We had the great pleasure of dealing with the folks at Black's when my father first passed away about 6 months ago. We contacted them as we weren't sure if his extensive library was worth anything....which turns out was quite valuable with many older books. These guys are simply great: honest, straightforward, and they paid cash for the books. Most other places we tried only offered a pittance in cash or just trade credit for use in their shops. Great experience, would highly recommend them if you're selling or just for appraisals!

I am very disappointed with this bookseller. I ordered a Manitoban publication on-line from this bookseller located on River Avenue in Winnipeg, Manitoba and the amount shown on my invoice was in Canadian dollars (of course). However, when I checked my credit card statement I noticed that it had been charged in AMERICAN funds. I emailed the bookseller and received no explanation.

I am always impressed by the breadth of knowledge of the folks at Black's. Their knowledge spans the Classics to Canadiana and everything in between. Even if you aren't looking for anything in particular, a browse through the website is sure to find something that will catch your eye. Unlike the bookstore in the sitcom, this one is well run and will get you your order on time!

Phoned them about five times and left messages regarding my bill - no one answered or replied. I also used their contact form, and got no reply. I was appropriately sent a bill in Canadian funds, but my Visa was charged in American funds. No one contacted me as to why this was so. I don't understand why no one got back to me. Great books, poor service. Very frustrating.

While Black's has a unique collection of fine books and manuscripts, it's client service that really makes it stands out from its competitors. Their staff went out of their way to help me locate rare photos of early settlement in western Canada for my research project. Needless to say I was very satisfied with my experience and I highly recommend their services.

One of the best places to get your rare and out-of-print books! The most professional and thorough service. I've bought quite a few pieces from here and definitely would recommend.
