I've been working with Daniel at Evoke for about a year now and he is undoubtedly one of the best ... if not THE best ... stylist I've ever had. I think I have VERY high standards. Not because I think I'm all that, but because I find my hair is extremely difficult to work with. I've had a number of hair cut disasters from so-called senior or master stylists. I've spent outrageous rates on stylists, always hoping to find someone who won't do a terrible job. I finally found Daniel and he's just such a nice person. Kind, friendly, gentle, and a great conversationalist, but he also really works with me on what's best for me. I tell him what I want, he offers comments or suggestions, and we always end up where I need to be. But what's most important for me is that he is a technical stylist. His cuts are precise and he knows exactly where to cut and how much to cut and how to shape my hair so that I don't end up with a flat mess or a lopsided style and the style grows out perfectly so I don't have to rush back in a few weeks if I don't want to. And, watching him work, he makes it look effortless. Thank goodness for Daniel.

My haircut turned out okay, not great, but that’s not the reason for the low star rating. I’ve never written a negative review before, but this experience was a doozy I’m still thinking about months later. Owner/stylist Jon spent my entire haircut talking supportively about right-wing, conservative politics, even though I am visibly queer and expressed my great discomfort at being cornered into that type of conversation. I finally told him I was so distressed that I was leaving with my hair unfinished, but he agreed to stop proselytising, so I stayed. That turned out to be a mistake, because Jon’s feelings about my choice of hairstyle were just as uncomfortable. While he did give me a haircut similar to what I’d requested, he was insensitive about my choice of a more masculine hairstyle than he felt suited my looks, whispering the word “masculine” as if it were a curse word, presumably because my features are more feminine. After my experience, I would not recommend this salon unless you are comfortable having pushy political conversations and/or being shamed for your gender. I will not go back.

I have been going exclusively to Evoke Salon for 7 years now and I am never disappointed! The customer service is second to none - everyone makes you feel so welcome and taken care of. They offer you a beverage as soon as you arrive (I highly recommend their cappuccino) and the whole experience feels so luxurious and special. Helen is the only person I will ever trust with my hair now until forever! She is masterful at her craft, super friendly and easy to talk to and just always knows what to do with my hair (and considering it is extremely thick, long and curly that says a lot!) In the past hairdressers have been rude to me and even seemed intimidated or turned off by how much hair I have...which really made me uncomfortable about going to salons for a long time. The team at Evoke has never made me feel anything less than amazing. I am so thankful to have this incredible salon in my neighborhood. Well worth the price you pay for the memorable and enjoyable experience and customer service every single time.

If you are looking for a hairdresser, this is your spot! Jon cuts my hair and each time does a fabulous job. He truly cares about his clients and how they feel when they leave his chair. He explains everything before it's done so that you have a good understanding of what and why he's doing what he does (offering tips on styling etc). Most recently I had impromptu highlights done by Lindsey and she took my drab looking blonde hair and turned it into the most beautiful, natural, and fresh looking colour I have ever had! Aside from what the staff can do with your hair the salon creates a great atmosphere offering hot and cold drinks, popcorn, warm towels, and lovely head massages. The little extra they do for their clients goes a long way. Each one of the staff is super friendly and goes out of there way to make you feel at home. I would highly recommend this spot for cut or colour and the price is well worth it when you leave feeling like a million bucks!

After about 15 yrs, I found Jon again! Jon had stopped cutting hair way back when so my family moved on to other stylists throughout the years - always remembering Jon. He is great with people and we always received compliments on our hair - even from strangers!. I happened to remember seeing the storefront on Bloor some time ago and then it disappeared! After finding Evoke on Google and noticing Jon was taking appointments, I immediately booked spots for both Mom and me. It was SO great to see him after all these years and we're back to feeling and looking great again! What was even more heartwarming was that Jon remembered us! The salon is in a great location. It's cozy, bright and the staff are super friendly and professional. So very happy to be back at Evoke!

I went in today for a haircut as a hair model for training stylists. I had never done this before and had no idea what to expect. Everyone at Evoke Salon just blew me away with their kindness and knowledge about all things hair. Jon was so patient when he taught Wendy (who cut my hair and did an amazing job). It was such an interesting experience to learn about all of the things that need to be taken into consideration before cutting hair. Even though this time, I wasn't a paying customer I still felt so valued. I will be going back to Evoke for all my further hair appointments.

I've been going to Evoke in Bloor West for a few years now and always have a great experience. Suzy gives a great hair cut, always taking the time to discuss what might work best with your style and features. She also provides easy at home tips to recreate the look - I can never get enough tips. Recently I had my first colour appointment (ever) with Giovanni and I couldn't have been happier. After a few tweaks I got the hair colour I was envisioning, even if I couldn't articulate it. I love it, it's fabulous, Gio was fabulous and...popcorn!

Great friendly staff. I’ve been trying out different salons to find my go to hairdressers. I finally found Lindsay and Helen and they are amazing. They were so knowledgeable and patient with all the questions I had. I trust them with whatever they do with my hair. I think it’s the same price as other high end salons, which sucks for me because my hair grows fast and I like to change my hair colour frequently, but it’s worth it. Also they give you popcorn and drinks which is great if you’re gonna be there for hours.

Susy has been cutting my hair at Evoke for years and she’s seen me through some major changes including a fringe/bangs (she offers bang trims between cuts) and a short bob. I’ve always come out feeling more confident then I did walking in. The salon is meticulously clean, carries eco friendly haircare products, and booking is always easy. I’ve been in to get my haircut during the pandemic, and the experience felt incredibly safe. Highly recommend Susy and evoke salon in general!

Had a great first experience at Evoke with Susy. I’d gotten a pixie cut done at a different salon that didn’t go well and needed fixing. Susy did an excellent job correcting the previous stylist’s errors. I have very fine, very straight hair so having the layers cut correctly makes a big difference and Susy was great at making it look chic, stylish, and well-cut! Now I’m actually enjoying my pixie cut instead of tolerating it. Will definitely be back. Thanks Susy!

I followed Daniel Ilijeski from Yonge and Eglinton to Evoke at Jane and Bloor when he moved last year. He's worth it! He's the best hair stylist I've ever had! He has all of the skill and non of the attitude you usually get with excellent hairdressers. Everyone loved the short cut he did and now I'm growing it into a bob. Daniel has made the growing out process painless and I've gotten tons of compliments at every stage. My highest recommendation goes to Daniel!

Booking the appointment online is simple and easy, the salon is super clean, they have all the necessary precautions in place and the staff is welcoming. I saw Philip for colour and Helen for a cut and I love my hair. Helen and Philip were both friendly, professional and efficient getting me out the door right on time. I had my hair blow dried today with Jon, the owner of Evoke salon. He is probably one of the most down to earth and hilarious individuals I have ever met! He was very informative and provided me with a lovely blow out. Suzy was great! I had asked for someone who did really well with thick hair and she delivered. I have very thick, coarse hair and she thinned and cut it perfectly. She also gave me perfect bangs for my face which is something I wanted for a long time. Overall she did an amazing job.
