Ordered two kayaks online. One had to be shipped and the other I could pickup at a local store. Kayak #1: The one I picked up at the store had a terrible paint job done on it. You could see where someone placed their hand on the paint leaving finger prints, paint runs down the side of the kayak, and areas not continuously the correct color. It was a true mess but we had plans to go kayaking so I decided to keep it. I advice going to the store and pick one out if at all possible or they may try push a flawed product on you. Why this was even on display inside the store is beyond me. Kayak #2: The second kayak shipped to me looked ok but was severely scratched up and the delivery company (ABF Freight) Dick's used was a terrible experience. A woman called and left a voicemail while I was at work. I returned the call within hours and scheduled delivery the following week (the soonest they could deliver). She gave me a nine (9!?!) hour delivery window. I received a text message on the delivery day that the shipment was on the way. The delivery man showed up and the package was unloaded. I helped carry it up the driveway. I noticed the wrap and cardboard underneath was torn and the kayak scratched up bad but no holes. I needed this for a planned family trip the following weekend (it took 13 days to deliver the kayak) so figured I'd just deal with the repairs instead of rejecting the shipment and be a kayak short. That's the good part. A few days later I receive a letter from them stating they have a shipment in storage because they couldn't reach me and they'll be charging me $35/day in storage, with a $125 minimum. Really!?! Within the hours from them leaving a voice message and me calling them back they decided to charge me $125? They take 13 days to deliver a broken product on a day I have to take off work because they need a 9 hour window and they're charging me storage because it took me a few hours to call them back? Do not use this company if you want to keep your customers. EDIT/UPDATE: Someone from Dick's called and left a VM after I left that review. I figure they wanted to see examples of the damages so took a few photos while the kayak was still in my kitchen, never used. I have added them now. Not looking to return it or anything, just sharing my experience. I highly recommend purchasing things like this in the store. Having one shipped was a bad idea.
The entire place is a mess, from boxes being everywhere to the uncaring staff. I worked retail for many, many years, and I understand that there is a lot of post-holiday stocking going on, but there are several employees doing literally nothing productive (one who was asked to help us by another employee was just spinning around a volleyball and walking around looking bored). We asked an employee if he was experienced with rollerblades and he replied in the affirmative, but was able to tell us absolutely nothing about the 1 of 3 models that they carried in the store (or at least that they had available), even when specifically asked what made it worth buying versus the other models. He was clearly stumped and stumbling and just told us that if something went wrong, it has a 1 year warranty. Only one of the 3 employees we asked was really and truly helpful, but even she seemed like she couldn’t be bothered and called upon someone else to help. The first employee with whom we spoke had no idea where the rollerblades even were. That we even found these employees was amazing because I walked the entire top floor before even finding anyone, and as I sit writing this review, there are none in sight, just many teens and kids playing with unsafe equipment (not the fault of employees, but certainly a liability for the company and store). There is a reason that we like REI much, much better, but we decided to give Dick’s yet another chance despite the many times that we have been disappointed here since REI doesn’t sell rollerblades, but that was apparently a mistake. We won’t be back.
Sales personnel seemed like it was a burden to have to talk to me, and was aggravated with my questions about the product. Through our sales persons negative body language and "dead looks" on his face coupled with the fact that he didn't want to take the time to clarify my questions I initially walked out. However, it was equipment that I needed for medical reasons and came back. The sales person seemed happy at that point when I had to order the product. I'm assuming sales commission? The next problem not having to do with the sales person was Dick's Sporting Goods inventory and shipping. It seems that the store tends to have display models of products that it doesn't even keep in inventory. This is not a shocker as most major corporate stores do this now, again helping push consumers towards less expensive online retailers instead. The problem that finally put me over the edge to cause me to write this review was that I as I was filling out their in-store online order, I ordered standard shipping that clearly stated 3-6 business days (also on the receipt), but once the receipt printed out it gave an 8 to 15 day arrival. As it stands, the item will arrive 10 days after order. I will no longer go to this particular location for purchases anymore. I don't recommend that others go to this location either. I recommend that others should seek alternate Dick Sporting Goods locations. I will never purchase an item online though Dick Sporting Goods anymore. In today's market of shipping, there is no excuse for this.
High stress environment, not only for us, but we overheard multiple other customers bickering amongst themselves. Their clearance clothing racks displayed signs indicating different additional percentages off correlating to the color circle on the tag, with the exception of blue and purple, which were priced as marked. I browsed through four racks. All of them only had blue and purple circles on the items. I believe a sign stating priced as marked would have been more accurate and resulted in less customer frustration and dissatisfaction. My time is quite valuable to me. I don't appreciate it being carelessly wasted looking through racks of improperly marked items. Failure to display the price of items as they are rung up, in a manner that allows the customer to view is unacceptable in our current technology age. I will take steps to avoid shopping here again. If I can find an alternate sporting goods store, even if it's further, I'd rather drive to them for a more pleasant experience.
Store manager Chris Store manager Misty' (she refused to give me her name, but I seen misty on the receipt. Hopefully she didn't change it.) They were rude and racist. There's no reason to treat customers the way that the treated me. I had a very horrible experience at this store and will not be shopping here again. At 6:40pm on Nov 11. She accused me of credit card fraud because my rewards pro account name didn't match my debit card. I had a valid receipt and the debit card that I paid with. - she blatantly lied on me and treated my like a criminal. Refused to do the return and refused to give me her name. Chris rudely came over and refused to do the return. Both of them gave me very racist and unwelcoming attitudes. THIS IS VERY POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE. AND I WILL NOT BE SHOPPING HERE AGAIN.
Useless salesman in the shoe department. Never once offered to help and when I’d bring him shoes he’d just tell me they didn’t have that size. He didn’t even come to that side of the shoe department. Scanned the shoe with his phone without so much as a word. Finally I asked if he could just show me a pair of size 5.5 soccer shoes. Then he said they can’t find them that way and I just needed to keep looking for a style and then he could tell me if they had it. Heading to Fishers or Carmel.
This is a pathetic excuse for a business. We turned in a tennis racket to get restrung over a month ago and nothing has been done--it is still sitting in their store. We keep getting told that it will get restrung and shipped back to us, but still have no racket. Apparently this store hires some of the most incompetent people of Indy with no clue of what good customer service is. At this rate, summer will be over and not a single game of tennis played.
Way overpriced they stuff they carry I wouldn't even consider better either. They also need a larger variety of outdoor goods there's only one or two extra expensive brands to choose from some of which is no better than cheaper versions of the same product. The store needs more of a middle option in that department. Also run some better sales once and while not fake ones where the consumer loses more than they gain
Came here on a week day to pick out a new pair of running shoes. Took a little while for anyone to speak to me and when they brought me shoes, they just disappeared. This occurred with three staff members. And then along came Beck. He was knowledgeable, helpful, and patient. Seriously I tried on like 7 pairs of shoes, which is absurd for me. But he hung in there until I found the right ones.
Slow customer service, after waiting 10 minutes at a dressing room, with no sign of an associate to unlock the door, I put down the items I was interested in and left the store. For a Sunday afternoon in April you'd think the staff would be more attentive. They have a huge store and large selection, but don't hope to make it a fast trip if you might need to try something on.
The CSR in the golfing section guided me to the top-notch golf balls which I gave to my mother's friend, who couldn't stop gushing about getting the balls the pros use. It was probably the most appreciated Christmas gift I've ever had the pleasure of giving. I wish I could thank the CSR in person, but don't know his name, so thank you to the entire department!
Its a great sporting shop in the town . From a small ball to boat everything you will get in one store. Multiple floor building and spread across. Takes across hours to walk across and look at the items. Staff is helpful specially the shoes section they patiently help you to cholse best pairs and guide you throughly. I was expecting more jackets.
Customer service was excellent. My 8 yr old son starting softball for his first sport ever as well as my first our first time at this store. There was plenty of help. Jonathon helped us get him fitted for his glove helmet and new bat .He was very pleasant friendly and helpful me being a mom not dad I appreciated a lot we will be back
Security was following around the store I had a bag when I came in tried to give it to cashier they said I could keep my bag I had a tail on me the whole time and I look up after I paid for my items he was at the entrance I have a great career. No need to shoplift. Thanks security see why you work at DICKS
Decent selection of clothing and sporting accessories. Sale prices were decent, but non-sale items seemed to be compensating for sales. You can enter directly from the parking lot or through the connecting mall, but the mall closes before the store does, so if going late at night, plan accordingly.
One of my favorite places to go! I am in there at least 3 times a week. They always have the gear that I need from compression or outerwear. And there are good deals. Like spend 50 and get 10 off if you do the survey on the receipt. If you need anything sports related, I'd advise you come here!
I went on September 1st to check out running shoe. Que was the person in the section. He was rude and very unhelpful. Initially he declined that they do gait analysis. After pointing out the sign and treadmill that they definitely do it, he was still indifferent. Not a good experience.
Poor customer service, had to seek out and fond associates in every area we went. Also, associate Joseph in team sports had an ear pod in, listening to musoc walking past customers several times, and once i got his attention he couldnt hear me and i could hear his music. Annoying.
I made a phone call to the golf department to ask if they could order a club; you would have thought I'd asked the guy to give me one of his kidneys. Hey Dick's, even though they might show up on time, hiring a grumpy old man might not be the best customer service play.
Shoe shopping experience a 10+. Dakota helped me find a pair of shoes that worked for me. She brought out several pairs for me to try on based on what I was looking for. Dakota went above and beyond. I will definitely be going back for future shoe purchases here.
Overall, an ok experience; everyone was helpful; however, several associates were wearing their masks below their noses and the checkout lady had hers below her nose and mouth. The dressing room I used was dirty and I didn't see anyone sanitizing after I left.
Horrible customer service, I went in to get a pair of shoes and the whole entire time the man had an adtitiude. Literally threw the shoes in front of me and walked away. Whoever that person was should not be in customer service. I’ll never be back again.
Les was a great help in the Kayak section! He was very knowledgeable and went out of his way to help up learn how to load our kayaks on top of our truck. A genuinely nice guy and great staff member. And we are thrilled with our two new kayaks!
I thought this was a very customer service center Dick’s Sporting Goods. Every time I come here I’m greeted very nicely. I’ve had such great experiences here I think this place deserves five stars. Whoever is managing us is doing a great
Excellent service! Although they didn't have the hard to find item I was looking for, I received excellent attention trying to find it. I was greeted at the door by an employee and then again while in the aisles. They tried very hard to
Nice trip We loved it ! Got to use a discount and got some compression shirts and shorts for my boys, and a headband for me . I've decided to start using my elliptical bike again... hope I get to tell you I did next time ! …
The larger of the two stores I know of. The staff seam scarce but they have no problem with being approached or flagged done. If an item is not in the store there will navigate the website with you even see if anything store has one.
Great experience! Chris in the golf section was extremely helpful, insightful, and provide the information I needed to make an informed decision about purchasing golf clubs. The virtual course is always a great feature as well.
Asked one slow moving boring lady about a Super Bowl shirt - she said in her best uneducated country voice - WERE NOT IN KANSAS!!! Then told me to go to Walmart Customer service sucks!! Will never shop here either!!!
Comfortable setting except for the older gentleman that's a security guard there seemed to be there at every turn other than that they were fully stocked with a variety of items both levels and fairly clean
I was shopping for backpacks and about 50% of the products weren't labeled with a price tag anywhere. I had to ask for the price of several backpacks which made the entire process pretty annoying.
Waited in the bike department for over 20 minutes without seeing an employee. When I found one he had no clues about bikes. His suggestion was to come back when someone else would be there.
Wish their "rewards" lasted more than XX days. Not much of a reward if you have to use it quickly. Their products and prices are such that I find myself visiting every 6 months or so.
This Dick's has great customer service. The employees are polite, helpful and know their products. I drive past the Dick's by my house to come here because this one is so much better.
Great place to shop,it's nice and quiet place to shop and the employees are watching over you and asking you every 10 minutes if they can help you,I'm satisfied will be going back
I was unimpressed with how little variety of things that they have, they have a lot of things but very little variety; other than that, I liked it, everything seemed high quality.
Very large compared to the dicks near my home. Large selection and helpful staff. Prices were much more expensive than I expected, although I found some great items on clearance.
Very friendly, unfortunately the cashier I had, Amya (sp)had her face mask below her nose the whole time.. looked like all the other employees I witnessed was wearing correctly.
Great service! The lady in the shoe department was great! Made sure I had a comfortable shoe brought out 6 different pairs, and let me try everyone until I had the one for me.
Customer service is terrible--long 35 minute very poor management-- if not for grandson birthday gift I would not ever shop here again. To much $ to have wait phooey
This is a two story Dick's with lots of products to choose from. Store is in pretty good shape and is well organized. Staff is pretty friendly. No complaints
Good score but they're just not the same anymore I used to always shop here for my boys baseball stuff but the new staff is not as friendly as the old staff.
Met a wonderful older gentleman named Bill that taught me how to swing a golf club. Bought a set of clubs and getting hooked on the game thanks to him!
Love this store!!! Absolutely love the clothes, shoes, bags and well..... Just about everything they have!!! I just wish it was a little cheaper lol.
Best in sporting goods. Service is friendly and Ellen was a breath of fresh air. She was knowledgeable and passionate about her products. Nice to see
Besides poor service in the shoe section, they did not see their broken escalator as a disability access problem. Would go without than go back.
Any business that opens in ten minutes, and asks us to wait out front with our two children, deserves one star. Enough said about this location.
Great...as safe as you can get...in store shopping experience. Lots of stock and very helpful staff. Always to go to the candy store of sports.
Wide selection of sporting goods of every kind with fair prices and good customer service. Sign up for their loyalty to get additional perks.
Love going here, but don't very often. Rather high priced, but a good selection and good quality product. Lots of food brands to choose from.
Item listed as available in store was not in stock. Apparel pretty pricey, only shop here as a last resort. At least the staff was pleasant.
I hate when I get in a bind and have to get shoes there. So slow, no one has any urgency to help and it just agonizing. Just poor service.
I wanted to buy shoes for my grandson for school. Only 1 clerk was available. He told me to wait and I did for 10 minutes. Then I left.
Masks we're mostly worn correctly by employees. The kid in shoes wasn't very pleasant but I got my shoes and that's why I went there.
There's lots of merchandise on sale. They have ( BSU ) Ball State University sweatshirts that are difficult to find in Indianapolis.
This week I have been there twice and the person who in hunting sport, attended me very kindly and rapides thank you very much,
Too much! Overpriced items!! Not affordable at all! Walmart, Target, and Meijer have many of the same items for much much less!
Great store with good selection. People available if you have questions. Shop without someone pestering you. Decent pricing.
I go here to get all of my exercise clothes, cold gear, camping gear, and boots. The staff is outstanding and very helpful.
The closer working 2/21/2023 went above and beyond when she did not have to at all. Very helpful and with a good attitude
A good store, but I feel like it used to be much better. Decreasing variety of products and hit or miss customer service.
What a great place to get all the sporting goods you need!!! You can never go wrong shopping there!!! …
Went to 3 different stores and they just don't have enough shoes on display nor in stock. I hope this changes soon.
A very large selection of aerobic and athletic gear. Thanks to Harold for helping me find what i was looking for.
This store needs a great deal of maintenance and cleaning. The appear to be operating as if they will be closing.
I mean it's a sporting goods store. The service was slightly above par, good variety of products, and long lines.
The staff was very helpful and the shoes and outfits they have out are the best I've seen at a footwear store!
Workers rude and kicked us out for punching the punching bags on display there was no "do not touch sign" >_<
Joseph in shoes was very helpful explaining the various shoes and helping me pick a pair which worked for me
Great place to cut through to get into the mall, But not going to spend $40 on a 4T shirt for a 2 year old
Very nice & friendly staff! I arrived very late due to snow & they were completely ok with that and nice!
The store is huge but there kayak selection is non existent. Decent disc golf choices all beginner stuff
Very helpful golf salesperson. Set up several clubs for me to try and kept comparisons on the simulator.
Staff were knowledgeable and friendly. Store has just about anything you need for sports or outdoors.
I was trying to put something on hold and they said I’m sorry we don’t have it and they hung up on me
Well organized and segmented for easy visuals to find the section/sport desired. Friendly service.
I couldn't find a thing that I wanted. I wanted a couple of items and did not like the options.
Ran in to purchase a few things for my grandson for his Wrestling tournament, easy in and out.
Good variety of all sporting goods for all ages, decent selection of budget and high end items
Customer Service is Everything to me and we didn't have to search for any!! My kinda store!!
This is the only Dick’s location we’ll shop at. Keep up the great work OJ, it’s appreciated
Nice people, good selection, awesome sales. Only 4 stars because NO social distancing!!!!!
The guy that helped me in the Castleton Square store, Treq, was so nice and super helpful!
Great deals for online and in store. Free shipping to store and if you spend 25 or more.
Well A woman named Alexis made the day, a company asset for sure, thank you .... …
Racists employees. I was getting followed throughout the entire store. DO NOT SHOP HERE
Good service went 9am. Got best help out this crew then got in stores in long while.
Their company policies are motivated by politics. I use to shop there all the time.
Very helpful, I never went into a different part of the store without being greeted
Needed wrestling shoes they didn't have any... but over all they have great stuff
Always find what I need here. Good salsas and a pretty nice rewards program too!
Beyond when she did not have to at all. Very helpful and with a good attitude
Waited for 20 minutes then I had to go inside to actually get what I ordered.
I love ordering online. I get my items quickly and the workers are so nice.
All your sporting needs, except this particular store is low on supplies.
Very friendly staff, all smiles. Hunter was very helpful. Thanks again.
Service is always good here, I just feel like everything is overpriced.
Staff went above and beyond to make shopping here a great experience!
Lots of Colts clothing items. Jerseys, caps, heavy windbreakers, etc.
The store seems to be dwindling on what they actually have in stock.
