I have never left a negative review on anything ever and it pains my soul to have to Karen here; But I need to share this experience. TL;DR dont take your pet to this chop shop. My cat had a canine fall out right before I moved to Los Angeles. I took her to my vet before leaving and she told me that she had a resorption lesion that would require an xray and probably needed at least one tooth extraction. I didnt have the time or money to do the appointment given the upcoming move. Fast forward; I moved and got a recommendation for a vet from people here. I set up an appointment detailing why I want to get her checked out. Drop her off and they tell me they had trouble examining her teeth but it looks like her back tooth needs to be extracted. Great but what about the canine that fell out? Oh well have to do an exam cleaning and xray anyway so well see it. Ok did she have her blood taken? I dont see it on the invoice and I know blood is supposed to be taken prior to anesthesia. No shell be ok were going to when shes under for her teeth cleaning because shes feisty. She is feisty but no one else has had a problem in 12 years. And the blood work seems odd but I really want her to get care because I think shes in pain. Jump to the day of I remind them again about the tooth because I was concerned it had been forgotten given the initial appointment. I receive a bill for about half of what I was quoted. I ask what was done? She was supposed to have her xray for AT LEAST her possible resorption lesion? The lady tells me she doesnt know. If I have questions I can call back and talk to a tech or if I wanted to the vet makes time at the end of the day to talk to patients. I call immediately and ask about the appointment. Why was her xray cancelled? Oh the tooth we were concerned about looked fine after a cleaning. All her teeth did as a matter of fact so we didnt need to extract that back tooth. I say not the back tooth I specifically have concerns about her missing tooth. The tech knew nothing about this and went on to tell me they wouldnt even do that kind of surgery at this clinic. I would have to be referred somewhere for that. Did I want a referral? NO I WOULD WANT THIS INFORMATION RIGHT UP FRONT IF THIS WAS THE CASE! But yes give me the referral I guess? The conversation goes with the doc as it did with the tech. She tells me the back tooth didnt need to be removed so she took off the xray to save me some money. I tell her thats not what I am talking about and explain the situation FOR THE FOURTH TIME. She seems surprised but curtly tells me no her teeth are fine. She has no concerns. I explain what my previous vet said needs to happen. Nope no concerns. Teeth look great. Given all the red flags I make an appointment with a different vet. I got to be in the room this time. Im not saying this to knock the previous vet its a pandemic; I say this because I personally watched him open my cats mouth with only minor complaints and show me the red gum line protrusions that happen with tooth resorption on not only the lost tooth but TWO OTHERS. One of them was even the tooth this clinic was confused about. Thanks for the hard lesson of doing more due diligence when interacting with vets instead of deferring to professional opinion. No thanks for taking a bunch of money from us to clean my cats teeth ignore me at every turn and prolong her pain. Shame on everyone involved in this process. I WISH google wouldnt restrict my review based on language so I could tell you exactly how I really feel instead of resorting to this old timey preacher styled disparagement. I am happily going to make an account on every possible review site I can to make sure the maximum amount of people hear this story. Its unacceptable to be this cavalier with peoples animals. I understand youre running a business and want to turn and burn but I feel like more diagnostic care would have been rendered at a jiffy lube. Myself my girlfriend and my friend no longer go here.

Here’s the thing, the Vet in this office is ok. So far, we’ve only used them for vaccines and I only met the Vet in person once, because we had to wait in the car during Covid. Prices are average too. The problem I have with this office are the receptionists. Over the phone they sound all nice when you want to make an appointment, but as soon as you walk in- they stare at you and speak to you in a rude demanding voice, as if you did something wrong. This happened more than once. The lady over the phone gave me instructions on what to do and I followed it to the T “Call us when you are outside to see if there’s enough space for your dog in the lobby, if not then just wait outside and we will call you when it’s your turn” Ok great, we did exactly that. Parked our car down the street because their Mickey Mouse sized parking lot is almost impossible to get through. We called when we arrived and the receptionist told us to come in. So we walked down the road in the rain. When we opened the door, the two receptionists were just gawking at us as if we did something wrong. I told her what I’m here for and the first thing VERY rudely says “ok but only one of you can come in, the other one has to wait outside.” This is information she could have communicated when we spoke over the phone TWICE!!! I was fine with just one of us being at the vet, but it’s the tone she uses and her attitude that I have a problem with. I had to Walk back all the way to our car in the rain. I HATE coming to this vet because of the attitude of the main receptionist and seriously considering to look for another vet. The owner of this office really needs to reconsider who they hire as the “first impression” or the “first person you meet” when a client walks in.

This was a very uncomfortable and slightly traumatizing experience. I have a 7 year old husky that had a growth on his lower gum. When doctor Choi came into the room she clearly felt uneasy around my husky. Acting very skittish towards him. Huskies are known to be very loving and nonviolent dogs so I was confused on why a professional was acting this way towards him. After showing Dr Choi the growth she immediately responded with “ooo that doesn’t look good”. My heart started racing and I looked up at her dumbfounded. I asked her what she thinks it is and she said she thinks it’s a tumor. My anxiety level heightened. I asked her if she saw anything like it and she said she’s never seen one that big before. She gave me no reassurance and clearly had poor bedside manner. I asked her what now and she responded by telling me she has to write up a treatment plan and she’ll be back when it’s complete. I almost started crying. She gave me no indication of what we were dealing with, all I experienced was her shocking reaction and then my nerves skyrocketing. I had to get out of there. So I paid for the exam and left before she could come back into the room. I then went to another vet a mile away. They were much more welcoming. They took a look at his growth and told me that they see this all the time and it’s most likely just an excess of gum cell build up that can be easily removed. The polarizing experiences made me realize how awful Dr Choi’s reaction was. It honestly sent me into a dark hole for the few hours in between seeing the doctors. My dog is my baby and a professional reacting the way she did, in that manner, should not be in that position in the first place. I highly recommend you don’t go to this vet.

We've been coming here since my first dog. The staff and vets were friendly and trustworthy. I don't know if their ownership has changed or something. The service here has become miserable. First thing is their app appointment system- no matter how many times they confirm with you on the app or via text, you still need to call them cos apparently the appointments made on the their app don't count. The front desk woman seems having a tough life right now. The way she talked to you makes you think you are talking to the queen and you are honored to get a chance to speak to her. Our "appointment" was at 9:15am and we were there at 9:20am. She first told us our appointment didn't count, then blamed on our 5mins tardy. -(me explained the appointment I made for my dogs) Tough Life Woman: We don't do surgery without examinations. -(speechless, cos you can just utter the confirmed surgery appointment into examination appointments) -Tough life Woman: What time is your appointment today? -me: one is at 9:15 and another one is at 3:00pm -TLW: but it is 9:30 now (actually 9:27) -me: yes we got here at 9:20 since then I was on the phone with you guys and waiting outside of the vet -TLW: but your appointment is at 9:15 What kind of family and education brought up this kind of creature? Didn't apologize for the misfuntioning of your appointment system and blamed me for didn't know to make appointment for examination but surgery and 5 mins tardy. Good for you!

I’m an MD and have a lot of patience/understanding for anyone working in the medical/veterinary field but this place drove me crazy. I know vets are in business to make money but ethical standards still apply. Brought my dog here for a simple dental cleaning. Got their veterinary exam, did expensive blood work as they asked so my dog could have anesthesia for dental cleaning. Then Dr then goes on vacation and they are unable to schedule my cleaning. I get the runaround for 2 weeks. When Dr finally gets back and they get around to scheduling they say i have to do a repeat exam and blood work ( additional ~400$). Why do it the bloodwork the first time if it can't be used to do the anesthesia? Poor planning or they want to run up the bill, either way that's poor practice. They try to justify this by saying my dog was sick, he was not. he has a chronic bronchitis that we notified them on the first visit. I agree to a repeat dr exam but not the repeat 400$ blood work ( blood work was normal the first time why would we repeat it?). When I ask for my dogs bloodwork results to take to another vet for cleaning they won't give it to me! Like they own the records! I had to go in person to demand records which they eventually released to me. Patients own their records and have a medical-legal right to their records and results! never let anyone hold your medical records hostage. So close to reporting this place to the CA vet board. STAY AWAY!!!

My dog has been going to this hospital for about a year. It is the SECOND time that he's come back home with a cut harness. I didn't notice it at first since my dad took him in for me today because I was busy working. Apparently when they brought him out, they brought him using one of their harnesses. The first time this happened, I let it slide, but not this time. The manager George had the AUDACITY to say my dog chewed it. There is no way my dog could have chewed it based on the location and how straight the line is. I would have more respect for them if they actually admitted to it, but instead they have chosen to blame my dog. Why not mention it to my dad when he picked him up? I have included a picture. It's a clear straight cut, not a gnawed job. Avoid this place if you can, they are obviously unethical and unthruthful! If I could give this place zero stars, I would. How dare they think I'm a fool!

Most the staff is great and the vets where very nice and thorough. There is however a single receptionist that’s very difficult and unfriendly. My wife has taken her dog there for years and when my 13 year old dog seemed like she was nearing the end I reached out for an appointment to discuss end of life planning. The reception made me make my own account and charged me $70 upfront cause I was a “new” patient even though I’d taken our other dog in before. Unfortunately my dog passed away before my appointment. I contacted them first thing to cancel my appointment. A week later I brought my wife’s dog in for a visit and explained how my family didn’t need 2 accounts, especially now that one of our dogs had died and I asked for a refund. The receptionist told me the $70 was not refundable and she said it’s to keep people from flaking on their appointments.

COVID Protocols in Place Review: This is a heaven sent animal hospital. The onboarding process was easy they send your forms to fill out prior, but you can do them on the spot. The drop-off was fast and efficient. It was a brutally hot day and the staff was quick to bring my pet indoors, to keep him cool, even though we were there a little early. The doctors were professional and courteous. The doctors called and talked to me about what my pet issues were. It was a general visit, but my first visit there. After the consultation, I liked how prior to proceeding with the procedure they provided me what the cost would be. The doctors then called and walked me through the results. I didn't feel rushed with them - more like they wanted to take make sure all my questions were asked and answered.

I honestly wish I could give 0 stars for this place. They are the worst! Only out for money & the head vet there is overcharging & under delivered every time I went. She will give you the worst case scenario for every diagnosis & scare you into spending thousands on something minimal you could help remedy yourselves. I’m baffled this place has decent reviews & hope this helps a pet parent find the right choice that actually cares for your animal & not the money they’re siphoning from your wallet. I’ve looked other places that are less than half the cost & much more attentive & engaged in your pets healing process. Do not support this money driven business!!!

I really can't recommend anyone taking their pets to Angel City Animal Hospital. Super unhelpful and unfriendly reception staff. Every time I come in with my dog they add on multiple unnecessary expenses and when I ask for them to explain these additional charges to me they act like I'm wasting their time. They recently blocked a prescription for a heartworm medication that they had told my dog that he needed from being processed by a third party vet pharmacy. When I came in and asked why this happened they said they weren't sure but I would need to book a $100 appointment and I should just buy it from them. They seem to value profits over actual pet care.

Very happy with Angel City Animal Hospital! We recently moved to LA & needed to find a new vet for our 3 kitties. All 3 cats got a standard check up & shots updated. 1 of our cats had an old knee injury & needed to have x-rays done onsite to determine if surgery might be necessary. The vet was EXTREMELY knowledgable. After x-rays were done she took me in the back, sat down with me, and reviewed the x-rays in a very easy to comprehend way. She also made great recommendations for new flea/tick treatments for our cats as Advantage was no longer working. Great, clean office & friendly staff as well. I can definitely say we found our new vet!

  • Daisy Harris

Angel City Animal Hospital is truly a wonderful vet office! We are so grateful to have found them when we were living in LA. Dr. Choi is attentive, professional, and thorough but didn't push unnecessary tests or procedures. The vet techs were always excited to see our dog Sam and treated him very well even though he was anxious about being at the vet (he's a senior pup and has hated going to the vet long before coming here). Appointments were usually available within a week, but they reliably were able to see us within a day if we had an emergency. Overall, a vet that sincerely cares about the animals in their care!

This review is overdue! I love Angel City Animal Hospital! I used to take my dog and cat to another great clinic, but since I moved closer to Angel City Animal Hospital I wanted to give it a try. Dr. Pora Choi is so knowledgeable, experienced, patient, and kind. She always explains everything clearly and truly cares about the pets. The technicians and receptionists are all very kind and gentle with the pets and make sure they feel comfortable. During the pandemic, I was very impressed on how organized they were. Thank you, Angel City! Luigi and Josephine can't wait to be back there for their next visit!

  • Melanie Hawkins

Waste of time. I scheduled and contacted them several times trying to get files transferred in from another vet - none of the receptionists were on the same page. I called with very simple and direct needs. I even expressed to each receptionist that I was doing this for a friend who is out of town. Then they tell me the day before an appt they have a policy where pet owners are the only ones allowed to bring their pets in.. they don’t even allow approval from the owner. What if there was an emergency? I guess health care for animals is just as dumb as it is for humans?

  • Erin Cook

My My experience was perfect. I was in absolute bind - emergency health issues and travel for myself, moving cross country permanently and suddenly, and the staff here was so kind and flexible to get Mae and I in immediately so we could get the paperwork we needed to fly. We’ve now made it home safe and sound, and although we won’t be returning to the clinic now that we’re in Iowa, I would recommend the kind folks here to absolutely anybody who asks because even prior to this situation my cat’s care was careful, thoughtful, and professional. Thank you genuinely.

I just adopted a shelter dog who is afraid of other dogs and I was a nervous wreck for this visit -- but my dog was calm and happy. They said they could bring her to a room apart from the other exam rooms so she wouldn't encounter other dogs, and she came out smiling and wagging her tail. She had a nasty skin infection but they assured me she would be fine, and after four days of treatment she is already looking much better and has stopped scratching herself. I also appreciated their social distancing protocols during covid.

  • ALBIS ROJAS

Front desk was extremely rude; I did make an appointment for first time client but I decided to cancel for several reason: 1. My appointment time and date was change w/out notified me 2. Front desk very disrespectful and no welcome new client 3. Front desk did not care to cancel an urgent appointment - As an advice I recommended to choose another clinic I went to wayfarer veterinary hospital the customer service was much better and they did took good care of my dog… excellent service

  • Jamie Jagerman

heads up, maria doesn’t know how to handle people or animals. do not let her handle your animal. they muzzle dogs without telling the owner and hand them back to you like it’s fine that your dog is panting and losing their mind. i don’t plan on returning without assurance that they won’t muzzle her again. my dog is incredibly gentle and nervous, and they full on traumatized the poor girl during a routine ear cleaning that she’s had done a half dozen times before.

  • Ami Tallman

Very nice, well-organized, quick, and moderately priced. Showed real warmth for both me and my dog, and offered a treatment better suited to his personality after a brief observation of his behavior. It was a great relief to work with this place after some alienating and hectic experiences at other vets. They kept me in the loop from start to finish, even though they were observing social distancing and only animals were allowed inside.

  • Louis Harvey

While they accommodated our near emergency need to care for our dog, it seemed like they didn't know what they were doing. Very little and super unclear communication from the doctor was frustrating. The other staff was in over their heads and was receiving no help from the doctor. I actually had to go help them to give my dog an x-ray, as the vet was no where to be seen. Very expensive as well, for all the work I had to do haha

  • Lulu Li

They're mediocre with routine check ups but if you need anything outside of that, go somewhere else. It feels like the staff cared very little about our cats and the vet cared even less. We tell them about the issues at hand and it was in one ear out the other. I honestly don't understand how this place has such high ratings but after our last experience there, congrats to them for getting my very first one star review.

  • Albert Hernandez

This this second vet ever my pups get excited to see. They get excited and start jumping around in the car. Plus the staff, tech, and doctor are great. Excellent sense of humor all around, definitely give advise to keep my pups happy. I always remember when Dr. asked my pup to shake to get a treat, she called him stubborn cuz he wouldn't do it. My pup huffed and looked at me like is she serious I don't do tricks. LOL

  • Matthew Park

Scheduled an appointment for 4:15, arrived and called them at 4:10. Did not let us in till 4:50, and did not speak with the vet till 5:30. Some fair warning of wait time would have made things at least more prepared. Also the vet needs to chill out a little, not every actual question we have is a critic to their qualifications as they have strongly defended over simple questions and their opinion.

  • Jay Nam

Staff and doctor are A+. The only thing that can possibly be improved is the treatment pricing but you get what you pay for. The $49 visit is actually very good compared to my previous vet. Both the gentlemen that came to my car were GREAT and doctor spent ample time on the phone (due to Covid) explaining Panda's condition and her options. Very happy new client.

  • Caroline Codd

We just moved here from NYC and were having a hard time finding a vet. Everyone was so friendly! We know this is a stressful time for vet offices right now but the bedside manner made such a difference and we know we made the right decision by coming here. The vet answered all my questions and they even had a little welcome sign for our pup when we came in!

  • Billy Hamilton

This is an excellent vet place. The doctor is very kind to me and my little dog Joey and the staff has been receptive and effective as well. My dog is important in my life and needs care in the area of allergies and general doggie upkeep in health, and i have grown to rely on Angel City care and always relieved and happy with the results of a visit!!!

  • Peter Umbrell

Good news was they are the only vet in my area that actually answers the phone! Bad news was I was told I could not take a tour of the facility or meet with the vet (I offered to pay for the time) before bringing in my cat. The first words were not thank you for contacting us but a rude and upfront demand for payment before asking me any questions.

  • Carina Mulcahy

I’ve found the technicians and vets to be helpful and courteous but the reception staff are rather unpleasant. Unfortunately you end up interacting the longest with them so it’s one of the reasons we’ve moved. Also too low tech, no online scheduling or App for easy access to medical records.

  • Laurel Clark

I came here with a last minute sort-of emergency. I called in the morning, and they could get me in same day after I was home from work. They were very nice and comforting - my kitty was as tolerant as could be expected at the vet under the circumstances. My cat is now in tiptop shape.

  • Mad

I showed up extremely concerned and without an appointment recently bc my dog had issues over the weekend and the staff & doctor made the time for me even when they were so busy. My dog is doing much better and I just am so grateful for their kindness and help!! Highly recommend

  • Miranda Klipfel

Amazing vet, we brought in a stray cat and they helped us get all the care she needed quick and efficiently. They were really helpful and did the best to get the help she needed within our budget. Definitely reccomend this vet and will be bringing all future pets back here!

  • Mark Glickman

We have been a long time Client of Angel City Animal Hospital. They have been treating my Jack Russell Mix magnificently. Great Doctor(Dr.Choi), great receptionists, great prices highly Qualified Surgery when needed. Highly recommend.

  • Julia McAlee

This is the best vet, I’ve been going for maybe 3 years or so. I can tell they love animals and I trust them with my cat who I love so much! I like everyone who works there, they are fair, kind, and professional. Highly recommended.

  • Courtney Daar

We unfortunately have not had a positive experience here and will not be returning. I wish I would have listened to the reviews ahead of time before taking my pup to Angel City.

  • Sherry Campbell

Dr. Choi is good, kind, knowledgeable and easy to talk with. She has a nice staff. She neutered my pom and it was great. She also is excellent with cats. I recommend her.

  • spencer h

Came in for a general exam for my new dog! Appointment was serviced on time. Staff was great and Doctor Choi was very nice and knowledgeable. Will be returning!

  • Andrew Maas

We can always get in quick for an appointment and they are good at diagnosing issues. My cat needed surgery for an infection and Dr Choi did a fantastic job.

  • Elijah Blu Ricks
