"This is a nice location"
"Clareview Library is actually a really great place"
"I love this place from the inside"
"It’s got books (no way) magazines, music, movies and much more"
"Definitely not the most quiet place if you need to focus or study"
This is a nice location. I appreciate the ceiling decorations, and the large windows. It's great to relax and read, or play some cards over by the fireplace in winter. My only gripe about this location is the lack of good programs for my children. The Whitemud Crossing branch always had amazing Evil Genius Club (EGC) activities. And they had them on Thursdays, which makes the most sense, because school is out early that day. At the Clareview location, the EGC activities often get cancelled without any notice. Also, they have them on Friday...which almost never works for my family. Furthermore, the EGC activities are quite often just doing stuff on screens (e.g., playing XBox, using tablets). I know some of the screen activities are cool, but it's way more engaging when you get kids to work together on tangible projects. Maybe the Clareview crew just needs to contact the Whitemud Crossing crew and get better ideas from them.
Clareview Library is actually a really great place. Its designed well. Staff are super friendly. Lots of natural light with large windows, and high cielings, I have ordered in some books from there with no issues. Their selection seems very good as well and should keep you busy for the better part of the day. Downsides are: - People on this side of town unfortunately, for the most part, tend to think of this place as a free day care. - Children/teens run rampant and leave computer stations dirty with crumbs or just hog them all day. - It is probably the noisest library I have been to in the city - General culture of cleanliness with the patrons could improve. I understand this is not the librarys staffs fault however the city should step up this game of teaching different cultures how to live cleanly and responsibly if we are to be under this push of diversity and bringing in various cultures.
I love this place from the inside. It’s such a huge place to spend a lot of time in a healthy way. It’s amazing with their pools and places to play. Also have a playground for children was a great idea. You can spend hours and hours in this place. They’re library has a lot of spots where you can sit and friendly and helpful staff. The only concern was the security. One day I was leaving from the library side, I unfortunately saw people stealing 2 bikes in front of a few people. That was incredible to see, I couldn’t believe it and I was feeling so bad for the owners of those bikes.... there should be more security outside and inside the place.
It’s got books (no way) magazines, music, movies and much more. The ambiance is great and the staff is friendly and helpful. It’s got a lot of fun things for children. The whole space is just right. This is branch is clean well lit. It has access to all the resources of Edmonton Public Library. This location is attached to the Clareview Recreation Centre so a one stop shop for the mind and body is great. There is a seating area with a fireplace. There is an area for children with small tables and chairs. Also there are lots of computers with free internet access as long as you have a EPL membership.
Definitely not the most quiet place if you need to focus or study. It isn't that the library isn't diligent in reminding people to be quiet, but this is a hot spot for kids! They really have a way with kids and cultivate their love for the library. My childhood memories of visiting the library is what keeps me coming back myself. I don't have children myself, but I love that the library encourages kids wanting to spend their evenings and weekends exploring books, playing games, and other wholesome activities rather than hanging out on the streets causing trouble. For this reason: 10/10
As far as libraries go, it's alright. It has books and amenities which is great. However, it is NOT a great place to study (esp on a Sat afternoon). My biggest complaint is the seating. They have 2 study rooms but not very much seating in them (and currently only 1 person allowed per room). They also have these terrible bar stool counters which are impossible to do anything at because they are both too high and too far away from the chairs. In summary, this library is only good for studying if it's not too busy, otherwise, go somewhere else.
I started coming here during covid since I was doing online classes at nait. I find its a good spot if you can handle parents not controlling their kids and people talking on the phone. I know we're in a pandemic but I didn't know that changed the rule of keeping the volume down at a library. It is nice that they are alright with people studying all day if we keep our masks on. But I think they should really start kicking people out if they are just taking up a table to be on their phones or watch YouTube on a computer.
I love this library! It has a great book selection and a good study room and workspace. It’s easy to keep kids busy because there are lots of books that appeal to their tastes and other hands-on activities/programs that they can engage in. The environment is spaced out and large, with very good resources. It is usually quiet, which makes the library ideal for studying, reading, and focusing on your thoughts. Lots enjoy this library because there is something unique for all people of all ages! I love this branch!
Kids were playing tag, screaming and acting like it was recess in there. Staff lied to me instead of admitting they didn't know the answer. Told me that I had to pay for printing and faxing when it didn't even work and then when I forced them to ask someone else for alternative solutions, all the computers were taken by kids playing games and watching YouTube. Forget about doing work here or finding knowledgeable staff. Happens too often kids section should have been seperated, fail in design
Amazing place and one of the best library I saw, wide clean and beautiful... the view is wonderful... after you finish your reading and your studing you can go to the gym and swim pool and have some sport
Quite a beautiful library with good designs and friendly staff. However if you plan to study real hard in quiet and peace, you might have to use the study rooms by the side. This is because lots of kids playing innocently in the kid area but most times making loud noises. They also let them play computer games and this could result in some chatter among themselves thereby disturbing actual book readers. All in all its a serene environment.
Very good library and kind and quiet library for all ages but younger children tend to always be on the computer and when they have to go home they make a bit of a fuss but usually I never wait for computers. There like you can spend hours there just reading and reading all the good books and also the club are so fun . I spend my summers in the library. I'm a really big book worm .
The place is beautiful. Unfortunately it's all open so the noise from the kids area echoes throughout the whole place making it quite noisy. Would reccomend if you aren't here to study. Yes there is a decent amount of study room inside the quite rooms but there definitely isn't enough. Would not reccomend if you're looking for a quiet place to study or read a book.
I just have to give the people at this branch a huge thank you. I got there like the minute they closed on a Friday and they still gathered 20 books I had on hold AND brought them out to me. That’s some 5 star customer service. Not something I’ll do to them again but they treat me and every customer like a VIP, well done …
This place is the most noisiest place to be in. I don't think this is considerated to be a library, instead it's a day care. It's very disappointing to have a library where you cant study. If your planning to study for an exam, you are just better off to go to NAIT or UofA and pay for a parking...
A library with two fantastic views. Although packed with kids playing mine craft who are louder then ever. I remember when it was common curtesy to be quiet in a library. Also the computer system in the epl's are garbage. Take a page from st. alberts book and trash the system you have.
I got the billing charges for two books overdue, but I already returned them the day before! Came in to the branch to ask, they said page tags on those books are torn. When I ask to see the books, they refused. Very rude staff. That's how their books came, and I won't pay for it.
Very beautiful library but not a good place to go for a quiet place to study. It is a library, staff and parents should try to keep the noise down by the kids. There are study rooms but two very small ones with limited space. More study rooms or less noise from the kids.
I like this library because there is lots of seating and there's a place where you can fill a refillable water bottle free with filtered water and the staff is friendly and helpful my only concern is that the disabled washroom is currently out of order
I've been to every library in Edmonton and they're all Great! Nicely located for their community. What continues to amaze me is how knowledgeable the staff are and their abundance of patience, this is true at every library ++ keep up your good works!
Everything I have seen is well organized and welcoming staff.Just missing one thing that Punjabi Language books are not enough on the shelves.only 3-4 books (which are even not popular) which i think are not enough..thanks for helping staff anyways..
Love this location. Having it right with other amenities (like the playground) is nice and the staff is friendly. They have been doing scavenger hunts for the kids which was really fun for my 5 year old. Lego time is fun!
Their online system is great and the automated return and electronic checkout is superb. I order a lot of books on from other libraries, get an email when they show up, and pick them up at the library no problem at all.
For my first time in the downtown library my thoughts are that it's a very unique diverse place. Though there are a lot of homeless people that hang out there, that is the reason I didn't give a 5-star rating.
Their hold system is not great. They sent a book somewhere else and took forever to find my holds. Overall very disorganized and had me wait a long time in the cold to find a book they sent somewhere else.
I love libraries and this one does not disappointed. It's very roomy and bright with the huge windows covering most of the library. I've never had to wait for a computer and the staff are nice.
Worst library experience I've ever had. Kids running around screaming with no supervision, adults talking on their cell phones, drug paraphernalia in the bathroom. Keep it classy Edmonton.
Отличное место чтобы поработать на компе! Библиотека со всем необходимым: сеть, free wi-fi, рабочие столики, книги, журналы, диски. Рядом огромный спортивный центр с бассейном
Great engineering on the building but the library can get busy and over crowded with children. So if you need a computer you might wanna call ahead to see how busy it is.
The library is pretty clean and organized. Staffs are very friendly. Only drawback is the smell of the air affected by the swimming pool beside the library.
A beautiful new space that personifies what libraries in a digital age need to be. Ample computers, self check out counters and digital media to check out.
The environment of library was amazing. All people who came are disciplined . The staff was also very cooperative ans decent. I have good experience here.
Awesome staff, decent selection and lots of open reading/learning area. I dislike parking but that has more to do with traffic flow and the rec center
Love studying here and taking my daughter. Only wish it was open later to 10/11/12. Lots of students still here close to closing who'd appreciate it.
It’s a nice library. There’s a small aquarium in the kids zone and I come there often to watch the fishes everytime I’m too stressed from studying.
Too the ladies that helped me with printing issues at kiosk .. you are the best .. courtesy and professional on a different level.. I appreciate it
They were so poliet and know how to do their job,two girls and one boy, i went to many libaraies in edmonton and ive never went to one like this
My three kids, 5, 7, 10. Called this place their home away from home. Love the design of the building, lots of natural lights.
Had a horrible experience with micromanaging librarian. Got kicked out to allow others to come in but the library was empty.
The library is cold can you please turn up the heater. People have to keep their jackets on inside the library.
This is a great library, they have the top of the line library computers out of all the library's in Edmonton.
What a beautiful building... This will be my new go-to place to get out of the house and be inspired.
Super nice library, really clean! Has computers, wifi and study areas. Really nice staff!
