I highly recommend the EMC and truly do not understand why the center has received negative reviews! All was excellent: from accommodating admin assistants and waiting time at the clinic to doctor's expertise and follow-up calls, etc. (results indicated I’d best go to the ER and they called all day until they reached me!). I'm flabbergasted to read one bad review about the EMC, let alone more. Everybody at the clinic was friendly, polite, and professional - people greeting me with a smile from intake to blood work - and the doctor intently listened, showed empathy, and was genuinely concerned about my condition. The one I saw was clearly knowledgeable (I have an uncommon, systemic condition, thus seen plenty and, believe me, many doctors have never heard about it, whereas EMC’s MD knew the ins-and-outs). She extensively asked about my medical history and took everything into consideration when ordering blood work, and, just to be safe, some additional checks. As I saw them on a Thursday, lab results would likely come in on Monday, however, they requested a “rush” order and I got the results the same day! As mentioned above, the EMC staff called all afternoon until they reached me with the advice to go to the ER asap. In sum: I highly recommend the EMC! I will not hesitate to schedule another appointment if need be when I'll be in town next year. Before jumping to a conclusion, I'd advise anybody looking at reviews to invest a little extra time to read all/some of the good ones too - as those provide more insight into the practice compared to most of the bad ones. You can quickly see that the vast majority of the folks who wrote those one-star reviews do not go into detail at all. In my book, two-word reviews aren’t really "reviews,” as nobody - neither future patients nor the clinic staff itself - benefits from reading (at most) one- or two-sentence rants. Some of the reviewers only write "Horrible!" or rate the clinic worst possible due to an hour-long wait even though they mention service was "excellent." Now, how does that help a sick person who needs to quickly decide which practice to call? If you're not waiting forever and a day, then, in my opinion, a review should only address doctors’ expertise/medical practice. Personally, I don't understand why somebody wouldn't be willing to wait an hour for an excellent doctor when sick enough to seek out help while on holiday?(!). I've done so many times at my top-10 U.S. rated hospital/doc's office and am never upset. I'd rather be heard and looked at properly, instead of pushed out of the door in 15, cus the clock’s ticking and Doc.MD needs to see 4 patients an hour (as some clinics in the U.S. do). Frankly, all those angry tot-like one-liners mimic the behavior of The Orange Tweeter currently “in charge” of the country where I've been living going on 20 years (as a Dutch native). At any rate, a patient looking for a doctor has no insight into whether or not any of those uninformative, one-star "reviews" might be valid. Moreover, the clinic manager/team cannot address complaints/improve certain aspects either (on the other hand, when e.g., several patients have submitted a descriptive complaint about one and the same issue, they might be able to fix a problem they were unaware of). Instead, however, the curt patients submitted comments such as: "Worst experience of my life! Avoid at all cost/should not practice! Unprofessional/rude people!" In addition, a few are apparently upset about a "lack of service." Well, I suppose there's a range of what kind of service a patient expects when sick enough to seek out a doctor on vacation but it's neither a 5-star hotel nor The Love Boat people, where Isaac is on stand-by 24/7 to hand you a stiff dry martini to help wash down Doc’s anti-nausea meds and sedatives! The EMC certainly is an extremely busy, professional practice and its employees clearly work very hard to accommodate Amsterdam's expats and sick tourists best way they can.
WORST EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE THEY PLAY WITH THE HELTH OF PEOPLE! 1. I went asking for help because I was feeling dizzy and had very low pressure. They told me they had no time and I should make an appointment. They did not care if I fade in the door or anything. 2. I made the appointment and went back days later. The doctor send me to do blood test. A secretary extracts your blood. They don't even wash their hands. 3. I send an emaik to ask for my results. They said they did not had exams from me. I had payed 80 euros for it. I insisted and they did not replay my emails. I called and did not picked up my call. I went back to the location to ask. A very rude secretary told me they will send me the results the next day. I asked why she could not say that on the email. The unpleasant woman said she was bussy. 4. Next day I asked again by emaik for the results. They said again they did not know what studies I was talking about. I insisted and they called me to apologize because they had confused and never analized the sample. They asked me to go again to get a blood extraction. I did. 5. They told me if I had the blood extraction they would send me the results by email in 2 days and so I did the test. 6. Hours later they send an email telling me they wanted me to pay for another 80 euros if I wanted the email with the results I had already payed and for which I had to wxtract blood twice. THIS PLACE SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED TO PRACTICE MEDICINE
I found a significant regression compared to previous years which really left me perplexed. First of all, my referring doctor is practically never, never available and i already find this an anomaly. It happens so often that i get placed with other doctors every time. And i would also be fine, if i noticed a certain competence at least, with those who visit me, and today i have to admit that it was quite embarrassing. I basically went wasting my time without getting any solution or advice or even a possible cure. I saw so much uncertainty and difficulty in explanation and also discomfort because they didn't know what to tell me. So much that at certain point, i was the one who cut the conversation short and decided to leave because that conversation really made no sense. If the situation continues like this i will change my practice because it is not possible to have good medical support and health security in this way. Last note, after the visit, i felt the need to use the bathroom. I understand that it also depends on the people who use it but since it is not in a service station but in a doctor's office...i believe that hygiene must be more adequate because it was not clean and there was a terrible smell of pee. I hope there will be an improvement soon. Because today was pretty disappointing.
Unfortunately I can’t recommend this place. I’ve been here for about a year and came with several different issues (some physical, some psychological). When making a phone appointment they NEVER call you within the 1-hour time window that the receptionist gave you. This happened at least three times. They call either way earlier or way later. I think one hour is a reasonable time window to call me when where is a set appointment, especially when you consider that when I was there for an in-person appointment they always made sure not to run over the 10 minutes. However my worst experience was when I came with psychological issues. I had mentioned the symptoms several times over the time span of a year to this specific doctor and they have been mostly ignored. When things really got out of hand and I was already on sick leave for it I still didn’t feel taken seriously at all. The bottom line of this doctor was “go home and treat yourself”, she didn’t give me any advise/help/support on the Dutch mental health care system or what to do next, even though I was clearly in distress (crying). After I left I felt even worse than I did before because I didn’t feel helped and supported at all. Do not go there with psychological problems!
Our family has been going to this practice for over two years now and finally have had enough. The medical care is average; most appointments go smoothly, although it depends which doctor we see. During one for my toddler, we were treated so poorly and rudely by the doctor that I filed a complaint. Compounding our general lack of ease at this clinic is the outrageous and continued behavior of one of the receptionists, Cindy. Every time I've encountered her, she's treated someone terribly, including telling a family who was waiting that they were taking up too many seats in the waiting room, cutting multiple people off mid-sentence both on the phone and in person, with impatient remarks like "Can't you SEE how busy I am here?", and reluctance to answer any question that involves more than a five-second answer with compassion. It may be fine for tourists, as they never have to return, but international residents of the city (who the clinic says they specialize in) are better off finding a high quality Dutch huisarts in their neighborhood.
To all people looking for a doctor to go to, please avoid this center at all costs. I recently had a medical issue that required I go to the hospital at 2AM in the morning, following which I went to get an ultrasound to see what was going wrong. The ultrasound did not find anything so I was informed to contact the practitioner who had sent me to get the ultrasound (Expat Medical Center) for next steps. Here is where the problems begin. I have been trying to get in touch with for more than 2 weeks and it is impossible. They have the detailed results of my ultrasound but do not answer my emails. When you call you're put into an eternal waiting line for 45 minutes before the line just shuts off. Showing up at the center has been no help either. I am now seeking medical help elsewhere, but it's actually quite scary to think that this medical center doesn't bother to follow up with me on an issue that sent me to the emergency room. If it is medical attention you are looking for, this is not the place.
Edit: I've just noticed this is the same company but different clinic. I went to the central station clinic and can't delete this post. Wish I'd read the reviews before wasting my time and energy on this place. Despite emailing and booking for a test I need to have, when I arrived for my appointment today I was told they didn't have the right equipment to perform it. Given my medical history some compassion from someone supposedly in the care profession would have been nice. I've been incredibly nervous waiting to have the test only to be left alone in a room whilst I heard the staff ransacking the place then told I'll have to come back another time. Never mind that I already took time off work to come there! Totally unprofessional environment! Left to wait for 30 mins after my scheduled time, despite arriving 15 mins before. Also the room I was expected to have the test in was half examination room half staff dining. Literally had dirty cups on the side! STAY AWAY! I won't be returning!
Bad doctors!!!! I don't know where they take them from, but are really unprofessional, it is supposed that a doctor knows and help you not that they don't want to help you, and as one of the female doctor told me : "I am doing you a favor to let you do this exam" they don't do a favor, they are there to help, health is not a money related thing, otherwise go to work in bank but don't be a doctor. I have been registered there for years, I wanted to change before but during Covid I could not find another studio that accepted new patients, so I stayed. But really the worse "service' ever, there was a nice doctor, a French one, who was really helpful and friendly, but unfortunately she is not there anymore. If you need an exam be aware of statistic, cause otherwise if the average age to do a specific test is 50 and you are 30 they don't let you at least you insist. Only nice employees are the receptionist / nurse but for the rest, best avoid that studio, and the central station one as well.
Really sad experience. Sorry to write.. I waited more than 30 min one time even I had an appointment, and couldn't see the psychologist that day. Another day, also I got the phone from the psychologist because I didn't show up in the meeting. but that was also mistake from the system or something. And I didn't hear the any apology from the phone at this time.. What I can know through these two experiences, it looks like it's really fine for them to make mistakes. (And I went this building three times, only had phone meetings before) And during the treatments, I couldn't think I was being understood and encouraged . I was hurted.. I felt there was some words without enough concern. So sad. So sorry to write like this .. I hope no one got hurted their mind from this review, and hope this is just my misunderstanding.. Hope this place will have warm interest and empathy in the future. I just hope the people working here and coming here will have warm enough time in the future, not like me..
To be honest, the clinic is not as bad as most of comments described here. I was also a bit concerned before I visited it. The environment is clean (maybe they did improve it in the past few months?) and the doctor was helpful and efficient. You might have to wait a bit even you made an appointment. However, Hey! Let's be neutral that it's better the doctors spend more time on the patient and diagnose him/her thoroughly when it is necessary than trying to be punctual all the time. The doctor was really kind and professional when she was listening to me and gave me quite some good advices. Overall, it was not a bad choice for people who have European insurance card instead of Dutch insurance. The only thing I'm not satisfied with is the location... It's near by Anne Frank's house and that makes it hard to cycle there without risking at hitting some tourists who walk on cycling lane..especially when you are sick and find it hard to stay concentrate.
NEVER AGAIN COME BACK ⛔ Have service experience from mart 2022, together with Doc. E.Cambridge. Because have accident in the workplace and also another in the city. Only after 6 month in 09.2022 have last answer diagnosis. Also I am not sure if that Doctor official save diagnosis in Data basic history if his not only talked and not doing sometimes. With medicament support also been before long time I am weiting 1 months after First Appointment. I think to match Long time ago now. Also I don't like about Patients' Rights not understand why doesn't it respectful. Because after 1 my visit in Expat Medical Center later in the same week another people together with 1 Stoelenproject Administrator talking about my health my private visit discussi with Expat Medical Center Administrator. In this way, the patient's right to Privacy and Confidentiality is violated. For me that support not good ⛔ Be very careful with that slow service
I already posted an extensive review under their Amsterdam Central location, but it wouldn't do justice to skip this one. They care about you, their psychologists are qualified and accessible when you are in need. Their GP's wont stop sending refferals until you get to a specialist when your health is in danger (I had traumatic injury after an accident, and on top of it neurological issues). They care about you even if you are stopping-by as a tourist (even though they know they won't see you ever again, or earn big money from your insurance). Yes, they are overbooked but that's Dutch healthcare. If you can't reach them on the phone, please use their online booking and check each doctor. Also, check Amsterdam Central for availability (sometimes doctors are there as well). when you pass by the office or send a friend to do so - they always find a solution. I owe them that my brain works today and that I'm alive. thank you!
Simply don't go to this clinic. Been once and worst ever. Waited for 1 hour although I had a scheduled appointment. Afterwards the receptionist gave me a paper telling how to come over depression and told me to go back home and take it easy (?). The Doctor hasn't even seen me!!! Anyway, it turns out they mixed up my appointment for physiology with psychology. They didn't even apologize. Then, I met the lady doctor and when I asked her to provide me a referral for physiotherapy showing my MRI results (required for my insurance coverage), the lady constantly kept telling me that I don't need a referral for physio in NL. I get it, but I need it for my international insurance!!! No capacity of understanding. No capacity of communication. They don't even have a stamp... How come you don't have a stamp? Is this a joke? I wonder how it is regulated in the Netherlands, but it is a shame. Complaints should be sent to officials...
My experience with Dr. Cambridge and this practice couldn't have been better. Came down with a nasty bug a week ago - it kept getting worse. Yesterday (Fri) it morphed into conjunctivitis too - could barely see. Called this center after hours and spoke with Dr. Cambridge who agreed to see me early this morning. Exam went quickly, he confirmed I had a sinus infection, respiratory infection and conjunctivitis, wrote me the appropriate prescriptions and told me where to fill them on a Saturday. Also wrote a note to enable me to fly back home a day or two later. Cost of the exam - 90 EU. Very reasonable vs. the U.S., and on a SATURDAY and no waiting. Thought Dr. Cambridge was very capable and I appreciated how responsive he was. When you're traveling and you get sick, it can be challenging to figure out another country's healthcare system. I feel very fortunate to have found this center.
I’m still a patient of this clinic because of the Dr. Camoglio, very well prepared GP, otherwise I would have changed for another clinic. This morning I had an issue that requires the consultancy of the doctor (dr. Camoglio told me last time to go to the clinic as soon as this issue had appeared again) so I’ve try to call: I’ve waited for 1 hour on the phone and nobody picked up. I’ve sent an email but no reply. It’s very difficult having health issue in this country. It’s not the first time I struggle to have an appointment. I also have to complain about the really bad manners of another doctor that I had the unfortunate chance to meet during the absence of Dr. Camoglio: a women very unpleasant and rude. I also confirm the bad hygiene condition of the clinic and the fact that that rude lady doesn’t even wash her hands before the blood collection.
Really strange practice. The first doctor I had hardly knew anything and a second doctor had to come in to supervise. One of the receptionists is very loud, rowdy and rude to the point where she was asked to be quiet by one of the doctors during an appointment. Patients are not allowed to wait in the waiting room in the lunch break because the receptionists 'want to talk without worrying'. Don't call them because they'll tell you to email and won't reply, even if it's urgent. I had my prescription faxed to the wrong pharmacy twice and received no apology whatsoever even though I had wasted a lot of time. I'm still waiting on a reply to my email. I also just waited on hold for 20 minutes and then had the receptionist being really rude to me and loudly sighing over the phone.
A piece of advice for those who go to Expatmc, do not make an appointment with Dr. W Waarnemer, she is the main reason for all the negative reviews described here, after the appointment you will leave with the same complaints that led you to go there in the first place plus a lot of anger caused by the lack of professionalism and sympathy on her part. She would help a lot more people in another career instead of being a doctor; in fact, she's a disgrace to the word doctor. The clinic should really consider firing Dr. W Waarnemer; this would without a doubt improve the patient-doctor relationship as well as the clinic's reviews, as there are good doctors and staff working there.
Mixed reviews of this place - they are helpful enough for minor needs, IF YOU CAN CONTACT THEM. This is impossible via phone (endless waiting that ends in...nothing. which results extreme frustration), and you cannot submit for an appointment online unless you are a registered patient (the website does not say this...you will just constantly think that you are messing up something minor on the form, such as your own birthday). It's inconvenient to go in person, considering people have lives and work, but I recommend going in person to get an appointment if you are able. This is the only way. Not AT ALL ideal, but afterwards they are moderately helpful.
This clinic is very far to be professional. The place has not the common requirements that a medic studio should have, The clinic is not clean, is untidy, there are full garbage bins everywhere, and not even a chair for the patients. About the doctor, she was totally unprofessional. The appointment was delayed, and I had to wait more than one hour to be attended. Above all, what it seems unacceptable to me is that I haven't been checked at all by her, and the consultation ended with the doctor ASKING ME which medicine she should have prescribed to me. Unfortunately this expat center is not the resource you were looking and paying your insurance for.
Would give negative stars if I can. Absolutely horrendous experience at this place of hell. First the receptionist tried to give me a diagnosis because the doctors were busy. When I insisted to see a professional they gave me to an intern who knew nothing. When I eventually did see a doctor she gave me pills that didn’t work and I had to return in a week just to be told to “go home and rest”. Still got charged €50 just for those 4 words. Also got a blood test of which the result never returned. Another €200. Patients are a joke to them. They just want to milk as much as they can from expats because they think we won’t know any better.
Worst medical centre I have visited. No medical professionals available. Went for a simple blood test and nobody could extract blood apparently even if they tried poking me leaving both my arms covered in bruises and damaging nerves on one side. One person in particular was extremely rude and inappropriate as they violently pushed me against a chair, without permission nor apologising after. This centre shouldn't be legally qualified as such. Dangerous and unqualified personnel. Waiting time over 1h after having an appointment time and nobody picks up the phone. The physical space is dirty and with dampness everywhere.
I have some very scary and painful symptoms and I just registered with this doctor. They were able to see me quickly on the same day. When I arrived the doctor actually listened and then explained what she thought the problem might be. She also did a quick exam. My last doctor did none of those things. She also helped me get an appointment with a specialist within 3 days to bypass the usual 5 week wait my old doctor was making me deal with. I will be back for my follow up for sure. This has been the best huisarts experience I've had in The Netherlands in the past 4 years.
If possible go there your self! The call option is not so good option. Couple times I had to call over there and were rude service. Medicine that I'm supposed to get in pharmacy with a phone call when I run out of it, this phone assistant said that you can get your medicine in pharmacy in 2 working days if you are lucky. ..! Luck shouldn't have nothing to do with that. She informs the doctor and it's there immediately. But hey this section is just for that. And after 50 people complaining about the same problem and they still let this messed up people answer the phone...
This practice is the worst! I've been here three times, three times I saw a different doctor. The rest of the staff also changed. Three times I had to wait 45-60 minutes despite having an appointment. The waiting room is a mess, and so are the examination rooms. It looks like a basement trying to look like a medical practice. If you're an expat and you think this is your only choice, go see another doctor for the sake of your nerves and health. Other general practitioners in Amsterdam speak English as well, probably better than the ones I've seen here.
Do yourself a favor and don't go to this clinic, unless is really an emergency. After being a patient there for a few months they managed to loose all the analysis I had done and lie about it. After calling myself the Reinier de Graaf lab with whom they work I was able to trace back one of the samples. To discover that there was a mistake made by the Expat Medical Center. Which they didn't correct even after sending them several emails. The French doctor really didn't know what she was doing. Seriously disadvise this clinic!
PROBABLY THE WORST Medical Clinic in Amsterdam. It’s practically impossible to contact them: when you call you are placed in an eternal queue and you are lucky if you wait 45-60min before talking to someone. They’ve added a new platform on their website through which you can take appointments and make use of other services. The only problem is that they do not verify your profile once you sign up and you cannot use it. Totally useless. Via email is no difference, waiting for days for a reply. Avoid it at all costs!!!
very dodgy place, not really clean, nor professional looking. the ladies from the reception were very rude, talking to each other in dutch about how they should not treat me anymore, because it was late, and they should make me come back the next day, that after waiting for 40 min past my appointment to see the doctor. Doctor who just asked me what treatment I think I want, which is not what a doctor should do, in my opinion. So if you have a different option, don't go to this place, weirdest medical experience ever.
Great doctor. Good service. Perfect location. I used to come to Amsterdam for work, and had to see Dr. Cambridge a couple of times for different issues. Moved here last year, and I chose to keep coming here when in need of help. In my opinion Dr. Cambridge is excellent. I experienced a receptionist once that must have had a bad day, but I don't thinks she is even there any more. I am very satisfied with this medical clinic, and I plan to keep on coming here in the years ahead. This clinic is better than most imo.
It sucks to get sick while you are travelling and it is not fun trying to figure out where to go and what to do. Anyway, we were lucky to find this clinic. It looked different from a walk-in clinic in Canada in the sense that it was kind of small and maybe a bit informal (the doctor for example was carrying her stuff such as otoscope in a brief case) but the overall experience was very satisfactory. The examination was very thorough and the recommended treatment helped us get through the rest of our trip.
The worst medical center I've ever been to. I was registered here for 1,5 year during which they have lost my blood samples on numerous occasions, they replied to my appointment scheduling requests only after 5 days. The staff that was trying to take my blood samples was totally untrained - to the point that they could not strap a tourniquet around my arm and they stuck a needle into my forearm 3 times before they hit a vein. I never got any reply to my formal complain about this.
Very bad experience, the doctors don't even check you or look at you, they seem to not care at all, the appointment last less then five minutes and I have been asked which kind of medicine and blood test I wanted to make, because they had no idea. When finally they prescribe me something because I asked to my doctor in Italy they even wrote a wrong prescription so I was not able to get the medice at the pharmacy. PLEASE AVOID THIS PLACE IF YOU CARE ABOUT YOUR HEALTH.
I appreciate Dr Cambridge's quiet patience and concern for his patients. I completely trust his expertise and knowledge. I have been a patient here for many years and although it is sometimes busy, (so assistants can seem rushed), I know I will always get seen. I am not sure I could get same day appointments in the UK, like I did today at Bloemgracht! My only concern - I think a disabled toilet should be fitted. Otherwise I would have given 5 stars.
My husband and I were registered here for 2.5years. They were the only doctor in Amsterdam willing to have us, despite our distance from their practice. They have always been helpful and quick to action with referrals to specialists/hospital. Mostly they are very very busy because I think many expats had the same problem we did when it came to finding a doctor and they don’t turn anyone away. They are also almost always open - really great hours.
DO NOT GO HERE The assistants are extremely rude and the doctors are incompetent. The waiting times are often over an hour even with an appointment. The doctor will literally start googling your symptoms in front of you. At one point they mixed up my test results with somebody else's and told me I was very sick. What I got upset and contacted the doctor they didn't even apologize. I have no idea how this place can legally stay open.
My wife needed antibiotics for a sinus infection while we were on vacation in Amsterdam. We used the email reservation system, which takes about 5 hrs to hear back from. We went ahead and just showed up prior to receiving the response and got into a doc within one hr. The people are very nice and helpful in the midst of a lot of variety of patients and illnesses. We got our prescriptions filled two blocks away without any issues.
I have visited this practice as a patient 3 times now and on each occasion I have been given an appointment the day that I have requested it, and I was given good and effective treatment. On one occasion my husband visited this practice and had to wait 1 hour, however the doctor was dealing with a medical emergency so I do believe that this is understandable. Only given it 4 stars as the waiting room could do with some updating.
Due to my lack of understanding in how the Dutch healthcare system works I went here because I thought it would be helpful for a newly relocated expat, unfortunately this practice is terrible, the practitioners do not seem to care or be interested in the patient, with cleanliness and professionalism null. I would suggest you avoid this place and try somewhere in which you are treated better and with more care. Avoid
Only good thing is you can get an appointment in few days other than that Doctors are not helpful, every symptom is common to them and they never heard of preventive care. Basically you have to get worse to get treatment. And don’t even think you can get a referral to a specialist without an argument. I would describe my appointment so far as exhausting. Too bad there is monitoring over the medical services in NL
Ridiculous practice. No serious help, No privacy! They would just ask me if I had unprotected sex and when, while being surrounded by other patients in the waiting room. Also, if you manage to get helped, they tend to just prescribe you tons of paracetamol -up to 12 pills per day, is this real??. Don't waste your time there and beware of the nasty woman with dreadlocks, especially if you're a girl!
Good client service. I had a prescription that needed to be refilled but I didn't want to bother with another doctor appointment because it was just prescription face cream. Diarra sent it over to the pharmacy same day and let me know it was waiting there. Also, I was double billed by the independent lab company they use (Reinier Graaf) and Zohra was helpful in sorting out the bills.
The medical staff OK (although the boss doctor was quite aloof) but the receptionist was hallucinatingly stupid. The ECG they did was sent to me by email: it turned out to be a blank PDF. When I requested a re-send, I was given an appointment for a phone consultation instead. They never rang. Still waiting for my ECG results. Ah, and they are infamous for never answering the phone.
Joined this clinic a couple of months. Had no problem booking an appointment over the phone and staff and doctor are all friendly and professional. I did have an issue with setting up online appointment booking as I needed to ask them to link my file to the app, but they dealt with it straightaway. The clinic itself is rather ramshackle and the waiting area needs refurbishing.
Have visited twice and now will never return. First time, the male doctor was super helpful, listened to me and just generally seemed to care about me. Second time, the woman could not have been more dismissive or cared any less. Seemed more interested in improving her English than diagnosing my condition. Will be going somewhere else due to this appalling "treatment".
The assistant Cindy, was excellent and helpful, she gave me great advice and recognized my condition, with her information I was able to find a specific type of doctor I needed to get well. She is very smart and intuitive. I don't know about the doctor, as I only had one appointment, and moved on to another type of specialist unrelated to this office. Thank you Cindy!
I used this clinic as sick tourist and stayed with them when I moved to Amsterdam. I was surprised to come across all the negative reviews, which I know might have put me off if I were I traveling and in need of a doctor. If that's your situation don't worry - I've had many appointments and they have always been caring and entirely competent with me.
The doctors are professionals and always help. However, the clinics are not reachable by phone or email. The waiting time is endless. Prescription not sent or is sent and the pharmacy can’t find it. Expat medical Center will then not send in another prescription. Been without medication for days because of this. Ridiculous!
Do NOT register with them! I was supposed to get the results of a lab test but they never came back to me. I called several times, emailed them and even visited the clinic in person to try to receive the results that were never provided. 1,5 month passed and still no news. I am pregnant and they put my health at risk
I think this practice is possible the worst practice you could encounter. They are disrespectful twards their patients. It’s impossible to get in touch with any of them as you have to wait in line for hours. They often have an unpleasant tone while communicating and their website is not functioning properly.
Late to appointments by an hour, incorrect information, not helping me when needed, bad technology making it difficult for them to register you, differing information from each practice resulting in mixed up appointments. It's a pity too because I desperately needed care as an ex pat during corona.
After three weeks of being told my son was fine, and gave him incorrect medicine also being told not to over react so much. My son has bronchitis and has an eye infection and both ears. Thankfully I found a new doctor and my son is recovering. This place should be closed by the Dutch Government.
I had an okay experience with this place but I had no choice in going to another medical center. I guess the only good thing about it was covered by my medical insurance. The consultation went okay and they were helpful treating my foot pain. I guess they deserve three out of five stars. Thanks.
Have a mixed experience with them. I was helped by their doctors in several occasions and I have to say they are all very nice and professional. A few months ago I had a lot of problems reaching them over the phone, which was very frustrating. Lately it seems things are a bit better though
Pretty much every time not a great experience... When calling to speak with somebody the lady on the phone sounded like she hated the job and didnt want to put any effort in it? 4 times out of 5 that i went with an appointment i got visited 40/45 min later then my actual appointment was
Very rude, not all of them but some GP, it feels like they are your enemies not someone that is trying to help you, not proffesional, lack of empathy, they are in a rush, barely listen to you, but as well you have to wait more than 30 minutes for your appointment, they are not punctual.
Everything that everyone else has said is true. Ridiculous waits when you have an appointment. Last time I was here they told me they put me down for 12pm (in an email so I didn’t misremember it) and the woman at the front desk told me it was actually at 2. How is this place still open?
Honestly the worst. I’ve seen TB and HIV clinics in rural areas that are better than this. Dirty, horrible bed side manner, and I would guess that the “doctors” here are not that qualified. Only go if it’s between dying and this, but you may catch an infection while you are here.
I had a really bad experience. The doctor there was unprofessional and asked me what kind of medicine should I take. I have some chronic pain and she "diagnozed" me without even taking a look. Plus she kept speaking in dutch... save your nerves and go somewhere else please.
Mmmm tricky experience... After reading reviews in here, wanted to check in loco, once it is in the neighborhood and should be close to that. They don't redirect you to a specialist, a cardiologist in my case, unless you are having a heart attack ... Weird and bizarre!!!!
Absolutely absurd waiting times on the phone. I have been trying to make an appointment for 3 days in a row and the waiting lines were extremely long. In the queue for almost an hour today and the phone gets disconnected. Big no-no guys, please get your service together.
Making an appointment is simply impossible. It's easier to get there than reach them by phone. I'm on the line for more than an hour, as usual, still no answer except for "please hold a line". The digital form also not working, they never reply. Their service is a joke.
I had such a positive experience here and am surprised at the negative reviews! I’m traveling and got pretty sick and was able to make an appointment in the morning for a few hours later. Was in and out in 20 min for the appointment and the staff was helpful and kind.
I am from the UK and due to a flight cancellation was without my medication for 4 days. We met Cindy at the desk and she was not only very efficient but extremely friendly and helpful. I was on a time constraint and she made sure I got seen quickly. Thank you so much!
Please don't go there. I had a really bad experience. They charged me a ridiculous amount of money and the service is really nothing special. I have the feeling that they live on the fact that a lot of expats don't know where to go and they screw you big time! Awful!
The receptionists are nice but the doctor was unprofessional. She didn't listen what I have said and what I needed. I have been sick for long time and my symptoms are being more serious. She didn't give me any medicine. And I was charged an enormous amount of money.
The doctors are okay, but it is IMPOSSIBLE to reach them by phone or email. I’ve been a patient for years and have asked them to sort this issue many times, but they’ve done absolutely nothing to fix it. Good luck getting any healthcare from these people! Absurd.
Will update with Pokéstop status in the future. Well it's about 60€ to get seen and you never know who you will see or if they'll be useful for your needs. The last doctor I had here literally made me sick because she came into work with a cold. Meh.
Doctor overcharged greatly (I am a doctor and familiar with billing). I needed to check one simple lab (potassium) and she refused to give me the results unless I returned (so that she can charge me again). And she was quite rude and unprofessional.
The staff treats people with no respect and they have the audacity to come late and then act all high mighty and disrespectful. They also told me that what I came in for was not needed and that I’m basically lying ab my condition….. ARE U FO REAL.
The doctors and reception staff are amazing. I had to be urgently seen and the staff were so professional, helpful and very kind. I’m a tourist so it can be very nerve wrecking to urgently require a doctor, but thank you to the amazing staff.
I have only had good experiences with this clinic with a few different doctors. I now go to the central’s clinic because it’s easier with my wheelchair. There is wheelchair parking next to the clinic. I’ve never waited more than 15 minutes.
The worst center ever, is the third day that I’m coming here, and they didn’t solve my problem AT ALL. They also told me that I need to come back this afternoon for a prescription and if I’m not satisfied I can go back to Italy. THE WORST.
The only time I wish 0 stars was possible. Been on hold for an 1 hour and 45 minutes to make an appointment. A service as terrible as it is ridiculous. If you're looking for a huisarts look elsewhere, if you're already a client get out.
If you are looking for any service this is not a place. Once I came with broken arm looking for help right at the clinic opening. But I was not even considered as I did not have an appointment. Receptionists are not patient at all.
Never on time! NEVER! Even on very early morning appointment, always wait for 30 minutes. Doctors not always patient. In the end, not a nice feeling. I expect to go and leave a doctor with a good feeling- this isn't that.
The assistant handling the appointments (the one wearing glasses) and checking in the patients is rather arrogant and did not appear to enjoy doing her job at all (December 03, 09:30). Perhaps hiring someone professional?
It is impossible to reach them and make an appointment. I am only staying with them because of dr Vams otherwise I will just leave them. They need to take an action immediately as the service is impossible to use.
Very bad!! They forget booking appointments, when you come in, they forget to check you in. If you complaint there is immediate attitude and they retaliate as if they are doing me a favour. Very bad service!
I'm new in this clinic (since May) but in comparison to other clinics in Amsterdam I had, it's a very good one. Very helpful, can be reached, two locations in the city. Till now only positive emotions.
Assistants were nice and helpful. They squeezed me into their schedule and everything went quickly and smooth. Dr C was a lovely person, competent and understanding. Definitely a pleasant experience
impossible to reach by phone and it takes weeks to get an answer by email - I was waiting for hours in the queue when finally It was my turn they put offline at 17h40 despite they close at 6
Disgusting clinic and rude 'doctors'. I went in for a test and the doctor was very rough with me. Doctors will never listen nor prescribe you with anything. Waste of time and money
The worse and most traumatic experience I ever had!! The 3 times I went there the GP couldn’t help me because of lack of knowledge!! I had to flew out of the country to recover.
Terrible service! no help or advice! how is it possible hat this place is still open most often they don't even pick up the phone!!!! Shame I can not give them - 5 Star!!!
I have been a client for 14 years and have grown fond of the diagnostic power and up to date yet unassuming service. They are there when you need them; quite addictive stuff!!
NEVER AGAIN COME BACK The worst clinic in Amsterdam. Impossible to make an appointment, why you take new patients if you cannot handle existing ones. So sad, don’t recommend
Doctor Luisa Camoglio is amazing I've been always treated hyper professionally and with speed! The rest of the staff is friendly and helpful. I feel very safe with them !
The administration is an incompetent mess. Well located clinic for those living in central Amsterdam, but extremely disappointing and chaotic service. Avoid at all costs.
Great Dr. Cambridge ; Super professional (and kindly) Dr. Luisa Camoglio. I feel me home. Finally I find human beings on the medical environment in Amsterdam. GREAT!!
I've been calling for a week to have an appointment with the doctor. Nobody answers the phone. I have also sent emails and have not received a reply. Worste service
I have had really good service here. The doctors did all they could. It's true that you might have to wait. But that's always the case with hospitals and doctors.
The worst experience ever. How can this people be doctors? They only care about money and are super rude. Don´t lose your money going to this nasty service
Last 2 times I have been here I have arrived for my appointment I have been sent to the wrong doctor who cannot look at my problem!! So frustrating!
I've always received top-notch attention at the clinic. Even during covid times, the online appointments and prescription renewals have been smooth.
If I could give 0 point I would. I was on the phone the whole morning for hours trying to reach them. Noone picks up the phone. You are a joke.
Fix your opening times. Came in 18:15 as they had set 8pm as closing time only to be greeted with an arrogant almost agressive "we're closed".
Do your health a favor and look for another gp if you are an expat. I was a patient here for a year and most consults were utterly worthless.
Five starts for Dr Frederic Voormans, she is a gem! Professional, knowledgeable, very kind, listens carefully and makes you feel cared for.
Horrible service! No help at all! Instead of helping I received a lecture about how dutch systems works. Very rude! Very unprofessional!
I had a really terrible experience. The female doctor had no idea what she's doing. Didn't really care to listen or try to help at all.
