Carrie and Amber were sent from Jesus in heaven himself! For context: A week prior to my appointment at Chatters in Kingston I was a platinum blonde, trying to go back to a nice natural, rich brown. I went to a hairstylist in Ottawa who absolutely butchered my hair. It was fried and an ugly grey and dark black mix with these white streaks. When I called the salon, Amber, the manager, was extremely charismatic, sympathetic, and eager to help. She went out of her way to reorganize the her day so that Carrie, a senior stylist, could fit me in ASAP to fix the awful mess that was my hair. When I got there, Carrie gave me a consult and told me she would fix it. During the service she was so fun to talk to and was very particular with her work. She took her time fixing it to make sure that the finished results were what I had asked for. Needless to say, when it was all said and done I was absolutely blown away!! During the consult, I showed her an inspiration picture of what I was looking for knowing that I would end up with only something similar to the picture. When she revealed the finished results.... I was speechless. She LITERALLY took what was in the inspiration picture and put it on my head. She started off with a completely destroyed mess (of someone elses doing) and gave me exactly what I wanted. Now, every time I need to get my hair done, I will happily drive the two hours from Ottawa (where I live) to Kingston. . In Conclusion: The experience was great, the people were great, and most importantly, the finished results were absolutely perfect. 10/10

10/10 experience. My hairdresser I had was Kayla L and her Instagram is @hairbykaayla. She was very helpful and very informative on what hair cut suits you personally. She communicated with me the whole time she was cutting my hair and explaining everything she was doing! She’s so kind and the experience I had was wonderful. We talked for a good five minutes on what I expected my hair to look like at the end of the appointment and then we got started with shampooing and conditioning. After she shampooed and conditioned my hair, my hair felt really soft and well scrubbed, she also gives great head massages. We then proceeded to blow dry my hair which only took 15-20 minutes and then she started to cut my hair and this is when she was very communicative throughout the whole process, making sure I was comfortable with every cut she made. The whole appointment only took about 45 minutes - 1 hour. There were many appointments that have not been booked yet considering I booked my appointment on March 1 in the afternoon and was able to get an appointment for Wednesday, March 2 anytime of the day. I am very pleased with the outcome of my hair and it feels so much healthier and soft and it looks much better as I was in desperate need of a change. Thank you Kayla L.

I went in with my sister looking for a good treatment to hydrate my hair. Usually when I go into this store the staff all ignore me gossiping to each other about clients and other staff which I find super unprofessional but that's not what happened this time. I was pleasantly surprised one of the stylist asked if I needed help and I asked for a treatment. My sister had her hair cut and styled by this lady before and she had said there was a treatment that was the best and my sister was looking for it. The problem came when the stylist told me that a different product was the best and my sister said that not the one you told me was the best the best is the one with the gold cap. The stylist got so mad she started shaking and yelled at my sister and I that she was a certified stylist and she knew what she was talking about. My sister and I just turned around and walked out it was so unprofessional and shocking. I looked behind me I could she the stylist walking to the back of the store and could still see her shaking with anger. Crazy I know! I ended up getting a product from one of the salons upstairs and i would recommend anyone else do the same avoid these people like the plaque!!!

Been here twice: once for my hair and yesterday to buy product. Very rude and condescending staff on both visits (a lot of gossiping during the hair visit). The one stylist exploded over us asking for a different hair treatment product than the one she was recommending. She was screaming and literally physically shaking during the very short exchange (we did not engage once she exploded, which was almost immediately, and simply just walked away so it wouldn't escalate the situation). All because we were asked for the treatment cap that she herself recommended to me when she did my hair previously. The majority of her screaming was about how she was a stylist and knew more than us and very condescending. Regardless of what happened before (someone else saying something that had put her on edge or stress at work) this is unprofessional behaviour. I wasn't too upset by it and just laughed even in the moment over it because it was such an out of this world over reaction, thus quite hilarious. However, it's also not very professional and other customers may indeed find that upsetting so buyer beware.

I took my 11 yr old daughter there to get her hair cut. I asked before how much it would be to cut her hair - she was with me they could see how long her hair was all they asked was her age I told them so they quoted $22.50. All we wanted was about 2.5" off the ends to clean up previous colour damage. The stylist did not wash her hair or even wet it. She spent a sum total of 15min on it. We went to the til and I was told that I owed $27.95. I can only assume the difference was some kind of long hair charge as taxes does not explain that much. I unfortunately thought it was off but was already thinking about what I needed to do next so left it. This morning I noticed that it is completely uneven and looks terrible!!! I will never go back again with either of my kids nor do I recommend them to ANYONE.

I followed my stylist Paula, when she came to Chatters Salon. She saved my hair from another stylist in Barrie, who absolutely fried it. In just three visits with Paula, my hair was soft and manageable again! She got my hair to the ashy blonde that I thought i would never be able to have as my hair pulls alot of warmth. I am so thrilled with what she did and I get compliments almost everyday because of her. Paula is an artist and a friend. She is funny, kind and caring. Very professional, I adore her! Everyone else at Chatters are so friendly and knowledgable! They are punctual and professional and I really appreciate the customer service I recieve every time i visit. If youre looking for quality and for your hair to be really cared for. Go to Chatters and ask for Paula!

Normally I have great experiences shopping here, however, tonight there were 5+ people working and only 1 person could operate the till. I picked out my product, took it to the cash, and was told by an employee that she couldn’t help me, but someone would be right with me and she walks to the staff only room. I waited and waited and waited and no one ever came. The same employee comes back out of the staff only room and looks very confused as why I’m still standing there.... then 3 other employees come over and all say “sorry, we don’t know how to use the till.” I’m curious why an employer would allow their staff to be that inexperienced.. I’d hate to see what it would have been like had they been busy ‍♀️

Myself and my daughter used this salon in the fall of 2021 and received great service. However, return we recently tried to return and we’re faced with having to cancel our appointment due to poor time management. We had an appointment scheduled and arrived 20 minutes early (yes I know it’s early but my child is 5) and we were told they were on time and our appointment would go as scheduled. We later arrived 5 minutes before our appointment and we’re told they were 30 minutes behind schedule. I was terribly upset over this as we arrived early to avoid this. At this time it is hard to say is we will return. 20 - 30 minutes behind the attitude of staff was not welcoming and no compensation was given.

I was in about a month ago now, I didn’t want to post a negative review because initially I was pretty happy. The only initial complaint I had was the girl was just quiet which made me feel a bit uncomfortable. It’s now been a month and I’m finding very SHORT pieces of hair at the top of my head hidden under hair, about 2 inch pieces. I investigated and I have these very SHORT pieces all over my head and can clearly see they have been cut. (I have long hair, down to my chest) so these pieces are considerably short. I hate that I found these so late, but we’re hidden. I won’t be returning just for the fact their customer service needs some work and I’m not to impressed I have deal with chopped hair.

I love my hair stylist/artist, Pierre. I have been having amazing haircuts from him for years. Last week I decided to change things up a bit (blonde to silver gray with purple and blue fashion colours). Pierre and I spent considerable time planning out the colour and fashion colours for the look I wanted to achieve. I came back on Saturday and Pierre spent 6 hours colouring and adding fashion colours to my never ending very thick hair. The colours are perfect! It turned out gorgeous. Pierre was extremely knowledgeable with his fashion colours and knew exactly how much to apply. He is such a caring and professional hair artist. I would recommend Pierre to anyone, you will not be disappointed.

Jess is the MOST AMAZING hair stylist and colorist. I wanted a drastic, modern change to my hair and it’s been amazing. The best change I could had hoped for! So many compliments! She really knows her stuff, and took the time to explain every step along the way, over multiple visits to get to the new color and fun haircut. She has helped me with various styling products. So knowledgeable. My three daughters have all been to Jess, and absolutely LOVE her. All have had hair cuts and special style appointments for special occasions. Jess makes getting our hair done a treat! Worth every minute we spend with Jess. If you go to this salon, ask for Jess, you will never be dissatisfied EVER!

I have been using Chatters for the last year now and have never had a bad experience. Tamara is my hairstylist and colourist and has never once disappointed me. I usually get a mixture of highlights and lowlights, the colours she picks are extraordinary and very complementary. Tamara always exceeds my hair dreams, she has made my hair so much healthier, shinier, softer and overall in a much better condition. Tamara is exceptionally professionally, has a heart of a gold, and is one of the sweetest women I have ever met. I always know I’m in the best hands with her! I could not recommend Tamara’s work more to anyone hoping to achieve their hair goals ❤️

Every time I am at Chatters I am greeted by a smile and positive attitude. Jess is my stylist and she is fantastic. When you are at the salon for a few hours, you want your experience to be enjoyable ... well ... Jess is great! She made me not only feel comfortable but was funny and someone great to hang out with for an few hours while she did a fabulous job colouring and styling my hair. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE - On January 13, 2020 I called Chatters for a Hair Color Correction. I was scheduled in with Carrie Rodriguez a Stylist at Chatters that was known as a Color Specialist. My hair was fragile as it had a recent color and it was cut very short. I was hesitant and nervous about loosing my hair. Carrie was knowledgeable, professional and very kind. She made me feel comfortable and I trusted her abilities. My hair turned out beautiful. I have never had such a brilliant, shiny, healthy looking color. Carrie did a fabulous job! I went to Chatters Hair Salon for the first time yesterday and am very happy with the service and results. Tamara is professional and friendly, and guided me in the right direction after not visiting a salon for about a year. The balayage technique she used looks natural and works well with my natural curls or when my hair is blow dried straight. Parking is free and easy to find since it's located in the mall, so you don't have to plan too far ahead or worry about getting to the appointment on time. Thank you for a great haircut and colour update. I'll defiinitely be back!

Manager was extremely rude and a pair of my Merrel brand-new boots had nail polish drippings on them Display shelf beside cash. Manager was sooo rude and abrupt hung up on me too due to miscomnications. Had Boots checked by repair service 5× yrs experience, Stated it was nail polish likely from side display of colors and a leaking bottle near cash out s pretty much the only answer. Never going near that ' rude piece of baggage' again. She's a real 'work of art" Letter to Headquarters office tomorrow. This person's nature is running a good reputation.

I discovered this gem, serendipitously called Jade, by chance - and what a chance! I have thick, curly hair and can not use permanent color because of a sensitive scalp. Jade solved all my problems. She impressed me with her terrific job. She is not only great with colors but also a talented hairdresser. An amazing professional and a nice, friendly human being. I also appreciate the prices, the incentives and the wonderful atmosphere at Chatters (in Kingston) . Thank you for making my experience great.

I can not say enough good things about the stylist that did my hair. Jessica was so amazing! She advised me against spending unnecessary money on a treatment I didn't end up needing and my hair looks absolutely fabulous! She made any little adjustments that I asked for and was perfectly happy to do so. If you come here, ask for Jess! She's been cutting hair for 12 years now and she really knows what she's doing. Every time I go in I always hope Geoff will be working! He is incredibly patient and so helpful with advice. I have a fussy teen, and use a ton of style products myself. Curly, straight, colour shampoo....he listens and gives amazing advice. It’s like shopping with a good friend. Refreshing and delightful. Can’t say enough about how great his service is! Because of him this is the only place I buy the care products and highly recommend him. Why pay salon prices....??

I loved getting my hair done here first off the amazing lady I got her Name was Jess and she is absolutely fantastic she's funny and is amazing at her job. I was really nervous because I hadn't had my hair cut in over 2 years and she helped me make choices and everything was at my pace. The salon has an amazing environment the co-workers were great joking around and laughing with Jess and I very helpful and my hair feels like hair lol I would recommend !!!!!!!

I went there to get a full head of blonde highlights and I walked out with my hair looking the exact same after spending $180 which is ridiculous when I see no results. I didn’t want to say anything so, I smiled, paid and walked out. I see no visible difference in my hair and I am very disappointed with how much I was charged. I do not recommend this place what’s so ever. Don’t spend your money here. I am extremely unsatisfied with the results. Waste of money.

I have been having Janet work with my crazy hair for 10 plus years now, she has over 35 years in the business and I am pretty sure she has seen it all. I look forward to seeing her every 4 weeks not only because she works magic and makes me feel 10 years younger, but also her smiling face and contagious laugh are a bright spot in this crazy world where so many people have lost what it means to provide good customer service. Jess H is amazing - after a 'not so great' experience she came to the rescue! I had been to Jess before but when I went to book again she wasn't available based on my work schedule - I should have just waited.. but anyways - ended up going back to Jess & she just started off by asking me what happened & really listened - then fixed it! Never a doubt in my mind when I'm in her chair & will forever make sure her chair is the only one I'm in!

I went in today to have my hair fixed - Carrie did such a great job creating the colours I was looking for! I went from a blonde to a beautiful brunette with blonde highlights. She was so friendly and really understood what I wanted. She took the time to make the colour just right for my hair and even gave me a fresh cut to top it all off. It's a very nice place, but the experience was very uncomfortable. The lady I had kept using her hands to wipe the hair off of my face, and when I requested to keep as much length on top of my head as possible she cut it to about an inch (I had about 6 inches to work with), and when washing my hair she proceeded to almost squish my face into her chest, overall I do not recommend this place for males/masculine people.

I took my 13 year old daughter to Chatters and had Paula give her highlights with shadow root. Paula has over 20 years experience in the hair industry and it shows! My daughter is very picky about her hair and now says Paula is the only person allowed to touch it. If you are considering going to Chatters ask for her, you won’t be disappointed. Carrie at chatters cut & styled my hair today. She was polite, professional, kind, patient, and meticulous with the symmetry. She was in no hurry to get us out the door, and made us feel welcome. My little sister tagged along to watch, and Carrie made her day with her compliments. Overall a 10/10 experience and we will be coming back for sure! The experience in the Salon is very lively and fun! I stopped in to see Pierre for what felt like my first professional haircut. The style alone is incredible but what gets the 5 stars was the atmosphere that was created by Pierre from having fun with his coworkers to simply telling me about himself and me doing the same. Will definitely be back after my hair gets in my face again! Keep this man!

They are over priced especially for the work that comes out of there ... shady as they like to try and steal stylists out of other salons which is absolutely disgusting especially when they walk into the salons to do so!! ... even go into these salons to get their hair done and lie about who they are. I would never trust anyone in there to do anyones hair... stay away from shady corporations....

Booked the Kingston location for my daughters wedding party. Staff was super nice and accommodating from the first phone call to us leaving. The stylists were genuinely excited about the wedding and all the ladies had fun getting ready. They all looked beautiful, hair was done as instructed and the stylists provided ideas and suggestions. Could not have been happier.

Went here because Kayla told me she was good at cutting curly hair. Started off using improper wash for curls, then blew out my hair and cut it straight. Asked for lots of layering but all said and done, doesn't even look like I got my hair cut. I will say this anytime I experience it: if you don't know how to deal with curly hair, stop telling people that you do

Haircut I got was definitely not what I wanted. Too short and not layered correctly. Editing to add: they replied asking me to submit a feedback form on their site ..I already have. Still haven't heard anything. Did eventually hear back and they offered me a free haircut credit to be used whenever... Which is nice but I'm not sure I'll be going back.

Can’t even get an appointment with them, I’ve called on 5 different occasions trying to get an appointment over the past few months and not a single answer or I’ve been hung up on. My boyfriend had a hair appointment there one time and they cancelled after already waiting 20 minutes to get into his appointment. So unorganized or they just don’t care.

Carrie was great and so helpful as always. I couldn't decide on a toner but kinda wanted to try out a balayage style for men, she came up with the perfect match on her own and shaped everything in with a shampoo & clean cut. It has been over 12 months now and I will not get my hair cut anywhere else , nor will I buy any hair care products anywhere else. Returns were difficult. Annoying that I had to explain myself to the cashier so I could get my refund. By the end of the conversation I just had to tell her I wasn’t interested in the product, I was annoyed with how much time it was taking just to explain WHY I DIDNT want the product. Prices are extremely gouged, buy online.

The girls were awesome!!!! Very polite, considering what is going on in this world of our. The lady that did my hair,she had a mask and shield on. She did a wonderful job on my hair. It was quite long,I had wanted short,she did what I wanted. It was ruffly a year ago sence it was cut.

After my daughter decided to cut her own hair the salon was nice enough to double book the lady cutting hair and help to resolve the problem that my daughter created. 100% recommend this place and the people there are so nice and friendly!!! Thank you so much!!
