Love that there is a Winners, Tim Hortons, Metro, and underground shopping mall nearby, but 1 stars for the homeless that constantly aimlessly wander and panhandle in the area. TTC station is constantly dirty/unsanitary, and smells rancid. Early in the mornings, around 6 AM ET, you can find 3 or more homeless standing on either side of the escalators and another inside near the front doors, just blankly starring at people as they walk in. Some have red sores on their face like they have been doing crack or some messed up drug. Others are intimidating and look like they are up to no good. This makes the atmosphere feel unsafe especially for women, given the above and that they are almost always older males lingering around. Inside the metro, just before you enter the underground TTC, you can always find homeless laying, sitting, or standing asking for change, constantly. Always for change, never a sign looking for a job or need resume help. There is one homeless woman in particular who smells utterly putrid, a foul egregious scent which permeates the hallways and surrounding atmosphere. Sometimes I think these homeless urinate in the halls when no one is looking because it always smells like urine and feces. There needs to be a deep routine cleaning of the TTC areas at least twice a year. ****Why does the TTC, or security who manages the shopping areas near Metro allow this behavior? Homeless wandering aimlessly through the area projects bad image on Toronto and on the TTC.**** Security and building management or TTC management need to not allow them into the building as they loiter. I know the TTC is not the greatest, but have some pride in what you do. The TTC/city better get their act together and handle this homeless issue, or Toronto will be in a mess of a homeless frenzy because it seems that there are more and more homeless in Toronto each year.

College Station has a number of major problems. Although it is well-located (and possibly partly because of that), it is often ridiculously difficult to get on a train here during rush hours. I'm talking waiting a good 20 to (sometimes) 40 minutes standing on the platform waiting as not one, not two, not three, not even four, but sometimes five or more trains come and go without a single bit of room to get on. Now, I know this is a result of the limitations of the whole TTC system, but if you can avoid getting on here, I recommend you do so. However, in addition to these busyness issues, College is in major need of a renovation — especially where it connects to College Park. The entrance there is dingy and dirty, and often has a truly vile smell. I know that this is probably largely a result of the very unfortunate homelessness situation in the area — which I completely believe is an extremely challenging situation — but the condition of this entrance really makes it feel at times like it's bad for one's health to pass through there. I don't have a prescription for the homelessness situation. But a renovation to bring cleanliness and brightness to the station and its entrances would be a very welcome change for all of those who pass through every day. As for the busyness... well, I've been standing here writing this review for the past I don't even know how long. Better to walk over to Queen's Park! Next time, for sure!!!

One of the worst subway systems around the world. This being said after having tried subways in more than 20 cities in 4 continents. The whole thing seems to be falling apart with constant breakdowns of trains and stations. Let alone the fact that Toronto has experienced a surge of both residential and non-residential growth in the past 30 years and the subway system belongs to 1950s. Trains are old, staff are untrained, stations are small and narrow... worst of all is pricing and sales. They still use tokens! no RFID card! You can not charge or register a card. With the advancements in technology and the city being host to one of the best tech Startup studios like Mars and Blanc Labs, using no technology in payment cards and gates is a tragedy.

The actual subway station is small and has 3 exits/entrances in total (one exits to shoppers /bulk barn on ground level; one exits into College Park; one exits right beside Rolltation). It is not wheelchair friendly and there are no elevators. College park has a newly renovated food court and there is a Metro, Farm boy, starbucks and dollarama inside. Planet fitness is also there. The subway station is extremely busy during rush hour (like many other centrally located stations).

The Toronto public transit system is by far the best I have ever used. It has enabled me to no longer need a car, and in so doing, has given me a totally new and more relaxed view on life. College station is not the cleanest station in the system. It often smells like a urinal, but then, people are not using the station as a camping ground, just as a means of getting on and off the subway. It serves that purpose well, and gives easy access to several stores.

The absolute worst station we have. Not a single day have I walked through without it smelling like a public bathroom. There are always people begging for money. The attendants do nothing to keep the station clear of noisy and belligerent people. I've witnessed people smoking on the platform and no authority comes to intervene. This station has serious issues.

  • Lori Zwicker

Very busy station both with people leaving and entering the train. The station isn't the cleanest, but that's gonna happen in a subway station. If you're getting on a train during rush hour and can go to Dundas instead, do it. Tons of people try to get on at College, but no one gets off to make room, so it can take 2-3 trains before you get a chance.

The worst station possible. No wheelchair access or baby stroller access. No automatic door openers, no accessibility. And to top it off, when entering the station and paying your fare at the ticket booth, there is a terminal for wheelchairs but then no elevators down to the subway platform, only and escalator. Is that meant as a joke?

Avoid this subway station like the plague, head to Wellesley, Bloor, or Queens Park if possible. The location during rush hour means it’s always packed. In addition, the high population of homeless and mentally ill surrounding the area means you may be harassed or yelled at once inside. It also smells god awful.

  • Ed Poon

Gawd Awful. Northbound trains are absolutely full during rush hour and you often have to wait 3-4 trains to pass by before you can squish into a train with minimal space to breathe, by which time the lineups are building in the station quicker than you can load people on trains.

Cleanliness and air quality are two huge issues, particularly the underground connection to College Park. Poor accessibility is another issue. There are no elevators, just stairs and escalators. If not for the cool hockey-related displays, I'd have given just 1 star.

  • Austin Lovering

Decent station. Overall pretty well-oiled machine. I will say it often smells bad which prevents me from going up to a 5th star but I’ve been coming here for 8-10 years and it’s a reliable, straight-forward station. Plus the artwork on the platform is nice.

  • Maral Vafaei

This is the worst station I have seen in my life. Very dirty, always smells like garbage. Also there isn't a day that ttc line is without problem. Ttc charges us with loads of money every time and the service in response is really poor. I hate ttc:(

  • Stephen Brown

I took this photo just after the snow fell on Yonge Street at College. When the snow is first on the ground, and it is all white, it looks very beautiful. So you can see people going out for a walk just to take a look at the snow. It is quite fun.

  • Ivan Horyn

Probably the worst station in Toronto. Wondering how often they clean it. Tried pointing out some things to the TTC staff but they pretended they could not see it and when I pointed out again they pretended they could not hear it.

  • Dillon H

This is a busy downtown stop. If you have a choose exit the college park side, south west. The other exits are dirty, urine filled and popular homeless shooting up and sleeping spots. It's not what it use to be!

  • Rabin Ramah

Crowded. Confusing with exits signage to street level, College Street and Yonge Street. Not a very attractive Train Station. Can be dirty. It's a marathon run to make connections to Streetcar above.

  • mj s

Not to be confused with the sandwhich shop which is nearby. It’s Yonge Station what can be said, it can be a bit sketchy at night and it can get a bit dirty. It’s what you expect with the ttc.

  • Simone Hillier

Waited for 3 full trains at 4:30 pm. going Northbound...before crossing over to the near empty Southbound train. Took a little more time to get to Bloor but was well worth it !

  • Brad Pearson

the subway station is nice and people are very helpful and very happy. The station does get busy. The station is nicely layout and is very fast moving

  • Blake Haworth

Smells terrible, illnesses, homeless people this station is not the best but does have great service but not great bus options or streetcars

  • Marlon Levin

too many vagrants and loiterers on the street corner and below in the subway tunnels leading from College Park. Clean up your act Toronto!

  • Simon Tian

Dirty and smelly subway station. There are always homeless people hanging around at the entrances, making me feel unsafe at night.

  • Sydney Eatz

One of the cooler subway platforms - there are huge murals of hockey players along the platform - A Richard Trus review

  • Nyx Cole

Was told there was wheelchair access, there is NO wheelchair access from the train up to the main level or vice versa.

  • M CG

Some good eye candy over there The platform had fare inspectors and was crowded Ttc workers looked very uninterested

  • Miriam Smith

Because of the renovation, it is hard for someone with mobility issues to come from the subway levels to upstairs.

  • Timothy Brown

No accessible at College Station. But they are doing construction to resolve the problem of accessibility access.

  • Arthur Berry

The food court at college park mall has been renovated, lots more sitting room, new washrooms are not far off.

  • Em

Why bother rating a train station? Five stars cause it's not filled with ghosts that tell you racist jokes!

  • Lyanne Korona

Listen, it's a subway station. And not even one of the nice ones. It'll do its job though.

  • Robert Williamson

It's a subway station. Don't expect too much. It has good connections to the streetcar.

  • Afzal Rahman

Not a bad walk from College to Ryerson. Or College->Streetcar->Church St->Ryerson.

  • Emily Allison

That one hallway going up towards the metro/winners always smells like pee.

  • Abdollahi Tunkara

  • Kingsley Paramanantham

No accessible Elevators. Dirty with unclean floors. Need major overhaul.

  • Yerson Cordon
