I rarely post reviews of businesses I’ve visited because my perceptions may be different than another’s and I don’t like to post negative things about local businesses, but the egregious behavior of two employees at this facility (one being the office manager) forces me to warn others. Quick background: My small dog has stopped eating for over three weeks and Dr. Luper has been running tests, prescribing meds/supps, etc in order to figure out what’s going on. The fact that she is unable to identify the problem with my dog is not the issue here. The issue is her staff. Wednesday afternoon, a blood test was performed to give us a preliminary result to see if my dog needed a further test for a particular disease. Further testing could be immediately performed once this result came in. Remember – she hasn’t been eating. She has lost 4 pounds and she was only 19 pounds to begin with. I am syringe feeding her pureed food but it is not enough. I was told by both Dr. Luper and one of her techs that the test results would be ready Thursday morning. Thursday at 11:30 a.m. I called the office and was told that the results were not in yet but they expected them soon and they would definitely call me with the results. By 4:30 pm I had not received a call and so I called the office only to be told that Dr. Luper was out of the office due to an emergency. I would not be able to get results until Monday. Surprised and worried, I asked why I couldn’t get them on Friday, but the person did not respond. She was silent. She finally said that my records would be sent to a specialist for further testing. I asked where they were being sent and SHE HUNG UP. I call back, thinking it may have been an accident, but no one at the clinic answered the phone. I left a frantic (and frankly, annoyed) message and immediately drove to the clinic to find out what was happening with my sick dog’s medical care. When I got there and told the front desk people that I had been hung up on and I am needing test results, I was handed a phone, with the “office manager” on the line. She proceeded to yell at me, (this is not an exaggeration), not letting me speak a word (“don’t you interrupt me!!!” she said) saying that she will not allow me to berate and cuss at her staff (this is patently untrue) and demanded that I LEAVE. Dr. Luper had an emergency and “she’s sorry that my dog is sick but …” She continued to behave in the exact manner that she was accusing me of, so I handed the phone back and said I wanted all of my dog’s records because I will have nothing else to do with this facility. The behavior of this office manager that Dr Luper hired, and I was told is her best friend, is egregious, appalling and unprofessional. I warn you – if you question or complain about anything, the staff will just stop communicating. Or yell at you. I was abandoned by this clinic, and left to look for a specialist for my sick dog and this staff could not care less.

So let's just be honest, if you have a pet they're more than just another mouth to feed or hobby, they're family. They become a part of your life in such a way that there presence is emotionally transformative and the idea of consciously losing them seems unbearable. The very essence of the value they bring to your life, leaves you with no choice but to choose a clinic that will honor their presence and being just as you. THAT is what Fur and Feathers provides. As the Pup Glam Ma of a rescue animal I was selective and intentional about who would care for our newest edition One call with Karen led me to promise land. They fulfilled every promise and then some. Upon entry from Sunshine to Gloria, to Susan and Quadoria I knew I made the right decision. Bridgid even managed to get a few poses out of him and was great at just being a comforter. That was only his first visit and believe me though a heartthrob he is as timid as they come in his trauma. Dr Luper has such a beautiful aura and took personal time to check up on my pup after a reaction to vaccines. They were prompt, efficient, and effective in resolving the issue. The team has followed up daily to ensure he is a -okay. The visits are affordable, but well worth the value of quality service. I cannot SAY ENOUGH how grateful we are for this hidden gem. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts, we look forward to many more great memories!! XOXO E

I am soooo thankful and grateful for all the staff at Fur & Feather but specifically for Bridgid. She has truly changed the vet experience for my husky from the worst/scariest place on earth to a kind, warm, full of treats and cheese place! My husky struggles with severe anxiety at the vet and would always become reactive aggressively and no other vet wanted to work with us. Other vets have yelled at me for "not training him" and made me feel like a bad owner. On the contrary, Bridgid worked with us every session and I have noticed a tremendous difference in Zeke's behavior and attitude every time we attend the vet now. What I loved most was they never pushed or forced Zeke to do anything he didn't want to do or cause any more trauma. With a little bit of help of anti-anxiety medications and a lot of help from the staff, vet visits are no longer painful for either of us. Truly recommend them to any pet owner who struggles with a reactive, anxious, upset pup. They will not give up on your pup!

I believe I heard good things and wanted to make an appointment but whyyyyy is it sooo difficult. I’ve never had to jump through so many hoops just to make an appointment. Here do this email. Then fill out this next email. Then we can get you an appointment— then we will call you. Then no call. So I call then… yall are waiting on something. Waiting on what??!! Just plum crazy. Work smarter not harder right…. I’m sorry but think I tried more than a few times at least to make an appointment. Should really think about how yall are doing things. Just sayn…. Waste of my time. Going through all that just makes me wonder what else is out of wack.. Please make it easier for the future fur babies parents to get them in for help. Thank you and have a wonderfullll dayyy…… Tell me your waiting on something you never asked me for or told me was missing is insane. You gotta call me back when you never called me back to begin with…. Bad service bad customer service. No no no no no…..

So happy I came here. My dog lost her eyesight earlier this week and so I found this place online and liked the good reviews. Brought her in and everyone was so kind and welcoming to us. The technician and doctor went out of their way to make sure my pup was comfortable and not anxious. The prognosis was a bit of a shock, glaucoma, because of my dogs age - 3.5 years old, but the vet was super kind and informative about everything, and even helped me find deals on the medication I’m getting prescribed. I didn’t feel rushed or like we were taking up too much time, and I loved getting so much information on how to learn to live with a visually-impaired pet. Excited for the follow-up in a couple weeks. I definitely recommend this place if you’re wanting a great environment and people who really care about your pets health.

The best vet ever! Having worked with different vets across the US for my first pup and now second pup, I feel so grateful and blessed to have come across Fur and Feathers. They set the standard very high. Learning about what being a Fear Free Certified vet alone was very eye opening to me. Jules and I have had three visits (one for what turned out to be allergies and two for vaccines and other wellness updates) at Fur and Feathers, and the team has been awesome each time. Karen, Victoria, Sunshine, and of course Dr. Luper are such compassionate and knowledgeable souls. Most importantly, my sweet Jules feels completely comfortable there and loves the team. Highly recommend Fur and Feathers for anyone looking for a great vet in the Montrose/Midtown area. We are so grateful to be working with them!

Being a newbie to raw feeding, it was important to me to locate a veterinarian who supported my choice to feed that way. I was searching for the reassurance that I am following a good plan and make sure my two pups were healthy and thriving. The staff at Fur & Feather are outstanding.....best I've come in contact with in a long time! Dr. Luper was absolutely excellent in her handling of my dogs. She was patient as I asked all my questions and gave me wonderful advice. Her care of animals was very evident to me. I will not hesitate to be a repeat customer! I've already started recommending her to others......:-)

An amazing veterinarian clinic with people that truly care for your pets as much as you do. My cat recently had surgery with them to remove a mass on his face. They explained every step to me about the surgery and after care so I wasn’t completely clueless. They even called me to personally explain the tests results on the mass and had a detailed explanation on the chart work as well. They always give you multiple options for care so you can choose the best one that you feel more comfortable with or that are within your budget. My two cats are super healthy and happy thanks to fur and feather.

This is by far the best that I have ever been to! Their fear-free training is amazing and makes my dog excited to come in! Dr. Bridgid and Dr. Luper really take their time and make sure that my puppy is comfortable and happy. They make sure to give my dog lots of attention and treats, she doesn't even know that she's getting a shot! I never did get the front desk people's names but they are kind as well and are always happy to answer any questions I have, even if it's a minute before closing they answer the phone.

We first came to Fur and Feathers about a year ago, it was recommended by our daughter. When we first arrived we were met by Bridgit and a very nervous puppy as his previous experience at the vet had not been favorable. We worked closely with Bridgit and noticed how changed and calm he had become after several visits with her. He is a transformed dog thanks to her patience and diligence I would certainly recommend F&F to anyone looking for a positive experience at the vets.

Best vet experience my cat has ever had! Not only was Karen, the receptionist, extremely kind and helpful but she was also very detailed to get all of his documents and records in order prior to his appointment. Dr. Luper was very gentle with my senior cat, made sure to check him thoroughly and was able to recommend both medication and natural supplements to help him. I will be bringing my other cat here and (hopefully) we will never go to any other vets!

I am grateful for the excellent care both of my Germans Shepherds have received from Fur and Feather. The staff is knowledgeable and caring. My email questions and calls were always answered in a timely manner. Dr. Luper is the best. I trust the health of my dogs with her. We make the long trip into town on a regular basis to access the excellent care from Dr. Luper and her staff.

Stormi had parasites when we got her from the breeder. After months of being on medication’s, thankfully we found Dr. Luper. She changed her diet and was better right away. Fur &Feather does not push you to overload your pet with medication’s and vaccines. They do titer testing and consider alternative & holistic approaches to pet care. I am so thankful that they are in Houston.

This vet told us my dog tested negative for something. Then I called back to confirm and was told actually she tested positive. While they did their best to make up for the mistake, I won't be taking my dog back to this vet. I cannot trust the way they are handling lab results. The lack of attention to details is very concerning.

I love doctor Luper’s bedside manner. We’ve been taking our elderly dogs to see her and have been having laser therapy for the 16 year old who has advanced arthritis. It’s working to help keep him comfortable. I can tell when it’s time for another round of therapy when he starts walking with his head down and back arched.

AMAZING! Highly recommend! Staff was so friendly and made Finnegan & I feel welcomed. Answered all my questions and gave recommendations. Love that they used treats and PB to help with examination & administering vaccines. Dr. L was also the best! All in all great rates & service went above and beyond, we shall be back!

We loved everyone we met at Fur & Feather! Dr. Pilgrim was great and handled our cat with such ease and kindness. Everyone was knowledgeable and helpful about best ways to care for cats! They provided care with us in the room so our cat could be his most comfy self. Highly recommend!

  • Chastity Holmes (ChastityYoga)

This is my new vet since I moved, and they got me in immediately to help with my cat Shadow's ear issues. The staff was beyond friendly and went above and beyond for me and my furbaby! The most comfortable I've ever felt being a newbie customer... definitely 5 stars in my book!!

  • Jon Staples

My wife and I drive here from Oklahoma City for our doghter's veterinary care. They take fear free seriously and work hard to make sure the animals have the best experience possible. Dr. Luper is absolutely amazing and we can't recommend the clinic enough.

We are new to town and needed to find a new vet. I’m so happy I chose Fur and a Feather. My dog and I were treated with respect and kindness. The staff went above and beyond to make us both comfortable and make sure my senior baby is healthy as can be!

  • Jacquelyn Strawser

Dr. Luper is great! She and her team always make you feel welcomed and answer all of my questions. I never feel like I am being rushed and Dr. Luper spends time to go over the treatment plan with us each time we come in. The treatment never

I'm so glad I was able to find this veterinary. I had been struggling to find a veterinary that satisfy my expectations in Houston but fur and feather has gone beyond satisfying me, their whole staff excel in its service.

All I did was speak to reception about my frog and they couldn’t treat it but I didn’t care because the receptionist was SO NICE! I loved speaking with her. She made me feel very important. Love it! Thanks!

  • Nathaly Aquino

I like that they are very patient with my dog. The visit rooms are very relaxing and clean. They support the raw diet which was a big thing for us, not all veterinarian offices are okay with this.

  • Lisa Cheng

They take the BEST care of my sugar gliders! Always quick to follow up with us and make sure things have been good and always the first to make us feel at ease.

  • Amber Eldridge

HIGHLY recommend. I have spent years looking for a vet that would ease my worries, listen and take care of my dog(s) and I finally found them!
