"This place is nice as it has not been damaged through unnecessary restoration"
"What an awesome hidden gem! It is easy to get here with parking available"
"Interesting spot to see the old defences and cannons"
"Not sure what to make out of this place except for some history lesson and couple of old artillery cannon which probably use gunpowder"
"I was looking for the viewpoint of John Glover's painting of Hobart and Battery Point, and how different does the area look today! Lovely views across the Derwent toward Hobart and Mt Wellington"
This place is nice as it has not been damaged through unnecessary restoration. It is a good example of how history can be celebrated without all the "touristification." Has been made safe but is otherwise in reasonable order. If anything we create today survives for 150 years like this old fort I will be surprised.
Picnic area
I didn't notice any amenities or bbqs but it would be a lovely place for a self sufficient picnic. It was one of my favourites 25 years ago!
What an awesome hidden gem! It is easy to get here with parking available. There is stunning views of Bellerive and Mount Wellington; the ruins are stunning and there is information available to read about the battery. “Jonique Life” Follow our journey around Australia on Facebook, Instagram, Tik Tok and YouTube as we highlight wonderful experiences and magical places you can add to your ever growing bucket list.
Interesting spot to see the old defences and cannons. But you can't take your dog past the entrance. Why not? What's going to happen? There's nothing there to be damaged or special flora and fauna. Just stone, grass and cast iron. People's boots do more damage. So because I had my dog I missed out on learning something and appreciating the history of the area.
Not sure what to make out of this place except for some history lesson and couple of old artillery cannon which probably use gunpowder. We were here base on some suggestion that this is a good place for a picnic, maybe some time ago this was good for a picnic or we were in the wrong place.
I was looking for the viewpoint of John Glover's painting of Hobart and Battery Point, and how different does the area look today! Lovely views across the Derwent toward Hobart and Mt Wellington. The ruins of the old battery was a pleasant surprise and is interesting to explore.
Situated at Bellerive on Hobart's Eastern Shore. Stunning views of the Derwent River, Hobart, and Mt. Wellington. Has an easy walking track that takes you around the foreshore from Bellerive Wharf/Bellerive Village to Bellerive Beach. Also
Kangaroo Bluff is an old battery or gun position overlooking the Derwent River. It’s an interesting place with open trenches around the gun placements. There are signs in place explaining the history and locked gates barring access to the
This is a place with some beautiful history. Last year the place was a lot nicer but don’t know what happened. You should visit the place in day time and be careful as inside the site the roads are uneven.
Interesting place to visit with historical information available as you walk around the site. No wheelchair access. Not a good place for kids to run around, as they could fall into the open tunnels.
We took a picnic lunch there. Had the most amazing view across to Hobart and the best part was we were the only people in the whole park. It was like discovered and undiscovered jewel.
Very picturesque location with great view of Hobart and harbour, along with significant historical value. Note there are no sanitary facilities there.
Fantastic place! Tranquil with lovely views of the water, the city of Hobart and even Mt. Wellington! A hidden gem, not a lot of tourists come here.
Lots of people dogs and cars. Fairly busy, facilities are unisex, large area set aside for building. For a quick walk the dog its okay.
Stellar view with plenty of places to admire the view as you walk, or sit. Rehabilitated with native plants adds to the appeal.
Cool place to run around and play with kids. I imagine it would be an epic location for a nerf or water fight party!!!
Well maintained. Well researched information. Not overdone or capitalised. Great place to explore and relax .

Great views down the Derwent and very quiet. Good place to walk around for half an hour without any crowds.
Nice views but access to cave area closed at time of visit. Would not have travelled there if we had known
Love this place, not looking forward to the proposed development though. It won't be the same anymore : (
