Today is Wednesday night, I tried to make an appointment online since Tuesday night and it didnt work because the confirmation code was never sent to me so I went directly to the hospital as a walk in patient. The guys in the reception were not so friendly and said I needed to get an appointment, my face was very swollen (I still don't know why) , I had to show them a picture of how I normally look, then they said "okay but youre not having trouble breathing so it's not an emergency, you might have to wait up to 2 hrs." I accepted. It might have taken like an hour for me to get in with a doctor. He prescribed some pills for an allergic reaction, even though I showed him that I had already purchased some antihistamines previously but did nothing. He said he was going to give me stronger ones than the ones from the counter so it seemed fair to me. Look, I am not a doctor, I decided to take antihistamines because I thought I had an allergy and when the doctor prescribed the same medication I felt kind of relieved, I gotta mention here that he didn't really do proper examination to me, just took my pressure and temperature. Now, as the time passes, it gets worse and worse. It is not an allergy, I am not even allergic to anything. I am confused and mad, tomorrow I have a long flight to take to America and I don't know if I will be able to make it happen.

I cannot commend this facility enough for their level of care and professionalism. My experience: I went in last week, terrified and wheezing. I had severe shortness of breath and as a first time traveler to Europe, I wasn't sure if I could find the care I needed for a price I could afford. A few minutes after checking in, the staff noticed how I looked and immediately brought me into a room. My vitals were troubling, so the professional that attended me called in his supervisor and both of them examined me. They both were extremely kind, telling me that I was being taken care of and not to worry so much. The diagnosis was a cold, worsened considerably by asthma and they let me rest in the room for about half an hour after giving me a nebulizer treatment. They then sent my boyfriend to the pharmacy for medication so I could rest more, and requested that I come in to follow up the next day. My consult fee was only 45 euros. The next day, I was immediately seen and not made to pay anything additonal. These people really care.

I was very disappointed with my visit to this clinic. As a traveller, I only visit doctors when I really need to. In this case, as a 26yo woman, I had shingles and was in a lot of pain. The doctor said she did not want to prescribe me pain medication as it can be addictive. If I thought panadol was helping my situation, I wouldnt have spent 55 Euro to have a doctor tell me what I was already doing. I explained that I have just finished a bottle of conjunctivitis drops, but wanted another for my travels in case it came back. The doctor said: your eyes aren’t red so I’m not giving it to you, you can use just an eye wash. I explained that I couldn’t get any eye drops over the counter the other day and she assured me I would be able to. I walked 10 minutes to the closest pharmacy, and was told that I needed a script for eye drops. I had to get a train within a few hours so I was unable to go back, also having been exhausted with the pain from the shingles.

The worst medical service I've ever been to. Seriously, save you health and nerves and look for a real specialist. No information about a paid service, I wasn't informed that it's not possible to apply for refund before a consultation and I have been charged for a visit afterwards, for 10 mins consultation. I was waiting approx 1 hour for finally being invited inside. I should receive a referral to the hospital next day, nobody contacted me, called reception 2 times in two different days and finally received a referral after directly calling the doctor (with pure frustration!!!). The referral was issued to the wrong hospital (because they don't have oncology department) and I need to repeat the whole process from scratch because it's not possible to contract the doctor. Waste of 10 important days, lot's of nerves and well-being in general. With all my heart, I DON'T RECOMMEND this place.

Had a really terrible experience here. There was only one doctor and I waited for two hours before I was seen. The doctor prescribed me the wrong dosage of medicine for my illness (I figured it out doing my own research). I had him to let him know and he said he would fax the pharmacy a new prescription. He never faxed the new prescription so I had to go back to their location personally to get one. They filled out the prescription incorrectly the second time —writing one tablet a day instead of two— I had to wait again for the pharmacist to call their office to verify. Will never return back to Amsterdam tourist doctors. Really would like a refund for my visit. The doctor’s behavior is borderline negligent as he had three different opportunities to get my prescription right and he incorrectly wrote it all three times.

Great experience. We were a little leery about coming here after reading some of the bad reviews, so wanted to share the positive feedback. Highly recommended; every aspect of our visit was ideal: easy to get an appointment, excellent quality of care, and very reasonable cost. More details: my wife and I were in Amsterdam when some unexpected urgent medical attention was needed. Our concierge recommended Amsterdam Tourist Doctors and scheduled the appointment for us. When our schedule opened up, we were able to call and reschedule for an earlier slot (be patient waiting in the phone queue). The doctor was very thorough, an excellent communicator, and spent nearly a full hour with us. She also set up a referral to a local hospital, which we luckily didn't end up needing. And the cost was incredibly reasonable - €55.

Hey, who enjoys being sick, right? Especially while traveling! Amsterdam Tourist Doctors were easy to deal with and affordable. I made an appointment at night for the next day, had very little wait at the appointment, completed minimal paperwork, and was out in about twenty minutes. The doctor and the staff spoke very good English (as does everyone here, it seems) and I felt good about the care that I received. I needed a prescription, which they issued and directed me to a pharmacy less than ten minutes' walk away. All of this was very affordable --45 € for the doctor visit and 39 € for the prescription -- paid with a credit card -- so if you're accustomed to dealing with the US healthcare system, then don't let the thought of an unmanageable medical bill frighten you. HIGHLY recommended!

I’ve been seen here twice while on an extended work trip. The first visit was efficient and helpful, and I left feeling pleasantly surprised by the positive experience. However, I’ve just arrived for my next appointment and the receptionist/secretary was late unlocking the office and didn’t realize that I was already in their system (although it’s recorded when you make an appointment). There are also apparently some communication issues with the doctor about his schedule, so he’s gone out on house visits during my booked appointment time and I’m waiting here to be seen indeterminately. TL;DR one positive experience, one experience that’s already a bit of a shambles 6 minutes in. Quite a mixed bag. If you’re really ill, it’s probably better than nothing.

Extremely disappointed of service!!I arrived in medical central to make a blood test regarding my pregnancy. I went to see a doctor I told him that I had positive Pregnancy test and I would like to do a blood test to figure out my blood level If I need to take any additional vitamins. He replied that they do blood test only on weekdays so I have to return another day. Appointment took no longer than 3min. No additional information provided.. He asked me go with him to reception because he will give me a phone number to book a new appointment on Monday or other weekday for blood test and he has charged me €95 for no any consultation! Left with knowing that blood test is available only on weekdays without knowing how many weeks pregnant I’m.

After presenting to the emergency department in Amsterdam due to vomiting and having diarrhoea for around 16 hours, the nurses were quite rude and quick to essentially send us away and say it was covid, despite concerns being raised that essential medications were not being kept down. However, thankfully they did point us in the direction of Doctor Faloun. Doctor Faloun was incredible! He made his way to the hotel that we were staying in, did a quick check on my physical observations, and then provided medications suitable for the situation. I felt significantly better afterwards and we cannot thank the doctor enough. Had it not been for him, we might have had to book a later plane and pay extra for the hotel. Thank you again! :)

My VERY first night in Amsterdam I was washing a wine glass in the sink and it broke while my hand was scrubbing the inside of it, thus creating a huge gash in my hand. I came in the next day without an appointment once realizing that I definitely needed stitches. They fit me right in (because of the nature of my injury) and took care of me. The staff was very kind and attentive. The guy who stitched my hand called himself Nick. Very funny, straight forward and thorough. People need to remember that these providers are giving you a service. It is not their fault if the pharmacy is stocked, or you had to wait because you didn't make an appointment. Overall, I appreciate them a lot. And only 50 Euros later my hand is doing great!

  • Kornelia S

I went there after waiting one week for appointment and my pain pass till that moment but I have spend week with no move in my bed, get information that any time that pain will be back I have to call and I will be accepted immediately - was trying to call whole Saturday, manage to speak with doctor (I describe me being in huge pain and whole case) and he said he will call me later - he called me after one hour from his car just to tell me I called wrong number! So I spend another day in huge pain and didn't manage to get appointment and my condition is getting worse ans worse, im expat here, don't have anyone here so was really hoping to get help...

  • Chikelue Oji

I came here after having recently moved here. I informed them that I will claim the expenses that I make from my health insurance company once my health insurance becomes ready, that I am not a tourist. I was shocked to discover that the pharmacy (Leidsestraat Apotheek B.V.) that they referred me to charged me approximately 97.80% more than the usual price of the prescription which the insurance company refused to pay for. Having reached out to the pharmacy as advised by my insurance company, they have refused to respond. Apart from the above bitter experience, the experience with the doctors and staff here was awesome.

  • Don Gunn

Went in with a fever and ear infection, was told I have the Flu and a sinus infection. I did not have the Flu, Was Prescribed Ibuprofen powder loaded with Sorbitol and Aspartame and Otrivin nasal spray, which I had an immediate allergic reaction to! I was covered head to toe in a rash. Not sure why I was not given antibiotics. The process felt rushed and I did not get the correct medication for my issue. My flight home was miserable and I had to go to the DR at home ASAP. 2 stars for being seen promptly. proceed with caution.

  • Agent 47 (Top G)

I completely agree with all 1 star reviews about this place. Total joke of a doctor could even be bothered. Clearly not interested in patient care. After 4 minutes i was told my time was up. Seriously. Just told sorry we are short staffed. Absolutely terrible. Doctor has clearly given up on care. Please avoid this place if you can. I will also take the time to file a formal complaint and ask that everyone else who is unfortunate enough to use this place to do the same. If enough people complain maybe they will improve.

  • Devon Greene

I had a fantastic experience today. I was hesitant to visit this practice because of the negative reviews here but after checking their positive reviews on Doctena, I decided to go. I'm very happy I did, the doctor was incredibly kind and patient. She was engaged, clearly knowledgeable, and empathetic. I did not feel rushed at all. She not only addressed what I came for but also provided suggestions that I think will prove quite helpful. The wait time was quite short and the facilities are very clean.

  • S. Lee

We wasted close to 4 hours here. The people running this place give poor, or rather, no proper information. It was only when we came in 2 hours early to sit and wait for our appointment that we were told we needed to take a Covid test. So we went to the pharmacy to get a test kit. We tested positive and continued waiting outdoors for our appointment for 1hour+, only to be told that we can just go home if we're positive. Should have told us that 4 hours ago. Total waste of time due to lousy info.

  • Isabel Pullman

Worst experience. I have tonsillitis, it got really bad so I make an appointment. When I get there turns out they’re only seeing tourists that day. I offered to pay. The uncaring receptionist said it didn’t matter. Denying someone medical care is horrendous especially when the waiting room was empty, I was visibly sick and they made no mention of this “policy” when I booked. Avoid. Edit: I actually had glandular fever and ended up being admitted to hospital. So even further recommend avoiding.

  • Sagal Ali

Although the Doctor was nice and friendly and there was no wait, I feel there was a lack of empathy shown by the Doctor I saw. I fell on my head and was experiencing pains and he seemed to think it was humorous as I fell off a bike. I understand that my case might not have been very serious but it would've been good to have a bit more empathy and less shrugs from him. Also, some treatment or coping mechanisms to deal with my pain was what patients want and wasn't given in this case.

  • Megan Binkley

I am a US expat living in the Netherlands and was recommended this office for non-emergency services. I made an appointment online and the appointment time was honored within 15 minutes. Doctor and staff were professional and friendly. I would go back here again. I don't have Dutch insurance so the visit was rather pricey (90 euros), but worth it. The office also gave me the proper paperwork to submit the costs for reimbursement to my International insurance.

  • Hany El Haridy

Worst experience ever. Very rude service, I really doubt if anyone there studied medicine and knows patient care. Arrived 7 minutes late to a doctor’s appointment (nothing is mentioned in the confirmation email about arriving X minutes before). Was told I can’t see a doctor now and need to reschedule and was told by nurse that ‘our patients arrive on time’ talked down to by the doctor and the nurse. Worst medical service I’ve seen. Tourist trap!! Don’t go

  • Clare Higgins

A really good place if you're traveling and in a bind medically. They charge 45 euro for an appointment during the week, 90 during the weekends, so go on a weekday if you can. Then they give you all necessary paperwork to reclaim what you've paid from your insurance back home. They were kind, professional, and there was no language barrier. Really helped me when I needed a prescription but wouldn't be home for weeks -- would definitely recommend.

  • Ella Donlevy-Morrison

The ladies in reception and nurses are so, so lovely, but the short male doctor was a rude, unhelpful cretin who refused to adequately provide birth control without a note from a previous doctor. Ironic for such a liberal country. His bedside manner is atrocious and he refused to let me discuss more than one issue, despite the issue being really rather critical, due to “time”, despite only being in the office for 4 mins of a 15 min time slot.

  • Judith Lasker

The google search results showed me this place with good reviews and said open 24 hours and "open today", so I went there Sunday morning, only to learn that the site is actually open only during the week. There is a 24 hour phone number, but that was not helpful to me without a local phone. So, a big disappointment. It is clear from the website what the hours are, so I guess I should have checked there first and not relied on Google.

  • Jodie

I would highly recommend this practice as they were extremely helpful, efficient and friendly. I was seen practically straight away and the student and main doctor were thorough in the discussion of my symptoms and the tests carried out to diagnose my problem. Going to the doctors isn’t nice for anyone, especially when you are in a foreign country, but all the staff here made me feel very much at ease.

  • John Morris

What a great experience. I don't know if this is always the case, but I walked in with no appointment and saw the doctor almost immediately. A great young doctor, very pleasant. They performed an exam, processed a blood analysis right there in the office, and got me the answers and advice I needed. Very reasonable fee. As others have said, I wish it were that easy seeing my regular doc at home!

  • tax lootgieter

Booked an appointment on the 27th of April 2022, which is an holiday in the Netherlands. They confirmed the appointment via email, I received another confirmation from Doctena via sms, I also called them to confirm if they were opened on that day, they said they were. And when I came they were closed. Very unprofessional, they cannot maintain a planning, and unreliable, they cannot be reach.

  • Vaibhav Malik

I went to them 3 times about my sudden bald patches on head and the guy constantly shrugged me off telling me its nothing. Finally saw a dermatologist after I consulted another clinic and guess what I have alopecia areata, one of the most common autoimmune disorder as the dermatologist told me and they couldn't recognize that??? Is your clinic only there to deal with common cold and bruises?

  • Pamela Horner

Amsterdam Tourist Doctors provided me with prompt, professional, excellent service. They performed a lab test, analyzed it, and Dr. Nick saw me to discuss my issue -- all within 20 minutes. The price was affordable and. they gave me directions to a closely pharmacy that filled my prescription without waiting. I highly recommend this excellent service to anyone visiting Amsterdam.

  • Yelena Gautier

Worst reception desk ever. Rude, gives wrong information and is not eager to help whether you are healthy or not. They let you take appointment online without checking if it's possible for you to be helped by one of their doctors. You end up going to your appointment (sick) and being rejected because of "the system". I don't recommend at all, especially for expats who need a GP.

  • danni Keating

Booked an appointment online, went in for my appointment totally unaware of the “consultation fee” as it was not mentioned on the website. I’m a study abroad student with international health insurance that I paid for through my program so I was shocked that I had an out of pocket fee. During my appointment, I received zero medical advice and lasted less than 5 minutes.

  • Bob Haas

I want to thank the doctors who dedicated their medical practice and time to provide an affordable clinic for tourists and expats. I hope there will be more affordable medical clinics around the world for tourists and locals. Thank you again for being so friendly and through with your patients. I can't wait for the expansion of their medical team! Keep it going!

  • Paula Marino

I had the best experience at Amsterdam Tourist Doctors. I am so grateful I was able to get the care needed in the middle of my vacation. I booked my appointment online and I was able to come in the next day. The staff was super helpful. The doctor was great and knowledgeable. I got the prescription needed and I got to continue with my trip :)

  • H E

My friend and I had visited Amsterdam for the weekend but my friend needed medication after falling ill unexpectedly. After 1 phone call I was able to speak to the doctor and pick up a prescription of the medication within an hour. He was very efficient and it was a third of the price quoted from the hotel for a doctor to come to the hotel.

  • Elise S

Amazing! Fantastic! The staff is extremely kind, helpful, and informative. They go out of their way to assist both new and established patients. I am impressed by their courtesy and professionalism. They are very accessible and maintain reasonable prices for health services. I highly recommend Amsterdam Tourist Doctors! Thank you so much!

  • Hagara ben yishay

Had a really good experience, as much that one can have when he find himself not feeling well during vacation. Ive found the clinic after Google search for a "tourist doctor in Amsterdam", saw the good reviews and book an appointment throw the clinic web site. The doctor and staff were super nice and helpful. The price was good and fair.

  • Lisa Pa

I had a lovely time with the lovely and beautiful (they asked me to say that haha)ladies at the reception. Anyway seriously, it was fantastic to have ATd nearby where we are staying as it is convenient and reasonably priced. Doctor Morris is also very reassuring and good listener. Overall a good medical practice for tourist!

  • Michelle Reynolds

Excellent experience here. Made an appointment easily online the evening before. No waiting time for the scheduled appointment. The doctor was thorough and really made my mom feel better. No hidden fees and the prescription was quick and easy to handle. Highly recommend this for visitors to Amsterdam if in need.

  • Simone R ‘Sunny’

One of the doctors here literally saved my life after being cautious and doing an ECG. I ended up in an ambulance and went straight into theater for a heart operation. I am forever grateful to Dr Fauloun (sorry for the spelling!) for not only taking the time with me but for the enormous empathy he demonstrated.

  • Chirag Patel

Woke up in Amsterdam with loss of hearing and blocked sinuses. I found this place through google and was really impressed. The doctor saw me straight away and was very friendly and caring and helped me with my issue.thank you! Highly recommended if you have any problems while in Amsterdam!

  • Hannah Kim

I had a serious skin problem. The doctor and the physician assistant were professionals. They were very nice and knowledgeable. They prescribed a medicine and cream which worked very well. Now my skin problem is gone. Thank you very much Amsterdam Tourist Doctors.

  • Kirka Fin

Never go to any doctor in Netherlands especially if you are tourist. They don't know how to treat people. They can only give you PARACETAMOL and you gonna pay a lot for the visit. Better if you buy paracetamol without going doctor and save some money

  • Marie H

I came there Monday morning with no appointment (usually you should book it online) and was examined not even 5 min after I arrived. The questions the assistant and the GP asked were evidence of their expertise. All staff members were very obliging.

  • Nick Tetteroo

Called them up making an appointment for my ear to be cleaned out. Expecting my ear to be cleaned after the session. The person whose meant to do it is to busy.... Back in my own country it wouldn't be this disorganised. Felt like I've been scammed

  • udorota

I have visited the tourist hospital several times with employees who have an EKUZ card. They are admitted without any problems and there is no charge for the visit. The doctors are very helpful and caring. I highly recommend it.

  • Albert Bosch

I went visiting two times. Today I was cut and even on Saturday, they did not make me wait a lot. Dr. Elbay sewed the injury. He was super nice and make me feel really comfortable. I did not feel any pain. I recommend it.

  • Astha Patel

My diabetic father needed prescription meds on a Saturday. Went to the location and they charged 100 euros instead of the 65 euros charge that was expected as stated on their website. Reason being, “it was a Saturday”.

  • Chris Ta

Doctor Rachel was so kind and patient with me while I was in very sore pain today and gave me the best care and instructions. She had a great bedside manner. I appreciated this clinic for the help. Thank you

  • carey bluhm

I got through within minutes. Was I unusually lucky? The doctor immediately prescribed antibiotics which I could pick up at nearby pharmacy. Payment had to be online. Foreign sim cards don't help there....

  • Lindsay Bonk

Reception was very kind. Doctor was also patient and eager to help. Not sure about these negative reviews but had a pleasant experience and was in and out within 30 min. Pharmacy is just a 7 min walk away.

  • R Wat

Great experience, very friendly staff. My husband and I loved the music playing in the lobby. Dr Rachel was very friendly and thorough when exaiming and put my mind at ease to enjoy the rest of our stay.

  • Charles Lichliter

Totally recommend, the Dr. was great. Getting sick on vacation is rough . This place fixed me up, got me going again and was surprisingly inexpensive. This was on a Saturday...was able to avoid the ER.

  • Kartik Gajria

I had a clogged ear which the Doctor's treated really well. As a tourist you want to goto a clinic you can trust...This is the place for any medical necessities. Very good service and not too costly.

  • Julian Heller

Great doctors office I just had to call and they gave me an appointment for 30 minutes later. The doctor was nice and professional and I didn't have to wait for even a minute. Better than at home!
