Camcorder Simple Repair Disappointed!....;Questioning the 5:Star Reviews. To begin off, I am not the type of person to leave a negative review, but here I am because I am forced to. I am still more than happy to work out a solution with the owner but deception is why I am leaving this review. Im still leaving two stars because his customer service was decent, but not the repair job. So I dropped off a Sony 8mm camcorder to be recapped a year ago, Oscar said no problem I will rebuild it like new again a month goes by and Oscar said he replaced many capacitors inside, but the capstan motor is broken and unrepairable he said. I took his word as he was the tech and so I thought an expert. Months went by because I was waiting on Oscar to see if he could get a capstan motor. He couldnt fix it but he claimed he replaced most of the capacitors and that put a lot of time into it and the image is crystal clear now and the camcorder can be used using its external video outputs, I thought thats fair enough, I respect people for their time and labour and I paid Oscar $360 ($100 in advanced and $260 when I picked up the unit) finally. Now, I was told that the unit was recapped (the image should be crystal clear and the unit should be usable through the video outputs. I am very disappointed because the camcorder is acting exactly like how it did before I dropped it off for repair (staticky image, rolling image, the camcorder still smells like rotting capacitors when turned on for a few min) sometimes it wont even turn on after turning it on, literally all my time and money went into the garbage. Now the reason why Im disappointed is that because Oscar told me that the issue was a capstan motor. But it turns out I took the camcorder to two other technicians and they both said the issue is with the servo board capacitors which have ruined the multi layer traces on the board (it has nothing to do with the servo motor and many models share the same boards from the line of Sony 8mm camcorders from the early 90s) but Oscar claimed the parts must be from the exact camcorder model but that is untrue because most of these camcorders from the same line used the same chassis and parts, that being said I feel deceived because the camcorder is exactly like how I sent it in for repair when it supposedly went in a repair and claimed that many hours were put into it however I have received the camcorder and it acts exactly like how I did before I dropped it in for repair. The only difference is that I paid $360 for a camcorder thats exactly like how it was prior to repair. I am an honest and reasonable person and paid Oscar because he put his time and effort into it and claimed that the camcorder should work besides the VTR part. However its literally acting like how it did prior to dropping it off for repair, I just feel ripped off.

If I could rate it a zero I would. I brought in my TV about a month ago and Oscar told me that it would take a day to be fixed. I spent most of the time chasing after owner calling and emailing him regularly to see when it would done. Not only did I spend everyday trying to get a hold of Oscar, but when I finally had he promised it to be done, then told me $150 more of $220 as promised. That is a total of $370 + tax INSANE! Terrible customer service and just simply unprofessional. Told him to keep the TV now we're even, not paying him nothing for all the stress he has caused me. I don't trust him or his repair work. I'm up now super early for the early Black Friday Sales. Not straight forward and very shifty person. I should have taken the low 1 Star reviews seriously. My mistake is I took his 5 Star reviews more seriously and gave him the benifit of the doubt. I just hope this does not happen to others out there. A WORD OF CAUTION! ...AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS!! NOT RELIABLE REGARDLESS WHAT THE 5 STAR REVIEWS SAY.

My water bottle soaked my 2021 13-inch Macbook Air when I was flying into Toronto in August 2021. Water kept dripping out of the exhaust. It would refuse to turn on, but when it did—it'd shut down right away. I legitimately thought I lost my laptop for good. When I landed, I was freaking out because it was 7 PM and every repair shop was closed. Luckily, Oscar was still open! He was great from when I initially emailed him (in panic on the plane) to when I got there in person. He got to work right away to remove the water and took the time to be thorough. Water damage is a time-sensitive repair, especially in a pressurized cabin (airplane). I genuinely think that if I had waited until the next morning, I don't think my laptop would have survived or worked at all. Obviously, I didn't expect my laptop to be 100% again when he repaired it because of the water damage. But almost a year later, it still operates and it's fully functional. I've used it daily since Oscar fixed it in August last year. Thanks Oscar!

My case involved fixing some items for my vintage Infinity car stereo (as recently I had undertaken a major effort to restore many parts of my vintage car, like engine, body work etc after 28yrs of life - so the stereo was the one next in line). It is a cool stereo with a tape, manual equalizer, etc top of the line when it was released in 1995 that even today it shows its hip & value. Volume controls were worn out and misbehaving, as well as some of the lights. Excellent service by Oscar and reasonable pricing, plus quick turn around. He went the extra steps to clean other parts of the stereo (that was malfunctioning for a few years). Very satisfied by the courtesy of his service, notwithstanding that his shop feels like a treasure of the 80s and 90s with all the cool vintage equipment he has inside! Certainly I will highly recommend his services to friends, and thank him for his work to rejuvenate my audio system.

My experience with Oscar has been good. My two-year old diecutting machine just broke down last month suddenly and I bought a new one on sale but didn’t want to throw away the well made solid expensive machine. So I thought I would try to find a local place to fix it. That’s when I found AMI electronics in downtown near me. I was skeptical initially that it could be fixed as the power wouldn’t even turn on. But Oscar proved me wrong. He is friendly and patient. He called me up after a few days and identified the problem with power supply and fixed it right away after informing the costs. Tonight I went to pick it up and was thrilled to see the diecut machine working again! I am so happy. The repair/part costs wasn’t cheap but reasonable. But I think it’s worth it so hopefully I can get a year or two or more out of the machine. Thank you Oscar. You are a wizard!

Horrible service, broke down after a week. Loss of over $400 I had a problem with sleeping because the way Oscar views people with mental issues. I know I will a mouth full. Telling people they can't be helped because of mental issues is disgusting and not professional at all.  You are a Doctor? As your 5 Star reviews say? Wow! You couldn't even fix my TV properly! Oscar is amazing! We thought my wife’s special old-model Bernina sewing machine was finished when she turned it on one day and it went up in a cloud of smoke. It was like losing an old friend. I removed the circuit board and made a same-day appointment with Oscar. He had a quick look at the board, gave me a very reasonable quote and told us to come back in 30 minutes; he knew we did not live in the city and wanted to save us a second trip. Oscar not only fixed it, he replaced more components than planned just to make it more reliable. I am delighted to say the sewing machine is working perfectly and my wife is both happy and grateful. I chose to visit Oscar based on his Google reviews, and I recommend anyone to do business with him. I brought an LED lighting strip to Oscar to repair, and he tried several things, but ultimately concluded that he wasn't able to fix the issue because the manufacturer had removed the article number from the piece on the circuit board that needed to be replaced. I'm giving Oscar five stars because he did not charge me for his time, and was kind enough to tinker with the circuitry in the first place and to provide this explanation to me. I will definitely be coming back to Oscar in the future! I recommend his services to anyone.

This is the third time I called Oscar for an issue with a TV. Like both previous calls, this was a terrific experience. He came quickly, picked up the tv that was not working, and called me the next day to give me options, all with prices. I chose to purchase a tv rather than repair the old one, and he came and installed it that night. Oscar is honest, knowledgeable, and professional. Our baby monitor antennae has been broken for a while. We finally looked for someone to fix it and AMI did an excellent and FAST job fixing it!!! We lost the original antennae but he was able to create a new one. He went above and beyond to test the range once it was fixed, and can confirm video and sound comes through clearly anywhere inside and outside as well! Most of all I am grateful how quickly he was able to repair it, I didn't even have to go one night without the monitor. Thank you very much for your speedy and quality work

AMI Electronics LIES! NOT FIXED! The five star fake reviews did make any difference. Oscar was rude and miserable from the start of the call to the end when I called him only to ask. Very angry man and NOT to be trusted. He doesn't give solid warranty and was in Toronto not for more then 10 year. Please prove that you were in business as you as what you state. As for the repair? No! Just as I thought, such a waste of time and money. 30 days -90 days warranty. VERY DiSAPPOINTED!

Brought in my old Sony cassette stereo to see about restoring -they looked it over and called back with a quote for repair and cleaning options. It was all done extremely quickly, and I'm really excited to start using it after it's been sitting in the garage for 15 plus years. Also very helpful in showing me how to use the bluetooth function I asked him to add, which I originally didn't even know you could do with older pieces! Great service! Oscar was able to fix an old Sanyo Betamax that we didn’t think anyone could fix, a Sony micro stereo system with power issues, and also an old Sony Walkman –all are working great! I had to bring in the Sanyo Betamax again not long after, but this was due to a different issue –and Oscar did not charge me to fix it, as it was still under his warranty. I am very pleased with his service and quick turnaround in just a few days –I highly recommend his service!

My experience with AMI: 1. When asked for the advertised 25% seniors discount it was refused (I am 89). 2. My amplifier was returned not repaired after I paid $390 (apparently "repaired" but not tested). 3. I sent the amplifier back. AMI were not able to repair it, refunded $300, charged me $90 through no fault of mine "for parts". Did not say sorry for the 20 days aggravaition . Great guy this Oscar.

I would never go back to this place. I got ripped off and paid $200 for a simple cold join repair on the power connector, where I was told a part in my active speaker was replaced. When asked to see the part that got replaced my request was denied. And the owner is not very friendly. If you want to be scammed this is the place to go (my 2c).

Mr. Moz was a pleasure. I arrived out of the blue with a simple issue requiring a simple fix. He insisted I stay while he fixed it in 10 mins. He wouldn’t hear of me making a 2nd trip. I had just bought a new headset that I needed for a Zoom meeting that night. An accident severed the cord. I called to see if it was possible to repair it, not expecting same-day service. I had 2 led outdoor snowflake lights of which the plug snapped away during the wind storms in December 2021. Oscar reattached both and made them stronger than the manufacturer's spec. Instead of discarding your electronics think about the environment and please consider fixing your electronics with Oscar.

I had used service from this company for many of my automotive computer modules that have common failures that happen all the time with me. I hired AMI to fix my grandmothers Garrard 3000 record player. Oscar was very friendly and knowledgeable. He had the unit fixed and returned within a week and the record player works perfectly. I couldn’t be happier. I wouldn’t hesitate to hire Oscar and AMI again.

Easy process. I called ahead to make sure someone was there, used the intercom to let him know I was outside, then he helped me right away! I needed my RCA plug replaced on a Logitech computer speaker. He fixed it in 5 minutes while I was there and that was it!
