I ordered over $30 of take out. Flake, potato cakes chips and chicken and hamburger both with the lot. I was running a bit late due to unforseen circumstances and did the right thing and turned up to collect my order. When I came home the bread was soggy. Lettuce in burgers looked like it had defiently reached expire date. The fried food was wet from the moisture in the wrapped bag. So I rang to ask why they didn't let some air into the wrapped fried food when they could see I was running late or let the burgers get some air. I was passed onto a different person they said they where the manager. I expressed my concern and disappointment in the quality of the food and he said it was my fault. He also told me he couldn't be bothered dealing with me.. extremely upset. I don't believe I spoke with the manager. I asked for the owner and he then said he was. I defiently will not be going back there again especially when I did the right thing. If you work in hospitality you should know that food needs some air so it stays somewhat fresh and doesn't become a wet mess.

Bugsy's take away was rated one of the best takeaways south of Hobart , As locals that always purchase from this shop..we are very angry and disappointed in it now. Since undergoing new ownership ..for quite a few months they have always got our orders wrong and think they can make up over $15 dollars worth that we payed for with a few extra chips or a potato cake or 2 We spent $60 to $70 each order to feed a family of 6 and never get what was ordered in the first place..not to mention that the fish is burnt..I want to post photos of our food but don't know how! As locals that have used this shop all our lives for many many years we are so dissapointed after months of constantly having to go back and complain.We will now never return ..The prices have escalated and the quality has decreased..this is very is very sad for the margate community

Have never eaten the worst fish and chips, literally terrible. Every piece of fish was very tick battered, obviously cooked in animal faty oil, whatever I'm given very darkish brown colour. In the beginning I thought at least we could eat chips but no way, no more than couple of pieces. Even that's been enough to make my wife vomity. All package ended up in the rubbish bin. Not recommend anyone to go there. Wasting time, wasting money. Terrible shop, i don't think they observe food and safety rools apart from putting face mask which is mandatory.

Shocked and disgusted at the treatment provided by staff shouting abuse at an elderly gentleman, who had only enquired why the staff were not wearing the compulsory masks during the recent covid lockdown. They chased him out the shop to his car and his terrified immune compromised wife. This is both disrespectful and careless, not the service expected when looking out for the care and wellbeing of others in the community

This place used to be reliable and had great food, now its terrible. Chips were soggy, slightly warm and got nothing for what we paid unlike what we used to get. We thought we would give them another chance this wk and chips were like cardboard, so chewy like they'd defrosted them in a microwave and no salt wven though we asked. Fish was good but we wont ever come back and we r not the only ones.

Had fish and chips from here tonight as we have done in the past. They have reach an all time low the fish was a 3mm sliver of flake encased in 3-4 mm of batter all round, tough on the outside and soggy on the inside yuck! resorted to peeling the batter off, can't recall ever doing this with battered fish before. Don't think we'll be having f/c from here again, and the price has gone up....

Some of the most revolting and dissapointing fish and chips i have had in a long time. Chips were soggy and oily and gross, and the fish was super soggy, encased in batter that was so thick and mushy it made me feel ill. Ate 3 bites of fish and a handful of chips an couldn't eat anymore it was that foul. Really disappointing. Total waste of money.

Stopped in tonight for hamburgers and some fish and chips, very disappointed that the hamburger patties are frozen and not fresh, the chips are the usual frozen kind nothing surprising there, and the fish was bland and tasteless, the batter was like a coating of cardboard, so disappointing as they are not far from the best seafood available.

Best salad rolls I have ever eaten. Such a variety, chock full of fresh salad and meats, at a very reasonable price. I do not go past there without buying one, but be quick as even by 12.30 lunch time they have almost sold out. Thanks to the owner and friendly staff members for a great affordable, healthy on the run meal

Had a piece of battered blue grenadier had a few bites and seen something black between the batter and fish itself, closer look it. Was a black fly!! Won't be back.

This used to be the best takeaway! We used to come to Margate especially for the awesome chips. Unfortunately the last couple of times we have been it was disgusting. Never again. Chips are soggy and so greasy. Tastes and smells like the oil needs a change. Sorry bugsy's but you have lost our custom.

@Josh MacDonald - Mate you clearly haven't tried their crispy chicken or their burgers. Place is great new owners are friendly and welcoming new menu items are amazing. Try the chicken at least or go at look at the Bain Marie at lunch time. It's packed with the tastiest looking food I ever have seen.

Freindly enough staff but takeaway is rubbish chips tasted like they were heated in a microwave rubbery and tastless, no salt even after asking for chicken salt thought i'd give them a second go after 2 months but just dissapointed can't recommend even though its my local sorry lads

Best chips I've had in years and the chicken strips are amazing! So glad we've got leftovers for tea. We were served by the loveliest lady, so friendly....well done on all counts guys....great food and service. Definitely our first stop whenever we're down this way.

Used to absolutely love!! Always would stop by every couple of weeks for there chicken salad rolls!! Was sad to see they don't make the original salad rolls now, So had to get a new one just wasn't th the same I'm sorry to say hope they bring them back

Not just a take away shop but also a supermarket. They stovk everythung you could need. Saving you a linger trip to kingston for closest woolworths/coles. Food is very well priced and taste amazing and the staff are very friendly and service is always good

It's a supermarket, nothing special. One day, I may actually find a supermarket where I can say something special or that has a unique or quirky product. Be sure to keep your eyes on here just in case. (I will be surprised too if it happens) …

Fantastic takeaway shop one of those places you send all your friends, heaps of meal options, very reasonable prices and great value for your money . From the two times we have visited the food has been fantastic and really tasty

Had chips from here. Been a long time. Roughly $10 and some extras fed 2 adults and 3 small kids, and I am still very happy with the quality of these chips. Easy to deal with and no fuss

If you are after Burgers or something fried this is a great choice! They also carry a good selection/range of groceries and some local produce. Great staff and they take phone orders.

Best fish and chips around. Always busy which is a good tell tale sign of quality and service. A reasonable selection a groceries, fruit and veg and meat as well as other essentials.

Nice chips but the fish was shocking. I've had crispier leather compared to this batter! Chewy, tough and the fish inside wasn't much better.

Amazing service & kind staff. Pretty expensive but it is family owned. You get extra food sometimes if your a kind regular. 10/10 recommend.
