"So much history and really worth going"
Very nice with a lot of walking. Lots of reading. Amazingly beautiful but sad when you think about how humans were treated to have such a placem The main house was not open but the building that was the kitchen is open. The visitor center is very small with a few things for sale. Amazing old Florida drive to Plantation.
Well maintained history, wonderful deep Florida feel with over hanging trees and drooping Spanish Moss. It’s a flat walk around the property. Take is slow while driving the 2 miles of dirt road leading back to the park, it’s beautiful and one of the best parts of this place. Free admission.
We visited this national park some time ago. It was a lovely setting and very informative. The grounds were well kept. You can walk through at your own pace and read about its history on the many signs posted around the property. The view of the Fort George River is quite nice as well.
A beautiful plantation with nicely manicured grounds. The continuing preservation of the buildings and grounds was in progress at the time of my visit and not much was open to the public. But exploring the grounds provided information and evidence of life during those times.
So much history and really worth going. It’s free so def take advantage of it! The highlight was Tom Weeks. He was so knowledgeable and answered ALL my questions. Then go down the road some more and visit the St. George Episcopal church, it’s beautiful inside. More
Warning!!! The road to Kingsley Plantation is narrow and a bit rough. We went after a rain shower, so that's why I thought to warn. This place was beautiful. Great scenery as well. Wish I could've went inside of the house but they really want to persevere it. More
Expected to see more exhibits inside. It is nice to walk and see the historical places. Owner’s house is empty inside, 4 rooms you can walk through. That would feel absolutely different if some of items or furniture would be staged there More
This was a great outing with the family. A major kudos to the park ranger who sits in the house. He was such a bucket of information. There is no way to learn it all in ten minutes, but you could definitely listen to him for hours. I highly
Great place very educational. Crazy bumpy muddy road to get there. Staff friendly and helpful. Remember other people there to learn and can help from going back to the past. Take your friends, family, and kids for educational experience More
It took me awhile to finally find this place. The road in is secluded but be prepared, it is VERY VERY long. Miles long but, when you get there it's some amazing sites to behold!! So much history still lives there but awful things happened
The richness of the history of the family is amazing. The audio tour was extensive and detailed. The interpretation did not shy away from talking about the family's polygamy. It acknowledged that these slaves were treated better under this
Very nice place to bring the family and learn not just a little of Florida history but the darker side of our history here in the south. Very happy things aren't this way anymore. Very informative and very eye-opening none the less. Would
We walked around the Plantation for a couple of hours. It was a beautiful day, with sunshine and a nice breeze. The visit was very educational. I have never walked the plantation before, but I remember seeing the slave houses. The history
A bit out of the way from the historic downtown area but it's worth a trip out here to experience some of the most important parts of our history and country's identity that we should never forget and learn from. The entire experience is
Kingsley Plantation, maintained by the National Park Service, is located at the northern tip of Fort George Island in Jacksonville Florida. The road getting there, through the Fort George Island Cultural State Park is narrow and rough on
Visited in May 2022 and it was a great visit. The plantation and grounds were well maintained and beautiful. Lots of information on the plantation itself and what life was like during it's high life. Bird and fish life is plentiful all
This was one of the best Historical places I have been to in a while It was not only easy to lose track of time but to invision the ships arriving heavy laden with supplies for the Plantation. Mrs. Anna Kinsley would have been so
Fantastic historic/archeological walking tour with Ranger Josh. The location is rich with history & he is rich with knowledge. He was very personable & kept the discussion lively. They also have an interesting audio tour. You can
Visited on a Saturday afternoon. Beautiful scenery to get to this historical site. Very informative. I learned a lot and went through an array of emotions. Worth the visit. Nice gift shop.
Quick little day trip checking out the Kingsley plantation. There is a little gift shop and bathrooms on location. It is a national park. You can drive up on a boat and tour for free More
I totally LOVED visiting Kingsley Plantation!! History books don't do it justice as to what they went through. I learned so very much. More then I ever have in my 57 years on earth. More
Audio tour was well done & very informative. Park ranger in the plantation house was very knowledgeable & friendly. So glad this important piece of history has been preserved. More
We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Kingsley Plantation. There was a lot of history about how the work was accomplished, and the old structures were nice. More
What an incredible walk through history, we have learned a lot. Everything is super well taken care of. There are informative audios and
We always enjoy visiting the Kingsley Plantation and hearing about it's history. There are many things to do around the plantation.
Wonderful presentation. Kingsley was different then most slave holders so a more interesting plantation to visit. More
Beautiful grounds, well kept. The staff was very knowledgeable and taught us more about the history, thank you.
Very informational monument. Its very heartbreaking to think of what happened to the slaves that lived there.
