L'amour Cafe and Pastry is like stepping into a cozy French bakery right in the heart of the Mount Pleasant neighborhood. It's a hidden gem that often goes unnoticed but deserves so much more love and attention. The owners of this charming cafe are a friendly couple who have a great eye for quality. As soon as you walk in, you can feel the French vibes with the chic furniture and the sunlight streaming through the big windows. The highlight of L'amour Cafe and Pastry is undoubtedly the impressive display of pastries. Muffins, doughnuts, and an array of croissants (including vanilla, almond, and pain au chocolat, etc.) are beautifully showcased at the window. It's clear that great care is taken in crafting each item. Some details that showcases their commitment to quality is their Belgian hot chocolate. They use real chocolate, which they even showed me. Any connoisseur of Belgian chocolate knows that it is made from high-quality cocoa beans, and this attention to detail shines through in their hot chocolate. They also use the BALMUDA bread toaster...if you know..you know. To my surprise, they also offer OATLY oat milk, a brand I had previously encountered only in the Netherlands. OATLY is known as the biggest oat milk company in the world, and it's crazy how to find it in such an obscure place in Toronto. In addition to their pastry and hot beverage offerings, L'amour Cafe and Pastry boasts an impressive selection of Italian sodas in various flavors, from classic choices like lychee to more unique options like melon. The variety is sure to satisfy any craving. Considering the current economic climate, it is truly refreshing to find a cafe that offers such affordable prices without compromising on portion sizes or quality. Their iced lattes, priced around 5-6 dollars, are equivalent to the size of a venti cup at Starbucks. It's an exceptional value that is difficult to find elsewhere. For anyone who loves pastries or cute cafes, I highly recommend you checking it out. Trust me, this place is worth a visit.

Wow, found this hidden gem, as I go hunting for best bakeries and cafes in Toronto. So I’m an early bird showed up first thing on a Sunday morning I had their pistachio filled donut and a latte, wow that European style donut was light airy, crispy on the outside and filled with pistachio cream, was so delicious I enjoyed that so much washed it down with a latte fantastic 5 star! Staff were kind and friendly bright sun filled happy place a patio outside to enjoy your morning glory what else you ask for. However the latte has flavor but little to strong for me, but most people would enjoy that strength overall it is a must try for all limited quantities are made fresh every morning so you must get there early to enjoy that they also have amazing croissants filled with various creams, keep up the good work

A great little spot for quality drinks and treats. There is a careful emphasis on natural, real ingredients and freshness. I can only tell you about the drinks, as the baked goods had sold out by 1 PM today. My boyfriend got an Americano, which he described as bright and sweet, with just a hint of bitterness. (It's also served scalding hot. Wait a while before consuming!) I got the Mediterranean Blue cold tea, which is a flower-based herbal tea steeped with all sorts of spices - I loved the hint of star anise, and even the licorice worked very well in this mix. If you like refreshing sweet drinks, try one of the fruit sodas. We got to try the cantaloupe soda, and it was like taking a bite out of the sweetest, juiciest cantaloupe you've ever had, every single sip.

Amazing coffee - has a unique, almost fruity taste. I normally don’t splurge on coffees, but I can’t pass up on a cappuccino whenever I’m in the area. Croissants are fantastic, I tried their fig and cheese croissant recently - delicious. And their doughnuts are unbeatable! If you are near, I highly recommend a coffee and treat from L’amour.

First you were suppose to open on a specific date as per your window, I show up and to which you did not open that day, called and was told it’s now August 16, that date did not happen as well. Finally opened a couple weeks ago, go in at 11:30a - only a couple leftover donuts - nothing else. Like get your stuff in order cause there’s many bakeries within walking distance along Mt. Pleasant that make their stuff on site, can know how to make coffee drinks and have line ups daily. If you can’t handle a couple of nearby guest, how are you going to handle the school rush? Food for thought.

Love this oasis on Mount Pleasant Road! Fantastic coffee...and rightly priced compared to 10Dean that's way overpriced for example. Their pastries are always fresh and quite a feast for the eyes! It's owned by a lovely and warm couple and their head barista is so friendly and nice to talk to, like an old friend lol I love coming here to work at times and their outdoor seating is a cozy hangout spot!

Had high hopes for this place and it was shocking! We ordered 5 different things, croissants, coffee, sweet treats. It was all stale and dry! It was most definitely left over from the day before! Coffee was not very nice, I’d take pilot any day of the week over this stuff! If you’re going to sell day old croissants then just tell me and give a discount but to sell stale products at those prices! Won’t be going back based on that experience.

I walked by the window looking for lunch at 2pm and didn't notice food just saw delicious looking pastry. I walked back and came inside to ask and saw a delicious looking sandwich. I don't normally order sandwich at restaurants but the bread was fresh made and all the ingredients were amazing! I would recommend this place to Everyone! The Cappuccino was amazing as well.

Lovely little cafe on Mt. Pleasant. Lots of pastries to choose from but I wish they would label their products instead of having the customer ask what flavor it is. They have croissants, danishes, donuts filled with cream. I got the pistachio croissant and mango passionfruit cream donut. I would come back to try more.

Delicious busy but quiet & cozy gem in midtown. Great variety of treats including the most indulgent croissants (Nutella?! Yes please!), sandwiches, quiche and more all baked fresh on-site. Highly recommend!! Go early - or mid week - to guarantee greatest selection. Secret is almost out and their goods go fast, especially on the weekend.

Okay drinks. The matcha they use isn’t real matcha, as I asked to see the package. Coffee drinks are your normal standard, nothing blows your mind. The ambiance is nice tho. One thing that kinda concerns me is how they just leave the pastries out in the open. Does that not bother anyone? Dust, flies, and fluid droplets can easily contaminate. For hygiene purposes, they really need to cover the pastries up. Also just for freshness reason too

  • Angie h

They don’t know how to make a cappuccino or flat white and they have no mugs “for here”. Pastry are tasty but they don’t bake them themselves, lots of items from forno cultura. The atmosphere and music is nice but coffee is terrible. Was $19 for 2 coffees & 2 pastries. I won’t be back again.

We stopped in to try it and now its our go-to cafe. The fruit tarts and avacado/egg croissant are incredible!! The staff is so friendly. And tax is included in the prices listed so you know exactly what your paying.. which is very affordable comparred to other cafes/bakeries around. 5/5

I've been here a few times and both the pastries and donuts are delicious. The cream seems to be made from real fruit. So you can feel the moderate sweetness of the fruit rather than the artificial sweetness. And I always drink matcha latte. This place used green tea powder, making it richer and more delicious! I'm looking forward to other drinks as well:)

A cute small cafe, I thought service would be friendly but no one makes eye contact or greets you when you walk in. I waited a long time for the people in front to get their order when I just wanted to get a pastry. I came back a couple times but the consistent unfriendly service really put me off.

L’amour is a wonderful spot to enjoy great pastries and chat with the super friendly staff. My daughter and I recently enjoyed croissants and we’re happy to report that they were fresh and filled with perfectly not too sweet filling! We will be back to try the rest of their delicious menu!

Had more yummy looking pastries laid out than I have the opportunity to sample. Croissants to muffins to quiche. Latte was well done as well and they had oat milk for a dairy free coffee creamer option.

One of my favourite cafes in the midtown. Staffs are funny and really friendly! The pastries are very fresh and delicious. I really like their coffee syrup, it just tastes different compared to the ones I tried at other cafes. I recommend their mango danish, raspberry croissant, chocolate almond croissant, and quiches. Cute place, pastries were ok, Kouign Amann was dry and had no caramelized sugar crunch, almond croissant was better. Will return to try their other baked goods.
