I'd give this place zero stars if I could. I brought back a car that - agreed- was rather dirty but without damage. I, in the process of driving, had somehow misplaced the key fob which the staff luckily found. The lady at the counter tried to make me pay a cleaning fee because she said I had "violated the terms and conditions" but was unable to show me in the terms and conditions where I had violated the rental agreement. As I had purchased the extra protection against all damage insurance, including to the undercarriage in case a kangaroo jumped in front of me, I thought that everything would be fine and left the car with the agency to catch my flight to Perth. Imagine my surprise when a week later hertz notified me by impersonal email that I had "damaged the car" and that they would be charging me for the "damage" as well as for the lost key?! I immediately wrote them back and stated I did NOT agree they could charge my card. Even further surprise- I get back to the US and find that my card had been charged 564.32 USD!!! They also promised to provide photos of the "damage"- but all they provided were pictures of dirt - one photo actually was a close up of a gum wrapper that had fallen on the floor. A. gum. wrapper. The entire rental, even with the BOGUS cleaning fee (240 AUD btw!!) Should have only come to around 300USD so where did they get an extra 200 dollars from?! I've had to dispute this whole transaction via my credit card. But travelers beware- they made sure to not do this until I had left Australia so they could make sure I wouldn't go to a Hertz office and dispute this. Avoid Hertz Australia at all costs!
Staff members at the reception desk appeared friendly but were not willing to help and avoided responsibility when an issue was raised. Please make sure the fuel tank is full and record the kilometers before driving off the hertz office. I hired a hybrid camry the most recent model and trusted them regarding the full fuel tank but obviously it was not, ended up making me pay almost $20 for refilling the fuel tank only for 4 day vehicle use only for commuting to work. I have driven a 2010 production hybrid camry for 11 years and $20 fuel easily lasts 2 weeks for me to commute to work as its forte is fuel efficiency. And this hertz's most newest hybrid camry model costed me $20 for 4 days driving When I raised the issue they calculated my driving kilometres while hiring. Then admitted the tank might have not been full and $20 was way too much for the kilometres, then told me they would be able to reimburse $10 into my account. However the reimbursement never happened in 3 weeks, thus I called them back only to hear they changed their mind to not reimburse whatever amount it was to me. They even made up nasty excuses like I must have consumed so much fuel because I might have speeded or used too much air-conditioner, etc., which was really inappropriate and insulting. Given seemingly friendliness their actual service and service mindset was unprofessional and disappointing. I would not recommend or use this blyth hertz again.
RENTERS BEWARE - you may be pinned for previous damage. We had rented a car through Hertz via Firefly. When we arrived the car we had booked was not available, but we didn't think much of being given a much larger car as the change was the same. We also didn't think much of the fact that they didn't do the usual walk around of the vehicle before we took it - I walked around with my camera though and took photos of a few noticeable dings. We drove the car to visit family out of town and back again - everything went smoothly, we checked the car again and the returned it. To our surprise on return we were informed that 'new' damage to the car was spotted - a barely imperceptible indent (which I had to have pointed out to me twice) on the curb side of the vehicle and 'evidence' that it wasn't there previously in the form of a previous photograph was produced. The offending dent was not visible in the low light and the long range of the original photo, and the woman assisting us admitted she had not herself inspected the car when it came back last time. I tried to demonstrate that the dent was not able to be seen in a similar retaken photograph.. but apparently it's now our word against theirs, despite the fact that we are very sure that the damage was not done during our rental. It was a very disappointing end to what would have otherwise been a really good weekend.

Do not book with Hertz! Disappointing service. My flight was delayed and when got to the counter to pick up my car for the weekend, no one was there and therefore could not get our car. This resulted in us needing to ask family to pick us up late at night. Next day I called my booking platform and ended up needing to cancel the booking resulting in a loss of $60 despite the situation being out of my control. I also called Hertz Adelaide Airport who went on to explain defensively that they only stay till 11.05. If you’ve booked with Hertz, you better hope your flight isn’t delayed as these people do not care. We have now paid for a car with Avis who funnily enough were the only ones open last night given the delays.
Awful experience with hertz adelaide airport. Paid for a suzuki swift and got a piece of crap mitsubishi 2015 mirage. Worst car to drive ever. Dont take one. Cvt auto, drives like a gokart, crap suspension, crap air con, lifeless performance. Returned car 4 hours early just because it was SO PAINFUL TO DRIVE. 4 days after vehicle returned they still have not refunded my $400 bond for the vehicle when website stated it was only a $220 bond. Use budget or europecar, hertz are awful.. 1 out of 5 stars only as i cant leave ZERO
Best avoid Hertz. Beside the scam pricing model they use the car they provided broke down, delaying us 3 hours. The car was 13000kms past service requirements. They charged us an extra day of hire because we were a few hours over the return time (the result of their poorly maintained vehicle) The lower price they advertise is only if you wish to have a $5000 excess and without the array of hidden costs like location charges per day and high credit card surcharges.They turn out the most expensive option.
Adelaide office is nice... but instructions finding it is crap. My car was upgraded to a gorgeous Camry, as no small cars avail. Staff sorting me a car on the phone were lovely, and the man at the Adelaide counter was very cheery. Today I had to call to extend the loan for 2 days, and was fixed under 5mins. Onlly thing I would suggest, is to PLEASE tell people where the handbrake is.. its a foot pedal.. took me 20mins in the carpark to find it in the manual. It is new technology. Thats all.
Great place. I have to say Dee is a very good worker there. Very friendly and makes the process easy ( I booked online and car is ready to go with minimal time) I highly recommend this store. I asked quotes from few others around town and they gave me the best rate ( I rented a Mercedes Benz V250d at the price of what other companies will offer me Kia carnival or Hyundai iMAX. Keep it up.
I had a wonderful customer service experience here recently courtesy of Jill and Chris. They went out of their way to accommodate a last minute change and I could not be happier with their care and service. Terrible. Vehicles advertised that are not available contacting the central contact centre only results in them having to contact the local branch anyway to confirm and get back to you. Seems to be a trend amongst these organisations to get people to come to their site. Used this group a year or so ago and this was just a bad experience.
Firefly Car Rental booking which is the low cost option of Hertz is what I'm reviewing. Recieved exceptional service from the ladies at the front counter which is easy to miss as it sits just off to the right of the hotel entrance. Booked a Toyota Corolla but got upgraded to a Nissan Qhasqai which was brilliant. Highly recommended.
Hit a kangaroo driving Hertz car, damaged the car. Spent hours and hours on the phone just to make payment on the excess fee. Now the case still hasn't been settled 3 weeks after the crash and I am leaving Australia soon! This is the last time I will ever hire Hertz rental car.
Blyth st Adelaide Depo staff member was friendly helpful and was a pleasure to deal with pity he had to answer phone,book cars out and inspect returned cars. The phone calls take most Of his time as people on other end seem to want to waste his time.
Friendly, welcoming, clear, accurate, fast, reliable service with full of hospitality. A pleasant experience with Hertz Adelaide. Of course, our car was in very good status and stable. Temporary road work was well-noticed for clients' easy way-out.

We had a loan car from Hertz after an accident, brought it back on a full tank and after we left were charged $40 for fuel on a car that wouldn't even take $40 to fill.
Had a good experience on this branch of Hertz. Staff was very accommodating and helpful. They also provide free bus shuttle to the airport but in scheduled times.
Horribly slow service. Got stuck here for almost an hour, and it wasn't even that busy. Not the way I wanted to spend my morning. Not gonna use Hertz again.
Long waiting queues to be served, but great friendly service once you're dealing with their staff. Reasonably priced hire cars... Look out for their offers.
