Not baby friendly at all! Went as a group of 5 with babies, made to feel extremely uncomfortable and unwelcome by the owner. Nasty comments were made when my baby fussed for 5 minutes about how we were going to drive customers away and how I should “just put a dummy in” even though I was clearly trying to calm her. We were also asked to either get more coffee or leave as there was a group of 8 waiting, even though there was a party of 2 on a bigger table who had been there longer than us. We asked for a minute to decide what we were going to do as we had sleeping babies, when we decided it was best to go the owner made passive aggressive comments about how the other group had left and he had lost out because of us. There was also a whole unopened section of tables that could have been used. Such a shame the owner was so rude and unwelcoming as the coffee was nice, could have made regular customers out of us but definitely won’t be coming back.

We took a small diversion on the road home from Bridlongton to glasgow to visit Bloomfield Square and it was really worth it. The cafe is even more attractive on the inside as it is on the outside. The decor inside is cool and eclectic with great art work on the walls and retro furniture that adds an extra touch of cool to the already relaxed and friendly atmosphere. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful and we enjoyed chatting with them about flthe cafe and where we were from. The service was excellent and they advised me about their extra strength coffee as standard. If you like weaker coffee get a large I had the lemon cake and my wife had a Yorkshire scoundrel, a cross between a fruit and cherry scone with lots of butter. My daughter had the shot bread and it was all delicious! We all loved the cafe and got a plenty of pictures of the print art and the cosy corner piano snug. If you're your ever passing Otley do yourself a favour and go, you won't regret it.

Been here a few times and to be honest the retro atmosphere is great..(thus 3*) However had coffee a few times usually Latte on the first occasion asked for one shot and received advice from the owner in regards to it affecting the quality of taste with only one shot... (for me to ask for 1 shot is my preference) On the latest visit had Latte which for me was only warm and by the end of the cup was cold... On way out mentioned this to the owner who quoted that he serves his coffee at 60* (unless requested hotter) I presumed he was quoting centigrade.. On speaking to another source and checking online the coffee temp should be about 73* C 155-165F and the milk 90*C 195F-205F... But my main observation was the condescending way in which the owner of Bloomingfields cafe delivered his advice... No return trip booked.

Always a wonderful place to visit with children - my daughter loves the chocolate drops that come with the babyccino and the huge slices of cake! The recent posts don't match my experience at all, have been in with my baby son (and my daughter from when she was tiny) and never been made to feel anything other than welcome. Nice wide staircase is easy to navigate with small children as well. Love the quirky interesting decor, fantastic coffee, an absolute must visit if you're in Otley.

Don't go if you have a baby!!!!!!!! The owner stated my friend should 'put a dummy in' or ' go for a walk' as her unsettled baby will drive customers away. We were also asked to either get more coffee or leave as 8 people wanted to sit down. We were a party of 5 with sleeping babies. There also was a party of 2 who were sat on a much bigger table, they where not asked to buy more coffee or leave. (Also a big area was also shut, which could have been opened to allow for more customers) The coffee was good but we won't be going back as clearly babies are not welcome.

Attended 10 am on a Wednesday morning. As a single guy with two dogs I like to try out these dog friendly places. Perhaps it’s me but I’d didn’t seem friendly. Guys around the counter blocking access to what was on offer. Felt more like a private members club that I was an interloper in. Coffee was good, cake a little dry. Not sure why I was given a caddy spoon for my coffee and the tiniest cake fork to eat my cake with. Perhaps they thought we’ll torment him even further for daring to come in. Personally I won’t be going back. Other cakes did look good. Obviously mine was the wrong choice.

Regularly visit another cafe in otley who are closed, so looking for a new opportunity, visited here, shocking reaction to asking for a wet latte, and was somewhat taken aback, too far too long for the minimal customers to be served, the guy who astounded me in the first instance with his commentary served the drinks with a…”right…”as he heavily put the tray down…at 60 I’ve have better cafe experiences, Shame as we had high hopes…disappointed and in all honesty at least Greggs would have been more enjoyable…need to be more warm and engaging and customer centric

  • Tansy Adcock

Proper cocktails. We started by saying that they were expensive (£8 each) what the barman did not understand at the time is that I am normally a stout drinker and that,... If the cocktails were good.... We would stay. They were really good. We ended up spending a fortune of our meagre budgets but were happy to do so, having had delicious, properly made cocktails in a lovely environment and music that totally suited indie, alternative... Soon to be 50 me. Oh we are coming back. Thank you

Top notch coffee , lovely cakes and great chat with the owner - fascinating bloke with a genuine love of old wooden fonts! Amazing collection of old printers/machinery and great assortment of cards/ prints for sale… do yourself a favour and call in for a great Yorkshire welcome and marvellous experience … went for an hours chat with a mate, and stayed for four! What a lovely venue for an acoustic folk show. Upstairs gig space with seats for around 30 people. Good acoustics. Cafe has awesome coffee and local cans of beer. A nice location in the heart of Otley. More so if you are lucky you'll get to meet some of the past and present Yorkshire musical heritage working there. Highly recommend if you can catch a show there. Keep up the good work.

A fabulous independent coffee shop. Great vibe and especially welcoming in the winter when the log burner is fired up. Make sure you go

I loved this Café. It looks exactly like I would want to decorate my house, a little vintage, a little nordic and a little repurposed furniture! Good tea and amazing selection.of Brownies. Also it has a little seating in front, for those sunny days, not that you have much to look at. This cafe is on two levels and it has a lot of tables upstairs.

Very rude guy working today. I asked for a latte to go and if I could use the toilet whilst i wait - he looked at me up and down and said make sure I sanitise before I go in, which was fine but the manner and tone of his voice was very rude. The only thing he needs to sanitise is his attitude. Bad customer service. Not good.

  • Jodie O'Halloran

Really charming place and they not only allow dogs, but are really thoughtful. Brought my dog some water and treats and gave her a cuddle. They provide blankets and towels for the dogs too if needed. Foods really nice, limited menu, but something to accommodate most people. Really friendly staff. Would absolutely recommend.

What an amazing place.. The decor reminds me if the 60s and 70s... Food is superb.. Coffee smooth and luxurious and the staff are amazingly friendly.. The owner is just a wealth of knowledge and his printing studio a step back in time.. Well worth a visit.. Will never go to a chain coffee shop again..

Lovely retro coffee shop. Looks great at Christmas. They can take a while to serve your coffee at your table and several times my coffee has been luke warm by the time it arrives so hence not giving them 5 stars.

Superb coffee and great atmosphere. No pretension. They value the coffee they sell, using local suppliers with excellent relationships with the people who grow the beans. Don't choose Costa over this place.
