long day, so it wouldn't normally bother me, except when I got home I found that the butter bar I had paid for was a lemon bar. I'd been given the wrong item when not looking. He might not have known this, but I can't eat lemons, they make me very sick. So it was an unpleasant surprise to bite into my butter bar at home, and get a sharp and shocking lemon bite taste in my mouth. I'll spend the rest of my evening feeling nauseous and ill, as well as sad that I had to throw away a perfectly good treat because it is not what I ordered, and not something I can eat.

I have ordered custom cakes at Wuolett Bakery in Edina in the past and have been extremely satisfied! However, with this purchase I was disappointed. The frosting was air brushed on the cake. Love the colors and design! But when I took the cake out of the box the pictures show my disappointment. It appears that the air brush technique creates more of a “shell” around the cake. For some reason the cake fell as shown. I don’t know why exactly. Maybe because the shell is more delicate and driving home disrupted the shell?? Or maybe the frosting border was too heavy and crushed the shell? Regardless, it was disappointing and just wanted to share with others who may be considering air brush frosting to ask the company if there are any special instructions for air brush frosting.

A coworker and I stopped by the downtown location in US Bank Plaza to order a cake for our office party. We ordered the cake a week ago, to pick up today. When my coworker went to collect the cake, Jordan (the employee) didn't have it. He then called the Edina location, and they didn't have it either. Apparently there was an issue with their new ordering system. When pressed further, he said the Edina location would make the cake and bring it over. My coworker asked to have it delivered to our suite since there had been a mix up - Jordan then told us he would be cancelling our order. Mind you, we had already paid $100 for the cake. We called the Edina location and are getting a cake, but the damage has been done. Avoid this bakery! Not worth the hassle.

We ordered our wedding cake through Wuollet's in September 2022. Throughout the entire process they were helpful and kind. They offered taste testing of the different kinds of cakes, which were all quite delicious. Sara and Annie were both so helpful in making sure our cake order details were correct. The cake was delivered early on our wedding day and was very tasty. The only piece of advice we would offer is to double check on your order details before your event to ensure everything is correct. We ran into a small snafu regarding our order in the beginning, but this was corrected promptly. We would recommend Wuollet's for any of your cake needs! :)

Wuollet's is truly a Twin Cities tradition. Since I was a kid, we have enjoyed many treats from this fine bakery. However, for the past couple of years, they have gotten really cheap. I remember Easter sugar cookies...purple bunnies, pink bunnies, yellow chicks, and multi-color eggs. Now, one of each color eggs...that's it. At $12/dozen (ridiculous), they can't make different shapes and use multiple colors on the eggs? There is absolutely no way they can complain about the cost/profit margin. Next year, my family and I are going to make our own sugar cookies. So much for tradition and good business.

My first and this might be last experience here. I ordered a half sheet cake for my son"s birthday here recently the cake was good in taste . We dint like the icing . After the birthday party next morning my husband found a screw inside the cake when he took a bite . We immediately contacted the bakery they told sorry we offer you a gift card for the fault . But I refused for that and we took refund . Still the in - tension is not of money refund . We were put to tension and guilt feeling thinking of kids who ate the cake in party as most of kids were around 2 and 4.

  • Jacqueline Pagel

I didn't read reviews before ordering my son's birthday cake as this used to be a wonderful bakery and I was unaware of their sharp decline in quality and service. I ordered a cake three days ahead of time, they charged my credit card right away, and I got a confirmation email. My husband went to pick up the cake from the Grand Ave location and they told him they did not receive the order. They gave him a similar cake with a cream cheese frosting (which my son hates) and did not even offer to put an inscription on it! No apologies and NO REFUND. Unreal.

  • Miriam

The quality of the cakes has gone down and the service has suffered greatly in the last few years - tried to order a cake 24 hours out and told policy changed and need two days now (keep in mind this is just a basic 1/4 sheet cake, nothing special). Since last cake was dry & disappointing, I should have tried others instead, but the actual decorating of the cakes is usually quite good, so I was going to try again bc I like the way they look. Will find another to decorate a cute AND TASTY cake!!

My family and I have always used Wuollets for all our weddings and special occasions and loved it! This last week I purchased cupcakes for my daughters birthday and was surprised by the new smaller sized cupcakes for the same price as the original cupcakes. They were so small I thought they were offering a mini size to the regular but I was sadly mistaken. We have decided to start using alternate bakeries that are delivering great product and not riding on their old reputation. Not impressed... very disappointing.

  • Amanda Reh

Judging from the advertisement pictures and other customer pictures I thought the cake I ordered would come out beautifully. Maybe I should’ve chosen a different width or style because I did order a two theme cake. I apologize to say but really? I am disappointed. This cake looks as basic as any cake from Walmart. I think cub foods does a better job. Also, when I was cutting the cake it immediately was falling apart. The whip cream or what was put onto the cake was separating from the cake which was upsetting.

  • Lauren Gerland

Tried ordering some simple sugar cookies with sprinkles for my daughters birthday. First they mixed up my order and thought the cookies were for a baby shower then when I went to pick them up at 30 minutes after the scheduled pick up time they hadn't even baked the cookies. So frustrating! Try telling a 3 year old that they won't be getting their sprinkle cookies Won't be using them ever again. What's worse is that they wouldn't refund me for the cookies but instead gave me a gift card.

  • Tina

I ordered cupcakes for an office party and boy did they go fast. Someone said it was the best frosting they'd ever had. I've also gotten Danish for office breakfasts. One of my coworkers said their round cake (probably their torte) which they had ordered for a birthday was the best cake she'd had.

I’ve been going here basically my entire life. They changed the recipe for the lady Baltimore cupcakes, which I was bummed to discover. But I did have a piece of rainbow cake that tasted like it had the frosting that used to be on the lady Baltimore. Edit: went back today, bought a piece of princess tort from the case, disappointed bc it seems the cake has been in the case for a few days. The whipped cream was no longer stiff, was more liquid like :/

  • Chris Robinson

Very disappointed. They apparently don't listen to your orders and bake what you request. Daughter's only request for a birthday was a cake with a specific topping. Picked up the cake and they were missing. Plus to find out during the event it wasn't even marble like we ordered. Sad frustrated and disappointed. There should be more care and review, especially if it clearly listed in an online order. If it's important, consider other bakery options.

  • Emily Yanez

I know this place has been in business for many years, but we ordered cupcake samples for our wedding and they were surprisingly awful. We were shocked and thought maybe they were left out for a few days, so we called the store and they said the recipe is on the ‘drier’ side. Yikes! Almost $4 a cupcake and they taste like cardboard. The employees were very nice and helpful, so maybe we just need to try another bakery item there.

  • J Shan

In short, they forgot to make my cake, no explanation. I ordered a specialty cake for pick up today for my son's birthday party. I was so excited for this cake (my son too). Husband got there to pick it up and guess what - they forgot to make the cake. Now I get the unenviable task of (1) panicking to find a cake in the next 2 hours, and (2) telling my son that cake he was so excited for isn't going to happen. Thanks Wuollet.

  • Jane Byrkit

due to Covid 19 I ordered my step son a birthday cake and paid in advance. i went to the bakery and they did not have anything on file. Thank god I ordered a speciality cake and they had one frozen. The women treated me like i was trying to steal! worst customer service. outside the building there are rat traps! Dirty building! I will never go back! I emailed proof that I paid but not even an apology! Shame on them!

  • Luna Maldonado

A true staple and champion of the bakery world here in the twin cities! No matter which location I'm never disappointed. This location however went above and beyond to assist myself and my husband with ordering our son's 4th birthday cake. It turned out fabulous and we all enjoyed the cake. My kids also appreciated the cookies they threw in with our order. Definitely a business we will continue to enjoy and support.

  • Doug Moore

Always happy with Woullet, high quality items, friendly professional service, and good prices. I needed a birthday cake last minute, and calling in they were able to direct me to WHICH location had what I wanted. On pickup, the cake decorator had left for the day, but the woman helping me was able to add what I needed. Can't ask for more. And the Russian teacakes are perfect with morning coffee. I'll be back soon.

  • Cindy Brinkman

I have loved Wuollets for over 25 years. But the new ownership has changed some things that are making it less desirable. I used to come in for the rich thick chocolate fudge iced donuts but they changed to a typical choc glaze . And the daily in stock options have diminished. Please don’t get rid of the quality and products that have always made this bakery exceptional and worth the extra cost.

  • Kevin

We bought two birthday cakes, they cakes were made completely incorrectly. Obviously very frustrating, thankfully they said they could remake them that day. We came back a few hours later and they looked ok, but oh well. Even so the cakes were supposed to be two different flavors, they were both the same flavor. Sadly Wuollets has declined in their service and quality since they were bought.

  • D D

Had the butterboy enormous. At first bite my initial thoughts were "psssh tastes like something I could make"! And then...the pure goodness sets in. The warm butter saltiness, sweet chocolateyness, pure Bliss! Every bite after sets you into a state of euphoria! Definitely a must have! I'm glad that we don't have these in the northwest where I'm from because I'd definitely become an addict!

  • JC Cross

They no longer offer sandwiches, but you’ll find a lot of fresh pastry, bread, and cake options. I would rate the store closer to four stars for the higher prices and lack of whole grain options, but the staff I have encountered are friendly and do their best to help. If you’re looking to indulge while avoiding generic processed food, you should find an option to satisfy your sweet tooth.

  • E AR

More times than I can count in the last few years I have been bitterly disappointed. My birthday today, husband made a special trip for expensive cupcakes. Frosting is great but the cake is stale and hard. Will not let any of my family waste their time or money on this place again. Got my wedding cake from here years ago but I have given up hope for you Wuollet. Couldn't be sadder.

  • Joe Falk

Dec 2021, this year's cookie tray was quite the disappointment. I normally don't mind paying the higher price for their Xmas cookie tray because they are presented so nicely. However this year, the count was smaller and they came shrink wrapped on a clear plastic plate. I could have gone to one of big box stores and found a similar product. I won't make that mistake again.

  • Jacob Cameron

I hate the idea of leaving a negative review but I feel forced to. I ordered a cake over a month ago. it never arrived and customer support is the worst i have ever seen. i have been trying to get a refund out of them for weeks and they continue to find ways to kick the can down the road or just flat out ignore me. Im sure the actual cakes are good but ill never know.

  • John Benning

This place is fantastic. Procrastinating as usual, I called the morning of my girlfriend's birthday to see if they could get a Princess Torte ready in time. They had it ready for me to pick up at 1pm that day! And it was incredible. With free birthday candles! Also got a few cupcakes and macaroons, which were delicious. Can't recommend Wuollet's enough.

  • Shad Owen

Wuollet is my go to for birthday cakes or pretty much any bakery items for special occasions. Their bakery is one of the best in the Twin Cities! I've had a few last minute requests where they've accommodated me and I really appreciate it! What's most impressed me though are their decorated cakes. They're always so beautiful and tastefully done!

  • Abbe Pedersen

Stopped in here today to pick up a dozen donuts for a road trip. I started to tell the young man what I wanted and he said "You don't get to pick." and proceeded to fill up my box with random things. WHAT??!! So I guess if I go to McDonalds, they can just give me a fish sandwich if they have too many that day? Ticked off. Good donuts, though.

  • Sahina Zannat

They are good place to order customized or general cake. However their Minneapolis downtown shop remains closed during weekend. Giving 1 star less, as sometime they modify cake designs according to themselves, if they deem the image/design inappropriate. Ex- they modified our bachelorette party cake stating "sexy" is not a modest word.

  • Randy H (The UPS Store 1886)

Just called in a order to pick up! Super excited to have something nummy in our tummies! These guys are great and I have never been disappointed in their baked goods. I have even shipped one of their cakes to Florida before! (It was frozen for shipping.) Made it perfectly! Thank you Wuollet's! Please support small businesses like this!

  • Joe Engelhart

We bought six different cupcakes so we could have a variety. They were all old and dry. The lady working at the desk seemed nice but a guy working there was not wearing a mask. Would not recommend. She even put a fresh tray out and we bought one of those cupcakes and that was old the dry. Looked pretty but that’s it......

  • Oksana Belous

Called ahead a few weeks ago to order some donuts to pick up later that day, took my card info over the phone for one price then when I came in to pick them up I got charged a different price which was more... so got charged twice for 2 boxes of donuts that they couldn't even find when I came in...

  • Kmb Jones

The cake was supposed to just be black and gold. Did not turn out like I expected the cake was absolutely delicious but they put in these round candy sprinkles that were so hard you couldn’t chew into them so you were afraid to take a quick bite because you would literally break your teeth off !!!

  • Katie Wellons

I was ‘last minute’ shopping for a cake for my friends birthday and I am so glad I came across Wuollet Bakery! You are able to place an order online and they only need one days notice. I was extremely pleased with the cake I received and my friend LOVED it! Their cake decorators are very talented!

  • Bryan Carter

Wow… stopped by there today, couldn’t believe Woullets is engaging in party politics. There’s a massive political candidate sign in their window. The last thing I need when getting pastries is seeing political ads. Hard pass on Woullets , or any other business, that promotes political candidates.

  • Roshan Rajkumar

Quality baked goods, cakes, pies and the like, but slow front of store service. With only 3 customers at the front, I waited more than 15 minutes after 2 customers were served. The excuse offered was the server had had a long day. Still love the baked goods, but bummed with the service aspect.

  • Elizabeth Aby

hadn't been to wuollets since new owners. i loved the cakes and cupcakes and even had wuollets cake for our wedding. today bought 8 cupcakes in 4 different varieties. was massively disappointed - perhaps they could go back to original recipes?? my comments are kinder than my real thoughts.

  • Derek P.

This is a great place to go for birthday cakes or any other occasion, they usually have a little variety on hand along with cupcakes and some rolls. If you want something specific you have to make a request a day or 2 in advance. We’ve never really had anything we haven’t liked.

  • lynnette butler

Their service is great, pastries are delicious and they make the most beautiful and creative cakes. I have never been disappointed with Wuollet just the best place to get some delicious well made pastries everything looks like they put so much love and care in it.

  • prachi tambe

Love this place .... soufflé cakes are awesome .... as are their traditional cakes.... Been ordering birthday cakes from them over 4 years now. TheY have always done a good job of designing. They provide excellent service. The staff is very kind and helpful.

  • Manan Miglani

We ordered a “jumbo” cupcake for my son’s cake smashing and trust me, there is nothing jumbo about it. It’s just a regular 3 inch cupcake with a little bit kore of cream on top. Really disappointed. Two stars is just for Maurice who was really courteous.

  • The Earth Stars

This bakery is a family favorite....there are several locations across the Twin Cities...and I think all of them produce the same quality of goods. Today i got the rainbow cake and it was delicious. If you are near one it's definitely worth stopping in.

  • christopher wagner

The staff member was very cordial and friendly! My birthday vanilla cake with berry filling was a bit dry. I won't purchase it again. Guessing it sat around for a day or 2. Yet again, super friendly, cordial staff and beautifully decorated bakery items.

  • Amber S

I fell in love with them immediately after hearing about the princess torte and the svenska torte. I ordered 2 of them for my moms 60th birthday and everyone raved about them. I also enjoy their cupcakes, fresh breads and pastries. Highly recommended!!

  • Tamara Ristow

I love wuollet bakery especially their princess cake. I got a slice of princess cake, the rainbow cake, and some donuts. The donuts and princess cake were great but the rainbow cake was dry and not very good. That's the only reason I docked a star.

  • mandi scott

Service may be great but the food no its way overpriced i have been here twice in the last 2 days first time bc my boss dragged me with her the cinnamon crumb cake i got had a coconut flavor gross and really burnt on the bottom which makes

  • J T

Not the original owners. Quality and focus on their bakery product is completely gone. However, their new push for the current ‘thing’ and promoting their favorite candidates for office have become their new bitter dessert. Ish.

  • Chase Nelson

I was surprised a bakery was open until 6 during the pandemic. So I decided to stop in and see what they had for sale. They had a good selection of breads and sweets. If I lived in the area I might buy all my baked goods here.

  • M Salim

I had a fantastic experience with Wuollet Bakery in Edina. I'm so thankful for the staff and the time and effort they put into my wife's birthday party cake! Everyone enjoy it and asked about the attractive decoration!!

  • claire jost

The customer service was horrible, it was a younger woman and she was very rude when she was taking my order and was rude to everyone in my group as-well. I’m only giving this two starts because the coffee was good

  • Mary Scarlett Lefor

They have change alot out of there bakery. I've been there for 64 years. I was just there last week and asked. There not going to get them either. I'm not going there anymore. They were part of my family's life.

  • Isle B.

This is the BEST Bakery on the face of the earth. A must is to try the princess cake. I had a cake done with a car on it. I supplied the picture. It was perfect even to the small details. Thanks Wuollet's...

  • Neil Vogt

Great bakery good service. This place does an amazing job with its cakes and gourmet cupcakes. Highly recommend 10/10 would order from this place. Their staff is highly knowledgeable and incredibly talented.

  • Ashli Theis

Their cake is AMAZING. We visited a few other places but ultimately chose Wuollet because their cake tasted so delicious. They were easy to work with and we were very pleased with the result!

  • Yvonne Blanchfield

Pricey, but you can taste the difference excellent ingredients and a master baker makes in the final product. Delicious and beautiful baked goods; for special occasions, this is our choice.

  • Syed Imran

Its a mess, and a 1-2 weeks process to order a custom cake here and no one at the edina store has a clue on the correct price. They charge you more in the last minute when you go for pickup

  • Kara Mundy

I was really excited they had slices of the princess torte as I’ve never had it before. It was delicious!! The raspberry rosebud was fine, but more donut than raspberry. Get the torte!

  • Melissa Berman

I am blown away at how beautiful and great-tasting our custom cake was for a baby shower. It far surpassed expectations- this took amazing creativity and skill. Thank you so much!

  • Sister Autumn Lathon

This is the cake I wanted my grandma to have. It was pretty just like this pic. I didn't get a pic of it before people started cutting into it. Trust me it was perfect …

  • Lana Payton

I ordered a Lady Baltimore cake with lemon filling. The lemon filling was barely visible...so disappointing. Eating a white cake with no other flavor was not very pleasant!

  • Kimberly Morvig

Bought a Groupon. This was great otherwise the Cupcakes were a bit pricey. They were very pretty and ok for taste. The frosting was a bit too sweet for my son and myself.

  • Karen Olson

Chocolate whipped cream cake - best thing ever! It's a must try - moist, chocolate cake, light whipped cream (not too sweet) filling, rich, fudgey ganache. Yummy …

  • Tim Zak

Fantastic white cake with raspberry filling. Moist, flavorful, substantive and the buttercreme frosting was amongst best I've ever tasted. Great service too!

  • Gustavo Urbina

Fantastic place. I just ordered a pecan caramel pastry, it was the best I have had in a long time, fresh and tasty. Of course I had to order a latte as well.

  • Thecla Kastner

Good place to get sweet treats. The atmosphere is not one that encourages lingering. 3 two person tables, no music, dated and fading awards on the walls.

  • Amy Linton

What an amazing (last minute) birthday chocolate mousse cake! The young lady working behind the counter was very patient explaining every cake available.

  • MeanWalkin Lampley

2/7/21 First time stopping in for baked goods....pregnant and craving!! cupcakes were dry, hard and not fresh tasting!! No moisture!! Very disappointed.

  • Claudia

I tried their carrot cake and princess torte --both are very good! I really like that you can buy slices of cake from here, not just full sized cakes.

  • Aoi Akimori

Very accommodating, cozy little place. Cake was delicious, they have a lot of variety and cake decorations all look very pro. Great service as well

  • Betsey McKenzie

Get my birthday cake here most years and the Princess Torte is still the best! Can't go wrong with any of their brownies or cupcakes either

  • Gaby Schwob (Foodie Delish MN)

Raspberry and Bavarian Cream layered with genoise (egg-rich golden cake) and wrapped in pastel almond marzipan $49 . Special occasion :)

  • Dave Vierling

Got a pumpkin pie for Thanksgiving and it was the best pie I had! 10/10. Will definitely be coming back for more sweets and treats!

  • Mary Beth Pottratz

Went in for bread which was okay. But they have single serve treats like an amazing Princess cake, pastries and muffins. Delicious!

  • Jackie Just

They have a way to swirl two school colors together now. Very festive and these were gobbled up with rave reviews!! …

  • Alyana Haak

Love this place! Great coffee! They just forgot to give me my donut lol so I was kinda sad:( but otherwise great experience!!

Had a custom cake made here and it tasted and looked great, and was reasonably priced.

If there's no choice for icing color, then they shouldn't just assume it's for a girl.

  • Garage Band

Ain’t what they used to be. Sharp decline in quality since new ownership took over…

  • Evik James

Nom nom. I bought a Cake that looks like a burrito. OMG! How cool is that?

It's OK. I've had a variety of donuts and cupcakes here
