I am extremely disappointed in how my rental was handled, the situation is as follows. I rented a van on the 28th of June from the Truro office in order to move to London. The problems began the following morning on the 29th of June where I was scheduled to return the vehicle at London City Airport. I arrived before 9 am which was my return timeslot only to be told at the counter staff that the bays were full and that I should return it instead to The Tower, Guoman Hotel. The lady at London City Airport mentioned that they had tried to contact me. This is untrue. No email and no calls were received on my end. I then proceeded to drive the van through the morning rush hour to central London, this took an additional 2 hours. of my time. Upon arriving at The Tower the lady at there told us that we were infact not supposed to drop the van off as the van exceeded the height limit of the carpark. Despite telling her that we were instructed to bring the van there, she questioned our decision to bring it there since our drop off was meant to be London City Airport and that if we were to leave the van there it woudl incur ourselves a £100 fee. She tried to contact Budget at London City Airport and was unable to get through, we tried as well but waiting 30mins on hold was getting tiring. The lady at The Tower put us in contact with her manager Rebecca who is based at the Waterloo branch. Rebbecca was kind enough to let us drop the vehicle off there. We proceeded to drive through central London to our third budget office for that morning to drop the vehicle off. By then we had spent close to 4 additional hours dropping the vehicle off. She accepted the vehicle and told us that she would close the account and waive the £100 fee and that I would receive an email regarding the remaining payments. The following week on the 4th of July, I received a call from London City Airport asking when I would be dropping off the van. The account had not been closed and they were not informed. Till today I still have not received any follow up on the issue nor any emails from budget apart from this survey. I would not be hiring Budget Cars let alone recommending anyone in my circle to be subjected to such service. It was truly appalling.

Terrible experience here, absolute cowboys. I will never use Avis/Budget again. I pre-booked a car through Budget's website and collected the car approximately half an hour early. The representative was very matey-matey, before giving me the hard-sell for an upgrade I didn't need. The rental agreement was shown on a small screen, which required scrolling to view the whole agreement. No hard copy was provided. When I got to the car, the tank was only 90% full. While I should probably have walked 10 min back to the Budget office and queued to get the issue recorded, I decided to proceed on my journey (who has the time for that?). Upon returning my car at the pre-booked time, I was surprised to be hit with an extra days hire charge. It tuned out the return time on the rental agreement had been changed - this had not been pointed out to me. To add insult to injury, I had also been charged circa £200 for a "Complete Protection Pack", which I had not consented to (I never actually found out what this was, and Budget were unable to provide the details when asked). This was, of course, detailed in small print in the hire agreement that I didn't get a hard copy of, and could not read properly on the screen at the point of hire. The representative at the desk was not able to help, claiming the 'system' wouldn't allow the system to be waived (of course). When I emailed Budget customer service, received smarmy, boillerplate replies that did not deal with the material issues I was raising. I had to start complaining on social media to get a meaningful response, which at any rate did not gain me a refund of the money I was owed. I eventually was able to gain a full refund from my credit card company, but I was ready to take these jokers to small claims court. In summary, a terrible experience, one I would expect from a backstreet garage, not a multinational brand. These guys have terrible practises, and are skirting the boundaries of the law (in other industries, they would clearly be guilty of mis-selling). I will be taking my custom elsewhere in the future, and would urge you to too.

This branch feels really dishonest as the staff continuously try to make you pay more. Rent from Avis/Europcar would be better. 1. Rented a car for the weekend and the staff just added personal insurance without getting my approval. 2. Went late to collect a pre-paid car a second time, but was told they only hold cars for two hours before letting them go as 'they do not know if it is going to be collected or not'. This is ridiculous as the car has already been paid for the amount of time and yet they are looking to make more for the same vehicle? Then was told a 20quid upgrade per day is the only option, but upon further enquiry, he said maybe not 20 but 25 (all these without checking the system - dirty business tactics). However, upon further examining the receipt, I was charged 43.14 per day which is almost double what I was previously told! 3. Rented a mercs and 370quid was for deposit? this is probably the highest deposit I've had. could have gotten much better rates at other rental companies. 4. Went into the mercs only to realise they removed the SD card for navigation system. So why am I paying premium for a handicapped car? If this is company policy to remove navigation systems from cars which comes with navigations upon sale, I think this is really underhanded. If this isn't company policy but staff stealing the SD cards, then I think it needs to seriously review the character of staff it hires. 5. 'Email' doesnt work as they do not provide email address and the faq page to type would show 'We were unable to process your request. Please contact us by email or by phone.' after pressing send. 6. Calling their hotline incur charges and that is the only way to contact them since emailing does not work. This is such a shady business to even be in the UK!

On arrival we followed the hertz signs and ended up in the returns area,so had to pull over in a non-waiting area to get keys etc then drive back to the returns area to collect car. Much easier to walk. We were given 7 seater ford galaxy automatic upgrade instead of the Skoda manual we booked months ago so my husband was a bit annoyed. The lady named Greta was very polite and searched other locations for us. Having no luck she said she would call id any manual came back today which she did. We decided to keep the galaxy as its a great car to drive but it must be notes for Greta's hard work and remembering to think of us, she was dealing with a quite unpolite customer before me and didnt falter her professionalism. On return we followed the signs and parked up in one of the Hertz bays and simply handed the keys back at the reception as per collection. I would advise photographing your rental on return as leaving it parked there without anyone to sign it off as returned as rented bugged me...been caught by another rental who tried to fine me for damage after I returned vehicle so took my pictures to prove returned condition. No issues afterwards. Happy to use again.

Pre-booked Automatic online for 3 weeks earlier, but said no Automatic at the counter and FORCED UPGRADED to Electric Car (EV). Time cost of charging issues RUINED OUR WHOLE JOURNEY. 2. Poor car condition but NO EXPLANATION IN PERSON. Paid for SuperCover but got charged 220 pounds ONLY ON THE SPARE WHEEL SCRATCH. Robbers. 3. Passive and EXTREME IRRESPONSIBLE customer service. Besides replying contradictory statements and not answering my questions at all, they falsely accused that I didn't return the charging fob (THEY ACTUALLY DIDN'T GIVE ME ANYTHING ELSE EXCEPT THE CAR KEY!!!) According to their ridiculous English comprehension, I wonder how they found their jobs in the UK.

Hertz City Airport (London) is the most disappointing car rental I have encountered in my well travelled life. Myself and my fiancee were going to the British countryside for a weekend. The sales person overheard us talking about the time of returning the car on Sunday and reassured that we did not have to return the car during their opening hours. In fact, she said, we could return the car at any point of time by dropping the keys into Hertz post box... Once reassured we returned the car after hours. A few months later we received an invoice for damage done QUITE A FEW DAYS AFTER OUR RENTAL PERIOD. We have complained, yet all our complaints remained unanswered. The only sort of correspondence we have received so far were letters asking for payments! DO NOT RECOMMEND HERTZ TO ANYONE AND WILL NEVER USE HERZT AGAIN!!!! There are by far much more economical and better managed companies!

No queue at the desk, but probably because people are booking elsewhere. You get there to find they don't have the car you asked for and they are about to give you one of the bottom spec cars (manual, petrol and no nav or bluetooth), when I said you should be upgrading me then, they said I could have an upgrade for double the rental price I had already paid. I said no I'll take it for much cheaper as its your error, they replied and said that if they gave me that for cheap or nothing then they lose money on the person who has the car booked, I said what happens when they arrive then? The manager said "I'll deal with that when it happens" ... meaning they give your car away if someone else asks for an upgrade. Shocking and I won't be booking with these again, I'll happily wait in the Europcar queue now.

I have rented from this location before, but will never do it again. Staff completely unequipped to deal with anything beyond the most basic situations. The second an even slightly non-standard issue occurs, they’re completely useless. Also, they seem to have a very tenuous grasp on the driving laws of their own country. As result of my interaction with staff this morning, I’ve spent an hour searching the UK driving code for a mention of being unable to accept temporary American licenses and have found zero reference to the same. Thanks very much, Hertz LCY, for ruining part of our vacation. Never again. Please don’t respond to me saying that you “will use this experience for training purposes”. By your other reviews it’s pretty evident that you will do no such thing.

Picked up the car at London Heathrow and returned at London City Airport. There was nobody to inspect the car at the returning point. Delivered the Keys to Hertz office and within 30 minutes they semd me an invoice where it's stated that I had caused damage on left front rim. First of all I've been from Heathrow to Essex and from Essex back to London City Airport and used motorway only, so I am wondering how this happened. Obviously they refer to the general terms and conditions and I have signed for it. So I have to pay. I will pay 110GBP for the damage with a smile, well done Hertz, today you've earned 110GBP but will loose a customer worth 25 business trips a year plus holidays. I rather prefer to pay a bit more without hassle then using Hertz ever again.

My wife and I booked a car there between Christmas and New Year for a little holiday. The pick up went very smoothly, the staff was very friendly and approachable, and the car was in good condition and the tank full. The return went also well for most parts except the computer system was down and I was told that for that reason I would get an email confirming return of the car within half an hour which did not happen - I actually never got that email. So I had to spend some time on the phone to Budget the following day until I got a confirmation that my return had been successfully logged and I am no longer responsible for the car which was a bit inconvenient. Other than that and for the staff on site thumbs up!

Didn't have the car I'd booked and paid for, which seems to be a common occurrence, even though I very clearly specified that I needed extra boot space for medical and baby equipment so a very tight squeeze and uncomfortable journey. On returning the car, the guy was too "busy" to look at the car with me. After driving away I received an email saying "Customer left" - of course I did I had a flight to catch - but didn't mention I asked him to look before I did. Allegedly I scratched a rim, the car had been parked in a car park in a space where this wasn't possible or driven on a main road. Keep the money, you've lost another customer who flies very frequently, and get new staff

Very poor customer service and no explantion as to why additional fees have been charged and no return of deposit. The car had a slow puncture from the day we picked it up, unknown to us that there was a nail in the side of the tyre, we changed the tyre at our own expense. Returned the car to find they have charged us an additional £300 (no explantion) £80 callout fee (as expected) and not returned the refundable £200 with no explanation as to why. After making a formal complaint and questioning we recieved an email 2 months after to state that all payments are correct. No explanation, we are now £500 down. I would advise against using Bugdet, pay the extra and go elsewhere.

I was charged an extortionate £280 for alloy damage. I didn't think to check these before collecting the car as i wasn't aware of the charges you can receive for them, scuffs on the wheels weren't something i questioned. The damage was clearly already there when i rented it. They also make it impossible to challenge the damage, phone rings with no answer. Congrats Hertz, i'm in my early 30s and for the rest of my life will never rent from you again and will go out of my way to recommend people to use anyone else. Hope the scam was worth it.

This rental establishment is a disaster. We waited 45 mins in line for our pre booked car. Only 1 hertz person present, all other car hire firms had 2. The delay for every person in line was that Hertz did not have any of the vehicles matching the bookings. Some of them they don’t even stock! Same for us, unable to provide a car from the category we booked...no mid size available. We’ve travelled the world with hire cars everywhere. Never again will we use Hertz at City Airport. Total rubbish

Horrible!! el peor servicio que he recibido en todas mis ocasiones como turista!! durante el viaje tuvimos un problema con un neumático y la compañía no nos dio ninguna solución a pesar de haber contratado el seguro total y mas caro! Tuvimos que incurrir en costos extras para solucionar esto y a pesar de que he enviado varios mails de quejas y explicaciones, ni siquiera se han dignado en contestarme. La verdad no se lo recomiendo a nadie porque te hacen pasar un mal momento!!!

When i arrived there was no one attending the desk and i waited 15mins for a woman to turn up using her phone. She ignored me and when she finally finished her phone call i was greeted with "what do you want?". Absolutely ridiculous. The car was fine and the price was competitive. However, on returning the car i didnt receive my deposit until the end of the month! 3 and a half weeks after the car was returned! Shameful customer service and no after care at all.

ZERO STARS! Hertz and especially this branch has showed a level of incompetency that is fortunately hard to achieve! The staff is unapologeticly rude and the cars are junk. I hired a faulty ford focus and unlike most respectable company, who trades in accordance with the law, Hertz refused to change the car. They wanted me to hire another of their rubbish cars whilst they would review whether to reimburse me the one which was faulty! CROOKS DO NOT USE!

Firstly, I did not get the Car I booked (This one's boot is too small). Next, I requested the sales officer who gave me the keys to show me how the Car works, that was refused. So, I am still trying to figure out various things of this car. Finally, I was told that it would be given with full tank petrol, I had to sign for this without given a chance to see it. I notices that it was not a full tank at all. Not the best start, I guess! Thanks

Hired from Budget at Heathrow with drop off at London city Airport a week later as I was flying out of there early morning Absolutely no instructions where to go what to do. Basically it is anyone's guess what to do with the car once you get LCY . I still do not know if I did the write thing Way to stressful when you are trying to catch a flight. They could have given instructions on pick up Surely someone knew.

Very deceitful, they altered the return time and added a fuel charge to boost up the total charge even though the car was returned on time with a full tank; bear in mind when the car was rented to us it did not have a full tank. Now trying to contact them is a huge issue, definitely stay away if you don't live in the area as the only way to contact them is to head to their office to dispute the charge.

Absolutely ABYSMAL. We have been waiting for almost 2 hrs for someone to SHOW UP and serve us at their supposedly open branch where we have paid and reserved a car for an agreed time. There is a queue of customers and we are all stuck as Hertz customer service have not let us cancel and are offering us zero help or options and have just advised us to WAIT until someone shows up ?!?!?! DON'T BOOK!!!!!!!

Terrible customer service! They cancelled our car hire which spoilt our day trip to the seaside. When we asked for a reason they could provide us with one. We were given a number to call to process the refund, which has not happened yet. Instead we have been the run around being passed from one person to the next. Disgusting company, quick to take your money but not quick to give you your money back.

Rudest customer service I've ever experienced. There was a problem with my booking and rather than apologising and sorting it, their attitude was more like 'deal with it and leave us alone'. Manager stood with her arms crossed looking me up and down, rather than addressing the matter with 'how can I help you?' Just absolutely disgusting behaviour and disgusting people. Book with another company.

One week after my rental, I get a charge of £42 for cleaning! Nothing was mentioned to me at pick-up. I found the charge by checking my credit card statement, I was never contacted by Hertz. Before returning the car, I had made sure that I cleaned all dirty surfaces inside and took all garbage/paper/wrappers etc out. The only thing I didn't do was hoover the seats and floor....

Hertz ruin Christmas! Confirmed and paid for car months ago only to receive a call a day before Christmas holiday to be told “We don’t have any cars - it’s a London problem”. Outrageous - what is the point of making a booking? No assistance given in finding an alternative car and still over 250 pounds out of pocket. THIS IS A SCAM BUSINESS - AVOID AT ALL COSTS!

Waited for 40 minutes for my car, even though I could see it waiting outside. Then when I got home, I discovered I had been given the wrong car, so all the paperwork was for a different vehicle. Then had to wait an hour on the phone trying to tell them about this. Very good at taking peoples orders, but hopeless at giving out cars (especially the right ones!!)

Worst Car rental. Had booked a car for day, but got a call the day before my pickup saying they do not have the car that I had booked. When I went to pick it up, they refused to give me the car saying that there system showed that I was not authenticated. This inspite of me showing all the utility bills, council tax and identity card. Worst experience ever !

Zero Stars--AVOID. The system won't let me give zero stars, but that's what they deserve. Had a reservation scheduled for 27 May 2017. The staff literally didn't turn up. No staff, no way to get your car, phoned the reservation line for assistance and the the best they could do was email the regional manager. I'm a Hertz Gold Member...but not anymore.

Car picked up Heatrow and delivered in LCY. the problem is that they accuse me of having had a car accident, it was certainly not my fault. it must have happened in the parking lot after my sign. anyway I have full insurance and am willing to pay. pity that no one answers me on the phone or emails. You are providing shameful service and assistance.

Worst company by far, was supposed to pick up a volvo xc90 as a guaranteed vehicle under their prestige collection but did not get it. Rude customer service and did not get my deposit back yet. Still waiting for my refund, try other car rental companies and avoid this one. When I tried to return the car they gave me, nobody was at the desk.

Completely spoiled our day trip. We booked an 8-seater but was given a car with 7 seats with “one missing seat”. Service was extremely disappointing and it was unacceptable that no help was offered at all to find alternative options. The manager was rude and racist. Will not be renting from Hertz again (especially this branch)!!

The guys here at the counter were top shelf - I happen to pick up a car when the phones and computers were down. They managed it as well as anyone could. They explained everything to me, and in the end we got the job done, finished the process, and I was "over the moon" happy with the outcome and process - Good Job Hertz

This is the worst car rental experience I have ever had. They provided a car that had unsafe tires (comment from their technician) and left me stranded in London for the entire first day of my rental. They then promised no additional charges over the phone but hit my credit card for hundreds. Never rent from Hertz!

AVOID BY ALL MEANS! the guy at return and the company is a scam and they cheat: they claim non-existent damages (e.g. a flat tire, although it wasn't , as we checked together with the guy). Very unfriendly and fraudulent service, which I wouldn't have expected from a company like Hertz! AVOID BY ALL MEANS!

Good solid service. Got the car I wanted and drop off and pick up quick and painless. There was a mix up with the billing but that was sorted after a short phone call therefore took off a rating star for that. Also Budget are at the airport unlike some of the fly by night rental companies who claim to be.

Horrible customer service, avoid this place at all costs. Representative just addressed me as "Brother", first time for me as a customer. Also: just forget about picking up a car there after 4pm. God forbid you land there at 5pm. Completely unacceptable for a so-called international airport.

My experience was good. There was no waiting time at pick up but right after I got the key a small queue started to build up. I got the car I ve initially chosen, a C class Mercedes. Returning the car was easy and the check out very quick. Everything was smooth and there were no surprises.

Writing this review as we've been waiting almost two hours. Not a single employee at the desk, customer support were called multiple times and we're very helpful in trying to find where the employee was. Don't use them save your money and time. Absolutely horrible service.

Fabulous service from Amandeep and staff at Hertz LCY. Despite Covid uncertainties and lack of sufficient vehicles these days, they did great job of accommodating my needs and took me thru the process of hiring and returning the car, very efficiently.

Didn't get the car I reserved, I was not informed prior to my arrival and they gave me a smaller car instead. Still haven't received my deposit back since 4th June (23 days ago). Service was just terrible and the staff is definitely incompetent.

Good service BUT please register for Gold membership. Almost got refused rental for some unknown reason - most likely address change. I mentioned that I'm a Gold member and all those issues disappeared and I could rent my car.

0 stars if possible be careful they try to find the slightest scratches, even on the wheel to make you pay a lot. service fee is usually as much as the damage fee. rude client service on the desk as well. would try to avoid.

The manager Mr Thorton is the worst manager i ever met in my whole life.. very unprofessional, with rasist traits , stereotyping, rude. I will not recommend the branch because of him. I had the worst experience ever.

11am booking, waited in line for 30 mins to be told that a car wouldn't be available for at least an hour by rude unhelpful staff. Hilariously awful service. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. We used Europecar who were amazing.

ターミナルから出て駐車場方向の更に奥の方にあるプレハブ小屋が受付。保険やカーナビをしつこく勧められるのではと思い戦々恐々として行ったが、それらを特に勧められることはなく、大きいVWの車を追加料金無しで貸せるがどうだ?と言われたくらい。ハーツなら国際免許証も要らないのでまた利用しても良いと思います。

Good service but the setup mirrors City Airport in that it’s a bit of a shed. It’s perhaps 500m walk from the terminal so relatively convenient.
