Absolutely appalling treatment!! I was told I had cancer and would need surgery and depending on the outcome, further treatment. I went for a follow-up appointment 2 weeks later to be told that I didn't have cancer. As I had had cancer twice before I was concerned to say the least! During that 2 weeks we told everyone the diagnosis which upset everyone terribly. Surviving cancer for the 3rd time seemed impossible. My kids (10yo & 14yo) needed counseling and I was considering ways to end my life so my friends and family didn't have to suffer watching me die. The specialist said she hadn't had a lunch break in 3 1/2 months even though she was running an hour late. Her shift at another hospital 20 minutes drive away finished at 1pm. The same time of my appointment at a different hospital. When I was called in she apologised for the wait and told me to 'blame the system'. The specialist 2 weeks prior said ' yes, cancer' she is who I've given the 1 star to. She was caring, gentle, compassionate and overall just brilliant. The second appointment when I went in I was told 'you don't have cancer' and they i could go home. They didn't need to see me again. In complete shock I went home and booked an appointment with my GP a week later. When I got there, he had heard nothing from the hospital at all! No emails, no reports, no calls, absolutely nothing!! Needless to say he booked me in asap for a second opinion with a private specialist. I'm just so pleased that I have a fantastic doctor who knows how to practice in a competent way and knows about duty of care. **Edit** Turned out that the first doctor I saw was correct. The cancer had returned resulting in an urgent full hysterectomy. Thankfully I'm still around. Absolutely disgusting Modbury hospital. Obviously you think it's ok to play with people's lives like this. You could've so easily left my children to grow up without their mother all due to negligence and the pressure you put on your staff. I didn't have the energy to fight but I hope someone else has and is suing your arses. On a previous visit, a few monrhs prior, I presented to the ED unable to swallow. I was told in was reflux (without any tests) given mylanta and shoved outside onto the sidewalk to wait for a cab that I had to call myself at 2am in the morning! After visiting a private GI Clinic I was given an endoscopy which showed eosophigal asthma and scarring. I would rather die than ever have to go back to that poor excuse for a hospital EVER again!

Modbury Hospital restored my faith in the healthcare system. It may not be new and shiny, but the staff have hearts of gold. After suffering a stroke with severe aphasia, my husband was transferred from RAH to Modbury Hospital for rehabilitation. The level of care and compassion shown to us both was astonishing. I say ‘astonishing’ because we had been through some very negative experiences in the private healthcare system. The allied healthcare team were truly collaborative. They worked together with my husband and I at all times, and answered my barrage of questions without a hint of condescension or impatience. The nurses were professional, hardworking and kind. They went out of their way to comfort me when they sensed that I was feeling low (despite the fact that I wasn’t their patient!) and made an effort to exchange light-hearted banter with all of the patients. I will never forget the kindness of Pratiksha in particular, a true gem of a human being. Natalie, (Nurse) Tiffany, Gary, and all those nurses whose names I didn’t catch – thank you, each and every one of you. The speech therapists – Jessica and Sarah – were amazing, and I am sure that they made a significant impact on the rate of my husband’s recovery. The gains he made in the last week, especially, seemed nothing short of miraculous to me. Tiffany, the occupational therapist, was upbeat, very helpful and 'gently honest', which I deeply appreciated. Lena, the social worker, was warm and empathetic and a paragon of organisation. The doctors – where do I begin… Doctors Farima, Arizu and Amber. I thank ‘God’ for you. Mat, the brilliant pharmacist, taught me more about my husband’s medications in 15 minutes of conversation than I have gleaned in the past 6 years of specialists’ appointments (my husband and I had lived and worked overseas for decades before returning to Australia). Even the housekeeping staff who delivered the meals were cheerful. Little things make a big difference when you feel like your world has come crashing down… To all Modbury Hospital staff in 3E – thank you from the bottom of my heart. My husband and I are indebted to you for life. Whenever I paid you a compliment, you would invariably say ‘I’m just doing my job’. Believe me, you did so much more than that.

really poor service on the emergency departments behalf! i went to modbury because their dashboard wait time said roughly an hour and 45 mins and i was in severe pain from a sporting injury which left me with an ankle i was unable to put any pressure on - including ice. it took 3 hours for me to receive a x-ray referral form and another 4 to even be assessed afterwards - at that point the doctors had no clue i had already been for an x-ray and we’re going to make me go again. whilst waiting there were multiple staff doing absolutely nothing and taking their time with getting to patients, i would’ve expected more considering it was an emergency department. i was left without any pain relief despite clearly being in distress and in agony and beds were given to those who did not need one and i felt neglected by the system. i was seen at 3:45am (finally after arriving at 8:30pm) and was only then given pain relief. i was forced to stand to weigh myself despite me saying that i was in immense pain and could already provide doctors with my weight as i knew it beforehand. when getting an x-ray i was provided with no assistance at all and was forced to get on and off the bed by myself and back into my wheelchair - the hospital left me feeling like i was just a huge hassle. i ended up leaving after i became too tired to wait and was extremely hungry yet was told i was not allowed to eat. i went to a doctor and within 45 mins my x-ray was properly examined and i was able to get a moonboot to assist me since modbury gave me crutches that were far too uncomfortable to use which i had already told them prior to going home. i will not be going back here and i recommend that anyone who has a sporting injury to go elsewhere as modbury will really only treat you if it is a broken bone, and if it isn’t you get sent home with a pair of crutches and no clue of the extent of your injury

I came to you in December after losing my ability to walk over 3 days. Turns out, I had a neurological disorder that needed immediate intervention and a lot of follow up care. Your head emergency surgeon told me my pain was "psychosomatic" and when I protested, saying that I couldn't walk, he told me that "we all have to deal with life's difficulties". Your lead physio told me "it's probably just DOMS" and that I "definitely did not need follow up care", explicitly ignoring my doctor's diagnosis of a neurological disorder (and ignoring my neurological symptoms which you saw with your own eyes). Not only were both of you wrong, but your negligence has worsened my condition and delayed my recovery into rehab (I actually need to re-learn how to walk all over again, similar to if I'd had a stroke). I'm astounded that you're both senior staff. Not only that, but you sent me home vomiting and so nauseated that I could barely sit upright or breathe properly - a nurse wheeled me out and wished me "good luck". I had been vomiting for days. Over my 6 day stay, I was not once put on an IV drip and when I asked for my paper work you said no (This is illegal). I received my discharge papers from Modbury Hospital 3 months after I was discharged, and the neurologist I consulted privately outside your practice had to get them from you for me. No matter my experience in your hospital, I should never have left in WORSE condition than when I arrived. That's literally like, the exact opposite of what a hospital is for. If you're reading this, please just go to the RAH if you can because chances are, if your experience was like mine, you'll end up there anyway and receive the actual care you needed all along. It's July at the time of writing and my first day of rehab is the 31st.

Just brought my Mum into the hospital as she's badly hurt her leg. She cannot weight bare at all and is in agony. I am a single mother to a nearly 2 year old. I had to park the car, leave my Mum and baby in the car to get a wheelchair. The security lady told me to take the chair that was at the entrance. I told her and the nurse I didn't know how I'd go pushing my Mum in the wheelchair as well as carry my 2 year old across the car park. They were not helpful at all. I spoke to the MSS Security guy in the car park about getting some help and he said he would speak to someone. The same nurse at the entrance came out and made comments from the time she got to us until the time I was told to leave. She told me she is not meant to leave her post, she told my Mum she was heavy to push (my Mum isn't even big), we got up the ramp and she said she should leave my Mum there. When we got to the entrance there was 3 nurses so not sure why being helpful is their last priority when there was no line up for screening yet 3 nurses there not doing anything but telling me I cannot come in with my baby. I am a single Mother with only my Mum (who's injured) to help me. Then the nurse who was making the comments asked me if my baby could walk, I said yes. I guess she was implying my baby could have walked while I pushed the wheelchair. There is no way I would let my daughter who's not yet 2 walk through a car park... I'm guessing the nurse doesn't have children. I am appalled by her lack of customer service skills, absolutely disgraceful attitude! Not to mention now my poor Mother has to wait in agony alone!

Always ask about the wait times in hospital when checking in. Don’t trust the SA health dashboard. Even at 4:30 when It was reported to be a 3.5hour wait it was actually 8 hours. Some people had been there for 10. Absolute shocking service this afternoon / tonight. Something needs to be done in the emergency department. Nurses who couldn’t work an ECG machine, lost paperwork, miscommunication between staff. Rude staff members. Unprofessional security guards. That so called quiet room is used for RAT testing now when it’s purpose is supposed to be for mother’s with babies, children and people with sensory issues / anxiety. So when a situation unfolds tonight they aren’t impacted by the situation and leave due to stress- 3 patients walked out because you couldn’t contain the situation and tried to handle it without police. Many other names where called during my wait and they had walked out before being treated. That should be considered a red flag. I’m just gonna push my luck and see a doctor tomorrow my so called chest pain can’t be that bad if you let me me sit there for 5 hours, put me under more stress because of the situation when I asked multiple times to kick him out before it got out of hand. Then didn’t think to have a nurse check on me when I needed to be moved away despite knowing my mental health history. I think ramping is impacted by poorly run emergency departments. It’s much easier calling an ambulance just to get seen faster even when its for something minor. I know it’s something I’ll be investing in and doing next time. (June 2022)

Horrible experience waiting for 8+ hours to see someone. Terrible hospital system that we all expect. However, what's worse is the 0 care factor from nurses, especially in the triage. Could hear casual conversations, laughing giggling, no work related conversations going on. All happening while patients waiting in the room were in major pain and/or discomfort. No check ups with patients who were waiting, showed 0 concern towards anyone but themselves. Understand that the doctor wait times are long (even so, that is riduculous), but this wouldn't stop a nurse from showing some concern for patients if they were a good nurse. Why wouldn't the nurses follow up or check on the patients who were waiting???only times the patients were spoken to was when the blood readings became necessary. Simple gestures to show some concern would be appreciated? Asking how things are going while walking past, asking for drinks etc. Was only asked if I wanted a drink once in the whole 8 hours I was waiting with my family. There is no service from these people. Could overhear nurses telling someone with a leg injury to walk instead of using a wheelchair. Patients being told they were fine and their injuries were not that serious because they were sleeping whilst waiting for a Dr.... Absolutely Unbelievable...

The emergency department doesn't even deserve 1 star. You need to avoid this hospital at all cost. Only people in emergency department (waiting area). Was told to leave and go to Medical Clinic. Didn't bother even to check history of the person requesting help: Diabetic type 1, had Covid 19 five weeks ago, suffering from Covid 19 symptom (i.e. no smell or taste), high blood pressure. Came in for an allergic reaction. Head to toe skin red and raw. No one bothered to ask anything. Go somewhere else. Or, it seemed the other medical centre (priority care clinic) had all my brother's details. No consent was provided by my brother to release his data. A nurse/doctor (I don't know she didn't identify herself) gave my brother a piece of paper and said they will see you straight away. Was told that they belong under the same brand as Modbury Hospital. Hmmm, PII data was released without permission. Unprofessional. Would never step in that hospital ever again. PS Loved the first young woman we spoke to. When she left the area she said in a very loud voice "it's a rash"' - clearly the GP referral stated allergic reaction. My brother said rash because he hadn't slept properly in 5 days but then it might be his fault for not being so clear. Shocking unprofessional behaviour.

Good thing the emergency department saved my wife from a serious illness. She had to wait approximately 5hrs to go inside for care. The priority system flagged her as a non critical patient. But it was a serious situation for her.. she had stomach burn, pain. Nausia and vomiting for more than 15 hours. She couldn't take any food, water or even medicine...what ever she swallowed vomiting immediately. She needed immediately medication through vein. Anyway after a while she got that treatment and felt better and released after couple of hours. Then she had to go to regular gp and still having difficulty after 4 days though not that extent. The emergency doctor prescription was not complete, had to add medication from gp. Already two appointments with gp after the emergency and still she is not ok. The nurse at the desk did hear my concern and tried to put her bit early in the queue. The nurse took lovely care and the doctor also tried their best but patients are suffering for waiting. Even in third world countries people do not need to wait so long for this type of emergency. Still cause of illness unknown and we are trying to figure it out through another long process through gp and referral process.

Me & My Husband came to Emergency Modbury Hospital 14.25, we leave ED 21.23, seeing doctor only 10 mins. We was waiting almost 7 hours and seen only 10 people waiting there in ED including my husband. My husband had really painfull fissure already 1 month and been twice to GP but no luck he keep in pain. 7 hours waiting in ED, seriously ridiculous! What for the name "EMERGENCY"? There is NO in this world Emergency patients allowed to wait 7hrs. And i just read the reviews about this hospital people are waiting for 8, 10, 12, even 15 hours for broken leg. Even sooo many people wrote the same review still looks like not gonna improve. And i thought doctor will do something like cleaning it /sterilization and put cream or something to make him comfortable at least for awhile but nothing, just give prescription. after 7 hours waiting in pain and still have to find the cream at night, we finished already 9.23PM, he leave still with pain! "Emergency Modbury Hospital" = waiting for 7 hours & leave with pain even pain become more worst after 7 hours of waiting. Really dissapointed.

The hospital system gave an elderly blind friend covid. After recovery she was sent home. She then caught a cold and had trouble breathing. She was taken to Modbury. While there she developed a urinary tract infection (UTI). UTIs are known to affect the mental state of the elderly, but they recover. While recovering the social workers applied to SACAT to force her into a nursing home against her will. The social workers had no interest in what she wanted. She wasn't allowed to speak at the hearing because the doctors claimed she was too sick to speak for herself. She appealed and wasn't contacted. Her appeal was denied without her being present. She is now under control of the public trustee and has no say in anything. She is trapped in a nursing home and doesn't want to live her life anymore. The system doesn't care about the emotional or psychological wellbeing of their patients. While there every single possession she had was stolen by other patients, even her clothes.

Currently in the MH Emergency Department with my 80+ year old mum who suffers from spinal stenosis, diabetes and various other issues that impact her quality of life, and who is suffering huge discomfort and is in pain, unable to sit or stand for any length of time due to a dislodged pessary. We arrived at 9pm last night, it took 3 hours to get her a bed to lie on after standing for nearly all that time in the waiting room, because it hurt to sit. They wheeled her into the ER 2 hours after that and it is now 6.30am, and after 91/2hours waiting she has still not been seen by a doctor. Nor, after her initial hook up to the ops machine, has anyone been in to monitor her progress or even been in to see how she is doing. So disappointed in the complete lack of concern for a senior citizen needing care. Where is the duty of care or even just the very basic tenants of timely treatment?! Next time I will just be calling an ambulance.

My partner looked online before attending and was advised of a 45-60 minute wait after being sent straight from her GP as he advised he thought she had appendicitis. We waited 6 hours which she was only allowed 1 tablet of panadeine until the time she was able to see a doctor. After being asked multiple times over the 6 hours being advised they could not do anything more even after my partner initially eating her pain a 7 moving to an 8-9 no additional help was able to be provided Once seeing the doctor, they advised blood tests and a ultrasound were needed. The nurse who attempted to take blood was not able to take blood from 3 attempts and left her waiting on crucial blood tests. The ultrasound was advised of another potentially 6 hours of waiting before getting to my partner. This hospital is poorly run and terribly understaffed. If able to go straight to the Royal Adelaide this place sucks

It was my first time going to a hospital and I always new that our hospital were backed up and to be mindful of your injury weather or not it needed ED or GP. But after waiting 4 hours and hearing people before me complain to staff that they had been waiting for 8 hours with horrendous looking burn. I figured I would take my chances taking more pain killers then I was supposed to and get in for an x ray the next morning by my gp. And the poor staff there coping abuse for something they have no control over they were all tired and snappy but understandably they are being over worked and under staffed the poor people. The only ones suffering should be the patients. I don't have much knowledge on the political sides of why it is this bad but it's not good for a society little things like that is like taking Brick's out of our own house.

I read the reviews before posting this and a person would think that the 1 star reviews were related to a different hospital (looks as though the emergency dept is stretched to the limit) I went in for elective surgery and had to stay overnight in the High Dependency Unit. From booking in, to discharge I was treated very professionally from the staff and registrars that I came in contact with. The specialist doctors were too busy doing surgery. When I asked questions the staff gladly answered them and couldn't do enough for me, providing all the information I needed (in writing; without asking) on discharge. From past extremely poor experiences in other interstate hospitals, my experience at Modbury hospital was excellent & exceptional, keep up the good work. A big thank you to all the staff at the High Dependency Unit.

I came into hospital with chest pains and heart pains and was given Panadol and told to go Home. The ‘Chief Medical Officer’ was very unprofessional using ‘mate’ every few words and wouldn’t even look at the lesions that appeared on my arm saying to me, “that’s not what we’re here for’”. No urine samples were taken and only the most basic of blood tests was carried out. I had trouble breathing but he kept insisting I put my mask on in the cubicle, despite being tested on arrival and being negative and despite not even being asked whether or not I was vaccinated for COVID in the first place. I was very distraught and humiliated by his ‘treatment’. He didn’t even bother to take out the Cannula out of my arm and just ran off. Very useless. Might as well die at home

  • Debbie Van Gemeren

Went in for minor surgery which required an overnight stay. Surgery was performed @ 9am and I was in my room in the ward by 11,15, it was 2.30 pm before I was finally given something to eat- 4 plain cheese only sandwiches- even though I’m diabetic and had been fasting since 8pm the previous night. They withheld my tea time medication, even though I took my own in with me, then threatened to put me in ICU because my sugar levels were too high. They tried to give me their insulin the next morning which was 1/3rd the strength of mine, took nearly 90 minutes to write up paperwork to allow me to leave & then posted me a follow up appointment for what was supposed to be 4-6 weeks for late March 2022. I’m beyond upset and disgusted

  • Briget

My dad's second time at this hospital and it is woeful. Noone communicates with anyone about anything. The staff literally do not know how to use the phone system and are unable to transfer calls. Medical staff ask the same questions of patient's family repeatedly because they do not communicate with each other. Medical staff do not understand the role of allied health and other staff in their team, so decisions are made, not communicated and then alternatives not put in place. My dad went in on Thursday and today is Monday, but noone has tried to contact me to tell me his diagnosis, prognosis or when he may be able to go home or require more support, despite me trying to talk to people in person and via phone.

  • Aj

Admitted due to a drug interaction. Same thing happened 3yrs ago so I knew what I was suffering from. Drs would not listen and didn't even investigate the medication that was causing it. I was full of fear and horror internally and they just snubbed me off as having anxiety. It took them 5 hrs to give me any type of relaxation but because I was so wired it didn't help. Treatment for drug interaction is different. Talk about patient centred care, pfft. I was discharged and returned the next morning only to be told 8hrs later to go home and sleep. How the hell can u sleep when Ur body is shaking badly. Not impressed, Drs don't like being told what condition can be, they God, they want it to be their idea.

My mother was admitted to this hospital in an ambulance, her issues were not taken seriously, they almost thought she was lying about the issues. Pressed the button multiple times to get service but was mainly ignored for other people, I came to visit her and waited in a long queue just for them to not know where she was and they ASKED ME? what number the bed and area was ETC. they made me text her while she wasn’t well to ask her where she was. And then had to get back into the line. Only one receptionist was on and they barely understood me. She would have been better at home to be looked after and given food and water from us than this terrible hospital. They did nothing at all to help her

  • Gordy Kourdos

The worst hospital I have ever been to. As soon as you see the grumpy old lady working at Emergency Window 2 you start to feel unwelcome and unimportant. And then you have to wait 8 hours to be seen by a doctor. What kind of emergency department is this? It would take less time to make and appointment with your GP and get treated for emergencies than actually going to the emergency department. If I could give negative stars I would, it is absolutely appalling to see this kind of service in such an advanced country. The nurses are doing everything they can but clearly the hospital needs more doctors.

  • Anna Feirclough

Waiting 3 nearly 4 hours in emergency after my son was punched in the head and sustained a head injury left there in severe pain and he fell asleep. Then got told he must be ok cause he’s asleep what about if he has concussion. Not a single person has even bothered to look at him while he lies on a bed in emergency all I can say is our hospital system is a disaster. I almost died of a blood clot in my lung years back waiting in emergency. It was bad then but it’s gotten worst. Have no faith in our hospital system maybe if you have private health it would help but if you don’t I just wouldn’t bother

  • Darren Bishop

After presenting on Monday night via ambulance with stroke like symptoms, waited for hours only to be told then, that we’d be waiting hours more!! Approached the triage window and voiced my concerns only to be told that arriving by ambulance doesn’t prioritise your treatment!! Tuesday morning I saw my GP, he referred me to have a CT scan, that’s when a bleed on the brain was detected! Then, promptly rushed to the RAH, via ambulance, where I received the treatment and care I needed the night before!! The Doctors and nursing staff at the RAH were 1st rate, unlike the staff at Modbury!

  • Marie

The wheelchairs were shocking. The first wheelchair I had only had 1 working brake which was unsafe. The second was a pushchair (no user push-wheel) and the third had brakes that slowed the chair but didn't stop it. I had peri-urban care for the majority of my recovery and rehab and only came back to Modbury for a few days before going home. The staff were lovely but the equipment was terrible and I lost most of the independence that I had previously built up due to not having a safe wheelchair. It was a relief to go home and regain the independence that I had lost at Modbury.

I had the pleasure of dining at an amazing restaurant recently. From the moment I walked in, I was taken back by the cleanliness and the friendly staff. They had a great selection of vegan options, which made me very happy. The food was absolutely incredible – the flavors were spot on and the presentation was perfect. The waiters were very helpful and attentive. My food was made quickly and the staff made sure I was taken care of. When I left, they even said goodbye and thanked me for coming. This restaurant is definitely a must-visit if you're looking for a great experience!

  • Nicole Bell

My husband had a severe back injury at work so we attended in an ambulance, the nursing staff were nothing short of attentive, knowledgeable, caring and quick to respond to his pain and questions. The doctors on the other hand were dismissive of the severity of his pain and rather than do a full assessment then and there the doctor wants him to go to a GP that has none of the medical imagery provisions that the hospital has! 5 stars to the nursing staff, 1 star for the doctors. Plus they're renovating so it was as noisy as hell in ER.

Mum , Beryl Arnold moved from emergency to short and long stay before transfer to Lyell McEwen. Amazing doctors, consultants, trainee doctors, nurses behind the scene workers and even cleaners. Thankyou for your expertise, caring attention and follow through, conference meetings to keep the family in the loop on the short periods we had to go home . Even a ph call from a doctor at hm to update me. Love and best wishes to you all. Keep up the good work, we are truely appreciative that mum was in your care. Kind Regards Dawn Pearce

I had a great visit at this hospital. The receptionists were very helpful and provided excellent customer service. The doctors were professional and always greeted me with a smile. The nurses were also great, always going above and beyond to help even when they were busy. I was also impressed with the little touches like the warm blanket they provided when I was cold, or a cup of fresh water when I was thirsty. The security in the reception area was also very good. Overall, a great hospital with professional and caring staff.

  • Meredith O

Yes I know there is usually a wait at A&E, but I have to say that this is no fault of the staff. I have had a number of these visits with family members and every single time, once we are seen I cannot fault the treatment received. The latest was yesterday with my adult son who was pretty sick with an infection. Two visits to RAH and after 10 hours, only painkillers. Several hours at Modbury and blood test, eye test, iv antibiotics and a diagnosis. Night and day. Thank you Modbury staff. You are wonderful.

  • Misterbuster007

The worst hospital ED I’ve seen. Their system is broken. Waited 6 hours for a dislocated finger and was seen by nobody. The nurses just chit chatting and not providing any updates. I had to keep asking and apparently my name keeps going down the list of patients to be seen. I would have been there 10 hours and nowhere near for what supposed to be an easy fix. Best decision I made was to go to flinders medical and was done after just 1.5 hours. Staff not so friendly as well they are like robots.

  • Patrick Bartel

Got treated portly. Dr B.HOVINEEY didn't complete my script or give me the right paper work. Waited nearly 4 hours for the doctor to say I don't know the problem and they don't have ultrasound machines on weekends. Had a possible infection and no blood tests or anything were done. Received rudeness for not having 3 jabs and having a tattoo.... In 2022 we have to deal with this neglect. Looks like the reputation and neglect has not changed with this hospital in the last couple decade's.

  • Brian Porteous

Reception, very helpful to anyone that needs it, Excellent PR. Doctors good &, extremely Professional, always greet you & smile. Nurses always helpful even when there flat out with things to do. I was very impressed about the Hot blanket as I was cold. Security in reception top rated, excellent PR extremely Professional. Also I was only there a short time, as they offered me this new My Home Hospital. That was a blessing. I would rate Modbury Hospital 10 star's. Thankyou.

  • mrdilligaf1968

I had surgery at Modbury hospital and stayed overnight in the high dependency section. I've also stayed in a private hospital before and as a comparison I think both were very good. The staff were exceptional and went out of their way to help me and did so without any hesitation or waiting at Modbury hospital. A massive thank you for making my time there comfortable and very reassuring. I'd be happy and privileged if I had to go back there again in the future.

  • Janet’s Journey

Upgraded, clean. Staff are nice helpful at most times. Volunteers are always so nice and helpful with directions. Cafe on ground floor near main entrance stocks the essential gifts for last minute presents while visiting stay in patients. Patient Drop off zone at front of hospital for convenience. Several Disability Car park spots available within ticket parking facilities. Free for the first 2 hours is great, pay at auto station before exiting.

  • Md Moin

Very poor service. I was waiting for 5 hours in the emergency ward but still didn’t get any response and then when I went to ask them to check when I am getting the call to see the doctor they told me that I am waiting behind 18 people. I was having so much pain on my throat that I couldn’t even talk properly. Then I had no other choice rather than leaving the hospital. They should have enough doctors and well trained nurses. Very disappointed

I wasn't shocked when I saw the review on this hospital, I just said to this nurse that I'm in pain instead of taking me to take the ECG on me and questioning me every time to report it to the doctor why don't say that doctor come here and make sure about my issues and she said we have no enough doctors in here and she also said that next time I better go to another hospital to get better service. Unbelievably rude and zero dignity.

  • Nicole Pav

Kinda ok treatment as a patient. Nurses fail to listen about dressings, failed to give meds on time doctors doing a procedure without telling details of what's going to happen until right up to the minute of doing it and had me scared and anxious and left feeling violated. Wish communication was better here between staff and patients in regards to care and not feeling overwhelmed with healthcare journey thats ahead of me.

If I could rate less than 1 I will take that option. Was advised to visit hospital by emergency services over the call. Arrived in hospital emergency department at 3.30am with my sister having pain in her stomach and heart. The nurses provided panadol and we were asked to wait. It’s been 9AM now and still no one to check and see. What’s the point of having emergency department when the wait period is more than an hour??

  • Jack Phan

Terrible! They let the patient who is partially paralysed go to another hospital by himself with taxi. He was stroked and was at rehab schedules, he must go there by himself with the electrical wheels, without phone, and went back to Modbury hospital. The staffs didn’t even call family members to announce. Irresponsible! P/S: On the other hand, the doctors and specialists are good, thanks for caring our family member.

Hi dear friends just want to let you know I had big cut in stomach during moving removal work . I was bleeding and went to Modbury hospital the head nurse with tattoes started yelling at me and call the security to take me about did not stitch me . I had big injury and was continually bleeding and left from there’s . I will raise this matter further and never let to be racist with other non Australian community.

The worst hospital in AUSTRALIA. I arrived at the hospital (emergency department) 7:20 they made me wait for more than 3 hours without being attended to. I walked at the front to speak to the receptionist and ask why no one was coming to see me, she answered that “you problem is too small you have to wait for hours”. That exactly what happened then everyone that was there to see the doctors but I was LAST :(

  • Heather Purcell

The people at front door to check for covid check in were very welcoming and helped by adding my husband on my phone for check in. Then the friendly woman who took us to the lift and explained that the door would open the other side. Then the lady at desk of eye clinic was so friendly and the nurse and doctor so friendly and helpful.so just have praise for all the people who work at the hospital

  • Cassandra

Can't give 0 stars so 1 will have to suffice. I've been to the ED twice recently and both visits I have not been attended to, left waiting for hours with no update and then eventually been told that they don't have facilities or doctors avaliable. Would be great to hear this information on arrival instead of wasting half my day that I could have been seeking medical attention elsewhere.

  • Chelsea Metherell

Dr Dilan Seimon is one of the most amazing doctors I have ever come across. He was so thorough in his care of my mother, and genuinely took the time to listen to her and base his decision making around what she was saying and experiencing, rather than some doctors who think they know better and invalidate patients feelings. I am so grateful for this doctor, absolutely amazing!

  • Kiwi Aussie

My elderly mother was in GEM ward for about 5 weeks until her passing. We cannot give enough praise as to how the Doctors and nurses cared for her. They were caring, respectful and kind and although they are understaffed and run off their feet (like most hospitals) they always gave the time of day and never rushed her. Thank you to all for doing such a great job.

  • Sumit Verma

It’s not a hospital. It’s just time waster place. Even the nurse namely Sarah, she is in day shift at reception very rude behaviour. We visited around 8 o’clock in emergency in the morning and still 12 o’clock neither the doctor came nor the nurse asked us problem. They are patient killer hospital because they have no doctors just the source of making money

  • Amanda J

Hospitals are always getting a bad rap and all the negative stories of ramping but the service my son got on the 14/1 was exceptional. Seen quickly with what was thought to be severe tonsillitis with dehydration, not an emergency (was to him!) And still treated and on drip within a couple hours . Thank you for all your hard work Modbury hospital staff.

  • milly carter

if i could give this place zero stars i would, the amount of times i’ve had a bad experience here is not even funny. for example, a few years ago i broke my collarbone, and the male doctor who saw me refused to even look at it or do an x ray because “i would be crying”, i then went to another surgery who performed an x ray and indeed it was broken.

  • Kuldeep Dhillon

Very very horrible and bad experience in Modbury emergency department. I feel very helpless when I took my daughter for her head injury while playing. My daughter was crying and had bleeding from her head but staff don’t care. After waiting for 3 hours I just took my daughter to private hospital. Please don’t go there if you have any emergency.

  • Luke killin

6 hours sitting here in pain so far..... They haven't done anything as yet and I've watched several sick and injured people walk out when they really needed treatment. Six hours sitting here is standard here and you will be told to be patient...... The only reason I'm still waiting is because the doctors here are good and I need help.....

  • KEVIN O'BRIEN

Absolutely shocking hospital. My 82 year old dad, who suffers from dementia had a fall. Was bought in by ambulance. 5 hours waiting for tests, to then be told rather abruptly by a nurse in emergency named Harry that it's a public hospital and there is nothing they can do. Didn't even see a doctor after 6 hours. Absolutely disgraceful.

  • Lovedeep sran

I don’t want to give a one star even though. Literally wait there for 4 hours to visit a doctor and they keep saying 4 more patients before you i mean really we also have a emergency thats why we are sitting there for 4 hours not like other patients coming after me and get treated before me just because they have an emergency.

  • Tyren

Setting expectations is essential, especially with people experiencing medical issues. Arrived at approx. 5:40AM with 2 people in the waiting area, after near 2 hours, approached the desk to check in and advised "next person waiting has been here for 6 and a half hours, so probably still a few hours" is ridiculous.

  • Jac H

My Mum has just transferred from a private hospital. The dr nurses physio and other staff have been amazing...my mum started to regress while waiting in the private hospital but the staff at Modbury have encouraged her to keep getting better. Dr hughes has been amazing definately recommend the place .

  • Samuel Power

The wait time here at Modbury Hospital is unbelievably ridiculous, for patients who are in pain or are stressed, they either simply do not care or are not efficient enough. I remember I came here once a few years ago and waited 2 hours to see the doctor, all while I was pouring blood from my nose.

  • nancy milera

The Worst Hospital Experience I've Ever Experienced. Staff Are Very Very Rude Left Me Feeling Like Nobody Cared. Was Due For A Transfer To Another Hospital That Didn't Happen Until 24Hrs Later Left Me Starving Like A Dog I Definitely Wouldn't Go There Ever Again Very Very Poor Service Provided

  • parwin ibrahimi

The emergency receptionist treats v bad specially when they identified that you aren’t Aussie I don’t have a good experience with this hospital a nurse would come to visit you and then search in google to write a prescription and it would take a long time. You can’t see any expert dr here.

  • Joy Bodelay

We had an excellent care experience at the Modbury Hospital ER! My husband needed to visit there twice this week and stay through the nights, dealing with an illness, and the nurses and doctors were wonderful to us both. Especially Nurse Elise! We are so happy to know they are there.

  • Rob Davis

6 hours at emergency and still haven't seen a doctor. Just sitting here in pain watching an elderly woman also in pain... I feel bad for her because she was already here when I arrived. 3 ppl at the counter chatting and joking.. it's not funny from where we're sitting...

  • Michelle Judd

Allied health seem ok, but nurses are disgusting. Refuse to give pain relief, sleeping tablets, and even antiemetics! They have absolutely no compassion. Don't go here for rehab - you'll feel surrounded by the enemy. Tomorrow my husband discharge himself.

  • Elusion 23one

2023 the mental health triage will not answer the phone and you can barely get any information from them. They will make excuses and blame you for what is going on instead of connecting to anyone that can help. Do not call them if you are in a crisis

  • Damien Van Zoelen

The food is ok but i had bangers and mash with cauliflower for lunch and chicken and pumpkin bake with mash and broccoli for dinner both the cauliflower pumpkin and broccoli tasted like vinegar and the chicken was dry and tastes foul like vinegar

  • Just Me Drop in

An appointment was made for me by an eastern Health Hospital Surgeon admin to have an ultrasound at the Modbury. Having waited an hour well past my appointment and being the very last to be seen by the registrar. Instead of an ultrasound i

  • Star Laughter

Every time I have needed the services of this hospital I have been met with caring and, under the circumstances, efficient care. Spent a good part of two weeks in the palliative care unit recently, and cannot possibly give enough praise to

  • Rihanna Wilson

This morning I presented to the ED with my mother. Who was left alone with no help for hours in the back of emergency. While I’m telling them that the symptoms she’s having is not normal to her everyday pain they push it aside and say it’s

  • Anne

One of the worse hospitals in Adelaide. Incompetent staff /nurses and doctors in emergency department. Waited 10 hours in agonizing pain and they didn't help me in any way at all. Worse then third world country. …

  • Jess T.

Absolutely disgusting! Went there with my mum a few nights ago and waited 5 hours to see a doctor. Nursing staff all just sitting in the checkin office eating, laughing and even swearing! Talking about other staff members and non related

  • Tony Poon

When you go to the ED, you get treated in priority. There’s less staff at night as well, so if you’re there for non-life threatening injury, you’ll be waiting for hours - as expected (Emergency is for emergencies). Triage nurses aren’t

  • Jane London

When I first arrived at the hospital the nurses were quite nice. I saw a docotr briefly. I had chest pain etc., nausea, felt peculiar in the head which was dealt with in the ambulance, who were lovely, they handed over with all the

  • James Chadwick

Very pleasant people happy to do anything for you. Best hospital I've been too so far. Nice an clean. You can smell the freshness in the air. Everyone was 1.5m apart. Good on you modbury hospital. I clap my hands too you all.

  • Esther Higgs

Lack of communication among the staff and patients. Should not have to wait over 2 hours with no update on when i will be seen. This has happened almost everytime. People have lives to get to. Not everyone can wait.

  • Sylwia

6.5 hours waiting with an eye injury and in pain and still have not been seen. Totally understand that it’s been busy but 6.5 hours is not good enough. Hospital in charge may need to look at triage and staffing.

  • Piper Lind

Max they give is pandol and codeine here even when you are screaming in pain. Waited 6 hours to be told the nurse registered us on the system 2 hours later, so others who had been there 3 hours were going first

  • 2dawgz

I had day surgery yesterday , the staff were absolutely brilliant caring. Looks great the new redevelopment , we should be thankful we have such a great health system . Would easily come back for anything else.

  • Greg

My family has had need of the services at the Emergency Department twice in the last week. Both times we were extremely happy with the service we got. Well done and thank you to all the staff there.

  • Veronica Clarke

Staff in the Emergency department and in the Hospice were wonderful to my mother and the family between her being admitted and passing away. We are very grateful for their care and kindness.

  • Mal Atwork

Went to the hospital with a sore arm and neck from falling off a bike. Was treated quickly and professionally by all involved. Very happy with the service provided. Thanks to all.

  • Kasey Fowler

only got student doctors got conflicting statements from all of them, when i got to see the actual doctor i had 1 minute of talking after 2 hours of talking

  • Heath Schrapel

Outpatients staff, specialists and volunteers are friendly and caring; couldn’t find a vacant car parking space literally anywhere at the hospital though…

  • kumar Gaurav

Worst experience of my life. Would rather die than visiting this hospital. Waited 9-10 hours to see a specialist coz was feeling uneasy with chest pain

  • Taj Saeed

Hospital that never should to be approved as hospital, low life staff no answer to phone I mean there’s nothing like hospital heaps to complain about.

  • Helga Hayen Carvajal

The staff were very helpful and supportive. The waiting time was not extensive and they even provided food. Thank you for looking after us so well.

  • navi monert

Great team in emergency thanks for looking after and fixing up our toddler grandsons chin 2 Stiches and all went as planned thank you….

  • Undubbed Gaming

HIRE MORE DOCTORS FOR THE NIGHT SHIFT I've been here for 8 hours now and I still haven't seen a doctor I don't get it

  • John Simmonds

This is about the Car Park. Why keep allowing cars in when there are no spaces ? You end up doing 3 laps and leaving.

  • Bronte Warneke

Palliative care staff were exceptional to us. Very compassionate and understanding. Beautiful rooms and facility.

  • Tricia

Cannot fault my visit, all staff in day surgery unit were all lovely and the area itself was very clean

  • Gerry Wimpenny

I had a appointment,I arrived early, had a coffee then went to my specialist, everything was fine.

  • KIgaming (May)

Do not try and get in here if you're trans wanting HRT, wait times get to over a year.
