Nordstrom's inventory is great and they sell quality items. That said, they leave a lot of room for improvement in their policies and treatment of customers. I stopped through last week for a tuxedo fitting for my upcoming wedding. I am a concealed carry permit holder and bring a concealed firearm just about everywhere it is allowed. After doing so for many years, part of my routine before entering any building is to check for posted signage regarding the property's concealed carry policy. Per state law, any business forbidding the concealed or open carry of a firearm on their premises is required to post in 1-inch letters contrasting with the background either a 30.06 (barring concealed carry) or 30.07 (barring open carry) sign that is clearly visible at each entrance informing of their policy. When I entered Nordstrom directly from the parking lot, I checked for signage and saw only a 30.07 sign, which are much more common than 30.06, informing that open carry was not permitted. I proceeded into the store, enjoyed my appointment where I picked my wedding tuxedo, and then went through the store and into the mall for a short while. Upon returning to Nordstrom (it was the most direct route to where I was parked outside) I was confronted by store security no more than 5 steps after I entered the store. He loudly inquired if I was carrying a firearm and when I told him that I was, he grabbed my shoulder and told me I had to leave. On the way to the exit, I informed him that I had checked for signage and suggested that their posted signage was not up to code. He incorrectly stated that possessing a firearm in their store was a felony (it would only be a Class C Misdemeanor if they could prove that I intentionally disobeyed their signage and then refused to leave after bring informed). I understand different stores have different policies but the way this was handled was poor to say the least. I had already been in the store, established that I was a paying customer and clearly was not a threat to anyone, left, and then was simply walking through on my way to the parking lot when they caused this commotion. When we reached the entrance/exit, I pointed out to security that the 30.06 sign was all the way on the other side of an entrance with 4 separate doors and was clearly NOT visible from the door through which I had originally entered. Further, I checked other mall and store direct entrances and discovered that Nordstrom was the only entrance to the whole mall attempting to forbid concealed carriers from entering. I noticed a manager observing my interaction with security who seemed to tail us through the store on the way out. I assume this gentleman may have some political bias against what an armed citizen represents as he seemed very satisfied with himself and what he had initiated by having me thrown out of their store. I have been a customer at Nordstrom for many years but will not continue to support their business if they will not support a customer, who is minding their own business, in their constitutional right to self preservation. It is their responsibility to post the signage as dictated by code, which they did not even come close to accomplishing, yet they were happy to tell me why I was in the wrong even after pointing that out. Just a reminder- 3 weeks ago an armed citizen who was "unlawfully" carrying in a mall in Indiana stopped a mass shooter 17 seconds after the shooting began.

Yesterday my wife and I were doing some shopping and we were in there for the better part of an hour while wearing clear plastic face masks. After we bought some stuff at the baby section, spoke to half a dozen or so staff members between that area and the cosmetics/fragrances I went to look for an open register to purchase another item. Well, an older lady who worked there decided to intercept me in my pursuit and tell me that my mask did not meet their “company policy” and asked me in a not so polite way to leave. Confused I asked why and what their policy is... she said that my mask did not create a seal at which point I pointed out that her mask didn’t either, to which she then became more confrontational. I promptly tossed my merchandise on an empty counter and went to find my wife and daughter. After telling my wife that I’d just been told to leave because our masks (we use the same kind) weren’t up to snuff, she decided she’d like to return the merchandise we had already purchased as a way to let them know we thought they were being unreasonable. To which a manager was called, security was called and several staff started to hover around us. They continued to escalate the situation, insist that their mask policy is clearly posted (it just says to wear a face covering), to which we pushed back that we were wearing face coverings, told us we couldn’t walk around the store to keep us contained, etc. The staff was making insulting comments (towards my wife mostly) and the manager continued to be condescending and rude. After she processed our return she told us to “get out”. Now we’re fairly reasonable people and had the initial employee who started this approached with “compliant” masks in hand, offered them as an alternative and wished us well in our shopping experience, none of this would have happened. If your company’s mask policy is more stringent than the norm then it should be clearly posted and unambiguous. I would also recommend some training on how to approach these situations without getting defensive and escalating them. We won’t be returning to this or any other Nordstrom’s again.

I went to this store to purchase a men's cologne I had in mind. I was immediately greeted by Tina and she was very nice. Unfortunately, I was stuck between two colognes so she had me spray both options, one on each hand. I stated I would walk around to let the scents settle. I came back an hour later and was greeted by another rep Christina B.; Tina was on lunch. Here is where my bad review starts. Since I came in knowing which cologne I wanted , I felt like Christina was just making the sale and not providing me any customer service experience. She didn't even wish me a good day or thank me for shopping. When I tested and asked which of the two she would like, she responded "I have 7," and then proceeded on bragging which colognes smelled good on her. I had to redirect the conversation and clarify which she would recommend on a man since my question got to her head. I will not be coming back nor recommending anyone to purchase expensive items here because I am a strong believer in exceptional customer service when shopping at high end stores. I will continue my expensive cologne shopping at Neiman Marcus and drive the extra 20 miles. By the way, two of the complementary gifts were filled halfway by her which is ridiculous. Jane in order pick up and returns was extremely rude and confrontational throughout my entire return transaction. She just stood in front of me aggressively stating that they couldn’t resell the unworn jeans, stating that they couldn’t help me, and pushing my items back to me. She also accused me of lying about purchasing the jeans at their store. Jane did everything she could to be condescending instead of helpful. Thankfully there was another, younger woman, who was polite and helpful despite Jane’s outbursts. Together, the younger woman and I figured out my return issue and I was able to complete the transaction successfully. It merely took a bit of patience and excellent customer service. Something Jane could not offer. Thankfully the remainder of my time in Nordstrom was pleasant since the topshop girls were super kind and helpful.

The customer service here doesn't line up with the high bar I've gotten used to at other locations. One of the biggest reasons to shop at Nordstrom is the famously generous return policy, right? But if they can't make the profits back re-selling to someone else, then this location will no longer accept your return. Even if you've made similar returns at this location before with no questions asked. Even if you used to work at Nordstrom and know that it meets the return policy requirements. Even if you call the customer care line and get confirmation from them that it meets the return policy requirements. Looking through other reviews, this isn't an uncommon returns experience for this location. I'd recommend trying other retailers or Nordstrom Domain over this one even if it is out of the way.

Jarvis and Elias were the two gentlehumans who helped my friend and I in the shoe department. I'd always loathed going to the mall, but since there was a wedding trip coming up to St. Thomas Island, we didn't want to leave shoe-shopping to the delays (and possible disappointments) of buying online. Jarvis and Elias made the experience fun and personable. I felt welcomed and every question I had was answered promptly. They also went the extra mile with getting another staff member, who was an expert with shoe care and modification, add extra sets of holes in my friend's shoe that fit *almost* perfectly before their help. Now she's super happy, I'm happy, and I hope to see them next time I come back!

Customer service at this location suffers and continues to decline. Returns have become increasingly stressful and difficult with visible annoyance shown by those doing them at the register instead of at a customer service desk. I asked if a shirt was in stock and was told to go ask someone else, they pointed to the dept.and I was left to my own devices with no help, no escort or connection made. Between no one wanting to do returns and being sent on a wild goose chase to find a shirt, it's disappointing given the standards I thought were true for Nordstrom. I'm going to strongly reconsider the time and money spent here.

I had a wonderful experience in the cosmetics area I ended up spending $300 but have never looked prettier! I didn't get any makeup but I got all skin care and oh I also bought a really nice ring and it is so sparkly! They also ship for free and you can exchange at the store for free so it makes it really awesome and easy to buy things online. So far I've had a wonderful experience I'll let you know after my next packages arrive. You wouldn't believe it but it's 3 days late because Train derailed I saw that on the UPS tracking explanation and figured if that was an excuse that would buy em a couple days

What happened to Nordstrom’s Barton Creek? This was my go to store for a date night or event dress? It’s been 3 years since I have gone dress shopping and we immediately went to the place I always found something, was always helped and was the best staff. I am heartbroken to see how far it has declined. I walked the whole women’s clothing floor, not one single person even acknowledged me much less asked if they could help. Considering the dearth of quality that I saw on the racks, I guess Nordstrom’s has changed who they’re catering to as clients. I’m very sad.

Unfortunately my experience at the Barton Creek Nordstrom has not been the same as other Nordstrom stores. This one is unclean and in disarray. Shoes and shoe boxes laid out with no one around and the staff was not busy. The customer service was lower than average and unprofessional. The staff's knowledge on the products they sell was poor. I look to them for recommendations, expertise. The selection feels like a Nordstrom Rack rather than regular Nordstrom. The only perople that exemplified excellence were Mary Dugas and Philip in mens.

So disappointed, i’ve always had great experiences shopping at other locations, but the employees here are improperly trained and condescending. Would not approve an exchange for a smaller size of a pair of shoes purchased less than a week ago because they looked “worn” and “beaten up”, the shoes in question were golden goose’s and are literally meant to look like that. Had to go through 3 different hoops to get the same answer. Did not want to be a karen, so we simply left. Will stick with any other location or online only.

Unfortunately the store has gone downhill. Used to buy most clothing and shoes there due to great service. Had a pair of To Boot New York soles split after a few years. Went to the store and sales person was dismissive and uninterested in helping at all. Just sort of shrugged and said yeah that can happen and we won’t warranty them or help. Very disappointed - have bought many high end shoes there and the wife even more. I guess from now on we will go online or to another retailer that stands behind their sales.

Frank Rodriguez in the kids department was a huge help in finding my daughters the right size jackets. I was shopping without them and trying to match brand sizes to what I felt was their actual size - he probably saved me at least an hour of wandering around/guessing. I had to return and exchange some other items later that week as well and he made the process super easy. It’s people like Frank that create the “Nordstrom experience” and why I continue to shop there instead of Amazon or other department stores.

I have always loved this store, especially the shoe selection. The store is always clean and well organized as well as well staffed. Someone is always available to help. That being said, customer service is merely okay. Employees have a been prompt and courtious but none I can say has been overly eager, upbeat or friendly. Shoe selection hasn't been as diverse in recent years, either... especially for the Austin market. For those two reasons I give it only 3 stars.

This place sucks and so do the employees in the bag department. I bought a designer bag 1 1/2 ago and never used it. Everything is in perfect condition it’s just the amount of time that it’s been. The lady claimed that they can only take it back within 30 days, however, I have only known Nordstrom to advertise unlimited returns. I was never told about this rule once. It seems like her and her manager lied just to avoid this return. Trashy Nordstrom location.

I like to get some perfume there and the price difference from Macy. Macy, the price is more expensive than the online. It surprised me. So I need to change it after l bought in Nordstrom. Me and my husband were sampling colognes when this man began saying that my husband was attempting to take the tags off of the sample bottles. My husband then buys the bottle he was looking at, and the worker continued to follow us and insist he was trying to trying to steal. This interaction was very unprofessional and very prejudice. This man should be fired and should never be hired as bootleg “security guard”

Shopping for my first grandchild was super exciting and the gentleman (no name tag) was so very helpful. Even though it was closing time, we were not rushed or reminded about store being closed little while later. We had a carry out service to our car by the same gentleman. Purchased car seat. I recently bought jeans in the women's department and had a great time. Nicole is the BEST sales personnel! She was so helpful and cheerful it made the experience so great. She was attentive the whole time and helped me find the best pair (DL jeans). I remembered it's employees like her that make me choose Nordstrom! All the staff here were so nice and helpful. And even tho they work on commission, NOT one of them was pushy. That is a sign of good management. Frank, Maria, Patrick and EVERYONE i spoke to on the first floor were outstanding. Even the folks at the Nordtrom Coffeebar were great. Next time i will see if the second floor folks (and cafe) are up the the same standards

Extremely dissatisfied with the suit purchasing experience. The tailoring was just done very poorly. I was able to trade it in for a second suit and again, bad tailoring. The sales team made it seem like the suit would fit well then it gets tailored and they act like nothing can be done to fix it afterwords. If you are looking to buy I suit I’d suggest you go elsewhere.

Dana in the women’s section helped me for over an hour pick out my whole new summer wardrobe. I told her my size and style and she nailed it! As I was still browsing, she put together outfits and had them waiting for me in the dressing room. Such a neat touch! I ended up buying majority of the pieces she picked out. There were 4 gentlemen working the women's shoe department, and they all decided to have a conversation between the four of themselves and ignore myself and all other customers in their area. I just recently started going to Nordstrom for my perfumes and some makeup. The ladies in that area are so knowledgeable and nice. You can test almost anything. They will even provide you a tester to see if you really want the item. The best part is they aren't pushy and won't run you down for the sale. They want you to be comfortable with your decision and purchase.

I like their cafe because it's relaxed and the menu items are not too bad. For example, the Nicqouise Salad is superb and their pizzas are freshly made. What's really cool is that they will let you customize your pizza a little if there's something that you don't like. Lastly, they even give you a little chocolate mint when you are done eating. A nice treat, I say!

The store itself is wonderful as are some of the staff but watch out for a little monster named "Kendall" that works in the accessory department.. she basically has a God complex (the little narc) and told me to my face that she chooses who does and doesnt get a refund in her Department. Pretty sure that's not Nordstrom works nor is it their return policy.

Honey and John in men’s shoes helped me and my husband today with men’s shoe. He is very hard to fit. They were incredibly helpful in finding the right shoe and helping with adjustments so my husband could walk out of the store feeling comfortable in his new shoes. Appropriate seasonal stock although few XL or L. Great ideas. Visit Target for flowery dresses as t a reasonable price or Nordstrom for pricey flowing flowery dresses. BOTH!

I don't shop here regularly but have been going off and on for the past 15 years. The merchandise and layout may change but they have the best customer service and return policy in the industry. The bathrooms btw are always immaculate btw. It matters. We've also used their personal shoppers and have had fantastic experiences!!!

Staff are extremely friendly. The store itself is relatively clean and well kept... Except for the kids shoe section. That part was gross. The blue chairs are faded and brown. There is crayon everywhere and the carpet is stained. Selection isn't very good, either. Come for the clothes, but get kids shoes somewhere else.

Nordstrom is a great store, but I very rarely find clothes or shoes that are in my size or in a style I prefer. I've visited to find work attire - business suits/casual and nothing is appropriate or attractive. The only section that has attentive staff is shoe department.
