NOT WHAT THEY USED TO BE. HORRIBLE CAR AUDIO SERVICE. Bought my home theatre and two truck stereo systems here over the past few years. Told them I had to leave for BC in a few days and they said no problem. Called the day before and they still hadn't touched it after the truck had been there for 3 days. The tech said it was scheduled to be done the same day I was supposed to pick it up. They rushed to get it done but they made it sound like they had to move mountains for me like they were doing me a big favour. Had some trouble with my other truck stereo. Brought it in, showed them the problem, and all they did was switch a cable and charge me $200 and the problem is still there. Took it back again, more time wasted, only to have them say it's probably a problem with the amp and it could take months to send off and get repaired. Money is not an issue, if it needs a new amp it needs a new amp, but their complete inability to diagnose, repair, or even hear how horrible my supposedly repaired system sounded and then listen to ridiculous excuses was simply unprofessional. If I were the owner of Advance I'd be shamefully embarrassed by my car audio department. They were complete amateurs in every aspect of my recent experiences. I LOVE MY HOME THEATRE AND TRUCK AUDIO BUT WON'T EVER BE BACK FOR ANYTHING!

I have shopped at advance for nearly 30 years since I was into car audio competitions back in high school and have spent 10s of thousands of dollars there through the years on everything from high end home audio, to big TVs, and obviously car audio Just prior to the whole lockdown chaos I had a new Kenwood head unit installed in my truck with the extras to ensure all the factory features still worked, another $1500 bill, and have had nothing but issues with it. Android auto randomly disconnects (and suggests connecting via the cable when it already is) and the deck will completely loose power only to come back on a few seconds later. Imagine how annoying that can be when you are in heavy traffic and relying on your maps to get where you are going. Long story short, I was TOLD over and over again that they would make it right... I got tired of following up so here I am with a stereo in my truck that cuts out intermittently every time I go somewhere, $1500 out of pocket and will need to pay someone more cash just to put my truck back to original. $2000 lesson learned. Why 3 stars? They still have a great selection of equipment and the staff there is typically pretty knowledgeable but like many others have already stated, the service over the years seems to have fallen off.

I had a remote car starter installed on my car at Advance about 1.5 years ago. Recently it started giving me a problem (telling me that one of my car doors was not locked when it was). At point of purchase of the remote starter the customer service that I received was on point and informative. However, the after service is equally important and I was not sure how and if I would get any service. Let me tell you that my recent trip did not disappoint me. Tony assisted me in trying to solve my remote problem. He tried a few things and it seemed to solve the problem. He suggested that I observe the problem and if the problem persisted that I come in again. Sure enough I came back in the next day. Tony once again looked into the problem and had his techicnan look into it. I am truely apprecitive of this and I am very impressed with the after service. My remote problem is now resolved. I would like to extend a big thank you to Tony and his team. In future, when I purchase another vehicle or have friends that want to install a remote starter I will be directing them to this store. I hope this review also helps others decide on getting their car installations from this store!

10 STAR SERVICE FROM JEFF TODAY! We bought a compustar car starter from Jeff 2 years ago. It was great until recently. We went to Advance to get it checked today and we were happy to see Jeff was still there. In conversation he told us he has been there for 16 years. He began charging it, tested the system in the car and discovered that the battery in the hand unit wasn't working. He looked up our bill and it was within 3 years so it qualified for replacement. He said other places only gave one year. He quickly set it up for us. We were thrilled that we didn't have to buy a new one. He also replaced the batteries in the one way starter of ours. We decided that anything we need, we'll be getting from Advance and Jeff! He was also awesome when we bought the first one. We had to park down the street and he happily came to the car to set it up! We highly recommend Jeff and Advance, if you want superior Service! A big thanks to Jeff, and the staff who were all so kind in making sure we were comfortable while we waited.

I don’t normally leave reviews. But this is worth noting. I’ve been an Advance Elec customer for a long tome. Our first investment in a quality system was a Definitive Surround Speaker system. That was now 25 years ago, and to this day it still outperforms, tenfold, any other surround system I’ve ever heard. Then some 8 years ago we had Advance come out to our cottage and install a networking system, TVs, Sonos systems and power blinds. And that too is simply awesome. And most recently we bought a fun little sports car for winter life in AZ, and we trailered the car back to Wpg specifically for Advance to install a stereo system over this summer. And yet again, Advance outdid themselves with JL high end products, custom sub box work and a DSP - Digital Sound Processor to “make magic happen”; all made to match a period correct classic look. And all we can say is “Wow”! We are so fortunate to have Advance in Wpg. If u are looking for high quality and great service I couldn’t recommend them more. Well done guys !

I am very disappointed with this company! If I could, I wouldn't give it even one star! My car's remote ignition wouldn't connect and the first time they did a quick check and said it could be fixed and asked me to make an appointment. I made an appointment and paid for the service and it was fixed at that time. But a week later, I couldn’t connect again! I went back to them again to determine what caused it, and they said they didn't know! My remote ignition system is not their product, they can fix it, but they don’t know why? ! Is this a joke? I was only given two options. One was to make another appointment and pay for the repair again. Then it might take another week, and then I might not be able to connect again! Or purchase their remote ignition system and they can provide installation and warranty! Do they think I'm a fool? ! Can you solve the problem but don’t know the cause? ! Just trying to get me to spend more money on their remote ignition system! I am so disappointed with this company!

I have been a customer at Advance since the early '70's. My 1st purchase was an 8 track installed into a '72 Dodge Dart!! Through the years, Advance has always provided competitive products & customer service when I needed them. I returned in Aug 2020 after deciding to go "Back to the Future" by purchasing a complete home stereo component system (with a really good record player). Gerald Fast is one of most knowledgeable in the city in this regard - I provided him with my "ideal component & speaker list" and he came through with fantastic product recommendations - all within the budget I had in mind. I should say that a previous purchase experience 2 years prior had gone a bit sideways but b/o the care and attention provided to me by Advance Mgmt. in correcting things I had full faith in them. After almost 50 yrs, no one comes close to the customer detail provided by Advance to please and retain a customer. THANKS GERALD!

Twenty two years ago my wife and I built a home in the RM of Springfield. At the time, we put in what we believed was a higher end home theater plus seven additional audio zones in various rooms throughout the house. Over the years, with the change of some equipment and lack of convenience the technology at the time offered, the system lost its shine. We recently contacted Advance and Lyall came out to assess our system and provided great suggestions. After Lyall finalized the refresh design, Brent and his installation team took over. The entire team was very professional, and provided great advice on how to get the most out of the refreshed system. We are now enjoying the quality of the refresh and the convenience of streaming music throughout the house using the Yamaha App which came with the new amplifier.

I've been debating for some time on pulling the trigger on purchasing a 60" smart TV. So much so that I was on a first name basis with video sales associate John B at Advance. John was always happy to answer any of my questions and demonstrate any features any of his TV's were capable of. Once I finally did make the decision I had the TV {& sound bar} delivered ahead of their estimated time, which was really appreciated. Advance techs had had the TV out of the box and up and running within minutes. They also showed no signs or interest of leaving until any and all of my questions were answered and that I was fully confident in how to use my new TV. I fully look forward to dealing with Advance again.

I've been dealing with Advance for many years, and they have yet to disappoint. We recently had our car in for an alarm/remote start combo, and back up camera with rear view mirror screen. All of which was purchased from them and installed by their fabulous crew. My wife and myself are quite pleased with everything. From thier customer service (sales associates Alec and Jeff), to the final transaction (Mercedes), everything was top shelf. The car doesn't look like it's had any modifications, it all looks factory, which is exactly what we wanted. Great job install crew!!! Couldn't have asked for a better experience or finished product. Thanks again guys, you truly are a cut above the rest.

Came in needing a new radio for my car because the factory one in mine stopped working. Spoke with Riley and he was very knowledgeable of the products and helped me get what I needed. I looked around at other places before advance but advance also had the best pricing. When I took it in they kept me up to date with everything while it was in the shop. They even explained everything to me about the new aftermarket radio and how to use it and all of its features. Very great customer service with super knowledgeable staff. Wasn’t pressured one but which was super great to as other places try to. 10/10 very happy with my new radio and the service I received from Riley and his co workers!

I purchased a gps system for a new service van from Advance. Riley was my sales rep. I have to say, I have never seen a sales rep who cares more about you getting what you need then making a sale. He even discounted the price after I had already pulled my visa out and agreed to the purchase. I will also note that his post sale customer service was just as good as before the sale and he made it clear on multiple occasions that it was important that I was satisfied with the product I had purchased. I will definitely be going to advance and buying all my electronics through Riley in the future. The sales manager Tony really stands behind their product aswell.

These guys are super rad!!! I had issues with my car alarm going off while driving and Tony looked at it for 30 seconds and knew exactly which fob I needed. I’m also looking into rebuilding my Genesis inside and out and Riley was super wicked with helping me find my Kenwood face plate stereo. And Matt was the bomb with helping me find a HDMI Cable that was the length that ai needed to hook my PS4 up to my ceiling mounted Projector! I give these guys 6/5 for going out of their way to help me with their knowledge and expertise. I highly recommend these awesome men and superb place! Way ta go guys and I’ll see ya tmrw to pick up my order!

I came here looking for an upgrade from my old record player set up. Honestly did a little bit of research but wanted to talk to an expert about it. My manger recommended advance electronics to me. I gave them a call and spoke with Gerald Fast, not once did he make me feel uncomfortable or forced into anything. He gave me multiple different options and told me to talk it over with my father. The amont of respect he gave me made me wanna buy it from him. I’ve had my set up for about a week now and absolutely love it. If ever I choose to upgrade or do any type of home theatre set up I’ll definitely be speaking to him. Thank you Gerald

Where to begin. I suppose growing up in wolseley I've always been slightly partial to local businesses and growing up advance was always the go to for all my electronics needs. Although over the past few years It's become a chore to try and shop there. The staff for the most part seem fairly stuck up and judgemental, and I'm always finding myself pressured into buying something over priced as a result their lack of inventory or general incompetence reguarding the product or the application. It's really unfortunate that the "big box" electrnics stores have a friendlier and easier buying experience. Seriously, step it up!

Bought a car stereo and had an amazing buying experience with Riley this past Saturday. Super professional, friendly and very knowledgeable with everything. Helped me get an idea of all the different products to choose from which can be a bit overwhelming otherwise. Did not feel any pressure and the whole transaction was flawless. Even didn't rush me when it was closing time which I only realized after I left (sorry guys!) Riley is the definition of top tier service! Give this guy a raise! Looking forward to the installation and finally having an awesome, fully working stereo in the car again.

Thought I would skip the big box experience of walking around a ginormous store looking for something specific and drop in at Advance Electronics. It's been 10 years since I was last there! What a relief to meet Reg smiling at the front desk area gladly ready to help me find the prize I was looking for. Not only did Reg actually know what I was talking about, have a model that was out of the package for viewing he also knew some key specs and features I didn't know about. What a surprise breath of customer service! Definitely will be back. Sorry big box stores. I don't want a dishwasher today.

I came in just to browse and was instantly impressed with the store's whole layout. We were greeted immediately by friendly staff and the service was some of the best I've seen at any store. Everyone was friendly and didn't try to pressure me into making a sale. They were more focused on showing me what they have and how it works, I was impressed. They treated me as if I was a friend. Normally I don't write reviews like this, but I feel it's beyond necessary, as far as I'm concerned, anything home/car entertainment wise, this is the place. I will be returning very soon.

Stopped into Advance to check out some bookshelf speakers for my nephew. Gerald Fast took the time to show us several options. I would like to take the time to tell you that Gerald was simply awesome. His knowledge and love for these products is evident. He is everything a great salesmen should be. He even took the time to let us listen to some unbelievable Bowers and Wilkins speakers. Thanks for the great experience Gerald! Fantastic. Salesman was very helpful and knowledgeable. Great experience. Now i cant wait for my paradigm tower's to arrive! Paradigm monitor 3000 se arrived on time and they are sweeeeet! Such an upgrade over precision acoustics towers Agreed to price match the speakers i purchased a few months back with a gift card. Unexpected and i must say, EXCELLENT customer service. Second to none. Purchased a yamaha 5 disc cd player and a Cambridge cxa 61 amp to round out my system for now, and I am really happy with the results.

Came in as a walk-in. Store is nicely laid out and it’s easy to find what you’re looking for. My wife and I were assisted by Jeff. He was very helpful in providing us with the info we needed to make an informed choice as to the sterio controller we wanted. In addition they were not only open on a Saturday but were able to install it same day. We got quality service and didn’t feel pressured to purchase anything. All in all great experience. Great salesman. Will definitely come back in the future.

Not impressed. My remote starter wasnt working; turned out to be a fuse; they gladly changed it for $39.99 plus tax...what does a fuse sell for these days? Told me they had to replace some wiring...that was B.S. had a friend look at it after the fact and he confirmed there were no wires replaced. To top it off, my remote has been wonky in other ways since; (doesn't want to lock/unlock the doors...sometimes the command doesn't work etc). Will avoid this place in the future if I can!

I went to get my remote starter fixed. The guy told me that they would diagnose it and let me know whats the problem and I wont be charged until I ask them to fix it. Another guy comes in and told me its $75 fix and I asked him not to fix it as the problem was occasional but they still asked me to pay $40 just because they saw whats the problem..Left no choice for me but to pay $75 to fix it..Wont come back here..Better try Wheels in Motion on Queen Street

I Recently had a stereo system installed in my car. I delt with Jeff in sales and Todd in install. Jeff did an amazing job understanding what I wanted. And Todd did a fabulous job on the install actually spent far more time than what I was billed for. I bought focal speakers a J.L. sub and a D.S.P. amp. Just under $5000.00 but worth every penny and then some. Highly recommend them. Great guys Great service. And Awesome products and exceptional knowledge.

There are many places to purchase electronics in Winnipeg. Like every other resident of Winnipeg I to will travel from Charleswood to Transcona to save a quarter (ok ok not REALLY for a quarter) but I like to get a good bang for my taco buck. I compare and always find myself back at Advance. Honesty, quality and reliability have been what I have found in my many years of repeated purchases from Advance. 2 thumbs up for a LOCAL made in Winnipeg business!

I have been dealing with Advance for decades, starting with a pair of Magneplanar speakers. Only paid $1500 for them in 1979 but they were well worth it. I could not afford the Timpanis, which were also magnestatically based. I liked them so much, I bought another pair as well. Adam the manager is really good to take care of anything I have needed. Mark Turner is also very good, when I need some hom wiring for theatre , i will be calling him back.

Friendly and the best deal's in the City .They take there time to ex plane what's on the mark it and were it comes from.If you what a good Deal there the guy's any were any time.It's a five hour drive there.Note:My Best Friend just return his Stereo 8.27.18 and he drove from Regina which cost a lot over $160 in gas.Just a note before buying anything test it out before leaving the Store then there wouldn't be any miss understanding.

Went in with a particular tv in mind. Staff were very receptive, asked me very good questions and agreed that the tv I wanted was going to work well for my set up. Staff made some recommendations for additional items I may want to consider for my set up but not in a "upsell" kind of way. More of a "things you may not have considered" way. Overall a great experience and will be back for any of my electronics needs in the future.

Larry in cell phones is the best! I continue to go back to Advance for all my family cell phones for 20 years. I've checked out other places but Advance knows cell plans and phones better. Paul in phone repair has also been very helpful and knows his stuff. Customer service is excellent! Not pushy and helpful sales staff have lead me to purchase quality home and car audio from there as well. Excellent local company!

I'm so glad I decided to get my car starter purchased and installed from here. Jeff was super helpful and full of knowledge on each product and never pressured me into choosing a starter that was out of my budget. Took my Lincoln town car in for a aftermarket radio install a few years ago, after 20 minutes they phoned me and told me they cant install it and to come pick up my car. When i got my car back there was a $150 wiring harness missing for my 2001 impala and they would not do anything about it. one of their employees stole from me and they basically called me a liar. never shop at advance, they are criminals.

I would recommend Advance for car audio and installs. I went to Advance after speaking with other stores I was given great advice and pricing that beat the competitors. When picking up my wife's vehicle I was told what had been done and that if there was any problems to bring it back to them, the vehicle was kept safe in there facility. I'd like to thank Jeff for his friendly and professional service.

I went here last week to get a remote starter installed. I don't go anywhere else for electronics. Car, home, portable, people here actually know about the products they sell, so you don't have to worry about buying something that doesn't do what you want or more than you need. They even fixed what the dealership screwed up with a remote start install. I have never had a purchase I regret when I've listened to the advice of the sales reps here.

Went in to buy a battery for remote starter. The guy at front counter was on the phone . He was rude and asked if I wanted anything. I said of course why would I be there. He said he was out of batteries but I felt he might have wanted to get rid of me. He told me to go to battery man. I was planning on buying a tv from you but after this experience, I will go elsewhere. V

Fabulous customer service. I had purchased a cell signal booster for my truck, but, as it turns out, the place I needed it for is a complete dead zone, due to Bell MTS, and no amount of boost would work. This amazing company took the booster back, several weeks after the invoice said I could. Very, very impressed. Will be buying any future gear from them!

I had a blind spot camera installed as an aid to do a proper shoulder check due to neck surgery. It was a custom installation that was integrated into the XM Satellite Radio system. As such initially we had gremlins with the installation and for a while it looked like we had hit a wall. Kudos and thanks to Tony and his team for making it happen.

What a great experience at Advance! Shopping for a dashcam, Riley provided exceptional customer service, took the time to explain the products and helped choose the right one for me. After the installation was complete, he tool the time to walk us through dashcam app set up and use. I would definitely recommend. 10/10.

The service at Advance is second to none. I have my phone, digital box, video and stereo products through Advance. Although they carry medium and upper end products, their pricing is great when you add in the incredible service. Their cellular service is beyond any of the competition. I guess this is why I shop there!

Great selection, lots of demonstrators and display models. Bought Sony wireless headphones for my mom and she was happy but afterwards, I saw the same ones I bought for $150 on sale at London drugs and The Source for $99 :-( Doesn't change the fact that she loves the headphones for watching TV so four stars.

Never go to this store anymore as the workers there are a bit pushy. Also I see that someone from the store put their own review here a few years ago and no it's not true. these people need to be a lot nicer and let you actually look around without bothering you, unless you ask for help or to say hello.

Covid-19 rules are being followed and you must wear a mask. Overall the sales people were very friendly and the tv was in stock. My father and I were in and out within 20 minutes. One thing though, the parking is a little tight as I needed room for my father's walker.
