I am absolutely horrified and furious at the barbaric treatment I received at this facility. I came in here yesterday due to what I felt was a mental health emergency. I was in the middle of a mental breakdown due to severe anxiety and started having suicidal ideations, like I would be better off if I wasn’t alive. I waited in the waiting room for a half hour, was then triaged and put into a quarantine like room with a shut door for over 45 minutes without any interaction. I began to get hysterical and a volunteer yelled at me through the door. I had no idea what she was saying but she was very hostile and began asking the police on staff what my name was and if they were with me, I had come there myself. Finally a nurse came in and gave me Ativan, which I told her doesn’t work for me and never has. She said there was nothing she could do so I was forced to take a medicine that I stated did not work for me against my will. A few minutes after she left I walked out of my room and told them that I didn’t feel comfortable with the treatment I was relieving and wanted to go home. They said they would speak with the doctor. No longer than 10 minutes later, a nurse and 3 male cops come in with a bin and a blue jumpsuit. I was forced to strip naked, be “wanded” by a male cop with my breasts and genitals exposed, had my things yanked from me and was forcefully motioned into the bed by another male cop. All while begging to call my mother or boyfriend and these cops responding with “you’re not going to be calling anyone anymore today”, the female nurse did not say one word and forced my legs into the jumpsuit. I was then LOCKED in this room, then told to “calm down and take deep breaths” The “good cop” aka the only person on staff that treated me with any form of human decency told me this happens at least 5 times a day at this facility and this is a “blanket treatment” for anyone experiencing a mental health emergency. He also told me that this was one of the BEST places to get treatment for a crisis!!! If you are experiencing a mental health emergency PLEASE DO NOT GO TO COMMUNITY SOUTH. It is 2020 and no human being should ever be treated that way. Nor should cops be involved in these situations. I am horrified at how barbaric this experience was. Do better.
My husband was taken by ambulance to the ER and was taken back fairly quickly. He was in excruciating pain from his back. They gave him Valium and a strong ibuprofen. I understand they don’t immediately give something stronger, but he could not get comfortable and was moaning in pain and it took over 2 hours to get testing done and then finally received pain meds and then eventually saw the dr. For results. Give him something extra to help him be less agitated. There has to be non-narcotic meds they can give him just he can rest comfortably. Why does it take 4 hours to see a Dr and it’s just the nurse that assesses you in the ER? We came in at 4:30am and the place was dead. Then you push the nurse button and it takes them over 30 min to respond. Then they come in and think he already had his scan done and says they will go find out what is going on and never come back to inform you. It’s not that hard to come back and just say they are backed up and they will be with you in an hour or just an idea so we’re not sitting there wondering and getting frustrated. If there is not enough staff on hand there’s a problem. Why can there not be a chair with padding in the ER? I know they don’t expect people to be waiting long, but with that slow of service they could use a padded chair. Also, see the attached pictures. The floor was so dirty, like it hasn’t been cleaned in quite a while. Huge clumps of dust, needle caps and iv parts laying around. Gross. This was not the only bad experience we’ve had there. We had an aunt be sent home that ended up having a brain injury that probably could have been treated and she ended up going back 2 weeks later, was admitted, sent to a nursing home, to be sent back to the hospital to end up dying. No, our uncle didn’t sue, but he should have. A mother who had terminal cancer who would sit 4-6 hours at a time to just be admitted to the hospital. Why do we still go here? It’s the closest. I actually tried St. Francis with my last ER visit and that was horrible too. People just don’t seem to care anymore. So if I ever think I have something major I should go to Johnson Memorial I guess. It seems to have the best reviews. Too bad it’s at least a 20 min drive for us.
My wife has had a problem with chronic endometriosis for the past seven years. She went into the ER today at this location due to severe stomach pain. At this time (8:45pm) she has currently been in the hospital for over six hours having only done an ultrasound and having gotten no results back to her. Three hours after getting her ultrasound she was informed that it would be 4 to 5 hours before she would get results because whoever was reading the ultrasound results at the time was that far behind. An hour and a half after getting that information she was told that they would have to add at least an hour on to that due to a mixup with different ultrasounds. While I completely understand that things happen, if something like this were to happen shouldn’t someone at the location in charge possibly call in someone else that could assist and get caught up so you don’t have people waiting an entire day for no apparent reason? Or send the patients home that don’t show symptoms of being life threatening? At this point I am honestly wondering if we should even trust the results from whoever is reading the ultrasound because if they are this far behind I can only assume that the person “or people” are stressed and overworked “due to not having anyone to help them apparently“. And if that is the case, how do I know that they are reading the results correctly? It’s a well-known fact that reading and correctly comprehending anything when stressed or exhausted can become incredibly inaccurate. I have been told that she is free to leave any time “as long as she signs it AWA“ which if you don’t know, basically ensures that your insurance will not cover anything to do with that visit. This has now made my wife feel as though she is being held in prison because all she wants at this point is to leave the building and go home but knows that she is not able to. Frankly it is ridiculous that my wife now feels as though she is being held hostage due to the blatant incapability of the people working in this location being able to actually do their jobs.
I came into the hospital, having a hard time, trying to breathe because of my asthma, and because of my asthma, my heart has been accelerating for the last two days, and when I got mad at the front Dess from the time, I came, drove up in a car and walk to the front desk. The lady she had an attitude they all were looking at me like I was some kind of f foreign in person coming in today I like I didn’t belong in, so she got nasty and down right in indignant with me about my last name and I couldn’t breathe so that didn’t even make any sense to argue with me. I just needed to be seen so I could be so I can see so I can breathe. I am because I was having such a hard time talking and breathing they took me back after telling me I had to take a seat so I walk over to the chair and then they called my name after I use that energy that I didn’t have to use so I’m going to back and I get met by two nurses and the nurse that nurse started asking me questions like right away and I had just came all the way back there from the front all way to the back and I couldn’t breathe and I couldn’t talk and I was like you know you could just look up in the nose to see 00 to see my records you know I’ve been in the hospital I’ve been in this hospital you can find everything you need to know and she got kind of nasty with me and then she once she took care of me she didn’t come back like I was a problem and I know I wasn’t so then after I got out of the ER and went to observation they put me in a room with a can monitor my heart with a heart monitor and I was one of the main reasons why I came in here today and I’ve called the governor and I called him here and being that today is a holiday. I can’t get in touch with nobody. This hospital seems to be the worst as far as taking care of people .
Wish i could give negative stars because this was by far the worst hospital i have ever been to. My mother was here for back surgery and we are both utterly disgusted with the staff, food, and general process of the entire visit. Don't get me wrong there were a few nurses that were very nice and attentive, but there were more who were extremely rude, disrespectful, and inattentive. My mom was constantly waiting on a nurse to help her when she would turn on her call light frequently waiting 30-45 minutes for pain medications. One overnight nurse opened her supportive girtle and misaligned it or somethinf and my mom was in pain all night and no one did a thing to help her until i got there the next morning. The next overnight nurse was flat out rude and borderline hostile when i requested help getting my mother back to bed after waiting for over an hour for help and letting her know my mother was in pain and requested her pain medication. She was told at 7AM that she would be released and she is still not ready to leave by 530PM. I did not feel comfortable leaving my mother here by herself for fear her needs would not be met and she would not be properly cared for. After her 2nd surgery (she had 2 surgeries in 2 days) i was waiting in the surgery waiting area and i was told she was going to be transported to her room upstairs and i could meet her up there but after i went up there i waited for an hour! I could have been downstairs comforting her but i was told to go to her room. I tried both the food in the cafeteria and the patient food and i cannot say i am extremely impressed with either. If you have an option as to which hospital you go to, i would strongly suggest PICKING A DIFFERENT ONE!
Went in on Sunday morning with very painful swallowing, worried I had step with a pregnant wife and two little ones at home. The nurse/doctor I saw (Sagar?) insisted it wasn’t strep and didn’t even want to test me for it and seemed to just want me to leave. Said I just had pharyngitis, and either way instead of prescribing me antibiotics insisted that a steroid was the way to go (and a better medical treatment which I’m unsure of after speaking with other healthcare professionals now). Of course, 36 hours go by and it gets way worse and I’m having a reaction to my arm to the **oral** steroid that he made me take. Go back to the ER on Monday night and the triage nurse treated me like she thought I was making it all up and then told me I’d probably have to wait 4+ hours to be seen..this was nearly midnight, so I called Johnson Memorial in Franklin who mentioned no wait at that time. I get there (way better staff and experience) and they’re like..of course you probably have strep by one glance at my throat, and ordered a strep test that came back positive right away. So now I’ve exposed my 8 month pregnant wife, 1 year old, and 3 year old all to strep even longer without starting antibiotic’s because the Community staff is too busy (granted most of the talk they were so busy making was about wanting to go to the cafeteria and about each others weekend) to actually do their job. Also, research what meds they’re giving you, because clearly they might not always be giving you the best option (probably the most money making option for the hospital). Will never go back to this place again.
Labor and Delivery experience was the worst experience in patient care in healthcare I’ve ever witnessed. My daughter gave birth today with Dr Perry who is wonderful and who apologized for the rudeness and the behavior of the charge nurse, the unit coordinator and my daughters night nurse. Night shift literally was a nightmare. My daughter labored hard and myself and her fiancé who lived 4 hours a way, the charge nurse Claire told me at 1130 pm (when we were almost asleep and resting that only visitor could stay the night even though she was in active labor) they didn’t care that my daughter begged, they said policy sorry…. When grace asked to speak to Dr Perry she refused. I asked for a patient advocate bcs the patient was clearly distressed and upset and she said there’s no one here and brought the unit coordinator who threatened to involve security even though I reminded her this was a birth plan approved by the doctor in the patients chart and ok’d. I asked how she was patient centered focused in this situation and again asked for the doctor or patient advocate and she just rolled her eyes, and said well “looks like one of you has to leave, it’s policy, but you can come back when she was 6cm dilated and she was already at 4cm. I slept in my car for three hours and came back in. The rudest most uncaring nursing staff .. and their equipment is outdated. The shower baby monitors that moms wear were over twenty years old.
When I first got here in the emergency room, one of the main nurses gave me an IV and it hurt and he told me the whole deal and then never put no thing on it to hold it down and then the doctor came in and said that he was admitting me And then I went upstairs and the doctor had ordered a CT scan and I went in there and a guy nurse that who is doing the test said you’re bleeding I said what and I swear no I’m not and I was the IV had came out and fell on the floor and blood was everywhere And then he went to put another one in and he was hurting me and I was like oh my God I don’t know what it is with you guys. He said hold steel before you pull this one out they’re rude. They were rude and then I got to my room, and then it became , everybody for two days they were super super nice well the second night I got a woman named Kim and she likes authority and she treated me like I was five and we we had words back-and-forth and she said, and I know Missy you didn’t roll your eyes at me And there is more I don’t wanna go into detail right now but and then there was another Kim that came in that’s her friend and there’s another doctor that came in. His name is Rob oh they’re all three friends like the Three Stooges and she just said to me oh my God, Rob’s gonna be here in a minute like I should be scared of him . I won’t be back here. I’m done. I had a lot more bad experience with Tim three since I’ve been here.
My husband and I went to the emergency room Sunday 9/17/23. We got there at about 12:30 pm he was in a lot of pain. We thought it may have been kidney stones or his diverticulitis flaring up again. They gave him a oxygen tank because his oxygen was low. The women at the desk and the check in stations were all on their phones, showing face book pics meanwhile his oxygen ran out. I finally got the attention of one of them who gave him a new tank! We waited and waited and finally were able to get into a room at 3:30pm!! That was just to get into the room that's not including the additional 30 min to see the Dr. They wanted to give him fentanyl for his pain which he really didn't want. The nurse tells me it's up to the Dr. to say yes or no to changing the medicine even after my husband stated he doesn't want fentanyl because he's never had it and requested morphine because that's what has been given to him in the past and it actually helped the pain! I will NEVER go to Community South again!! I can't believe this hospital operates this way!! The bad part is there weren't even that many people waiting so I don't know if there's a staff shortage or if everyone was on Face book or watching the game, but it was ridiculous and really sad that people are treated this way especially when they are suppose to be there to help people. No compassion, no urgency..just sad!
Wednesday afternoon my mom was brought in by ambulance to ER. Did normal test. Offered her fentanyl!! My mother has congested heart failure among many other issues. Was told by ER Doctor she was fine, had a sinus infection.. Said didn't need antibiotics, and sent us home. But mind you OFFERED FENTANYL!! So I willingly took my mother out of that hospital that night!!! And today she went for another check up at Community East. And guess where we are. In ER waiting to be admitted.. Why? Because she has a severe infection in her body!! And come to find out her white blood count was not fine last Wednesday. It was high!! My mom unfortunately has to visit community south 1 to 2 times a week, never have had an issue. But the staff and the Dr. On working last Wednesday failed miserablely!!! She was brought in roughly around 3p.m. by ambulance because she was to weak for me to help her get in car. And left that hospital in the same condition. And now extremely dangerous issues going on. If some one wants to contact me, feel free. But I can tell you now, the ball was dropped. I could have dealt with all of this and gotten over it. But now after hearing this medical staff tell me her labs were not good. I have a problem with that.
I wish there was an option to give ZERO STARS!! I finally got my daughter transferred out of this incompetent place that call themselves a hospital. I don’t even know where to begin. First off, her monitor was saying she had no pulse. Rather than bringing in a new monitor, they just shut hers off completely. My daughter weighs a 100 pounds soaking wet, she’s very tiny. They had her weight listed in her chart as 259 pounds. This could’ve resulted in so many medical mistakes as far as medications. They noted to give medications through her g-tube! Guess what? MY DAUGHTER HAS NO G-TUBE AND NEVER HAS! I also had a nurse tell me I was “just SOL” because I couldn’t be there at 6am when the doctors rounded because well I also have a job to maintain. This was so unprofessional! You do not speak to patients family like that! Last but not least, my daughter thought she was NPO and when I got there after her being there for over 24 hours, I asked the nurse “Why is she NPO?” And she said “She’s not” so they let her go for over 24 hours with no food or water for no medical reasoning or purpose whatsoever! If you or your loved one needs medical care, I would highly suggest going anywhere but here!
If I could give 0 stars I would. Waited 8 hours in the ER to confirm that I have the Flu (I already diagnosed myself based off my symptoms). Checked in at 7:25pm and didn’t leave until almost 3:30am. I watched people come in hours after me be seen by the DR and sent home long before I was looked at. After waiting 6 hours I asked when I would be seen and was told there was 5 people ahead of me. 2 hours later I am finally looked at by the DR for literally 30 seconds. I told them the list of my symptoms and said they I hadn’t ate an actual meal in 3 days and that I was also dehydrated. The only test they did was a nasal swab for the Flu/Covid. No IV for fluids to help my dehydrated, no chest X-ray for my cough that’s now causing abdominal pains, nothing besides a nasal swab. The test came back positive for the Flu and they were hesitant on prescribing me Tamiflu even tho I told them OTC medicine was not working the past 3 days. Turns out Tamiflu is on national backorder, something a hospital should be aware of. DO NOT GO HERE FOR ANYTHING. You’re better off waiting for an appointment at a medcheck or going to another hospital.
I am a patient of several physicians within this network and last night in the ER, I disappointingly experienced a very bad episode of Grey's Anatomy. The young male nurse that was assigned to me was rude, inconsiderate and had no compassion at all. I am a fall risk and was left unattended on the gurney with out a guard rail. Not given a call button, I had to kind of yell for help to get to the bathroom hooked up to cords and an IV that was hanging all the way behind the gurney. Another nurse came in and tossed the remote to me and touched my arm with the sensitive IV in my inner elbow. Having not being able to sleep for over 40 hours, I was naturally already agitated and upset.. I wasn't shown any respect in a friendly way. Then I was released without a sleep prescription, dizzy and drugged due to a chronic anxiety attack for the reason I came in, they disconnected me and told me tat I can go. No wheelchair was offered and had to find my way out on my own. If this is you guys treat your regular patients, how would you treat your family member?
My step daughter went in this morning, due to having blurred vision in one eye, and even at times having her vision go in and completely out. They took her back right away, which was great. They ended up having to do a CT scan which was completed at 11 AM and we had the results emailed to us at that time. We still have not heard an update from a doctor. This is over an hour later. Once she returned back to the room, she was not hooked back up to any type of monitoring system. She has been extremely cold for the last three hours and would not have had any type of blanket, unless the polite transport gentleman had given her a blanket. She was supposed to be issued Zofran almost 2 hours ago and still has not received it. Absolutely remarkable that this could happen especially more so that she is a child. I would not recommend going here even if it was a last resort. There are other hospitals nearby, like Saint Francis, that move with a sense of urgency. It seems like some of the nurses and doctors have lost their passion to help people.
Idk if this place has a staff shortage or what but it’s horrible. Was refered by a medcheck to come to the emergency room and we waited almost 7 hours to be seen. The waiting room had a woman with a blister on her foot the size of a shot pull and her toes were purple , another woman’s shoe was completely red from slicing her leg, one guy was puking and shaking!! They just kept telling him to sit down. He finally left after several hours , lots of people didn’t even get seen and had no choice but to try another hospital. It was an absolute madhouse. All that time to wait and we get seen to have a ct scan done and sent on our way. Not thorough what so ever. Still leaving in a lot of pain. Wouldn’t recommend going here . If you’re not actively on your death bed (even then I’m not sure ) , you probably will wait awhile in most nights to be seen. I seen so many people cut ahead of us for upset tummies ect , while dealing with swollen organs. Seems fair. Don’t go here.
Absolutely stellar treatment. I left St. Francis officially for this hospital. I went to the emergency room at 5am for severe nerve pain in my tooth. It was infected and I can't get to the dentist until the 1st of August. Everyone from check-in to the Dr. Was purely stellar. Even the polite man with registration tried to make my visit more soothing. We talked about shoes and random things to keep my mind off of the pain while I watched the fresh prince and he was able to maneuver the conversation for my information. I was truly impressed and I'm shocked to see that anyone could give them a bad review. The E.R. Dr. Didn't take up a gang load of my time, she got right to the point in assessing my needs for care and promptly prescribed the correct medication that St. Francis was unable to due to incompetence. Not even 5 minutes later I received my prescriptions and I was on my way. Thanks so much for the great care community south!!!
I have never in my life been to a hospital as bad as this one! HORRIBLE!! I came in with 14 year old daughter around 10:30pm and here it is almost 6am and we are still here waiting on test results! They don’t offer family comfortable chairs or nothing while they are waiting on them to slowly do their jobs, at least at St Francis they will offer a comfortable spot to sit. Very unprofessional rude staff on night shift as well. We had just arrived and I was texting my husband telling him we just got into the back and a nurse just walking by stuck her head in the door and said you can’t record I said I wasn’t recording I’m texting my husband and she rolled her eyes and walked out! If I wanna record my child that I gave birth to I can as long as I have none of the other patients or staff in my video I think that’s okay! NEVER AGAIN WILL I GO TO THIS SLOW UNPROFESSIONAL HOSPITAL STEAR CLEAR OF THIS PLACE IF YOU WANT GOOD TREATMENT!
My son (8 months old) was in the ER (brought by ambulance) tonight (9/12/2020). The ambulance who brought me swore several times they could only take me and my son to Community South and not our preferred and regular hospital of St. Francis. I let it go due to the state my son was in. We arrived and were placed in a room that wasn't cleaned well. The information patient sheet read that the previous patient was there for altered mental behavior and their personal information was about. The doctor was in and out and then came the time to weigh my son...he was placed on a bed scale that had dried dripped blood all over the back half.. I was mortified..but then...they gave my son a pink bunny that had tiny dried finger prints on the front and dried blood on the back. I prompted discharge and am now on the way to St. Francis. The nurse had zero understanding of Covid and the Covid test swab either.
i have been in severe pain for the past week and decided i would go to the ER for some relief even though as a cis gendered woman i almost never get taken serious by any male doctors i went ahead and came here i should have believed the low rating but figured people just didn't feel good ,i was wrong i spent 4 hours in a made up hospital bed in the hallway freezing watching every othe patient get a room and seen i sat there in absolute agony when i was finally seen i was diagnosed with a mograinw and pit on a IV and never was completely questioned why i was there or anything just ignored i seen 2 completely different DRs and 3 different nurses this hospital is completely unorganized and unprofessional do your self a favor and go to a different hospital i believe that the DRs need to go back to medical school and study the human body again since the pain i a was in wasnt a simple migraine
Came in yesterday because I was in a car accident. Lots of cramping, could barley walk, crying and 10.5 weeks pregnant. I was in the ER waiting room for over 3 hours as I watched everyone else who checked in AFTER me, go into rooms. I was there July 16th, they said I wasn't pregnant. 9 days later, they then confirmed the pregnancy with more tests. 1 week later I went back cause of heavy bleeding, waited 2 hours in the ER waiting room, again, everyone else AFTER me getting seen. Yesterday I overheard two triage nurses talk negatively about me and my pregnancy. The same triage nurse was rude as she was checking my BP. I told her I was there 2 weeks ago with heavy bleeding. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL AND THEY DONT CARE ABOUT PREGNANT WOMEN!! DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME GOING HERE IF YOU'RE PREGNANT. YOU'LL BE THERE FOR HOURS AS YOU'RE BLEEDING AND CRAMPING, WONDERING IF YOUR BABY IS GONNA BE OKAY!!!
After my sister who lives Alone battled covid for 6 days, couldn't hardly walk, couldn't keep anything down, high fevers, and difficulty breathing I took her to the ER. They wouldn't let me stay with her which I understood but I believe this is how these people slip through the cracks, they're not up to fighting for themselves and so they have no advocate. Anyway she waited 5 and a half hours. By the time they got her back her HR was 110 her temp was 102 and so they started an iv. Gave her half a bag. Did an xray and some blood tests and sent her on her way. I picked her up (mind u nothing had changed but her HR had come down a Little her fever was the same and she was having difficulty walking. They wheeled her out. I got her in the door at her house and she about fell over on me. Check her oxygen and it's 83. Why would you discharge her community south?? I pray she makes it
I took my daughter to this hospital last weekend. She needed stitches in her jaw. When we arrive to check-in there's a metal detector you walk through to get to the receptionist. A cop sits next to the receptionist to scan your ID and give you a name tag. Two up. We get checked in and my daughter goes back to a room immediately for care. This happened on a Saturday. My daughter gets seen by 2 Physicians Assistants. They're very professional in explaining what's needed and reassuring my daughter everything will be ok. The reason for the 2 stars is after everything is said and done, neither Physicians Assistant gives her any antibiotics for her wound after stitching her jaw so guess what, we had to come back Sunday bc it had gotten infected. Makes me think they didn't clean it properly before stitching. Now we have another emergency room bill.
my father In Law was there for 16 days He has a Pacemaker and has a blood thinning issue, but was infor a giant septsis Cyst on outer Level. While 5 doctors discussed the Best care going forward the would schedule him for Surgery and then the surgeon couldn't get to him that day or the next-So my Loved one dwindle away until a Nurse was considerate enough to follow up with Surgeon to see if he could at least have liquids. Fortunately this was granted. During the time He was given Stoolsoftners and expected not move. After many attempts to get assistance to bathroom 30 minutes Response time...well Bowel movements happen. My Sweet loved one lay there while. 1/2 Quarte of fluid Penetrated his right lung I had to Listen to him Gasp for Air until medical Staff rrial realized he needed highung drained. This is the care You can expect here.
I got a breast reduction done at the surgery center, and every single person we saw, even the ones that weren't directly interacting with us, was INCREDIBLE. Everyone made sure to tell me what was going on at any given moment, they meticulously checked details before I went under, and they were all so incredibly kind and caring. The nurses, anesthesiologists, receptionist, and not to mention my surgeon, Dr. Hsiao, and his office were always fantastic to me. And then the surgery itself went smoothly with no complications, and I'm not feeling too shabby the day after either! 10/10 would recommend for a breast reduction. Edit: special thanks to PA Victoria West Arnold, nurse Shae, and especially Dr. Hsiao. His final words after my last post op was "all good relationships must come to an end".
I delivered my second child here at the community Hospital South in Greenwood, the best experience of my life, all the Doctors in Nurses are truly angels, very knowledgeable and helpful. I'm so blessed I found this place to delivered my child ❤ 5 stars are not enough to recommend this amazing place. 100.000.000 stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Thanks to their help my baby girl was delivered smoothly and is a healthy, happy baby. Thanks to such a supportive staff and comfortable birthing environment my Second pregnancy was a great success in Jesus name. To God be all the glory! May The Lord bless you all and keep you. May the Lord make his face shine on each one of you and be gracious to you all. May the Lord turn his face toward you and give each and everyone of you peace. Merry Christmas to you all!!!
I gave it a one star because of the waiting room staff being accommodating. I went in at 9:26pm for blood pressure issues on 6/28/21. It was exactly 11:54 when I asked to be released. After the initial registry me as well as several other patients sat for hours waiting to be seen while they were calling absolutely no one back. A woman complained she waited 4 hours to be seen before finally asking to be released. I literally watched over 16 people including children and the elderly leave the lobby to go elsewhere. This used to be a great hospital I grew up coming here and now unfortunately I’d have to say within the last 2 years it has greatly declined. I understand staffing and there being fewer doctors at night, but it is pathetic that NO ONE was seen in the entire time I was there.
I have been here 2 different times due to heart complications. They ran the same test both times saying I was fine. They don’t care if you don’t have money. They only care to get u in and out. We’re the doctors that genuinely care about there patients and what’s wrong with them? My grandma were here twice and they sent here home both times and 12 hours later she died. I told them the IV they had in me didn’t feel right and was hurting more then usual and I left the hospital w a slap on the wrist and a completely bruised forearm. I wouldn’t not recommend this hospital to anyone. They don’t care. As I was there I heard one of the nurses say “did they order anything fun” and I was having blood test ran an a chest X-ray. For neck pain and chest pain you think they would order an mri ?
My 8 month old daughter had a really bad fever at 103 degrees and we went since a friend of mines told me they are really fast and faster than St. Francis so me and my wife did and we went at 3:00pm. They checked her temperature and then made us sit in the waiting room. We sat there until 7:00pm and my daughters fever started getting even more worse. As we are waiting we noticed they were calling names of people who just got there. We asked them why they haven’t called us yet and it’s been 4 hours and they said they had no more rooms. We then sat again for another 20 minutes and told them we’re gonna leave and go to a different hospital and their response was “ok” and nothing else. I definitely do not recommend this hospital and next time would only go to St. Francis.
Took 4 hours to see my child with a broken hand. Put us in fast track in a room the size of a broom closet and forgot about us. Asked doctor and nurse for pain medication for my child because she was shaking and crying from the pain, they finally showed up with one pain pill at discharge and sent her home in an ill fitting splint with no medicine and a referral to orthopedic. PA Chris had a bad bedside manner and didn't address our concerns or seem like he cared at all. The nurse named Eric was nice was the only thing I can even say positive about the whole experience. Left a bad review when asked to take a survey, it's been a week and still no one has contacted me about our experience. We will be using St Francis from now on.
Our experience was horrible from the beginning. My wife wad totally left out of being with me prior to my surgery. I asked 3 different nurses to bring her back but not one could take the time. Needless to say she was quite worried, stressed and angry. She has always been beside before even the most minor of surgeries. And the care I received after I was taken to my room was inefficient, somewhat uncaring and in some cases neglectful. It would seem your hospital staff is either short on help or greatly overworked. We have always used Community Hospitals for our health issues. This was our first experience with South. Hopefully, our last. We both feel that patient/family care and compassion is lacking.
I was taken into the ER. The front desk lady Cara was a nightmare. I was in horrible pain and she was so rude and cold, I don’t understand how she has a job in this field. I’ve never been treated like this by anyone. If I was just giving her a rating she would get one star. But when I was actually taken back to my room, my nurse Lizzie and my doctor (didn’t catch his name) they were so compassionate and actually cared what was going on with me . They got right to the problem and helped me manage my pain without keeping me in the ER all day. I’m very grateful for them. But again, they should really get rid of that Cara lady at the ER front desk. She was so very very awful.
I just went to this hospital today because my son just had surgery and he was complaining about his ears. They said there wasn’t any available rooms available for us. I waited and waited in the HOSPITAL HALLWAY for HOURS and HOURS, and they attended to us in the HALLWAY, a hospital room is WAY more CONVENIENT! Out of ALL of my hospital experiences, never have I ever experienced this because this hospital is just the worst! Claimed that they didn’t have any hospital rooms available but I saw people going in and out the rooms! 0/10 stars for this hospital. If there was an option to rate it 0/10 I would! They treated me like trash, maybe due to my skin color!
This is a terrible hospital. I’ve waited years to say something. But I went here in 2017 in excruciating pain, got back to a room and the two nurses assigned to my case said “you look fine, we’re discharging you” ….this was based on how I looked and they didn’t do any blood work or anything. I came back the next day and turns out I have appendicitis and needed emergency surgery. I told the nurses working that day what happened the night before and they were appalled but seemed to know who those two idiots were. Don’t ever come here, unless you want to possibly have an emergent issue that gets thrown to the side.
Mom (Evelyn K) little old 84 year old that everyone loved was a patient on the 5th floor room 5119 Tara Bre Van Gabrielle just to name a few they were so attentive and very sweet to my mother. All the staff was so great and friendly. I walked in one day and she had a beautiful bouquet of flower's from them at the hospital. I wish I had more names to add to the list but I don't remember names to well. And mom was so ready to go home but cried tears as she was leaving and told them all she loved them. Thank you staff for taking such excellent care of my mother ❤️ much Love from mom and me Tammy!
Brought my bf to the hospital due to severe lower abdominal pain. Made us wait 4 1/2 hours just to do a cat scan. Then proceeded to tell us nothing was wrong and sent him home with no pain meds after KNOWING how much pain he was in. We sat in the room 80% of the time (4 hours) ALONE with no answers, no check ins, etc. They didn’t even try to figure out what was wrong. Told him to call back two days later to reschedule an appointment. Absolutely not. We’re not waiting 4 1/2 hours for you to reject a patient again. If 0 ⭐️’s was an option, that what the hospital’s rating would have gotten.
I went into labor at this hospital. The staff was amazing with understanding my needs and really gave my family the space to bond with baby without a ton of interruption. They allowed baby to stay in the room my entire stay. This made me feel very safe and comfortable with my entire experience. My doctor was amazing and delivered baby in a timely fashion and understood my labor needs. Highly suggest birthing with Dr Ipema at this hospital. Only Con is the beds are very uncomfortable for mom and guest. But for the 10/10 nurse staff and hospitality,it’s worth it.
If I could give 0 ⭐️ I would! Was in the ER yesterday with chest pains, was immediately given EKG appreciated that, but once I got to the back and the doctor came in, she was in my room really quick, didn’t let me finish explaining everything, no examination, nothing, before she went out the door, very rude! After some testing, she did it again explaining nothing was wrong real quick and was gone, and the nurse followed with, “I know it’s hard to leave without knowing what’s wrong with you”! Really?! No Compassion, 1st & last time going there, it’s a NO for me!
Be prepared to wait 3 or more hours. I arrived at 1:12 am and here I am still in the waiting room and it's already 3:00 am. My husband is suffering a lot and we will continue here. I remember that before when you arrived here they attended to you immediately. Once they call you, be prepared to see bags of garbage in the hallways. Doors covered with sheets in the hallways. This is a shameful place. The only good thing was the Puerto Rican doctor, a very kind lady, and the nurse who treated us. It is unfortunate that lack of personnel is the order of the day.
I was released from the hospital today, and I wish to make a brief statement about this hospital and how I was treated while I was a patient there for a few days. Every single employee of this hospital treated me with the utmost respect. I took notice of how they were with others. In every instance I noticed the same type of situation; nothing other than professionalism. I would recommend this hospital to anyone. I also was involved with this hospital a few months ago. A friend was admitted with extreme heart issues! Treated wonderfully! issues.
If I could leave a zero star review I would. We have a loved one dieing and I tried to speak to the nurse on the phone to ensure immediate family could visit. After her saying that my loved one could still be alive tomorrow after being pulled off the ventilator and that immediate family can visit tomorrow if she is still alive she wasn't going to listen to my pleads to see her. She actually ended up hanging up on me not once but twice. This is an extremely insincere and heartless hospital I hope and pray no one has a dieing loved one here.
WORST place ever, Night Shift DIDNT do ANYTHING , all they did was take blood out and say she was perfectly fine, we asked for medicine or something better and they said NO, asked for a ct or mri and they said NO, because it’s NOT “life threatening”, from the beginning we walked like 75% from the people that attended us seemed in a bad mood and were rude to us and didn’t give us no explanation for anything except “check up with your primary care doctor” DO NOT GO HERE, THEY DONT CARE ESPECIALLY NIGHT SHIFT
My daughter went with chest pains and not wanting to be alone, she took her boyfriend back with her, they would not let us switch places. Also they do triage out in the open so everyone can hear your DOB and medical history. As I am setting heat typing this they had a “code stroke” in the parking lot brought the guy in said he has had 7 strokes since February and STILL INSISTED he must get checked in before he goes back to get treated. This is probably the worst medical care I have ever witnessed. Ever.
Couldn’t go in to see my better half (Who couldn’t breathe and was going into shock) because I had my TWO MONTH OLD with me. Yet when I walked in someone at the front desk had to put up their mask because they didn’t have it on. Can’t even be with your loved one because they are too busy not following the COVID guidelines. Should have gone to St. Francis which isn’t saying much. So if your loved one could possibly die and you’re under 18, tough luck because you can’t be with them or say goodbye!
Worst experience I have ever had. All the nurses are impatient. We sat in the emergency waiting room for 3 hours which I'm sure I could have gone to a normal doctor and gotten to see a doctor faster. Had not received any answers on my pregnant girlfriends condition that they keep saying they are trying to figure out. After 5 hours of them constantly telling her that we decided to leave. We will go to another office that respects their patients a little more as opposed to actively ignoring them.
I used to have nothing but positive things to say about community hospital but honestly after tonight I wouldn't bring my dog here . The er doctor on call tonight was completely disrespectful to my friend who was here with her sick newborn baby rude cut her off every time she tried to talk and when she subjested to the nurse the possibility of speaking to someone else because she didn't feel listened to we where discharged and told to go elsewhere . If you love your kids go somewhere else
My son came into the ER with a head injury and they took him straight back to get a cat scan. He had two skull fractures and a brain bleed. They checked it again and got him straight back for surgery. He only had a 10% chance of surviving. They did such a great job with him, he was released yesterday. Two days after!! I'll forever be grateful for everyone there that helped him from the ER to the nurses that helped him so much in the ICU with everything!!
Recently I had a work accident. My left middle finger was severed off from the top knuckle. I went to the Community South emergency room. The staff there was tremendous in taking care of my needs and keeping me out of pain. Especially Liz the RN and Ryan the physician assistant. Those two were totally committed to excellence and attending to my needs. Thank you! If you ever are in need of emergency medical care Community South Hospital is a great choice!
Went here due to vomiting nonstop. They took my blood, never told me my results, and had to ask them for my test results. Got told that one of my tests was normal and got the results in mychart just for it to say otherwise. Now I don't know if I can trust anything they said to me about my health there. On the bright side, the staff were super nice. If you go here, make sure to schedule a doctor's appointment afterward to make sure everything is okay.
This is the worst emergency I have ever been to I spent 3-4 hours in the emergency department in the corridor and was given an IV in the waiting room just to be given a huge emergency room bill of $3223 ,two Tylenol for $51 , IV $260 and laboratory $260 which they never came back with any results and even with insurance I was still paying $515 for a three hour visit to the ER all they care about is making money and not the wellbeing of their patients
I got blood on my head due to car accident, they did not clean me at all, I went to bathroom and clean myself cos my family visit and feel bad they see bloods. this hospital is a nightmare, all they know is to collect money, And they do not know how to collect either, cos bills come from different departments, which is so confusing. no love in this hospital,... I pray to God that I do not have to go to this place again.
My dad was admitted to hospital due to stroke. Marline on the second floor was one of his nurses and he was phenomenal. He went above and beyond when it comes to taking care of his patients. The most important qualities for a nurse are kindness, compassion, symphony etc. Marline embodies all of them. He is the perfect example of a great nurse. We are so thankful that he was one of the nurses taking care of my dad.
Best hospital to go too . I was admitted for three days after being seen in the ER yes there was a wait but what do you expect it goes by if you cut off ur arm or heart attack to non emergency in which you could have went to little clinic . That being said . The doctors listen an nurses are respectful . Best hospital go to with community and Indianapolis. Thank you to doctors and nurses for being there for us .
I went to the ER last night so my Dr and I could get some answers of why I'm not getting any better with my so called bronchitis. The ER didn't have any ears to my knowledge because he did care what I had to say he was in and out of the room. I understand that they was busy but he could have took time in what I had to say or even hear me out. I was not pleased with this hospital and will not go back
My sister just had a baby at community south and she got moved to the post Partum side and we walked her to the little nutrition room and they wanted to wait till they didn’t see us and said that we are rushed and that we wasn’t allowed in there and. I’ve had 3kids here and they have always allowed us in there. So they thought it was okay to talk about people behind their backs!
I gave you 1 star because my wife said the nurses were nice. But seriously, discharging a disabled patient after 11pm? Probably not wise. She was exhausted and almost fell before she got in the house. Were you hoping she'd come back? It's now 6am and we're trying to figure out how to turn on her new oxygen tank. Thanks for nothing. She's worse than before she was admitted.
I have a unique situation and I'm in the emergency room for the second time. It took a little bit for me to get to the back but when I did I was well took care of. A nurse named IVY was on top of things she made me feel very comfortable and I appreciate the doctors here. So thank youfor a great experience. Also thank you to the case workers that helped so much.
I delivered 3 children at this hospital. The first two experiences were great, but that was five years ago. I had a baby in November 21 and it was the worst experience of my life. I love my OB which is why I went there, but after what I went through this last time I will never return. This place has really taken a turn for the worst, and put money before care.
I have had 17 surgeries and Even though I can't do anything about I feel like my last 3 we're just covering up something there did wrong. I get little to know information. Also when I Go to the ER. I'm treated like I'm not hurting has bad as I say. I had a blood clot in my lungs and after 6 hrs of me telling them it's not a panic attack they finally did a CT.
I'm Allen Curtis gray jr little cousin of actor Don Cheadle. And husband of Mrs Andy Niemann. And nephew of Mrs marnie Robinson. I love community south hospital. They are like family too me and I love the staff so much everything I come thier they treat me like their favorite son thank you so much for all the love and support community south hospital
Always have a good time. Even when I am sick. The nursing staff is pretty good. The food is great, even the restricted diet. Mine is low sodium and heart healthy. I'm a bit nutty as a patient, they always put up with me. The doctors are nice but always busy. They do take the time to make you aware of what they are doing to help you. …
Been sitting in the ER FOR HOURS !! Night shift rude . I been bleeding for days with cramps for them not to care .
While most of the staff was polite in the Er room I came in with a broken ankle. The room I was in was filthy. I had fallen and had mud all over my lower leg and knee and they put a splint on and didn’t even bother to clean the mud off. A obvious no/no in the medical field. I would find another hospital if you have a choice
Went to the emergency room and couldn’t even get seen by a doctor, there was a man laying on the ground puking while no staff was even in the waiting room. When they finally noticed him they told him it would be 3 hours or longer before even he could be seen by a doctor. This place is a joke, and not a funny one.
I’d give the ER staffs negative ratings if i could. Ridiculously rude, unprofessional and did not care about how they do their job as long as they get it done. They look miserable working and hates what they’re doing, which reflects on how they do their work. DO NOT GO HERE IF YOU WANT TO BE TREATED LIKE A HUMAN!
What can I say except for the staff is disrespectful, they don't care about any of the patients. Especially the emergency patients. Should have listened to the reviews. This hospital is filthy, nurses are grotesquely irresponsible and only worry about socializing. Go elsewhere, matter of a fact... Run elsewhere.
I'm an RN and I will never allow my family to go to this hospital again. Me and my son's experience at the ER on night shift was unbelievable. Their night phone operator hung up on me and refused to transfer my call to the ER while on my way to the hospital. They are doing the absolute LEAST at Community South.
My son had an issue that need care. If I would have known how bad this place was I would have taken him any where else. We waited 4 hours before they took him back. He was doubled over in pain fir most of it. This worst place to come for treatment. I would advise to never come here for emergency.
Very disappointing. My cousin have headaches and we waiting for 9 HOURS to call us. I wish I call give -1. They are nice staff but all for them are very slow and uncare about their patients. DONT GO TO THIS HOSPITAL.. if it emergency or don’t want to wait at least 2-4 hours to be call.
The emergency department is horrible. They got me in quick today but when i got my results on my chart, the dr did not explain any of it to me. I had to go search for a nurse to explain it all. So horrible and unprofessional. My arm still hurts HOURS after they jammed that IV in it.
Had to take daughter to ER due to a bicycle accident. They put us in Express Care. We were in and out the fastest I've ever been. Big improvement from the last time but also this time they were not short staffed and it was one of their extremely slow periods according to a nurse.
I have been a patient here many times. Having many procedures done. The staff has always been first class. Just finished Cardiac Rehab. Had heart Cath in November 2019, two stints in heart. All staff has been AWESOME! Have been to ER several times. Great care.
some customer service are soo bad. The people sit on front desk need proper training of how to treat people equally not giving racism attitude. Talk to patient nicely no matter what race’s. Some people in front deck need to grow up their brains.
Spent Christmas Day 2021 here, had horrible pain that had me doubled over and vomiting. Needed up being a kidney stone. Staff was all excellent from the desk to the in-room nurses to the MRI tech. Couldn’t have had a better hospital experience.
This hospital needs some work. Most everyone that visits this hospital (including my husband) has bad experiences. My daughter's grandfather had surgery botched there. And now, her MIL had botched thyroid surgery.
In and out in an hour. Fast and caring team. Highly recommend. 2 yr old had hard time breathing so they put us in room immediately ran strep test and xray. Positive strep. Script and discharge.
They have shown great care for a loved one. They figured out what caused her pain. I had to wait in the parking lot as the restrictions are still in place.
Lucky for us we could go to an immediate care for my wife's minor injury because they had a 3 hour wait time. Lots of people waiting.
Don’t go here for an emergency. You will be left for 3 hours and not be seen by anyone. Worst excuse for a hospital. Zero care.
Left us in the hallway claiming they hav no rooms yet they bring more people back from the waiting room and gives them rooms.
Neglected patients and inability to diffuse situations. Nursing staff is a complete embarrassment.
