it is a nice cool place for shopping alot of different products and items which we need and use (and some even on a daily basis)... the items they sell are pretty much of good quality, the staff on the floor helps and guides you and answers your questions to much of their knowledge and that's satisfying for me... but the problem I met up with and encountered after going around the shop and collecting all the items I needed into my trolley , was when I was at the tillpoint and had to pay for them... to my surprise the cashier told me the rules of the store is that I cannot buy the products/items without producing a Makro card first and unfortunately for me I did not have one... she showed me where and what I needed to produce to get one, but in my head I was like I really don't need one & realised how much of a waste of time i had wasted at that shop only for them to reject my money because of a damn stupid Makro card that I did not have... well unfortunately for them they lost out on making some pretty decent money that day from me and have now lost a potential regular customer because I will not be part of their stupid card carrying CULT member!!! I guess China shops will have to do now if here in South Africa they no longer need our money but need us to go around holding their shop cards for us to buy at their shops... We still got Spaza's too to buy our groceries from cause I foresee all these shops like Shorprite and Spar following suit as well in the near future... I wonder what it is about the issuing of these stupid cards to buy products, so money is not that important anymore, they rather say keep your money if you don't produce a Makro card first mm... something is coming in this world of economics and trade that we customers are oblivious too at this current moment!!! infact why am I even considering giving them 3 ⭐⭐⭐ review when they rejected my money after spending close to an hour inside their shop ... they deserve less cause I came out with nothing

Poor service and unhelpful and rude Staff. I tried purchasing an Alva patio heater, they only had the display item left so I offered to buy that. I have bought display items before and they have always been at a significant discount. However the salesman was quite insistent that any discount wasn't possible and quite rude about it. Went to speak to customer service, they called the manager then the same salesman I spoke to. It took quite a while for all this to happen. They then said the salesman is the only one who can speak to purchasing and get a discount. I asked to speak to the floor manager and they told me he is not on the location which makes no sense as that's the whole point of a floor manager. Every other time I bought a display item was never this complicated. Ended up calling Cornubia Makro and they approved a further discount over the phone. Came to the branch, manager was there and helpful. Ended up saving about R700 which is worth the extra drive. The service and staff in Cornubia in general was a lot more helpful, they even had the same issue where the buyer said they can't load a further discount since it was previously on promotion but the floor manager phones and smoothed that up which proves this branch could have if they cared to let me speak to any manager or tried to help me.

Makro Online service has no structure, Online shopping should be a convenience and this is not at all. order confirmed 26th april , tried to deliver 8th may I pay'd for my goods which I ordered a week and a 1/2 before a big race event, The order was for race food, energy bars, nuts, rehidrate ect for a 12 day cycle even i was set to go on. Makro said a 3-5 day delivery schedule which would be well before the time I leave, in the next 2 days 2 items were no longer available for my order and I was said to be credited , The delivery date was then further extended a day before delivery and I accepted their extension. they then further requested an extension but this was a Friday and required the goods for the weekend for my 2 week journey. I phoned in to cancel my order and explained the situation, they STILL arrived on Tuesday the following week to deliver my goods but I was already on my 2 weeks adventure, i bought my stuff elsewhere that Friday, Absolutely no structure. Complete failure on all levels. The reviews speak for themselves #MAK4530876 I have been waiting for my refun since April 2023, it is now July 2023, No amount of emails nor phone calls can resolve the issue. Nobody responds, nobody updates you. Extremely Disappointing service,

What's sad is last week I gave you 5 stars, but today because of your un trained stuff I feel like changing it to less than one. I bought the charcoal/ briquettes which says any 3 for R100. The discount didn't go through at bulk tills so I pointed it out to the cashier who then refused to call for any help and said if I want I. Must go get the sign and show her. I got the sign then the supervisor and cashier stood there for what felt like forever trying to telle that any 3 ment any 3 of the same kind. I have been shopping with makro all my life between 30 to 40years. Please correct me if I am wrong,.. But When I see a sign that states 'any' fixed quantity of the items,.. its means any mixed however I like... It's extremely frustrating dealing with your staff who choose to argue with and old customers instead of asking for assistance from someone who actually knows their job.

Setup is very familiar, it follows the "standard" Makro super Store setup. The aisles do have information markers that make it possible to do quicker, more focused shopping. Assuming you don't want to mosey around and be tempted by the wide range of goods. The staff can generally be categorised as shelf Packers, rather than shop assistants, except in specialised areas such as electronics and fitness and health. In saying this most are quite willing to help point you in the right direction if needed. Parking is plentiful and the car guards generally pleasant. Prices are often better than in the standard chains, but the advice remains, shop around, there may be something better closer. Makro delivers what it promises to deliver, bulk shopping at a fair price.

I placed an order on 24 November and up till now I haven't received it. The last I've received any communication was on 27 November, to say that my order was packed and waiting for it to be picked up by the courier. I've called so many times and I was told that they would escalate the matter. I was told this twice and on Saturday I phoned and a lady from the online department at the Amanzimtoti branch told me that my order was picked up on Friday and will be delivered on Monday. Yesterday I phoned the call center and I was told that my order was still at the store! I don't appreciate being lied to considering that my order was for a large amount and I am waiting for so long.

Went to buy food and house hold goods today 10/02/2023, prearranged during week card active, on entering store male customer care confermed balance, filled trolley, proceeded to pay and at till 2 swipes declined, went to customer care she said off line problem keep swiping to go through, swiped once more till lady called superior who went with me to in-store customer care and told her to call head office custom care to sort out the card problem who did not even try said point blank she can't off line, the supervisor said the till piont are all going through, traveled from Margate to amanzintoti for there specials.

Nice environment to shop in. Effective and efficient workers. Aisles well laid out. Friendly staff. The only problem observed now is the amount of sales guys and girls running around the store, wanting to sell funeral covers and makro credit cards. Their presence is too overwhelming on customers.No social distancing, they invade your personal space in the store. They need to be orientated about all Covid 19 precautionary measures. It's not about mask wearing alone. They have to maintain social distancing when interacting with potential clients. Please, this needs to be addressed fast.

I hate going there. Today I went to the tech area. There was a tillpoint island and inside were three makro ladies were having a conversation. I didn't expect them to drop what they were laughing about right there and then, but after a minute or two I said to my wife that we should leave as we were not going to be served. Not one apologised or attempted to help us. They just turned their backs on us and continued their conversation. I suspect we were chopped liver to them. We're never going back, especially since this was not the first time this kind of thing happened.

I liked the fact that one of the employees went to get a trolley for us when we decided to purchase 10 plastic chairs. The cashier was also incredibly helpful in helping pack the chairs onto the trolly after several were unpacked to try and find a barcode to scan. The staff are in general helpful and assist you with whatever you need - from finding items in the large store ,to loading them and getting them through the till. And the bonus - even the car guard helped us pack the chairs into our small car which took a little muscle and humour.

I purchased an Air frier online on Saturday 06 August. Everything went absolutely swimmingly fine until it was collected by the courier company Dawn Wing. Having had a previous catastrophe with them, my heart sunk!!! True to previous experience, my Air frier disappeared!! Down the same rabbit hole my previous order transported by them? I contacted Makro to follow up and was given care and superb service from Natasha Abrams. Natasha, thank you for expediently resolving this issue, you certainly are an asset to Makro ‘Toti!!!

I paid for my online order on the 9th Nov 21,until now,I haven't received my order..been calling since the 7th day of not receiving it,no one is helping,they all will tell to hold the line they checking,or they'll get back to me..this is so unprofessional,I call everyday..even now the lady said she'll follow up with courier,and get back to..but I know they won't,I asked for the manager and was told to hold!! I'm so disappointed aaaaah I'm mad as he'll!!

As always.......a pleasure to shop at Makro. Sufficient parking and car guards that are helpful and attentive. Makro is always fully stocked and the specials are great. If there is a product that is not available and you request it, the staff member calls you on your cell and informs you when it is available. Realistic returns are a breeze. The staff are awesome, friendly and very helpful. Thanks Makro Arbour Crossing for being such an awesome store.

Rating in particular for the salespeople. Not the store this branch is brilliant clean tidy convenient well set up and looks the part. Salespeople are lazy busy chatting in groups had to walk up and ask for assistance regarding a tv. Thereafter a kitchen salesman Armstrong in particular was untidly dressed half his shirt in his pants other half out top buttons open. I managed to buy my oven but was rushed through it nevertheless got what I wanted.

I want to thank a store manager and Security personnel who found my lost phone. My wife forgot her phone at Gym section in the store and the manager took it to security officers at the store and when I came just looking for it, they told me they found it exactly where she forgot it. They did security check to ascertain if it really belongs to my wife then handed it over to me. I thank you guys for Ubuntu you shown me. God bless you

Very long queue to enter at 9h00, inside the store was ok, though very short staffed. Queue to pay was even longer, but bearable. But, at the till i pulled my mask lower to speak to the manager Liezel, she was rude, stating i will not speak to you until you put your mask back on, put your mask back on, put your mask back on. She was more than 1.5metre from me. I don't mind her telling me that, but barking it??? So not on!!

Was good... had to wait for a long time for the attendant to look for yhe case of brandy that I wanted, only to find out in the end that there was none in stock. However I was super impressed with his energy and efforts in trying to find the stock. He was also very respectful and kept reassuring me everything he past by me in his effort to find my buffelfontien brandy. He was good . Thank himagain for me.

I am devasted by how I was treated at this Makro. I've gone to the staff a day before regarding a product I wanted to return which the one staff member told me I would be able to be refunded. Only to be told once I brought the product in that they refuse to refund me. I have been a Makro customer for years but it brought me sorrow that customer service has declined so much. Very busy but queue management was good. The cashier was very pleasant and helpful by doing the packing himself. Reasonably good specials. One doesn't often see the butcher at these large stores, Makro Toti butcher on the floor talking to his potential buyers. A very pleasant young man and very helpful. Prices are reasonable and the meat looks fresh and well presented. Recommend a visit

Clean friendly store. Usually do my monthly shopping here. The store has almost anything you might need for a home or small business. Only thing I dislike it the queue's . Really think with all the technology around now days, there should be a quick and easy way to check out all you buy. Really think all Major stores need to invest in a better check out system.

Worst retailer to shop @, staff always have issues with customers to the point where staff hate their customers and they are not afraid to show it, i walked in happy and walked out angry and miserable. *2018/05/05* Cashiers Prefer to have full in conversations with each other instead of paying attention to the customers. Express queue takes longer then the standard queue. Staff is standing there not emphasize social distancing to customers. At food aisle staff is not keeping social distancing. As customers I felt we not safe. At the till lines, staff is not vigilant enough as customers we do what we want not even keeping safe distancing. I was at the store twice today within 4hours still no improvement

Makro is great as always, but getting swarmed by 5 to 6 sales people trying to sell you a microwave oven that I didn't even want to buy is a bit much, it is very intimidating. Staff could use some better training in this regard. Won't be visiting this particular Makro again. Unfortunately I went to Game instead and got a great deal.

This is a Big Makro store. Lots of parking. Busy store but lots of Till points. Fresh produce and meat at this Makro, really nice stock and isles seems wider, plenty staff to assist. This is a newer store and really kept in pristine condition. A pleasure to shop here and their trolley s are in excellent condition Highly recommended

Don't bother using their online collections department. It took me almost 40 mins to collect my item yet I was second in the queue. Not sure what all the staff do there, but assisting customers ain't one of them. Rather disappointing. I should have rather just bought the item from Takealot and have it delivered to my door...

Tried to call the store to get a friend to pick up my online purchase. The store no also goes to call centre. The call centre automated call tells you about when her grandmother was she born when she died how many children she had etc. I needed to give my friend a answer quickly. That was extremely frustrating.

Love the extra space, lots of covid regulations followed and added safety of sanitisers at all till points. Tellers are always sanitizing as well and a good system to ensure store isn't crowded. Lots of awesome specials and no out of stock dramas. Thanks for the awesome safe and friendly service.

Bought a MI 4K stick from them less than 1 month ago. It started over heating and rebooting. I then took it back to get a refund as it does have a 12 month warrantee and they tell me they have to book it in. Less than 1 month and they won't give a refund. Ridiculous procedures in my opinion.

couldn't try on clothing.was told to take it home and try it on and bring it back .that is ludicrous. so taking items from a sanitized shop and then returning it because it doesnt fit is a massive concern of bringing the virus back to the store after contamination. makes no sence at all.

It's a Makro, big and quite busy. Lots of parking which is always a good thing. Just wish the Makro group would come up with a better system for the till slip checking at the exits, it's always crowded and chaotic. The new card payment isle/till works great to move the queue, nice idea.
