These guys are very honest, up front, and reasonably priced. I've had my receiver serviced twice at a different shop in Toronto in the last 3 yrs with the same problems recurring thinking i had a lemon and ready to just live with it - and I've never had an experience this good. My Marantz 4270 (1970s) had a power button that didnt do anything (had to plug in/out to turn on/off), radio was barely working (very weak), and some of the replacement lights in the display were brighter than the original ones. They called with a quote and invited me to take a look if i was in the neighbourhood. I don't live nearby so they explained it over the phone, noting previous repair work which was problematic and quoted 1/2 what i paid for the last repair at the other shop. They don't criticize or gossip about other shops but did note the power button was only cleaned and not fixed. They are open at 830-430 mon-friday. Would highly recommend!

Can not recommend American Electronics enough if you've got vintage/retro tech that needs to be serviced. Frank and John are incredibly knowledgeable and some of the nicest guys you could ever meet - they clearly have a passion for what they do. I got an old JVC Videosphere that had audio issues and no picture serviced and repaired by them, and now it works good as new. From the time I brought it in to have it diagnosed, to when they called me to say it was ready for pick up took only two weeks. Very fair/reasonable price for the work that had to be done to it as well (they even made a part for it from scratch that was missing). Again, this is a great store if you need something vintage (or contemporary) serviced, or just want to see some really nice pieces that they have on display.

I love this place and they can pretty much fix anything I bring them! I've brought vintage hi-fi receivers quite a few times and they did a great job at a reasonable price. I had a turntable with a speed issue. Turned out the motors winding was the culprit so they rewound the motor! I had 60's vintage fan that tended to heat up with a broken switch. Unfortunately there's no exact period replacement for the switch and modern ones wouldn't look the part. So they actually took the switch apart and fixed it. Unbelievable service.

Great experience. These two gentlemen know what they are doing. They first check your device to see what is wrong. Then they ask you if you agree to fix it based on the issue and their estimate. This is the way this should be done. Unlike other people over pricing their labour services without asking you! Don’t be fooled by pickup services. Take your unit to a place where you can talk and see how they work. Thank you!

Speakers cutting out on my vintage Pioneer Amp. had it in for repair at American Electronics got it back in perfect condition even replaced the indicator light, very pleased with the service would definitely recommend this place. Places that repair electronics these days are not easily found can't thank them enough

Great repair service at incredibly fair prices. I've had one integrated amp and two receivers serviced here and I couldn't be happier. The shop is a real blast from the past - somehow very reassuring. Tony and "Dr John" are true gentleman from the old school - and I say that with the deepest respect.

I’m really happy with the service that’s provided here. A short while back, I brought in a small bookshelf stereo system, to be repaired. They were able to fix it, for a very reasonable price, and we’re even able to find a suitable replacement for a missing tone control knob.

My old pioneer receiver blew out, bummer. Took it to these dudes on a leap of faith and wasn't disappointed. They figured out the cause, fixed the issue and even replaced all the pilot lights. The cost was more than reasonable. I'm in audio heaven. Highly recommended!

I brought both of these in, and left with them both in good working condition, and a couple of extras as well :) I recommend these guys if you have an issue with any antique audio equipment, 10 out of 10 for quality and service, thumbs up!
