I shop at the Ray road location 85048 all the time. The staff at this location should serve as a role model for the rest of employees in the entire company. Yesenia, Conner, and Kaleb are always going out of their way to assist me with a question about the fish hobby or an item that I have a question about or an issue with. They never hesitate to stop what they are doing to assist me the customer. And they are so friendly and cool. Super down to earth. If I can say anything I think they all deserve to be recognized for all their hard work. I don't waste time writing reviews very often I just feel that these awesome Petco workers deserve it and the recognition that comes along with doing a good job. the entire staff at this location is great as well!!! I just can only remember the three names at the moment. Whatever you do, do not risk buying fish here. Despite it having a decent selection, a lot of the fish are very obviously diseased. One tank in particular had a dozen or so goldfish in it that were infested with Ich. Upon further inspection, multiple other tanks had the same issue. There were many tanks with dead fish in them, being devoured by other fish or left to rot. The aquatic plants are also in very bad shape. There is clearly not enough light or CO2 for them, and in a few of the tanks you can see snails that have invested the plants. When I asked the employee named Misty to help me, she was very rude and short with me once I pointed out the Ich. I got a lot of one word answers and was cut off on the middle of my sentences. She acted as though she was going to treat the tanks once I had pointed it out, but slammed the lids closed when I had gone to another aisle. I later overheard her mocking me with another employee. Would not recommend any sort of aquatic animals from this location.

I've been coming to this location for years 5011 E Ray Rd, Phoenix, AZ 85044. We got a new puppy and decided to go through petco we paid for it upfront 4 weeks ago and finally the trainer said 8/22/17 which I didn't know why 4 weeks later my wife called yesterday to confirm the employee had to ask the manager I believe her name was sue told us there's no class schedule on 8/22/17 at 10am. When we asked to speak to the manager she couldn't talk to us why I wished I knew. So the employee said we have to call the trainer at 6pm tonight to ask her. So went the next morning to speak to someone and guess what there was a class at 10am and sue had the nerve to say why didn't you call the trainer at 6pm. We were busy we don't sit around to wait on the trainer schedule. I asked her why didn't you or the trainer call us when you knew we called. We asked for a refund which she did but no I'm sorry for the confusion or let me see what we can do nothing. Very disappointed

I only shop here anymore because it’s the only place I can buy the scoop free kitty litter trays in person. I stopped buying other things here because you can never find an employee to help you or answer questions. Petco thrives on a model of keeping just one employee staffed and no more. The litter trays I buy are kept in the back corner by the doors to their storage area. Instead of wheeling their carts THROUGH the door and INTO their storage area, they always leave them parked IN FRONT of the shelf for the litter trays. Any employee there who reads this wondering who keeps pushing them halfway across the store, it’s me. Because you deserve it. Then once you get your item, you have to wait in line for an hour at the checkout. Because one employee. One. And the old lady at the front just decided she’s going to adop a cat. Bring a lawn chair in with you when you go.

Went to get dry dog food, upon arrival I was greeted by "droppings" on either side of the entrance. I was walking around the dog food to locate Olaf's favorite, food was in the floor and under the shelves, found the food was baffled by the price $39.99 for a 31lb bag of food? I will stick with the $32 54lb bag I usually get. So I decide to get him a toy because he deserves one. At the register the individual did not seemed concerned with the urine and what appeared to be dried blood at the base of the checkout lane, but she did seem to be interested in where my dog has received his service animal training..... as she proceede to say "hmm(with a disproving expression)". So I. Short, you would be better off going to any other pet place. I WILL NOT RETURN.

I have been coming to this place for years and the service here has always been very good. The staff have always been helpful if I ever had any questions, although it was very rare for me to ask any. Most of the time, I am in there quickly to pick stuff for my pets and leave. Please do ignore the negative reviews for this place. I saw one on here where the employees apparently were harassing and were following someone. I doubt that happened. That to me sounds like a lie for that person to seek attention; local guide or not. I read it. The lesson to learn is this: If you want good service, you need to do your part by being a good customer; not a bad one

I'm questioning this petco for working with Karen Mikus for pet adaption. Karen has disrespectful rude manners toward people and pets, I left my dog at her place for less than 10 hours and when I contacted her to get my dog back she asked for 500$ and she absolutely did nothing for the dog. When I called her she blocked me. She refused to give my dog back. Karen's behavior is affecting pets lives and I am questioning this petco for giving her opportunities to risk pets lives on making money??!!! I have contacted this petco management and they were also not happy with Karen's attitude and behavior.

I found a tick on my dogs neck, and I didn't have anything to remove it. So I called Petco on Ray Rd, and spoke with Chris. At first he couldn't find what I was looking for, but he made sure to ask the Grooming Department for assistance. They were able to steer him in the right direction and he was able to find exactly what I needed. He even put it up at the register for me so that I didn't have to go find it myself. I'm so used to people not caring, and giving up if the task wasn't quick. So I really appreciate him for doing his job. I got the tick off my dog, and we are both super happy!

Cramped little store, which is fine. Low rating because I visited today, and wanted help with fish. I walked up to the front to try to get help, because I couldn't find anyone on the floor, and the attendant disappeared into the grooming salon, and appeared to start a conversation with the groomer. It did look like they were trying to figure something out, but they didn't come back onto the floor fast enough, so I left. Also, I think some of your new goldfish have ich. I was prepared to deal with that potential in my quarantine tank, but decided I'll take my business elsewhere.

Open boxes everywhere. Rolling carts in the aisles. Male staff was nice and helpful. Only female staff wore a plastic shield, no mask. They have a big sign in front of the entrance of approved masks needed to enter the store. She asked the cashier that was checking me out about an item that was returned, “was it the Spanish lady?” Very ignorant thing to say in front of a Hispanic person. Does this make the female staff member English and not American because she speaks English?

Ryan and Rachel were both wonderful and helpful. I felt that my precious "stuff" was safely in good hands and would definitely use them again if needed! The 5x5 space was plenty but it wasn't climate controlled. Not a problem since my belongings had been in a U-Haul trailer moving across the country for two weeks. This would have rated 5 stars if it hadn't been for the bees that showed up and got into everything. Thankfully they were all dead, but even in some of the baggies?

Unfriendly and nasty people. Cashier was very rude. I tried to talk to someone about Aquarium supplies, but most had no idea and others were too busy with the "snow birds". I called up the next day and spoke with another cashier , who said "hold on" and put the phone down on the counter. AND LEFT IT THERE. I held on for 5 minutes, then she hung up the phone. I will use online fish suppliy companies for now on. Free delivery and expert chat. NEVER AGAIN PETCO, you trolls.

My new puppy needed a few toys. I love this store. Everyone is super kind and knowledgeable. I have been shopping at this one for 25 years. From buying pet rats to a pet ferrets. Boots for my dog, you name it they have the best items. I tried to buy items off Amazon and kept having to return them. No hassles and truly great staff of people to help. They also gave me a welcome package to same money for my new puppy. This is why I give them a high 5

I'm happy I got a hamster from here! Prior to this I got a hamster from pet smart, guess you could say that pet was not very smart, I tried throwing it back for him but he got very upset and tried biting my cheeks and hiding in his house, the next morning I went to show him my dance moves again and he had commited suicide! However, my hamster from Petco is very thicc and throws it back with me! Love this place!

Dakota is amazing! We just finished puppy level 1 class and are already signed up for puppie level 2. She is kind, caring, and passionate about her career and is a truly wonderful and effective dog trainer. The positive dog training environment is amazing. We will for sure be coming back for future classes and her expertise. We have notice a major improvement in our pup and look forward to classes each week.

I have unfortunately visited this store twice. Both times to buy a goldfish, should be simple enough, right? WRONG! I was told that to have a goldfish I would need a 30 gallon tank. 1 goldfish per 30 gallon tank. I'm not sure if this is accurate, but I can tell you that I'm not going to be put through an interview process to purchase a freaking goldfish. I'll be speaking to the manager of this store ASAP.

The customer service is spectacular at this location and the employees are always exceeding my expectations. Most recently, I went to Vetco to see how to treat some concerns I've had regarding my dog's nails and minor sores on her legs. This sweet girl that worked on Friday 8/16 morning helped me figure out what to do and gave me some great advice. I highly recommend this location for all your pet needs.

Good selection of dog foods. They recently rearranged the food so I had to search around and find the stuff we normally buy. They have never been out if stock. They are carrying more brands of food than most so you really can't go wrong. We keep looking for geckos when we come but they do seem to be always out? Or maybe they escaped.... Also have a good selection of fish related stuff. Good store.

I waited for about 20 minutes and then went to the from and asked if they could get someone to that department. He said he would call some. The store a Guadalupe and McClintock is convenient for us, but they never have sale items in stock. Someone always "just came in and bought us out." We were just there a half hour after they opened, they have a two day sale on store brand kitty litter, but didn't have any left. That is extremely poor management. I expect they will be closing this store soon like many others.

Honestly felt like I was interrupting the employees day by shopping here. One of them actually huffed as he had to step to the side so I could come through with my cart & $100 worth of product I was purchasing. So awkward walking around when store employees don't make eye contact with you. The bathrooms were literally brown, the Chandler Petco is muuuuch better and cleaner.

do not shop here. they mistreat their animals. guinea pigs are overcrowded and spread sickness to each other. I adpoted two males, and one had an upper respiratory infection. the chameleons had a horrible shed, because they need 50-100% humidity, but the store had their tank at 25%. when I told staff they simply blew me off. do not shop here. it promotes animal cruelty.

The Christmas merchandise were all laid out to sparkle with childhood nostalgia upon entering. I was greeted at the door by a pleasant gentlemen; who actually rung up my purchase with ease. Your merchandise sales were everything I could ask for. This location was well organized and actually smelt like pine vs pets. It was the perfect beginning to the holiday season.

The staff member who helped me treated me like an idiot and refused survive to me because my mom wasn't in the aquatic section with me and was instead in the dog treat Section. The staffer lectured me on proper ways to care for a very easy fish even thought I showed pictures of my several tanks proving I have experience. I wouldn't shop at that location ever again.

Was great I had my two dogs ( Bonnie & Clyde) groomed and had a training session with Selana, she was patient, answered all my questions and informed me on how to train them and combat a number of issues I've had with them since their adoption 6 years ago. I should have done this sooner...I really appreciated her help and insight!!

Supposedly there's no supply problem in the United States. Then why can't I find the food my dog usually eats?! Wholehearted minced chicken and gravy is my dog's favorite. Oh and petco's cool. Bought a bag of Blue Wilderness Natural Evolutionary Diet Duck Recipe dog food on 3//28/14 and by the time we got to the bottom of the bag a 12 days later I noticed it was full of black beetles. We keep our food in an airtight container, so these bugs are not something that got in there after i purchased the bag. Absolutely disgusted.

When I was in there the person helping me out refused to sell me more than 6 fish even thought I informed them I had multiple large tanks and the fish weren't All going in the same tank. Ultimately they lost me as a customer and I spend around 100 dollars a month on fish and dog products and I won't being going back I that store.

Store itself is nice and clean, obviously lots of pet stuff. Prices are meh, but no too bad. Allows did inside which is great. I didn't see any staff on the floor at all and had to walk around until I found someone to pay. I wanted help with dog harnesses and teeth cleaning products, but thought forget it, yo home to Bel Air!

Went to an adoption event today. It’s very unfortunate the rescue doing the adoptions were forcing the dogs to go to a home with another dog. We recently lost our 16 yrs old chihuahua mix and saw several babies we were interested in but because we prefer to be a one dog home a dog was unable to get a forever home.

We have 3 dogs, 5 fish, and a bird and we can always find what we need here. The fish lady is super helpful and always available to ask questions. Our Great Pyraneese puppy is in training here and the trainer Davin is awesome. We get the dogs groomed and their groomers are always accommodating and do a great job.

I have been visiting Petco for years. They have a very good selection of pet supplies for all kinds of animals. I will say that the number of available staff and the breadth of inventory has declined over the years. It is certainly not as good as it used to be, but it is still worth the trip.

Always friendly staff and able to take care of most requests. It's always a plus when stores have a saltwater fish section too! To add to that, they carry some pretty cool stuff at a decent price. Always the cheapest place to get dry stock too if you remember to price match to their website.

Prices are great. They match their online prices,too. Just show them on your smartphone. Customer service is a hit or miss. Not consistent. Associates are not friendly-don't expect to be greeted with any smiles. If something is heavy like a big bag of dog food, don't expect any help.

Asked about premixed saltwater.... the lady said very spunky "Yes we do! Its 11.99 for 5 gallons. " I said thats a lot. She said it was already ph ect. That is outrageous, every fish store in the valley sell premix salt water for about $1.00 a gallon. I will never shop here again.

It very hard to get any help in this store. I had to wait in a long line at the register to get someone's attention to help me in the fish department. They told me they would be a minute but I waited in the fish area for 15mins with no help. In the end I left and went to petsmart

I like it and always have a good experience. They have some options that PetSmart does not have especially for smaller critters like rabbits. I also like that you can bring in your dogs or cats for shots when the Vetco team is there. This is very convenient.

It's 7:12 pm and the sign says they close at 8. (Conveniently turned around to be harder to see) and an employee wat he'd me walk toward the door and hurried and locked it doing the "cut your throat" "all done" motion. Way to go guys. Won't be back here.

Most people don't realize the cats and dogs here now come from Rescues. No puppy mills. Lots of wonderful cats and kittens of all ages up for adoption every Saturday. Already fixed and given shots, microchipped. We adopted both our babies from here!

Friendly staff, but some of their products not quality. Hamster water feeder leaks badly and employees there admit it. And often it takes a long time to get crickets. I go to persmart more often because it’s much faster service for crickets

Do not get your pet vaccinated here, go to a real vet. After two visits they denied the vaccination service and refused to provide a reason, wasting two full days, and giving us no additional information. Very poor customer service.

One of the few Petcos that I know have a salt water fish section. I find that they have comparable prices to dedicated reef stores. I've gotten a handful of salt water fish from here and was happy with my purchase.

They started carrying the 5.8oz Royal Canin Wet Food cans!!! A way better deal than the 3 oz cans. I am very pleased. Also, there were tons of dogs in there and who doesn’t like seeing dogs when running errands?!

This is a smaller store and sometimes hard to find what you need. They've packed a lot into it, so feels cramped when trying to negotiate aisles, carts, people and dogs. Staff is always friendly and helpful.

I almost always get my dog groomed here. They do a good job. Once in a while they forget her nails but they are great about doing them if you come back in and let them know.

Took my puppy here for their Saturday puppy socializing hour. He loved meeting new friend. The trainer was very good at making sure big and small puppies played nicely.
