There is a reason you choose an age-old locally-owned place like FRENCH. The most horrible time in my life was made a bit sweeter by the people who took care of my mother, as well as taking care of me, in dealing with my mother's passing. Ending up with Shawn Coey as my director will be something I'm forever grateful for, as he was more than kind, and explained so much of what I needed to know. He put me at ease, at a time that was not easy. This is just a remarkable company. This town is fortunate that Mr. French opened his Mortuary here in 1907. "Local touch" is important to many of us here. And I will end with saying that I wish every mortuary had an embalmer on their staff, like the one who tended to my mother. To say she is a gem of an angel is a massive understatement. I’m choosing to keep her name private - but this one made so much of the sadness not so deep. Thank you, Steve Westman Albuquerque, NM
There is a time when we have to deal with a death and my time came as my husband passed away. I was lucky as my husband and I had our funeral arrangements made years ago. I was greeted with the kindest people from the day they picked up my husband’s body. I was greeted with kindness and wonderful director that would help me with all the funeral arrangements. I was explained everything that would be necessary and also choices that would make for a beautiful service. I was treated so kindly and with compassion for having to identify the body to taking the urn and an extra visit to make a change in the obituary. I’ve been so impressed and look forward to seeing how everything turns out for the celebration of life service will be. This is the second time having French Funeral take care of all my funeral needs and have been very happy.
It has been a sad few years for my family. My sister passed March 1, 2018, my dad November 16, 2018 and my mom April 17th 2020. French's handled the arrangements for all 3 of my family members. A lot of business's you are a memory after you hand them your money, not French's. Three years later and Trinity Montoya is still going above and beyond and is always responsive. My parents are both veterans and because of the pandemic we were not able to give them the service they wanted at the National Cemetery. Trinity is still helping us with all the arrangements and notifications 3 years later. I love that they took such good care of my loved ones who passed and I feel blessed that they are still taking care of us who remain.
The service by French was compassionate, personal, and reassuring. I especially want to thank Michelle Spilker, the Aftercare Estate Specialist, for her knowledgeable professionalism and personal follow-up to our phone conversation. Her email was an accurate synopsis of the many items we discussed, with all the information necessary for my follow-up. I didn't need to keep notes; she did it for me. I didn't need to research what to do; she did it for me. And even now, three months after my loved one's passing, the Aftercare people and program are available to me for help. It's been a wonderful service and resource, delivered by very kind people. Thank you.
Our son recently passed away while working temporarily in New Mexico. We live in Atlanta and found it necessary to obtain the services of a funeral home in Albuquerque. We visited the French Funeral Home - University in Albuquerque and were extremely pleased with the advice and services they offered. The morticians we met with were very knowledgeable and comforting. They spent time with us to explain every step of the cremation process and how they would deliver my son's remains to us in Atlanta. As promised, each step of the process was carried out in a dignified manner that put our heavy hearts at ease. We highly recommend French Funerals & Cremations.
Plans were made through a different company and we were told that all fees for transfer were arranged and paid for only to be told that we would owe $5000 to French’s for the services they provided in storage and transportation. The other company contacted them and made whatever concessions or arrangements but we still had to pay an additional $2000 we had not planned on to complete the arrangements to get my mom to her final resting place. All in all I am satisfied with French’s for the part they played in getting my mother safely to her family plot. I will likely use them for my own final arrangements should I remain in an area they service.
We lost our beloved brother unexpectedly while we were visiting him in the hospital. Our family had never had to deal with anything like this especially in an unfamiliar city far from home. From the moment we met Amanda and Aaron we know that Michael would be in the best care possible. Amanda helped us every step of the way and she has called us frequently to check on our family and how we are dealing with the grief process. I truly felt that she cared about our family on a personal level with such kindness and care. We are so grateful to have chosen French’s to help us through this very difficult time.
The services for my mother were exactly what she had planned before her passing. Shawn was very helpful and respectful and knew exactly how to make the arrangements easy for me to finalize. On the day of the funeral he was supportive and did an excellent job of explaining the events to my family. I received many comments from funeral goers about how smoothly the services were. The flowers were perfect and my mother looked beautiful and most importantly, there no surprises. Carla with Aftercare has been very helpful and informative as well as respectful of my time and concerns.
French’s Funeral Home has now gracefully managed the final rites of both my parents. Particularly as I reside out of state, the absolute professionalism and fine detail management by all the staff, is so gratefully appreciated by me and my family. The precise attention to my Mother’s recent passing by Amanda Trujillo ensured that all concerned were gently and carefully managed. I am truly grateful for her patience and kindness during such a complicated time. The added concerns of the pandemic were also perfectly handled. Thank you. Verlie Vigil
My stepdad passed away recently and we stopped in at French unannounced to make funeral arrangements. We were not sure we’d get to visit with a funeral director that day because we didn’t have an appointment. Nevertheless, Richard Stewart sat down with us. We opted for a no frills funeral but you would have thought we were going all out with the way Mr. Stewart treated us that day and with follow-up calls to keep us abreast of everything. We felt very cared for and I can’t express enough how well we were looked after through the entire process.
I cannot reccomend French's enough. My grandpa recently passed away (at 101!) and they took care of my very large family, and especially my grandmother, exceptional well. Trinity took care of everything, she was kind and patient and very helpful. Everyone I spoke to on the staff was extremely sensitive and helpful! The service was gorgeous and impeccably handled. I really can't say enough good things about French Funerals and Cremation. They even offered follow-up emotional support. A wonderful company to work with in a really hard time.
Fantastic experience. My mother died suddenly and I had no idea where to turn. Tom and Amanda at French's took over, helping to guide me through a very difficult time. Amanda was so caring, she checked in with me frequently and reminded me to take care of myself as well as my family. I was also very impressed by the on-line resources that were available, given these difficult COVID times. I have already recommended French Funerals to a friend and will do so again in the future.
Everyone was so caring and thoughtful. Liz was amazing she took helped care of all my dads last wishes. She had answers to all of my questions and would respond very promptly. The process was made very easy and I appreciate that because it left us time to take care of and focus on the other aspects of my dads burial. I don’t think my dad could’ve been in better hands. Thank you for all of your compassion!!
The staff of French Funerals has handled several of our family members over the years. They have always been professional in taking care of all the details of their services. We have two fully paid pre-planned arrangements with French Funerals and will continue to use their services in the future. They have been a wonderful company to work with. I would give them 10 stars if available.
Don't waste your time with the complimentary grief counseling. Miquela Rivera told us we would have 4 sessions, on the second virtual session Miquela couldn't remember our son's name. The second session she called late and cut us off early telling us that was it if we needed her to call. Called French twice to complain, never got a call back. Other than that everything was good
Choosing French Funeral to service our loved one, Dr. Joseph Charles, was a great blessing. The professionalism, timely response, and patience were amazing. Kim was gentle and so compassionate in her presentation. The transfer of Dr. Charles to Florida was flawless. We will be forever grateful. Thank you for your service in making this difficult time in our lives bearable.
Liz Hamilton, Dominic and the rest of the staff at French Funerals & Cremations were amazing and extremely helpful during a very difficult time. I was amazed how smoothly my mother’s funeral services went with the amount of people that ended up showing up. Accommodations were quickly made so everyone that showed up could view the service. Thank you for everything.
Amanda, Dominic and all the staff at French's Funerals & Cremations were so helpful in helping plan and assist with my mom's funeral and cremation. They answered all my questions and went out of their way to follow up with me about all the details. Amanda even showed up for the service and assisted the priest. I am so grateful to them during this difficult time.
French's was kind and compassionate when we dealt with the sudden unexpected loss of my mother. They were quick to accommodate, made space for our grief and did not try to upsell us in any way though the process. They truly wanted to help us navigate this tough time. I am grateful for their professionalism and support during this time.
Everyone at French Mortuary where so amazing and helpful, and they where with us every step of the way with both my Parents during this emotional time of Grief. Frank we had to have him as the Driver each time, because he made everything smooth, and just went above and beyond his duty he is awesome. Thank you so much from the Chavez's
I was very happy with the service that french funerals provided for our family, i've used french many of times, for our family, i was also an employee there many years back and was happy to work for the Stewart family as well. I would highly recomend french funerals & cremations to service your family in time of need......RPC
French Funerals and Cremations did a wonderful job with our family determining and carrying out the arrangements for my mother's services. They were most respectful of hers and our families wishes and made the arrangement process easy and as quick as possible. The services were well done and quite beautiful. Thanks very much!
My family used French's when my dad died 45 years ago, so they came to mind when my husband passed recently. They have been incredibly helpful with information and resources about moving forward after the death of a family member as well as funeral arrangements. Their standards of service and care have remained excellent.
At this very difficult time French's Mortuary and staff were so helpful. Amanda and Giovanni really helped ease stress with all they did. And Kathy with their aftercare was very patient and informative. I feel confident in knowing all things are tied up with my Dads passing. I totally recommend all involved.
The staff at French Funerals and Cremation were compassionate, clear, and efficient. We were treated with respect and dignity. I believe it takes a very special kind of person to deal with others who are grieving, and Kim was that person for us. I will always be grateful for the kindness.
Worst experience ever!!!! Have used Frenchs several times and have always had the best experience ever, but this last time was the WORST EXPERIENCE EVER!! Personnel, unhelpful, unfriendly, downright rude and unaccommodating. WHAT A SHAME.
All of the staff at French’s were extremely kind and compassionate. They made the whole process very simple and stress-free. I will definitely be using them again in the future. Highly recommend to anyone that has lost a loved one.
Staff made everything easy and peaceful. The respect the showed me and my mom (who passed) was outstanding. Shawn and Cassie were wonderful.
I had a great experience with Giovanni Baca as my funeral director. He was kind, caring, and compassionate. Also, he was very helpful.
