PLEASE BE AWARE THIS COMPANY IS PROBABLY THE WROST MOVING COMPAGNY IN OTTAWA. I will not recommend this company. I used that company for my last moving in November 2020. It was a nightmare… I have decided to go with this company because of the comment I read here, their website looked professional and Tony seemed to know what he was doing. He is my nightmare : When the movers arrived they had no information about my moving, there weren’t organized, complained a lot, they were augmenting about everything, they stretched the time to get paid 8 hours, they didn’t have experience moving elliptical (but Tony said so when I booked my moving with him). They did not have the tool and equipment for the moving: drill not charged, not enough blankets to wrap my furniture, no straps to lift heavy furniture, etc.. They were unprofessional : leaving furniture not assembled or wrapped in plastic, and the job not finished, they left a piece of my bed at my previous house even after I told them 2 times to put it in the truck. They damaged the front door and some of my furnitures wrapped in plastic instead of banquet have been damage (see few pictures). The manager/owner, Tony refuse to take his responsibilities. Tony was very friendly until I called him with concerns. He got upset, told me I has a bad customer since the beginning, he was condescending, arrogant and had no respect for my as a client. They took 27 hours (3-4 staffs) to move a 3 bedrooms house with no appliance and no box for a distance of 10 km in Orleans, that’s a lot of time, total cost $2000. FYI the movers did wear mask; I thought this was mandatory because of Covid.

Ah - where should I begin? I should start by saying that I'd been dealing with an illness before the move, and on the day of, I was WAY less organized than I should have been and panicking. Tony arrived on time (a bit early actually), took a look around and suggested that we could do it if one of his assistants helped me finish packing. I was hugely relieved and said: "Let's go for it." Tony was a cool cucumber the entire time, organizing and directing his two swarthy assistants as the boxes/furniture made their way out and into the elevator. Oh - I should also point out that Tony and his two employees were SUPER STRONG. If a car ever falls on top of me, I hope they're somewhere nearby to pull it off me. At a certain point, I ran out of boxes. I was hoping that Tony had brought some extras and thankfully, he had. He seemed to be prepared for every emergency. At this point, I hadn't slept for 30 hours, so his professional demeanor was hugely appreciated. At the end of it all, I knew that he had put in quite a considerable amount of extra time and effort. The final price was MORE than fair. I was pretty gobsmacked to be honest. I've had a ton of experience with moving companies, and I've hired some terrible businesses that gave me inaccurate quotes, were late, were impossible to communicate with on the day of, etc. so I was dreading the move before Tony arrived. I wish I had known then what I know now - I wouldn't have worried at all. Tony is hands down the best and most professional mover I've ever booked, and I feel like he really went above and beyond. Perfect experience in every way. Hire this guy immediately!

Booked my move 4 weeks out. One week prior to our move, our closing date got unexpectedly delayed. I emailed Tony immediately. The response back was one line that I would lose my deposit. I responded back that I was not cancelling but rescheduling. Next response was ‘this is not our fault and if I would have given 4 weeks notice’ I could keep my deposit. Hard to give that notice when I had booked it 4 weeks ago and this change was unforeseen. So unprofessional. If he would have explained that unfortunately company policy is to lose deposit when move date is changed X amount of days prior. I would have sucked it up and rescheduled. I did not sign any contract or was told deposit is kept if date changes. Can’t comment on his moving abilities but unprofessional poor business practices. Edit: Tony you never explained the deposit was non refundable. You did not even try to work things out when I called you. You sounded happy to keep my deposit. October is not a busy moving month, I doubt you had to turn down work due to my need to reschedule. You continue on that it was ‘not your fault.’ You are correct but life happens and things change. A professional organization would work with their client or at least state the deposit was non refundable when collected, not only after a negative review. After reading your responses to negative reviews, you never take responsibility. Not saying you are always at fault but take some accountability but that wound entail some personal growth on your part.

Generally a pretty smooth move, with guys that were polite enough, a few scratches/breaks (nothing compared to what I've seen before) + empty pop bottles/cans left behind on each floor for me to pick up. But that's small stuff. What annoyed me was: 1) Received a call near the time Tony & crew were supposed to be at my house - told they would be 1.5 hr late (which meant, finishing late, which was an issue for me having to get my child and pet back on the other side). No apology. In the end, they showed up 30min late only. But, again, not even a little 'sorry' for the changes. 2) Bill came third higher than quoted despite me having described quite precisely what I had, having moved a lot of the small items myself and clearly labelled boxes with room name/#. De-assembling/loading took 4 hrs.. Offloading/reassembling took 3.5 hours. No explanation given when I raised the difference in price. P.S. Re. owner answer below - not accurate. No advice given ahead of time. No call at 7:30am (more like 9:30). Last minute packing was 'just in time'. Finally, I moved a lot of my own boxes.

Reply to feedback: Get yourself a better job, you are your people are doing a pathetic job and one can write such a review only after suffering through your ridiculous experience. Irrespective of how many times you say it’s a fake review wont change anything. Sensible people who care for their money will put in their hard earned money for better moving experience and stay away. I’ve never written a review for anything but these guys definitely deserve praise. They really were the best. We did a long distance move (600+ km) and it went flawlessly. Best quote you’ll get for your move with zero compromises (done in less than a full 24 hours). My partner and I sifted through almost 2 dozen other quotes at more than double their cost. The quote given was also just shy of exactly what we paid. No “storing items in a facility for 5 days wait” or “lost items”. No tacked on fees to be paid before they give you your items. They let you pay exactly how you want and when you want (up to pretty much the end of unloading). Start to finish these guys really were amazing and laid back while also being efficient and professional. If you’re like me and are worried about which company you can trust to give you a reliable and reasonable quote while also making the whole inherently stressful ordeal straight forward, these guys are your solution. My wife and I recently moved from Ottawa to Kitchener with them yesterday, and we are profoundly satisfied. I will mention the reasons for our satisfaction briefly: 1- After some of the unreasonable prices from the companies which they just wanted to take advantage of the COVID-19 crisis, Tony gave us a very reasonable and FLAT rate; 2- They gave us a very cheap and fair offer for boxes too; 3- They all were very professional, on time, fast and reliable for a considerable amount of things we have had and do their professional job without complaining. ***In sum: If you for any reason, you need to leave Ottawa and go to a better place (which is a great thing to do), or you need to move inside the Ottawa area, you can rely on them 100% for both short-distance and long-distance moving. They would be your significant part of moving, and I highly recommend them with confidence!

Great moving experience thanks to Tony, Fred and Abdul. Initially, they quoted me half what other movers charged and they were great. They were running late with a prior job, but called me ahead of time to give me a heads up which was just fine. It wasn’t a major delay or anything. Plus, Tony said he would have 3 guys with him so it ended up going super smoothly anyways. The guys were fast, efficient and polite. I would definitely recommend to anyone I know moving to book with Tony. They also take most payment methods and work super independently. I had to head back to my old place and so Tony took the payment and they left it perfect and with all my stuff inside for me when I got back. Tony even saw I had loaded my car full of stuff as well and told me to put it there for them and they’d take it up for me. Which was super nice! Thanks guys!

Do Not hire these movers! I was very, very disappointed with their service. I hired these movers to help my daughter and her husband pack a truck for their move to Cornwall. Not only did DMS (the moving company) charge more than what was originally agreed upon, the packing service they provided was extremely poor - they left boxes in the snow before being packed in the truck, so the bottoms got wet; they used wet furniture pads, so some furniture got wet; a printed picture that had great sentimental value was left with a hole in it. If all that wasn't bad enough, they took absolutely no responsibility for the damage. Instead they put all the blame on my daughter and they husband. Beware of these people! You would be much better off to pack up yourself. At least you would take the proper care that your belongings deserve.

Discount Moving and Storage Ottawa completed my move yesterday and I was very impressed with their efficiency and the care they took to protect our furniture as well as the walls and floors of the home during both the move out and in phases. For example, our furniture and upholstery items were blanket wrapped and taped, bed mattresses and box springs were covered. The movers were really friendly, very hardworking, professional and worked well as a team. Of note, I booked this move very last minute, and while it took about a day to hear back from Discount initially, and there was a minor hiccup on verification of the deposit transfer, all worked out exceptionally well in the end -- so if you too experience these things I recommend persisting :) I will definitely call on Discount again for our future moves. A+ overall!

Discount moving and storage (DMS) was very responsive and punctual. Moves are fraught with unforeseen circumstances. Ours was definitively like that (snow storm, truck engine repair the morning of, destination building not quite finished, furniture that did not fit in elevators and that was very heavy, and not able to reserve the elevator for the move). The DMS team adapted and managed to do it all with minimal problems. They asked to pick up the furniture the day before, for no additional fee, were polite with us, respectful and flexible. Best of all, DMS respected their quote, even with all of these problems. Tony was in constant communication with us, and even the engine repair did not turn into any kind of problem. We highly recommend them and would use them again without a doubt.

I must say, I was blown away by their services!!! They were able to take on our move last minute and I mean, I called the day before (3pm) and they set everything up for the next day. Thank you so much to Tony and his crew!!! Reliable, on time, fast, trustworthy and handled our medical equipment with care. We even had issues with the new Dymon storage facility and they were still so patient and understanding throughout the whole process. After the nightmare of hauling our own things the last time we moved, my boyfriend and I decided we would fork up the money and hire movers. Best Decision Ever! Tony and his moving partner went above and beyond every step of the way: - We called just two days before our move and they squeezed us in - Tony was incredibly kind and answered all of our questions right away, - They came EARLY! - They did everything in 3 hours flat (from packing the truck, to unpacking and help set up some of our things), - They were friendly, accommodating and made sure we were happy every step of the way. Moving with Tony and his team was, honestly, a pleasure. We will definitely be suggesting them to all our friends.

It's been almost a full year since using this company when I moved from a tiny apartment with hardly any elevator space to a house. They were absolutely fantastic. I asked for a quote, they gave me a full quote, and at the end of the day they charged me the exact quote they gave me. There was no hidden fees or up charges at all. They moved my incredibly heavy items and with no hesitation or complaining at all, they covered everything and protected it all from dirt, scratches or dings. They even moved my large 6 foot rat/chinchilla cages. They did this on an extremely cold icy day with no problems. Recommended them to everyone I know, and will definitely be using them again soon. After moving a few times in recent years, we decided to contract DISCOUNT MOVING for the first time to move our household last weekend. From the initial contact with Tony, the experience has been nothing but FIRST CLASS. Last night Tony and Ryan delivered a very large and heavy sanding machine to my new shop all the way out in Lac des Loups. They picked it up the afternoon before from where I had purchased it in Ottawa, hung on to it overnight, and then brought it right into place in the new shop. They were so quick, professional and courteous. It really relieved a huge amount of stress for me as there was just no way I was going to be able to move the machine myself. The price was more than fair considering the weight and the distance they traveled. I would definitely recommend them to anyone, and will never hesitate to use them again in the future.

I called to get an over-sized dresser drawer moved from the 1st floor of my home to the second story over a narrow staircase. Tony responsed to my call immediately and he was able to come the same day. Tony and two other colleagues came at the appointed time and they were able to do the move in 10 minutes, quickly, efficiently and professionally. They were very polite and respectful. I was very impressed with their excellent service, their ability to problem-solve since this was not an easy move, and the timeliness of their response. I hired them for a move from 2 rooms in a house to a one bedroom apartment. Have them 250 for deposit. When the movers arrived they didn't like the state of the house that owns 3 cats. Insulted the house owners and caused 300 in damages to my friends e-bike. When my friend confronted the owner about the damage the owner of the company threatened violence towards my friend. On top of everything he refused to give me my deposit back as they never moved anything. Do not use these people. Especially if you are disabled. They seem to only want able bodied clients with no pets so they don't actually have to do much work

Every aspect of this was good. I dealt with the company solely through email because of my work environment, and was able to schedule and confirm through Tony a week ahead of time. The movers confirmed with me via text the morning of and kept in touch with me regarding arrival time. They were efficient and moved everything carefully. When they arrived at my move-in location, they helped us relocate some existing items and move them out into the garage as well. They charged us exactly as indicated and even deducted some time off for time they spent working on the ramp of the truck. Highly recommend.!!

My friend has stuff stored at my house, when these movers showed up to get her stuff they asked if we could move the ebike in our driveway, told them I could just need to grab the key. By the time I got back outside they had moved the bike on their own, which in turn caused part of the bike to break as the steering is locked. When asked what would be done about it they drove away and said nothing, upon talking to the owner he said he would not pay to fix it. Top it off the movers didnt even move anything because my home with 3 cats smelled to much for them. Would not recommend this company to anyone.

Great response time and amazing to work with. it was a very stressful day for me and all three of the guys were super helpful and responsive to every request. And it was a very long day and they never slowed down or slacked off. As a sidenote every other time we have moved, at least one or move or of the movers were smokers and although they would step away for their smoke breaks it was still annoying. None of the three guys who showed up the day of our move smoked or if they did it was never evident. I don’t know if this is a company policy or just the way it worked out but it was very appreciated.

I chose Discount Moving because of the dismantling and reassembling of furniture, which was important to me being a single 76 year old woman. Tony was very accomodating when I booked my move with him. Move day was a bit difficult not because of the movers but the weather which was terribly hot and humid. My stacked townhouse made it that the movers and two full flight of stairs to carry furniture and boxes. They were wonderful and took great care of my furniture. I highly recommend Discount Moving and Storage. Thank you Tony, and the four young men who moved me.

This is the second time using their service. Very efficient and extremely respectful. So impressed with the service that was offered as they paid attention to every detail and made sure not to damage any surface, door or movable object. The movers went out of their way to ensure we were content with all aspects of the move. Moreover, they were extremely helpful in ensuring that everything was where it was supposed to be and in its place. Was also very impressed with the way things were wrapped to ensure nothing came apart or was misplaced.

Tony and his crew were the best right from the start. Tony answered my emailed questions in a reasonable amount of time and showed up on time for a walk through estimate because we had a bit more than the average couple. Fairly priced. He and his team were professional, pleasant, hardworking and mannerly. On time and on par with estimate. Not one item damaged or dinged. Using DMS was a great experience! Both movers Travis and Bolo were not only ontime but 10 min early! They worked well together and got eveything moved From and To locations within the timeframe of 3 hrs and were good humoured as well. They were able to get through any and all obstacles that came up and figure things out on the fly. No damage to any of my furniture or box contents. I was in need to move immediately today due to my uncomfortable situation at home, and I was so impressed with the service. I wish I could remember their names! They came around 3:30pm today in Kanata. And they helped me so much! They not only helped me move but were very understanding of my situation, and very careful with my fragile items. I was really really impressed by bron and his crew! They were efficient and didn't ding or scratch a single item. They even helped me figure out where to put items and put my bed frames together for me! They really went above and beyond and to top it all off they were super friendly! Why 1 star? - They wanted me to pay for one extra hour when their truck won't start. After unpleasant argument they brought it down to half an hour. Why should I pay them while they are fixing their truck? - They lost some furniture parts and couldn't assemble the bed, initially he suggested I pay $500 insurance deductible to file a claim, then promised to find the missing parts but after waiting for days I had to order and pay for the parts myself - Took 5 hours to finish, more than needed in my opinion.

We’ve used Tony and his crew for two separate house moves, most recently in September 2023. Both moves were completed very efficiently. Tony offers solid direction and makes sure the crew takes proper care of both the items they are moving and the spaces they work in. The work was done quickly with strong communication throughout the move, which ensured that everything was placed in the right spots, which made unpacking much easier! The value is excellent, given the speed at which they work.

Oh boy, I have used movers a few times, and this company takes the cake. They arrived on time, unloaded my 5x10 storage locker in minutes, and then proceeded to perfectly unload, disassemble, and reassemble my furniture from a packed 1bdrm walkup to a new place. The whole task was daunting to me, but this crew came in and handled like absolute rockstars..no questions asked! Great value, fun personalities, overall excellent experience. I am a repeat customer 100%. Highly recommended.

Discount Moving is amazing! I hired them to help move my 67 year old mom from Barrhaven to Rockland. I had to book them last minute as my last mover had canceled. Tony was very accommodating and reassuring over the phone. On the day of, 3 movers arrived right on time! Gavasta, Kyle and Abdallah were very professional and did great, fast work! Tony and his crew arrived (early!) the day of our move and even called first to see if that was OK. They worked quickly and efficiently to wrap and protect all furniture and were able to move it all down the stairs in a very tight stairwell. They were courteous, prompt and charged exactly what was discussed. It was an extremely cold December day, but that didn't seem to bother them one bit. I would not hesitate to recommend them or use them again. Thank you!

If you’re looking for cost effective, trustworthy and efficient movers that don’t give you the run around with extra hidden fees, these are your guys. Tony and his crew were awesome and able to help us problem solve on the go when a couple items didn’t fit up the stairs. And oh yeah, Jimmy is a beast with more stamina than the Energizer bunny. He likes mushrooms and ham on his pizza if you’re buying lunch- very specific ; ) Great job and will use again.

I would highly recommend Tony and his team at DMS. They loaded up all our stuff in the East end of Ottawa, and unloaded in Almonte (through rush hour traffic) in 4 hours flat. His team is quick, careful and friendly. He takes the time to protect all of your fragile items - everything arrived as it was packed! The price quoted was the lowest - and DMS came recommended. I was not disappointed.

I called Discount Moving Ottawa on a Friday morning for a last minute move that needed to be done that day. Tony called me back shortly after filling out the request online. We had an excellent experience with Tony and his guys. They completed the move (including moving out, transporting, and moving the stuff into the new place, and assembling furniture that was taken apart) from a 2 br apartment to a 3 br townhome very close to the estimated time. I had to arrange a last minute move for my place of work. I found out I needed to do this at 5 at night. I called Discount Moving and Storage and he was able to have be booked in to do the move within a couple of days. They went where I needed them to, uncrated the equipment, and put it where it needed to be. It was super simple and easy and the service was amazing. 5 stars all around!

Tony and the DMS crew came to our aid at the last minute, when another moving company decided it didn’t want the business. We were in a real bind but they showed up on time and got the job done. I had the most amazing experience with this moving company. They were on time, did amazing work, and overall fantastic. There was also a minor mishap with the landlord of the building and the movers were so kind and fought to make sure we got the right help. They moved everything in due time and handled everything with care. Best moving company I have dealt with so far!

Tony and his men are the best moving team I have experienced. I have been their customer 4 times now and used to work for a moving company.... I rate them 100 percent! They are all true gentlemen, trustworthy, fairly priced, careful with your property, while at the same time working steadily, efficiently and quickly. I’ve used discount moving and storage twice now for two home moves. They’re great to work with, answer my many many questions promptly and happily. Move only took 3 hours total. Moved from a one bedroom apartment to a 3 level house. This includes removing and re-installing the patio door to accommodate an oversize couch. Although I paid for 2 men and 3 hours of service, the owner brought an extra guy. Great service and pleasant staff. Great job!
