I visited with Dr Mandi McElyea. It wasn’t a long visit. My cat experienced a panic attack and mild to severe anxiety. She doesn’t travel much or enjoy vet visits. I purchased a larger crate and that helped a bit. Last vet broke her old one trying to keep her from going in it. Not a smart move. For the journey, she didn’t meow much but was visibly shaky. We drove downtown from Hendersonville. I had moved. Replacement vet was overly aggressive and disrespectful on many visits. Cats for one do not appreciate being grabbed by the neck (never recommended by humans) and slammed down on metal tables or have a towel suddenly thrown on top of them. She started out as a rescue at age 2 so already has a history of trauma and abandonment issues. I worked with her for 6 years to make her feel secure and am protective of how she’s treated. She’s my baby. We have a close bond. Today she went into fight or flight mode. Hissed a bit when attempting vaccines. Her patience ran out unfortunately. They didn’t push her. Thankfully she’s learned the new crate is a safe space to retreat. No one stopped her. She got in and out easily. We have to return later for shots. Received some medicine for the anxiety. It’s been too long since her nails were trimmed last. Normally her claws are shorter. That added some difficulty. Being in her crate for an hour and half without medicine today did not help. I got there earlier than expected (Tues morning traffic was rough) with other animals around. At home, she is calmer and cuddles. Friendly cat overall. But like humans, stress and anxiety gets overwhelming. That triggers defenses that normally wouldn’t happen. Animals have mental health needs too. My cat, like me, prefers her normal surroundings and routine. Everyone in clinic remained calm and respectful. They explained what was needed in detail and took their time in easing my cat into her to do list. I would recommend them. I appreciate the kindness and good bedside manners. I think I’m more stressed about visits than anyone else, including my cat. I depend on the vet to understand animal behavior, retain compassion, and find a solution that works for all parties. What adds stress is villain-izing normal behavior or preventing animals from accessing safe spaces. It’s a slow process building trust and an even slower one to regain a fracture in it.

My dog was well cared for today. I was especially impressed by Dr. Amanda McElyea. She was thorough in her exam and assessment and caring towards my dog and me. She patiently and empathically explained all of the treatment options to me and gave me the information I needed to make my decision about how to proceed. She was able to do my dog's procedure that same day, which I recognize may not have happened at other practices. My frustration is that while this practice seems to provide good care, their customer service and professionalism are sorely lacking. I find dealing with the front office staff in this practice unbearable. I know that we all have an occasional bad day and that nobody is perfect. I am leaving these comments because this at least the 4th negative experience I have had with the office staff. Today they made a mistake and forgot to give me the medication the veterinarian had prescribed following the procedure. They called to tell me this when I was arriving home after picking up my dog. Their error cost me an hour on the road and when I arrived to pick up the medication, I learned that the had not charged me for the medication or a vaccine administered. The most frustrating part is that there was no acknowledgment that they had made an error and the inconvenience created for me. Neither did they make any attempt to apologize or take responsibility for their error. The gentleman at the front desk was rude, uncaring and belligerent. I have been going to this practice quite some distance from where I live because the veterinarians were highly recommended but I will be looking for a new practice because of their front office staff.

We decided to change vets because our Jake is a geriatric pup. We are thrilled with Berry Hill Animal Hospital!! So personable, takes their time with any appointment, whether annual check-up or when one of us humans completely freaks out and must be seen immediately, they calmly reassure us everything is ok and make a plan with us!!! There are so many more adjectives to use but supercalafragalic expealidotia covers them all - and yes I know that is not how it is spelled :)))) - if you're having any thoughts about making the switch, I highly recommend giving Berry Hill Animal Hospital a shot - your furbaby will thank you or lick you which ever you prefer.

I have been taking my kitties to these very capable female veterinarians for approximately 13 years. They have provided us with nothing but top notch compassionate care. I highly recommend Berry Hill Animal Hospital to all of my friends that need care for their animals. Office used to be located next to Smiling Elephant Restaurant on 8th Avenue but they have moved to new offices closer to Wedgewood Avenue on 8th with much better parking that is accessed by turning on Benton Avenue.

Best choice ever. I'm new in Nashville and I was looking for an animal hospital near my home. I was guided by the reviews. All true! The receptionist was kind (a blond short hair woman....I didn't asked her name..). After her, Cindy was amazing, lovely and professional! Same about dr. McElyea She called me the day after of the visit to ask me how was my dog. I left the hospital with all the medicines my dog needed, and this makes all the difference! Thank you guys

My dog got his paw broken by someone and this clinic took my call immediately, gave me resources and helped calm me in one of the worst situations I have ever been in. They also helped him and saw him first thing the next morning. He is an anxious boy and scared of strangers and this entire office made him safe, comfortable, and took care of his injury in a very quick time. I can’t even choose one person here because I can’t express enough that the entire office was a blessing.

I brought our sweet boy Pablo here and the staff was amazing! From the moment we walked in the door you could tell these folks genuinely care about your furry family member! Douglas isn't the happiest or most bubbly member of the staff but most people who deal with the public allllll day long generally aren't. The care Pablo received was second to none and I am thankful for the kind, compassionate, caring and knowledgeable staff who graciously took care of our boy!!!!!!

I have brought my cats to Berry Hill Animal Hospital for almost a decade. I moved across town and used another (corporate-owned) for a bit but the quality of service compared to prices could not beat Berry Hill. I now drive across town just to visit them. Kind, welcoming and helpful is just a few words I can say. I always can get in fairly quick and their prices are very reasonable. 5 star A-Team working there.

When i 1st visited in 2011 a ms.brown vet dr.was working at this location she saved my pet bull toonchie from parvo here i am with my toonchie once again life threatening in need of operation they saved her my toonchie once again thanx to ms.kirpatrick vet dr. We never would have made it without yu guys thank you so much fot giving us more time ❤ together very affordable very very caring overall excellent care

My dog was having some ongoing issues with his stool. I called around 8 PM and left a VM. They got back with me that same night and said to bring him in first thing the next morning. They gave him a couple of antibiotics and the issue cleared up right away. I was so happy and pleased with the staff there, and that they were able to get him evaluated with such short notice. Would highly recommend this place.

I took my fur baby (dog) Calvin in for a few issues he was having. Dr. Miller was phenomenal. She was kind, took her time, asked good questions and gave me a comprehensive treatment plan. She took into consideration my dogs sensitivities and allegories and I felt like she really cared about him like I do. I highly recommend her as a Vet! Also I don’t know the assistants name but she was also amazing!

The absolute best vet around! I have been coming here for 12 years, and when Dr. Kirkpatrick took the practice over, it became an even more amazing place for my dogs. She has done multiple surgeries on both of my dogs, and I couldn’t be happier. Even routine visits are wonderful, and they never cease to amaze me at the lengths they go to help…even after hours! 10 out of 10 recommend.

Berry Hill is absolutely the BEST! We’ve entrusted our pets care to them for 10 years and will continue to do so! They always find a way to provide the best care at a reasonable price, and I know I can always count on them in a pinch. The staff at BHAH will always bend over backwards to make sure your pet receives the best care and that you are an informed pet owner.

My girlfriend and I take our two cats here. Overall, I have been happy with the service, friendliness, and professionalism of the staff. The vet took the time to answer my questions on both occasions I have been there, as well as when my girlfriend has gone. It isn't the fanciest and most modern animal hospital out there, but I would recommend them.

Adopted a stray cat one of my friends found starving in a shopping center. Dr. Kirkpatrick was thorough, helpful, and the appointment system was smooth and intuitive. I was very nervous because this is my first cat, but she and the assistant whose name I didn’t catch helped me with all of the steps I needed to take with Yuri (pictured).

My cat and I are were new to the Nashville area at the time of our appointment and BHAH eased my anxiety and my kitty's! They were kind, patient, professional, and it was truly affordable. I felt like our needs were met and I walked away with confidence in my cat's health. I'll definitely be making this our primary vet office!

UPDATE: the new location is beautiful! At first I was unsure about going here because the building is a bit outdated and small. The care my dogs and cat get is completely worth it! The vets and the staff are wonderful and they are great with our boys. I definitely recommend working with them.

Great staff and doctor! I was visiting Nashville for the weekend and forgot my little senior Chihuahua's heart medication at home. They got us in within an hour, communicated with my vet in Ohio to get his records and medication info, and gave us refills for his meds. Thank you Berry Hill!

I travel a lot and have been to my share of veterinarians. I have a pup who gets very anxious at the vet and these guys were so very patient and sweet with her. We will definitely be making this our “home vet” for as long as we live in Nashville.

First time visit this week, and I am extremely happy that I’ve found these folks to have as a primary care for my dog. Whole staff was wonderful and the Dr. took the time to answer all questions, go over options, etc. I would highly recommend.

I have been bringing my pets to Berry Hill for 30 years throughout a couple of different ownerships and somehow they have never changed in terms of excellence. They have been through a lot with our pets and us, and I will never leave. :)

Dr. Kirkpatrick is fantastic. I would highly recommend her to anyone. She took time with us as first time pet owners and her staff was incredibly welcoming. Her and her team are very responsive to any questions we have.

Berry Hill Animal Hospital is the best! They have cared for 2 of our cats over many, many, years and are always loving, professional, and available. Easy to park and get in and out of the office. Absolutely five stars!

Good vet and reasonable prices. They are all very helpful and nice. Dr. Kirkpatrick always does a great job. Their new facility is also great. I've never had to wait long to get an appointment or in the waiting room.

The Berry Hill team is amazing, they always follow up and check on Drizzy my cat after each appointment and take the time to help answer all my questions. They are super kind and I really enjoy the appointments.

We recently moved to Nashville, could not be happier with our first visit with Dr. Miller. It's a great place for pets who are overwhelmed by other animals. Can wait in the car until ready to go in room.

I had to walk in after my cat got a fight wound. They saw us quickly and did a great job. Lady is normally skiddish of others but they were so welcoming she didn’t even flinch getting her shot.

The best place in the area to take your animal babies!!! Everyone is so kind, helpful, and thorough and I know my cat is in good hands with them. Very reasonable pricing as well :)

Just moved back to Nashville from NY and so happy to find this vet for my elderly diabetic pup. They are very competent and caring.
