I never thought walking in to a shoe store would change my life! I’m a 40 something amputee. I’ve always had h, back, and knee pain, pain has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. I walked in today with my husband and 2 young children to purchase a pair of hiking sandals for my husband. Tomek was available and very knowledgeable, I asked him a question on how to prevent stains on the footbed of leather sandals, I explained to him that being an amputee, only one sandal gets dirty. He answered my question, and then proceeded to ask me questions around my condition, and what my concerns were around hip pain, he noticed I walked hiking my hip higher on one side, he asked about my knee, and arch pain. It was like he knew where all of my pains are. Then he suggested solutions, he kept saying the pain I’m in is treatable, and preventable. I was skeptical. Tomek spent an hour or so with me. With his help, I found out that I have been wearing the wrong shoe size. I tried on the right size, and was amazed at how good I felt, then he added a heel lift in the shoe for the prosthetic foot. I immediately felt so much better, he also suggested some ortho inserts to support my feet, to keep them from rolling in, WOW!!! Those made a huge difference in how I walked, my hips were visibly aligned, the pressure on my knee was gone. I couldn’t believe the big difference I felt. I have never liked to watch myself walk, today I watched myself walk with ease, I couldn’t believe my own reflection! I felt confident and secure!! Tomek also helped both of my children find the right shoe size, and made suggestions, he educated us on how to ensure they are always wearing the right shoe for their specific needs. I’m forever grateful for finding this store, and for meeting Tomek. A huge heartfelt THANK YOU, Tomek!
Bought two pairs of shoes while I was travelling there. A few red flags: (1) The first thing they told me, out of the blue, was to forget about brands different than Hoka (which was the first red flag), without a specific reason, saying general things like "they are all too narrow", or "they are too heavy", or "nobody wants them". (2) Then a guy diagnosed me with overpronation by watching me doing 10 meters walking. I did many tests in the past (and after being there), and this result didn't match both the consumption of my old shoes nor the result of old tests. This resulted in me buying the wrong shoes. (3) Then a guy touched my feet and said I have a consumed metatarsal. Initially I thought he was a pedologist, but then I realised he was just a weight lifter working there. (4) I went there with some shoes that had ~250km on them. As soon as I asked them how much consumed they were, they immediately said that I should stop running in them immediately, and buy new one. I ended up buying a shoes based on their advises, and it turned out to be a suboptimal choice, as the shoe is for people with feet problems I don't have. Unfortunately I went back to europe after the buy, so I haven't been able to return it. Anyway, despite the misleading and wrong advise, the feeling is that they really care about customers, and it is a very welcoming environment. So 5/5 for customer service, but 1/5 for the wrong advise.
I was referred to "on the Run" shoes by my podiatrist. So I went to the store on a cloudy Sunday afternoon in August 2018. I would rate my experience with this shoe store as very positively impressed. When I walked in the door, the place was crowded with people. My needs were specific, simply put, i was in pain, my feet hurt like i was walking barefoot on tacs, marbles, and rocks. but I am not well enough informed about the physiology of feet and footware to be much more specific. Circling inside the store it appeared that all the salespeople were already helping others. So I sat down expecting s long wait. But, to my surprise in took less than minutes time before a salesperson asked to help me. And before I knew it, I had two employees helping me. And that was the beginning of my education about finding the right shoe and the various way to adjust the fit to perfection. While they did fit me and sell me shoes, and orthotic it was an informative and satisfying experience because of the technical knowledge of the emplyees to do what they did... for me -- literally -- get me back on my feet. So, if your walking funny, or your feet hurt, need to run further or faster, or just need a new pair of shoes, go to "on the run" shoes. ### follow-up after a month... Addtional fine tuning of the orthodic, by my podiatrist has made my feet very happy. I stand by what i wrote.
At the suggestion of my podiatrist Dr. Mark Co, I visited 'On The Run' to properly fit me in a pair of walking shoes. I'd been wearing New Balance 8.5/6E purchased from Amazon which were giving me trouble. It was time to get professionally fitted for shoes. Dr. Co wasn't wrong. These folks know their business. Though the store was busy, I was attended too in short by Joey Hisatake who quickly diagnosed my issues and showed me how my current shoe was torquing my feet. Joey suggested these great Brooks 9/4E that fit like a glove. I wore them out the store and have already walked a few miles in them and they are just what my feet needed. Thank you Joey. And thanks for showing me the proper way to lace a shoe! 'On The Run' Shoes is really the only place to go in San Francisco if you wish to be properly fitted for shoes. If you have wide feet like myself, allow the store to properly measure your foot. You may not have as wide a foot as you think. Conclusion I thought I could properly judge my feet and save some money and purchase my wide-size New Balance shoes from Amazon. In the end, it bit me in the foot and my feet began to hurt. I needed professional help and found a great source in 'On The Run' Shoes. Their prices were just fine for the quality of the product and service you receive. Peace
You might as well call this place happy feet XD I came in with a few foot problems/issues that I was having after I started my new job in a warehouse. After having me walk barefoot for about a minute, Joey knew exactly how to help me and what problems I was having. He was very knowledgeable and told me about the anatomy of the foot, what happens when you walk, and explanation of why I was having foot problems/issues in the first place and so much more. I came out of there more knowledgeable than when I came in, and I walked out of there with shoes that feel and look great. If you are considering coming here because you have foot problems like flat feet (which I do) this is the place to go! Also I thought it was going to be super expensive but I paid $120 for shoes that are perfect for me and the work I do. I originally thought I'd be looking at $300 out the door because I've never been to a place where a professional helps you find the right fitting shoes before and I didn't know what to expect. I was pleasantly surprised to say the least Thank you again Joey!
This is one of the BEST store experiences I’ve ever ever had! After many disappointing trips to other shoe stores with unhelpful and unknowledgeable reps, I searched online for a store with expert assessments. I decided to go to On The Run after reading good reviews, and as soon as I stepped in, I was immediately assisted by Tomek who spent the next 30-45mins giving me the most comprehensive and educational foot assessment I’ve ever had.. and I am someone who actively seeks out custom fitted shoes, ski boots, etc because I’ve always had complicated foot issues (over-pronation, collapsed arch, bunion). Tomek taught me things that I wasn’t even aware of about my biomechanics & shared really practical tips and stretches on preventing further strain on my body. I felt like I was speaking to a foot scientist, reflexologist, personal trainer, and shoe expert. My total for a pair of ASICS came to $140 and I would’ve easily paid 2x for the expert service & tailored experience I received. I will be sending anyone looking for new running shoes this way.
Thanks to this store, I can run again! I've always been a runner, but once I hit 30, I started having pain in my arches (which are really high) from running and even from walking long distances. After trying a few running shoe stores to no avail, my podiatrist recommended this one. One of their salespeople took a look at my feet, and immediately identified two insole options. I tried them both, picked the one I liked, and the staff talked me through how to adapt to using them. The whole shopping experience was over in 15 minutes, cost less than $70, and within a week I was able to walk and even run without pain. Their staff are friendly, knowledgable, and if you have problems with your feet or gait, *will* find you the specialty product you need. They didn't try to upsell me on some fancy product that wouldn't work (like other stores did), just found me a good reliable insert that solved my problem. If you're having pain from running, this store should be your first stop.
There are so few actual shoe stores, with actual sales associates who are trained and specialize in actually helping customers find shoes that work with the individual. So when you find a store like On the Run, you need to appreciate the craft and the culmative years of training and experience of their staff. The will measure your feet, they will ask you questions, and utimately, find shoes that are functional, stylish and best of all, work for your feet! Don't abuse this privlege by using them to try on shoes to only later buy something slightly cheaper online. This is a SERVICE, and you ultimately get what you pay for, so please respect and support this small business. Cannot say enough about MJ and Rachel, who helped me and my daughter (with super hard to find shoes for her feet) find numerous pairs of shoes over the years.
I visited On The Run last month and I am so glad I did! Over time, I've found that the splay of my toes has become wider and regular running shoes rub the sides of my big and small toes which has led to ingrown nails. For years, my podiatrist has instructed me to get shoes with a wider toe box and I never did until the pain was too much to bear. Enter On The Run! I walked in and had the best experience with Joe. He schooled me on the best kind of shoe for my feet. My Nikes were too narrow, and the Hokas I was interested in buying would be a bit too wide. I ended up purchasing a pair of Brooks which I would have never considered without Joe's help. I've had them for over a month now and my shoe feel amazing. I have no pain and it feels like I'm walking on butter. Thanks Joe, 10/10 experience.
Went in to buy a pair of clogs but they seemed like they didn't want me to walk too far from the chair in them. I bought 'em & they HURT, because I didn't really get to walk around in them while I was there. Went back to return 'em but no go! Exchange Only! Great!! All they had was SUPER FRUMPY looking!! I'm NOT FRUMPY! After 30-45mins a guy brought out a pair of copper, platform, sketcher type shoes, for $180+!!!! He'd had them in back. He was also not letting me walk too much in them! Had NO other choice but to buy them because all else was UGLY JUNK! 4 years later they look brand new, barely worn, because they're SO PAINFUL! SO PAINFUL! I can only walk in them for @ 20mins! The Customer Service was awful. SO Snotty, Uppety, like I didn't belong there! But, my $180+ was very welcome!!
Went there for the first time today after my podiatrist recommended them. I have plantar fasciitis for a few years now. It comes and goes but this time the pain has been excruciating. Never felt so much pain in my life. As I walked in I was greeted with ‘Hullo do you need any help’ ? . It was William the store manager. He was attending to a customer but suggested me to sit next to her so he could help us both. I had to run for a dentists appointment and he was very accommodating. Their products are very good too. I had gone in to buy an insert for my shoe but left with a shoe, sandals and shoe insert. Their prices are affordable too. Will post again in a month to 6 weeks to update here on the effectiveness of their arch support products I purchased.
I need to pick up a pair of running shoes that can fit special orthotics for my misaligned lower body, and my UCSF podiatrist recommended this place to me. Staff here is definitely a pro. What the staff said was aligned with my podiatrist and my PT’s recommendation. Highly recommended this store if you have some sorts of injuries. Price here is fair (same as many retailers) but definitely not as discounted as some online sale event. However, with the service, I think it’s way better than shopping in retail stores. Of course, parking can be painful. My advice is try to go during weekdays or if you are seeing ortho or PT at UCSF Parnassus, park at the hospital and walk to this store (only couple blocks away).
Shopped here for years. Bought 2 pair of shoes for husband, he didn't like either. Returned them to find out they only allow 'store credit'??!! What? Who does this.....what a scam. To top it off as they were putting the 'credit' on my account the read off a phone number that was close to mine, but wasn't mine....well, you can see how easy it would be to lose your credit! Or not even have it applied. Figured this out after guy told me 'you don't even need your receipt'....yeah right. Recommend you buy online where you can fully return!! I try to buy local....but in this case, when they go out of business I'll be able to say told you so and I won't shed a tear. Customer is NOT first here.
Wow!!!! Wow!!! Wow!!! The shoes I was recommended for my various chronic physical ailments (recent recovery of a 5th metatarsal fracture, flat feet, osteoarthritis & back pain) by Salesperson Tim D. are a true GAME CHANGER!!! My knees stopped crunching together, my feet had arch support (with orthotics) & didn't ache with each step. My back got much needed support with a lift in the heels. Tim knows his business, he knew immediately what I needed. I'm so glad I finally listened to my friend Pat & my physical therapist and finally went in for a good pair of walking shoes: HOKA ONE ONE Gaviota3, house slippers: HAFLINGER & water shoes: HOKA ONE ONE. On the Run has a customer for life.
I've shopped here many times over the years, but had not been in since 2019, pre-pandemic. I'm happy to report that the service is still amazing. My feet have changed over time and what worked for me before does not work now. Eric was so knowledgeable and helped me find the perfect running/athletic shoe for my hard-to-fit feet. The inserts he recommended have been a game-changer. They have a great selection of athletic shoes, although I do wish they had a better (larger?) selection of fashion shoes. If you're a local it's easy to get there on public transit, and if you're driving there are 2 nearby small parking lots that are very convenient.
The customer service here is so incredible that I felt compelled to write a review, and I never write reviews. It feels like service from a bygone era. William, the person that fitted me for new running shoes, was super helpful, attentive, and had an expertise rarely found in any shoe store these days. The shoes themselves are a bit on the pricey side, but well worth it since you get what you pay for and the fitting itself is highly individualized. These guys really care that you walk out the door with shoes that are comfortable, functional, and fit you perfectly. Thanks for the excellent service!
Sure, I got some great shoes for a great price. What REALLY made my visit stand out though, was how attentive and helpful the associate/owner was! I asked for decent running shoes for a returning runner who just spent a year on the couch. The person helping me looked at my gait, checked for strained/understretched muscles, and gave me helpful stretches and exercises to keep me from getting injured. Also he obviously recommend some supportive shoes that I’m super happy with. This is now my go-to shop for not just shoes, but also advice and equipment for running. Can’t recommend it enough!
On The Run in SF is a must-visit for any runner, athlete, nurse, service worker or anyone in their feet all day in need of shoes or foot-related accessories. The store boasts a wide selection of top-quality products and is staffed by knowledgeable and helpful employees. Their expertise and passion for running and foot care shine through in their personalized service and recommendations. Shout out to Tomek for his excellent customer service! Overall, On The Run in SF is a gem for the athletic community, and Tomek and his team are deserving of high praise for their exceptional service.
I can’t say enough good things about this store. These guys know shoes. I bought some hokas and insoles from them and just ran my first marathon. My feet are fine. Before I went to On the Run, I was training for with some shoes that were causing some foot pain. These guys had me try on a few pairs, watched my gait, had me run around the block. They set me up for success. I’ve had no foot pain and finished the SF marathon under the time I expected. The gentlemen here are professional, kind, and really take the time to find the perfect shoe for you. I’m so grateful I came here.
I went here before started a five month long training camp where I run roughly 15miles a week in addition to other demanding workouts. I was getting shin splints and plantar fasciitis In the shoes I was running in prior and with the help of the amazing staff (the name is unfortunately escaping me) I was able to get fitted with a great pair of shoes. Both of my issues have gone away while having intense workouts. I’m very thankful for them taking the time to listen to me and let me try on multiple pairs of shoes so I can leave confidently with the best pair for my needs.
If you care about your body and you want knowledgeable people to partner with over proper fitting footwear for your sporting activities, you start here. in about 1977 or 1978 I started coming here for my running shoes. then, some years later, when my knees protested about the running, I switched to walking and hiking shoes. This is the only place I ever recommend to anyone for footwear. All the knee doctors (both sides of the Bay) I've ever consulted know about this place, recommend it, and trust it. Look no further. You've found the right place.
The positive reviews are all correct! This store has a wide array of running, comfort and even dress shoes. More importantly, however, the staff are all highly knowledgeable and incredibly helpful! I haven’t had such a thorough evaluation as I had here. I ended up getting running shoes that were the perfect fit for my foot and perfect style for my running preference/tendencies. Joey helped me out and was so awesome, and all the staff I overheard seemed really great. I will definitely be coming back here for my future running and comfort shoes!
Best shoe store in town. Why go to a shop where sellers don’t care and above all don’t know. I left with a pair of shoes Zach recommended. Since i did bot know which size to choose, he measured my feet. That looks pretty basic, right? Well last week I went to a shop where they just told me to look on the label for a European size equivalence. I really enjoyed being helped why Zach and someone else who jumped in. Best service with nice people. That what shopping should be like. Especially since the Quality-price ratio is great
I’d heard about this place from my friend and finally got a chance to check it out. I was just browsing around for shoes but MJ was so fantastic that I ended up buying a pair for myself! MJ really knows what he’s talking about and he took a lot of time figuring out what would be the best fit based on my feet and gait. I ended up with a pair that is much better than what I’ve been wearing and I’m so excited to break them in! If you go here and get MJ, you’re definitely going to walk out with something you’re totally satisfied with.
Great service and selection of shoes! I’ve been experiencing pain from bunions, and my feet are on the wider side so I wanted to try some shoes on in-person. Daniel was extremely knowledgeable and analyzed my feet as I walked. He gave specific recommendations that addressed my concerns, and I’m really excited to walk in my new shoes. Daniel also detailed the return policy as I was checking out, so it was clear that a return would result in store credit (no surprises here)! Will definitely visit again and recommend to friends!
Fantastic experience at On the Run! Was in the market for running shoes after wearing down my old last pair. I was promptly helped as I walked into the store and had amazing personal from MJ! He taught me all about the mechanics of the shoes and the biomechanics of my feet, for me properly and was patient as i tried 4 pairs of shoes while doing little jogs around the shop/out front for each. After finding the perfect pair he also gave me some pointers on my casual shoes i had walked in with. Great experience all around!
I've been having pain in my feet and the staff here are fantastic and highly knowledgeable. Eric M. helped me. Even though the place was bustling with customers, he took the time to listen to my problem, answer my questions, analyze my feet and my walk. His explanation of what was causing me pain was insightful and he gave me some really good recommendations. I tried on several pairs of shoes and orthotic insoles and walked away very happy and wowed by the knowledgeable and helpfulness of the staff.
My favorite neighborhood comfort shoe store! I have been coming here for years as I have flat foot so always have to wear special fitting shoes. Even my podiatrist recommended this place. Another good thing is that they keep good records of everything that you purchase, so you really can look back when did you last purchased your shoes. I knew I had a pair of my haflinger sandals for year but didn’t realize it until went to buy a new pair today. Tomek from the store is super patient and helpful.
They have always helped me find shoes that feel good on my feet. That turns out to be real important, while I started shopping here in my twenties when this wasn't a challenge, in my forties it's become much harder and I really appreciate the service now as I walk many miles a day and without great shoes this wouldn't be possible. The insoles/orthotics can be bought with the shoe, which is important for getting the right fit. Certainly my favorite shoe store, I really appreciate them!
I can't say enough about this place. It's the ONLY place I go for shoes and absolutely reccomend it to anyone. As a bartender I'm on my feet a lot and they have always taken time to figure out my needs and find exactly what I need. Customer service is above and beyond. Over the past few years I have bought multiple work shoes, vacation sandals and athletic shoes from there with 100% satisfaction. Do yourself the favor and visit these great people. Thank you On The Run, for being you!
I go here for the employees knowledge of footwear and how to properly fit a pair of shoes. The brands offered are all high quality. I buy my walking and work shoes here do to the proper fit and styles. Small public parking lot right next to the store. Entrance to it is on the block behind the store. Shoe shopping with great help is something amazon cannot provide. This is a popular store. Be prepared to wait a bit to get service. The shoes are worth the wait!!!!
Foot anatomy experts work here! I bought 3 pairs of shoes and 3 ortho inserts for my shoes. I'm tired of buying shoes that don't for, or don't support. The $60 inserts are better than my custom made, $300 orthotics from my Podiatrist! Good selection of shoes....American & European brands. Not just practical, but cute shoes.....not old-lady looking! I can tell the difference in my feet and legs, after working 1 nursing shift, in my new shoes and inserts!
Excellent customer service. Multiple times they've had me in the perfect walking shoes within minutes. This last trip was a particularly tricky one trying to find shoes to fit a post-operative ankle support wrap - and they were even able to fit me with a second wrap for swimming. After Sports Basement had completely failed to help me on either account, this was an especially gratifying visit. Good customer service makes all the difference in the world.
Had the best experience with Tomek our salesman. My friend and I came in straight from a run and he was more than willing to help us figure out all of our fit and foot pain issues. Tomek was incredibly knowledgeable and personable, we both left with new running shoes and cork inserts that feel amazing. So happy we stopped in! Felt very well taken care of and educated by this experience. My friend and I both agreed it felt like a PT session. Amazing!
Comfort comes with a price, but I was very happy with the service and my new shoes. Staff is very knowledgeable and helpful. Now I'm starting my journey pain free! Edit* I'm now a repeat customer! Staff is just as helpful as the first time I walked through the door plus my plantar fasciitis is gone and can now walk and stand comfortably! Absolutely love my Hoka shoes and just bought hiking boots for our upcoming backpacking trip here!
All the people that work there are very kind and very knowledgeable. I went in there to find a pair of running shoes because I have incredibly flat feet and Jen helped me find a great pair of shoes for running. They are pricy but they are the same price as competitors. They have a bunch of different insoles for all types of shoes. I would recommend bringing the shoes you wear or are trying to get fitted for because it helps out a lot.
I walked in to this store to get orthotic inserts for my boots. The salesman spent at least twenty minutes with me, explaining the different types and helping me find new options when the first couple were uncomfortable. He eventually found me a set that felt good and were half the price of the fancy ones. Two months later, the inserts still look like new, my shin splints are greatly diminished, and I will definitely be coming back!
I've been coming here for years. High quality footwear for Men and Women. They have a good selection of American and European brands. The staff is very nice and knowledgeable. Most of them have been working there for years. They will measure your feet and fit you carefully. I always buy an orthotic insert with my new walking shoes. It makes walking much easier on my flattened arches. Also they have a great fashion shoe section.
I bought a pair of walking shoes which turned into a torture. The sales expert was so sure of his knowledge and tremendous feet experience that I was rolling my eyes every 5 minutes as he was throwing comments like: well you don't know that, I know it. I respect when someone teaches you but just puzzled when one "bullies" you with his " expertise". Finally I got the shoes and I am sorry but probably I wouldn't come back here.
Great selection and personalized service. We've been coming here for years. When my teenager was told by his pediatrician that he had flat feet and would benefit from additional support, we brought him to On The Run. He was given an assessment and recommended orthotic inserts. He's been amazed with how much better his feet feel. Every time we visit, we walk away impressed with the professionalism and dedication of the staff.
Great 5/5 if you get the correct staff to help. One of them is super pushy, rude and will nearly force you to purchase the shoe she tells you to. I have foot issues and usually they are great! I can jog without pain. Last itme this lady talked me into one pair and they suck! Of course the pain started after jogging in them for two weeks so I can't return them. Only okay cause it needs to be great everytime with every staff.
I don't think it's news to anyone how great the personal, unusually patient and efficient service is at this store, which I discovered only today - having stayed away until now, suspecting higher prices than at less specialized places. Service was amazing, but the real surprise came after I discounted the high-price suspicion, bought a pair of New Balance 856 for tennis, came home, and checked on Amazon: SAME PRICE!
I love this store! Just enough shoes to have excellent choices and not so many that I was overwhelmed. The guy that helped me (don't remember his name but he's a former volleyball player), but he was super knowledgeable and so speedy that despite the number of people he was waiting on, he got me three different shoes to choose from and out the door (with new running shoes) in under 15 minutes. Excellent service. :)
Jen was so incredibly helpful, knowledgable and kind! She really listened to me and figured out what I needed to end the pain I have been experiencing in my arches and toes. I love being active so I was worried about the amount of discomfort I was feeling after a workout. Thanks to Jen, I am no longer experiencing any pain and my feet feel great! Jen's excellent customer service turned me into a loyal customer :)
Loved our experience with Zoe here! My boyfriend is big into hiking and getting into running, but historically hasn’t invested in quality athletic shoes. Zoe spent a long time making sure he got the exact right pair of shoes, which fit great and will see lots of roads, trails, and mountains. On top of it, Zoe had some great recommendations for local runs we’ll try before the end of our vacation!
I entered the store and was not greeted or assisted at all. I had to seek out an employee who was not welcoming. Seemed to not want to be bothered with me. I do not know what customer service everyone else is talking about because I received subzero of it. Blessing in disguise because I found 2 pairs of cute, comfortable walking shoes for half the price at Macy's Serramonte Mall in Daly City!
I don't think I've ever had a retail experience quite like the one I had at On the Run. The employees were knowledgeable, helpful, and usefully opinionated, and the process - despite being immeasurably more thorough than any shoe fitting I had ever experienced - took barely half an hour. I cannot recommend this store enough, whether you're buying running shoes, boots, or just walking shoes.
This place is incredible! I felt like I was treated like royalty, Joe took care of me and my shoe needs the moment I walked in. 30 mins later I walked out of there with a brand new pair of sneakers that had the perfect fit and are so comfy. I don’t think I’ll be buying shoes anywhere else in SF. If you want stellar service, caring expertise and the best options for your feet, shop here!
MJ is a foot guru! I came in looking for running shoes and he made sure to measure and analyze my feet / way of walking to find the perfect pair of shoes for me. The shoes felt like they were made for me - so comfortable and supportive! Shoes aren’t just about the length they’re also about the fit! I learned so much about running shoes and I can’t wait to break them in :) Thank you MJ!
Great service here. This is not a place to buy the latest and trendiest shoes. This place specializes in matching you to a more comfortable and functional shoes that fits you personally. They check your gait and can recommend the right type of shoe for you. If you don't like their selection at the very least you will find out the type of shoe you should be wearing for your condition.
I just bought Brooks Addiction Walker shoes at On the Run and had an absolutely fantastic experience trying on and learning about what shoes might work best for the over pronation on my feet. Tim, at the store, measured my feet and helped me try on multiple pairs of shoes until I was completely satisfied with my purchase. Highly recommend the store and a big thank you to Tim!
The only place I purchase shoes in San Francisco. I came in after not visiting for three years and MJ remembered me, helped me figure out what shoes I needed, and even somehow got me a discount. I was in and out with new shoes (and less foot pain) in less than 10 minutes. Shout out to MJ- your passion for what you do shines through in the way you care for your customers.
I got the very best and most valuable advice and found the perfect-fitting running sneaker + insert thanks to MJ. He dedicated at least 45 minutes to finding the right shoe based on my needs and helping me understand what to pay attention to, what kind of support, etc.. Super professional, experienced, and kind - I very highly recommend this store and its staff!
These guys are experts for feet! I've sent time of friends and family to get fitted and get comfortable. They have lots of styles, everything from sandals to hiking and running. They spend time with you and make sure you get the right shoe and fit. There's really no place like it! And, their sister store around the corner, City Shoes, has super stylish shoes.
On the Run shoes give me the support and freedom I need to live the life I want to live, and enjoy the process. And it’s all thanks to their master-craftsman customer service, built on focus, experience, wisdom, and, most of all, care. They take pride in making sure people get what they need to enjoy their best-possible lives with comfort and empowerment.
Outstanding - not only great selection of shoes and boots but the service is fantastic - Joe and Joey went above and beyond in making sure I was fitted properly (they are very knowledgeable about problem feet). I had to return a pair of shoes and inserts and they made the transaction easy and comfortable - I was impressed and very appreciative.
I've gone my entire life wearing shoes that don't fit! MJ took the time to measure my foot and explain what it looked like. I've been wearing a 8.5 medium and I fit a 9 wide. He asked what kind of use I was looking for and found me some styles that looked great and fit like a dream. I can't recommend the service and selection highly enough.
I was passing by this store many times, but today decided to check in and get some shoes. I was so surprised that I was assigned to MJ who went to nuts and bolts about which shoes do I need to get. Wow, such a service with so professional approach I have never got in my life! Amazing MJ and the store!!! Highly recommended!!! …
Came to look at a pair of hiking boots, and the service was so imcredible! Jennifer took her time to make sure that the shoes would fit perfectly for me. Went on a 5 hour hike yesterday in Redwoods, and me feet cannot tell! The boots was so good! Would recommend anyday, especially if you are not sure what you need! They will know for you!
I came to San Francisco and took no good shoes for long walking. I felt pain and went to this shop for both new comfortable shoes. I was surprised because I got information about my feet, tips for choosing shoes and how to lace shoes correctly. This is the best customer service ever! Now I'm walking around all day and feeling OK
Best place for old fashioned fitting service and the full range of specialty orthotics. Wide range of athletic and attractive street shoes with healthy support and high quality. Widths. Smaller and larger sizes than many places. Remember what worked for you before, which helps fit when you come in again. Not cheap, but long lasting..
I came in because I was having ankle pain after long runs. The salesman listened to my problem, observed my walk/gate, and explained the root cause of the pain and sold me shoes that would help. I no longer have any ankle pain, and I feel like I know more about my feet now. I will continue to come back whenever I need new shoes!
We want to thank William Barnes for his assistance and patience with purchasing our son’s running shoes and insoles. We appreciate his humor and humanistic approach in addressing our concerns in purchasing the proper running shoes to prevent knee and hip discomfort. We had a great time. Thank you William and see you in 6 months.
Fantastic service. They're pretty busy on the weekend but were very attentive and knowledgeable. They also seem to know a lot. The prices were also very reasonable! It was very easy for them to see what would work well and I walked out with a very comfortable pair of shoes. MJ helped me out and was very friendly and a real pro.
The people who work here really know what they're talking about! They are so nice and very helpful. I'm very happy with the service and the running shoes they guided me to buy! Everyone should go to On The Run to get new athletic shoes, especially if you have feet that need extra arch support or anything other special support.
Here lives the shoe wizard, a very powerful individual referred to amongst locals as "The Manager", whom has traveled through many shoes far and wide to learn the craft and master the art of Shoe Wizardry. This house contains many high level shoe wizards. If you seek permanent solutions in life, seek the Shoe Wizard.
Great shoes great service. Employees really helped me find the trail shoe and running shoe that worked best for MY! foot. They also seemed to know more about each shoe than going to a chain store. Last if we want community stores to stay open we have to go shop at them and ditch Amazon and Zappos when possible.
I barely walked in there, I was double parked etc. My feet was hurting so bad I didn'tcare if I receiveda ticketor not. Anyway I was immediately spoken care of. How I believe have me the right inserts, for my shoes and a card to stretch my planter faciaiits. I was almost running out if there. Thanks so much.
Flat feet. Bunion. Old injuries on my left foot. Big hiker!! These guys really took the time to understand my challenges; they analyzed my gait and got me well fitted with inserts and the right shoes. They even taught me how to best tie my shoes to better accommodate my foot issues. A world of difference!
You can't be a barefoot philosophy person to go in here. But they only sell you what you need and give you a personalized fitting. The owner is gracious and funny. Highly recommended if you need foot comfort and care. Don't be surprised if they tell you to get rid of your flimsy unsupportive shoes.
Great store! Excellent service. Tomek is very skilled and he helped me get the right running shoes for my wide feet. He spent over 1.5 hours to ensure I had evaluated all the options and selected the one which was best for me. He also told me many helpful exercise for legs to help in the long run.
A big shout out to my man MJ. He knew exactly how to help my flat feet problem and found the right shoe for me. We had a good conversation and I gained so much knowledge about shoes that I didn’t know before. So if you are planning to visit this store, just find MJ and you will be very pleased!
The staff here knows exactly how to diagnose what sort of shoe is best for each person's foot type. I've always been happy with the running shoes I've been recommend. They were even able to help with my partner's foot pain by recommending specific inserts to go with a shoe in the perfect style!
As always Mark runs a great shop work a lot of time with each customer. He is really kind and knowledgeable and really trains his staff well. It's old school service. The prices reflect it though so if you need to save money is not the best place. He'll never oversell you on anything though.
After a solid week of my feet killing me at work I went in to try and find some better work shoes and after trying out a few pairs with a friendly helpful salesman Joey I left with some very nice well fitting work shoes, super clean and well stocked with everything from track shoes to formal
Just visited. Have been coming here for 10+ years. They really know what they are doing and have helped me with various foot issues over that time. Today I was helped by Jen, and she was great with her knowledge & selections. If you want your feet to be loved, not just shoed, shop here.
This is a great store with very knowledgeable staff. Even on a busy day our salesperson was attentive, took time to explain the options and made sure that the shoes we chose were the best fit possible. The shoes are not cheap but truly the knowledge of the staff is well worth it.
On The Run is an excellent shoe store! Warren is passionate about footwear and truly knows a lot about footwear specifications. Not only are they knowledgeable, they are super friendly! Always willing to go above and beyond for people! Truly genuine and care for their customers!
It took three visits but boy was it worth it. Even though the place was busy, busy, Zach, Eric and the Shoe Guru, Mark, took their time and patience to make sure I had the right fit. By the way, the second two visits were for adjustments; the first visit gave the right sneaker.
This store is incredible, and MJ was so helpful! He spent extra time with us to make sure things were feeling right, and went the extra mile to share his knowledge. My new running shoes feel great, and have made a huge difference in my shin splints. Thank you MJ + On The Run!
Store is not big, but they do offer a good selection of merchandise at reasonable prices, I'd say probably lower than REI or Sports Basement. They also carry uncommon brands from overseas. Staff is extremely corteous, which makes the shopping experience much more pleasant.
Thank you to William for fun and informative conversation and helping me with selecting some new footwear! These house sandals are doing wonders for my arches! Thank you Jenifer for helping me choose the best pair of shoes I’ve ever owned the first time I came in!!!
Dragged my hubby here for a good pair of working shoes. He felt soooo good in them that he bought 2 pairs. They don't pressure you to buy their shoes. They listen, measure your feet and try to accommodate you to their best ability. Great store. Wonderful employees.
Now I have a trusty reliable place for my semi-flat feet. Syd knows how to help people. Premium attention, full price but doesn't squeeze one on incidentals. The best shoes for my feet are here. Now I have a place in the Bay Area. Worth the trip from the East Bay.
I have been suffering from foot pain for months, I saw two different podiatrists with little improvement. The staff at On The Run helped me pick out insoles and slippers for support. My feet started feeling better in 30 minutes. Thank you so much you foot saviors.
great store, great service, took almost two hours for him to match my son with the perfect running shows. we learned a lot from him on what is the right type of shoe for him. Shoes there are very expensive. but now he has no pains from his feet when running
Was given really helpful advice on my feet and which shoes to buy to avoid pain and bunions... bought some great running and work shoes. They have a great selection of shoes but the best part is the customer service and the personalized fitting experience
Joey helped me pick out some shoes for my upcoming half marathon! Very knowledgeable guy and knew exactly what my foot problems we're from only walking a few times. I'm very satisfied with the shoes recommended to me! Will definitely come back for more.
MJ provided an amazing detailed consultation for which shoes are best fit for my feet and explained everything patiently. Very wonderful service highly recommend coming here if you’re serious about getting a pair of shoes that will work for you!
MJ is a true pro at identifying proper foot shape, sizing and support needs to recommend a shoe that helps maximize body alignment & movement. My running is night & day after switching to a different shoe structure that harnesses my foot shape.
I walked in on a whim with a friend and received great, personal customer service and advice from Eric. Truly a fantastic experience that I can't recommend enough. Very happy with my purchases and I feel like I'm caring for my body better now.
On the Run helped me 1000x more to relieve my foot pain than my Kaiser Orthopedic Surgeon did. The staff is extremely genuine, knowledgeable, and truly takes the time to find what shoes you need. Couldn’t recommend this place more!
Was told that On the Run shoes was the place to purchase quality shoes. They're a bit pricey but you get what you pay for. Excellent customer service, they allow you to walk a bit wearing the shoes, and have a good return policy.
I got a pair of Dansko from the store, fair price, excellent service. I appreciate Tim's professional help. Tim stretched the shoes to accommodate my bunions and put pads to relieve pressure. Will definitely recommend this store.
Amazing service by Tomek. He carefully analyzed my gait, asked me relevant questions and fitted me for appropriate running shoes and arch support all while sharing his valuable knowledge. I highly recommend On The Run Shoes.
Are you an under/over pronator? Have them assess your gait, and gather suggestions on which types of sneaker/shoe(s) are best-suited for you and your tippies. Informative staff, non-pushy, and overall great customer service.
Absolutely great customer service and good selection of orthopedic footwear and accessories! I always have a good experience here. The staff are knowledgeable and have more insight on my feet than my overpaid podiatrist!
I Want to give a special Thank You to MJ. He did a great job getting me the right insoles. Very knowledgeable, patient and thorough. I haven't experienced customer service like this in a while. Keep up the good work MJ!
I've been coming here to get my shoes fitted for the past 6 years. I coach a half marathon training group and they have hosted excellent shoe clinics and have fitted my team's shoes every year. Highly recommended!
Hands down best running store I’ve ever been to. The staff was incredibly knowledgeable - I’m sure they’re all fabulous but Tomek was awesome! After spending 30 minutes testing shoes, I ran home with a new pair!
