This review is for the Adelaide branch at 219 Marion Road. We flew into Adelaide for a holiday. Bad start to the holiday courtesy of Apex. I called the office once we'd collected our bags, as instructed on the booking confirmation. I was told by Adriana that the shuttle bus wouldn't leave the office for twenty minutes, so a half hour total wait as the office is ten minutes from the airport. I questioned why there was a delay, and Adriana's response was to say "see you soon" and put the phone down. The directions to get to the pick up point aren't clear from the booking confirmation, and another call to Adriana sent us in the wrong direction, and we had to ask a competitor's representative how to get to the Apex pick up. The shuttle arrived, and I asked the driver why there'd been a delay, and his response was that there were only two staff in total on duty, and he'd been cleaning cars. We reached the Apex office and I asked Adriana the same question as to the delay. Her answer was different, stating that the shuttle only runs every half hour. Either way, don't use this company if time is a priority. We were provided with the paperwork for the car, and I asked if there was an existing damage report for the car, and I was told that Apex don't provide damage reports (note here that the hirer is liable for the first $2750) I then had to go round the car with Adriana and photograph the existing damage with Adriana being there as a witness. On getting into the car, we find that the car hadn't been cleaned inside, and there was a brown stain on the driver's seat, which I hoped was chocolate, but didn't investigate further. Back into the office I go, I explain the car is dirty and ask Adriana to come out and view the interior of the car, and she refused! The second cleaner car arrives, and again I have to photograph the damage as Apex don't provide damage reports. ALSO, PLEASE NOTE THIS BRANCH IS UNIQUE AND DOESN'T HAVE AN OUT OF HOURS DROP BOX AND IT CLOSES AT 12.30 ON SATURDAY AND SUNDAY, AND 4.30PM WEEKDAYS. What hire car company doesn't have a drop box? Also there is no manager available at weekends (I asked), nor was Adriana prepared to call him, requesting that I call him on Monday - really? I make a complaint and then I have to chase the manager.

Even though they are not at the airport, when you google Adelaide car hire airport, Apex comes up, only when you have entered all the details, suddenly information about the shuttle comes up and you realise that they’re NOT at the airport. I decided to still go with them as I had a brilliant experience with them in NZ. Well, what a mistake! The shuttle turned up quickly, but 1/3 of the way in to go to the Apex office, the shuttle turned back to pick up more passengers, so our time spent in the shuttle was much longer. I wasn’t happy about it as I was travelling with a 4 year old and there were no special car seats or seatbelts for a child on the shuttle. The process from arriving at the office to actually getting a car was very long, the longest I’ve experienced! Despite telling on the booking that we will need a child seat, it wasn’t installed. The guy who was dealing with us had no clue how to do it and was attempting to install it for a very long time, it wasn’t secure at all and only when a colleague came to a rescue, the seat was finally adequately installed. The car itself was filthy, there were some white splashes all over the interior doors and crumbs on the seatbelt. Definitely don’t recommend! Pay a bit more and go with a company which actually is located at the airport.

Six weeks prior to needing a vehicle I booked through a third part, Qeeq. Following this booking I spoke to Apex Adelaide directly to confirm our vehicle type as we needed a large boot to relocate to Brisbane, and explained several times of our plan to go through the Northern Territory in order to avoid covid in NSW and Vic, Apex Adelaide each time told us that would be a good journey and to have a good time. As we crossed in to the Northern Territory 2 hours late and we were placed In to quarantine, upon notifying Apex we were advised we had no insurance on our vehicle as we preached our contract by entering the N.T, no I did not ready the contract conditions regarding where we could not travel as we had verbally discussed this with Apex staff and they wished us a safe journey, due to our time in quarantine we were late bringing the car back to Brisbane, even though we Emailed on a regular basis, and provided a letter from N.T Health regarding our quarantine, and advised to have the vehicle returned with 32 hours or police would be advised we had stolen their car. Apex is not sympathetic or empathetic towards people in general or ongoing covid situations. ALWAYS READ THEIR SMALL PRINT.

Booking for 8.00am but waiting at meetting point until 8.30, Finally got a car and went out from apex at 9.30! And I just booked for 1 day before transit to somewhere else, Lady Staff who work on Sunday works soooooo slow and we have to wait for her unorganized job almost 40 mins. Moreover, we booked a car until 4.45 but this staff said we have to come back before 4.15 or we have to take a cab from apex to airport. We’ve tried to come back in time but we’ re back at 4.20, she refuse to send us at airport because our 5 minites late, without mention her fault in the morning. After a fantastic service from NZ, I always trust in this brand until today. Very disappointed and will not refer this brand to other anymore. If you are looking for a car in Adelaide, please contact Hertz, Budget or Thrifty in airport because it’s more comfy than Apex with almost the same price after you have to pay for taxi to airport.

I cannot fault this company in any way. In fact they went out of their way in service standards and I will use them whenever I travel. The car was clean and they accurately recorded any marks on the vehicle. Pick up and return was simple, the shuttle picked us up quickly from the airport and was ready to transport us back to the airport as soon as we dropped the car back. I accidentally left my phone in the rental car and when I offered to bring a taxi back to pick it up they went above and beyond by bringing the shuttle back to the airport to drop it off to me. I expected budget service and a budget car for the price (half the price of other rental companies listed at Adelaide airport) and was willing to accept that, but got 5 star service and a customer for life.

Good rates for sightly older cars. I rented a 3 year old Corolla, had a few scrapes and dents but was spotlessly clean inside and mechanically perfect. Staff were friendly and helpful. When I pointed out the scrapes and dents on the car, they said they were already noted, but encouraged me to take photos with my phone (geolocated and date stamped). I had no problems on return. The only reason I didn't rate 5 stars is because when I booked on the website, I was told there was a free shuttle from the airport to the office. I arrived close to closing time and the shuttle driver had gone home. I had to pay for a taxi to the office (around $20). The shuttle was available when I returned the vehicle. Will be using them again!

Have used Apex probably 10 times over the last 10 years. Both in Australia and NZ. They are cheaper than the big hire car brands and I can't fault them. Yes you need to take a shuttle bus from most airports (except Queenstown if you don't mind walking across the capark) to get to them, but that is pretty much the only downside, if you consider that a downside. So as long as you don't mind adding an extra 1/2 an hour or so on each side of your trip, they are great. Cars are decent, sometimes a bit old but in good condition. I had one problem when I hired in Christchurch, where the car had a suspension issue. It was resolved quickly and in a friendly manner by swapping the car over immediately.

We used Apex car rental's in March , Would have no hesitation going with them again {Adelaide Branch } From pickup at the airport to drop off back all good helpful staff , They walk around the car to check any marks all recorded you check as well can add any you feel maybe needed , we had pre booked so it was a very easy sign in , Called back several days later added other family to drive car , No problems. Its easy to find your way from their Marion rd premises than the airport . Left some glasses in the hire car , which they very kindly packed and posted to our home address , Thank you Apex ....

I recently crashed my car and need to hire a car for a few weeks, these guys where very very easy to deal with, from the 1st call through to handing the car back they where great, i extended a couple of times with no dramas.............i must say Justin is a great ambassador for this brand, pleasant polite informative helpful well presented and above all in our opinion he cared , good old fashioned service,Justin embodies the South Australian spirit, great brand great people highly recommend especially if your from inter state or over seas ........SA as it should be "friendly"

I arrived at the office at 12 noon and was greeted by friendly, approachable and helpful staff. The dropping off process was smooth and hassle free. Free shuttle transport service to Adelaide airport was provided and my driver was Sarah. She introduced activities and recommended a few places of interest to me. I was overwhelmed by her hospitality and friendliness. Despite the short 10 minutes drive from the office to the airport, she made me feel comfortable during the ride and definitely deserves a commendation for her services. Thank you Sarah!

This business advertises itself as an "Airport" rental but their opening hours don't reflect this. They close at 12pm on weekends so if your flight lands later than this, watch out! My flight time was updated to land in Adelaide later than 12pm and I had to hire a car from a competing agency for the one day to fill the gap. And of course I couldn't cancel Apex altogether because they would charge a cancellation fee. UPDATE: Got a call from the branch and they apologise for my experience. Great to hear that they took this feedback on board.

Apex cars in Adelaide were absolutely brilliant on our recent trip. Our flights were late but they waited in the shuttle bus and took us back to pick up our waiting car after closing time. The car was was a great size for us and at a very afordable price. I had checked out many car rentals in the area and Apex were the cheapest. They were proffessional , curtious and very fast with pick up and drop off. All over Apex cars deserve more than 5 stars and I would reccomend them to everyone. Thank you for making our trip more enjoyable.

We needed a vehicle to travel to Melbourne. The staff couldn't have been more helpful. Because of work I needed my wife to pick up the vehicle. The staff helped her and made it so easy. The trip went well the car was clean, full tank and the car handled perfectly. On returning the vehicle the staff were once again very efficient. We have used apex in Brisbane and Sydney but the experience we had was by far the best and we will continue using this service around Australia.

Good Bye Ape Would give negative stars if possible. I have been renting vehicles from Apex for 8 years. Never ever had a problem. Adelaide Apex managed to destroy my good impression of the company in one go. The vehicle we received was in poor condition, seat belts did not work properly, the key remote did not work, customer service on pick up and drop off non existent. Guess I should be grateful as my next rent was through Sixt and immediately was upgraded to a Mercedes.

So-so experience. Car had a faulty brake light discovered on our first stop leaving the depot - back we go to have it replaced. The next night in the pouring rain with two kids under 4 in the back the battery goes flat. RAA advise that no battery tie downs present means car is unroadworthy. Returned the car the next day and made other arrangements. Compensation offered and taken but not inclined to risk the service again.

Cheapest rates in Adelaide Excellent service I rented for 2 days, However, I finish my work and returned the car in 1 day, and they refund my 1 day rental amount. Hyundai small car was perfect for me low on fuel. Free shuttle service to and from Adelaide Airport. Car clean inside and mechanically sound. Staff were friendly and helpful. I had no problems on return and very happy.

Great little car rental, providing good prices. Shuttle pick up & drop off , not far from airport was easy. The staff at the office were knowledgeable & pick up & drop off was dealt with efficiently. We had no issues with the vehicle we hired it was a little bigger than the one we had picked on booking but that was fine with us. Overall a very good experience with Apex Adelaide

Rented a mid size hatchback here in Adelaide for our holiday after getting positive experiences renting from their NZ branch. Everything went smoothly and the airport shuttle services are very prompt. Staff are very helpful and kind to advise on the queries we have on the car rental. Would recommend it to anybody who wants a hassle-free car rental at a reasonable rate.

Pick up location of the vehicle was not clear on the booking so we ended wasting time waiting for the van pick up to the car location which took ages due to bad traffic. Car we got was old and the service was mediocre at best. After returning the vehicle was told rudely to wait for the van so we ended up getting an Uber back to the airport. Would not recommend!

Hired a Hyundai Elantra for 8 days with around 80 000 km on the odometer. Car was clean and in great condition. Drove across SA, VIC and NSW with ease, returning the car in Sydney. Shuttle bus provided to and from airport. Staff were great at providing information you would appreciate if it were your first time driving in Australia. Would definitely recommend.

The staff at the counter on pick up and drop off were absolutly amazing and friendly. The car I got was very clean and new. Excellent Staff, There was no surcharge as I'm 21 years old! The process was very easy, they pick you up from the airport and drop you to the airport. The staff walk you out to the car and you do the car inspection with them and its a lot easy than any other rental company. There is no deposit to pay for and the cars are awesome.

Amazing staffs. Due to some unintended circumstances, our car return was a bit delayed but the lady today on 10/11/23 at 1800 was very friendly, professional and respectful. Apex is one of the best cat rentals, I must admit they make us international and domestic customer feel safe and respected.

Quick service with friendly and helpful staff. Modern cars, and a location not far from the airport. Only advice would be if you have more than a couple of mid to large size bags avoid the Toyota C-HR. The Corolla sedan we hired from Apex in Melbourne was far more spacious.

This review is regarding Apex Melbourne Airport. Do not be on a flight that arrives at 4:00 PM or later. Apex shuttles stop and you need to pay for a Taxi to get you to the car rental office. The added cost just makes it the same as Europcar, Avis, Budget or Hertz.

They require a bond of $2750 for the cheapest models of the market. In order to reduce the bond to $500 you ll pay almost double of their advertised price.
