Good afternoon. My experience at the headquarters 5206 W 38 St Indianapolis IN 46254 planet fitness, has been unpleasant, on 09/25/2023 at around 4pm I arrived at the gym asking for help from the lady who was in customer service at the reception of the premises , to change my membership and become a black card user. this in order to take my son to the gym as a guest. It was supposed to be a pleasant experience, since it is the first time my son went to a gym, but it was quite the opposite. The lady who was in customer service did not pay attention to us and was also in a bad mood and addressing us with a bad attitude, it took us almost 1 hour to make the change in the membership because the lady in question ignored us (everything is recorded on camera ) When I was finally able to register my son as a guest, the lady was upset because I told her that this was the help I was asking for. I suggested that if she didn't like her job, she could leave it. The lady immediately told me that she wanted me to I left the premises and he refused me because I am a planet fitness customer and pay to use the facility. The lady in question called the police, claiming that Planet Fitness is a private property and she is in charge of that property and she does not want me to be there, just like that, the police showed up at the site and asked me in front of my son and all the people who were in the place, that I must vacate the facility since it is private property. I tried to explain what happened to the police and even though they agreed with me, they couldn't do anything other than ask me to vacate the place "because it is private property" and she is in charge. I told them that I agreed, but that I wanted a refund of my membership since it seems unfair to me that Planet Fitness charges me a monthly fee to use the facility and then they do not allow me entry to the premises, the police spoke with the lady from customer service telling her to talk to her supervisor since I was right, and the lady responds that there is no supervisor, that she is the only one in charge and she doesn't want me to be there. All this was happening under the eyes of my little son who was scared and the rest of the people who occupied the gym. Finally I had to leave there, no one is responsible for the money that Planet Fitness still charges me every month and I can't use the facility, my son is afraid to go back there... otherwise it happened to me at VASA FITNESS GYM, and in L.A. Fitness GYM where they treated me very cordially, with respect and even gave me a tour inside the place to show me all the services they offer.

As a new member, not really impressed with the cleanliness of the place at all. So before you ask me to bring it to management attention both times I visted I did! It seems this is an obvious management and employee problem! Interestingly from watching it seems you just have what I call counter/assistant staff meaning I never have yet on all three visits see anyone leaving the counter picking up a rag, broom, trash, going to attend to restrooms which both times I complained about the conditions of restroom. My response was ok? Okay what? How about we will attend right to that, or will get that taken care of? Being in management 20 plus years and still. This is a poorly run establishment. You might want to start all over with employees. The larger black girl working there and behind counter is NOT friendly and lacks the basic fundamentals of customer service skills. Sadly, my first 3 visits have not provided a good example or have lived up to even decent/quality expectations. I think also there seems to to be a problem not paying attention to let's just say some unmentionable types roaming/facilities who have not truly checked in or guests of others using facilities! Lighting is awful for a gym environment. Thinking of already cancelling if I do not see improvements and going back to martial arts for exercise! Get your management and associates in check!

By far one of the worst gyms I ever decided to join they lie about fees rude and dishonest staff I attempted to cancel my contract which I thought that they didn't have I thought you could just cancel at any time WRONG. Once I talked with a young lady she told me ok it's canceled charges had still come out of my account the next month. I called again and was told to come in because there were forms to sign so I did with someone named prince while I was there I guess I was an inconvenience to them with how impatient they were but not forgetting I'm the one being constantly charged for a gym I don't use and that is useless for me so the next month charges again of course so I call again and spoke to someone by the name of Heather who lied and said that she was a manager and was handling everything and going to look for my forms of cancellation and shell give me a call back which never happened once speaking with someone I was told they don't have a manager by that name everyday I call I get lies and the run around and no manager is ever available or just stepped away let them tell it. It is unacceptable and rude and an inconvenience I think this is a horrible place. join at your own risk.

They never use the lunk alarm. Even though there were guys there that would yell and scream when lifting. The guys working there were more worried about flirting with girls at the gym then doing much of anything else. I did like their equipment and atmosphere. However, the biggest complaint I have was when we cancelled because we moved out of the area. They told us that my wife and I both had to come in to cancel. My wife had moved before me for a rotation for med school. She was not able to come in. They told us that we could mail in letters approving the closure of our accounts. We did that. Half a month went by and I called to make sure they cancelled the account. I was told that they had not received anything. Convenient. I was going back into the city to finalize some stuff with work and stopped by and signed paperwork to cancel the account. They told me that it would take a couple days because they were switching systems on their computers. The account was eventually closed after they charged us for the next months fees. I will never go back. What a way to screw someone over. Thanks Planet Fitness. I will be posting on every site I can.

False advertising!! Refusing refund! Please beware! I have health issues & signed up for membership a few months back at my doctors urging. I chose planet fitness on W. 38th st because of the " no commitment membership" they advertise...LIES!! I paid the initial $21 but my health got worse & I ended up in hospital, unable to use the membership. It slipped my mind until I received a notification from my bank today, I was charged another $31. That's $52 gone & I never stepped 1 foot in the place. I called today & spoke with a rude gentleman named Bryson Arnold, who claimed to be the owner/ manager. No customer service skills whatsoever, he talked over me & refused to listen or compromise. My co worker received a refund from PF for a similar situation so the fact that I was dismissed & addressed so poorly is not acceptable. I was told too bad, come in & cancel but there won't be any refunds & there's no one else to speak to. Horrible experience! I plan on making a formal complaint but wanted to warn potential customers! Consider carefully before you sign up, if life happens, PF says you're SOL!

I've been going to the Carmel location more often because it's close to where I work and generally felt better managed. Decided to give this location closer to him another shot over the weekend, and I don't think I'll be going again. Way too many things were out of order. One of the limited number of stairclimbling machines was broken. The convenient bottle filling station wasn't operational. One of only three showers was also out of order. And even after I told them three weeks ago that the hair dryer in the men's locker room was not working, there isn't even a sign saying that it's out of order, so I assume they don't plan on fixing it anytime soon. That leads to another issue. The staff seems completely disinterested in solving these issues. There were no apologies or anything. They just said okay, and I'm assuming they didn't write anything down in a maintenance log. I'm disappointed, but at least I can still take advantage of the much better location.

I cannot tell you how happy I am to be back in a gym. Before Covid I had a membership for decades. I wanted to join the JCC but their rates.... I have been a member for nearly 2 months and really like PF on 38th Street. I enjoy the atmosphere. It is relaxed and courteous. Surprisingly it also seems to not be a meat market. People are there to workout. PF mission seems to be reality. I was impressed to find out that LifeFitness owns PF and they use their best equipment. Sturdy industry stuff. What's more is a lot of the equipment generates its own power which makes my brain happy. They encourage members to clean after themselves and most do. Cleaning supplies are available and plentiful. The staff is nice and responsive. The space is mostly clean... where I notice things are the floors around the perimeter. I'm comfortable. I enjoy using the water massage bed afterwards. All the equipment always is working as expected. Overall I'm very happy.

Okay, I hate to do this. I'm really sorry to do this, but I've been to Planet Fitness locations all over the country, and this is BY FAR the grossest, nastiest, dirty, I'm surprised I didn't see a roach, I don't even wanna touch anything, moldy, unkept Planet Fitness I've ever witnessed. I wasn't greeted when I walked in. I used the bathroom first. Trash was pouring out of the bin. Lockers were a mess (and also see through, so zero privacy). There was trash all over the bathroom floors. Cleaning supplies were left out in the bathroom too (obviously not being used). Supply closet doors were open and everything was thrown around and laying on the floor. The sinks were filthy and a soap dispenser was broken. The showers were covered in mold and smelled like 3 day old musty pee. The water fountain was moldy and had white residue covering the ENTIRE thing. I didn't feel comfortable touching anything so I had to buy water. I feel gross.

The is good for working out, if you can get pass the people mainly hanging out here to get dates because they are just hanging around and not working out much. Women come in barely wearing any clothes and the men so distracted they don't work out. So for a woman coming in the gym it's hard to work out without men starting at you. Also if you try to cancel your membership here, it's next to impossible. When you sign up for the gym, you can sign up online. When you cancel you have to send them a letter. I sent an email in December asking to cancel my membership but instead I was charged twice in December and then two weeks later again. I wrote to them again in January asking them to cancel my account. There seems to be a break down somewhere because I'm not the only one who has had issues cancelling my gym membership.

This planet fitness used to be a very good place to come in the last couple years it has went downhill big time the place is always filthy they hardly ever open when they're supposed to open it used to be a 24-hour gym now supposedly they open at 6:00 a.m. that's if anybody shows up to open the doors so they have a new Vasa fitness opening up it's supposed to open in first of August on West 38th Street I will definitely be going to that gym instead of planet fitness. I hate to change gyms because you see a lot of the same familiar faces there every day and you get to know the people but planet fitness gives me no other alternative because I'm tired of messing with them

This is not my normal Planet Fitness that I go to on the regular, but I was pleasantly surprised the one time I was on this side of town a few weeks ago and came in for a workout. The workout spaces were overall very clean, and the machines I used at this location looked like they were either very new or kept up very well, which I can't say about every planet fitness location I've been to. The men's locker room was average in terms of cleanliness, could use some more bench space and feels a bit crowded. Showers were reasonably clean in my opinion. Overall I though this location was quite good.

I was trying to speak with the managers about an issue I was having, but I was brushed off by both Monsteserrat and Stephanie. Stephanie even stated she did not want to be bothered with a phone call and she is the lead manager of this facility. I was told they could not give me the corporate number and there was nothing they could do to help me. I am on the phone with corporate now and they seem more interested in helping. This facility is also dirty, I went once & have not been back since. The energy in that place is terrible. Membership CANCELED.

The gym is less clean and the hours seem to change every other week. The current staff is friendly. They also at least added hangers in the women's locker rooms as well. The gym is just in bad maintenance, some parts of floor have air bubbles, and equipment needs to be replaced. Only reason I have kept membership because I am able to go to any location (which is unfortunately ALWAYS out of my way) I guess the "urban"areas get the least quality and concern because I've been to other locations in the city and they were like night and day!

Why post a sign that says masks are "REQUIRED" and not make sure the guests are wearing a mask? When I asked the front desk later at your 10th Street facility her response was "Marion County said we have to post the sign but then we can do whatever we want". Really? Safe Zone? How careless! Canceled my membership today and I won't be back. I am also reporting you to the Marion County Health Department and the Mayor's Action Center. Do your part to help get this pandemic under control and make sure your facilities are safe for ALL.

Fix the gigantic purple clock that has been dead for at least two months. Tighten the sloppy cables on the weight machines. These two could be fixed in a half hour. -1⭐ There is one ab machine here and zero good ab machines. Yet there are 4 of the groin machines . This of has the most outdated equipment out of the 4 I've visited this summer. There isn't a complete set of dumbbells or curl bars on the racks I've been here at least 7 times and nope. Nobody is using them they're not there. -1 ⭐ Other than that it's ok.

My mother and I recently switch from L.A. Fitness to Planet Fitness in January, and we absolutely love this location. We are always greeted when we come in and feel genuinely welcomed. The layout of the gym is perfect for our routine we do together, and for $10 a month it really can't be beat. Even in the short time we've been going here we can tell they regularly fix and care for the equipment, and keep the amenities clean as well. Thank you for your hard work 38th Street Planet Fitness! Effort and care never go unnoticed. <3

This is the worst location to go to in the city. I’ve been a member here for a while and there are times when I get there in the morning when they are suppose to be open and they aren’t. Zero communication as to why they are closed or if they will open at all. Also it’s terribly crowded, always. People hog machines and weights are scattered everywhere. This morning I pulled up at 7 am and guess what, it was closed. Ridiculous and sloppy. No way to run a business.

I just wanted to say thank you to the staff at this location! I was in town for a gig and I was running late but I wanted to get a workout in before hand and the young blonde lady and a young man by the name of Marcus, I believe, stayed open until 10 minutes after the closing so I could get a shower because I didn't know they closed. I am from Louisville and all of our locations are 24 hours. Thanks again!!!! I apologize for not remembering the young lady's name.

I tan here daily! I love my planet fitness service team. Everyone knows my face and makes sure that I’m always happy. I do think the tanning beds could use some maint. Like fan vents in the stand up need cleans. Some of the touch pads do not work correctly. And just overall cleanliness on the beds. That would be my only suggestion. Oh yeah and I did have a moth fly out of the fan vent on me in bed 6 the other day. Scared me half to death.

I like that they are open till very late. The app tells you how crowded it is so you don't have to go there when traffic is high. Rules are in place to ensure all equipment used is cleaned. The environment is adequate for its purpose. There is always music to keep up your spirit. Everyone is like a one small community with same goal. Truly a no judgment zone. Staff is always professional, courteous and respectful. Never had a problem going here.

Place has lots of broken equipment and they never replace anything. Things stay broken for long periods of time. There are none of the updates that have gone to most of the other planet fitnesses. Out of all of the planet fitness locations I've been to this is the worst one. Doesn't seem like the employees have much control over the problems, as they are very nice and helpful, which is very sad to see. Needs quality of life updates.

I came in to this location trying to downgrade and change my home gym. Keep in mind I called ahead and asked if I could do this process over the phone she asserted she needed to see my ID so I came in. I think her name is cherry was very snappy and unwelcoming I could hardly finish a sentence without being interrupted. Didn’t even ask to see my ID, so why can’t you do this over the phone? If you don’t like your job get a new one

I walked in this morning 11/13/18 @ 550am, motivated to work out and join planet fitness. The man at the desk was motivated to sign me up, then the women working told me I needed to come back at 7am if I wanted to join. She told me the gentlemen shift was about to end and she was busy. I told them.not to worry about it and headed to the gym at work. Sorry planet fitness, non motivated workers dont work for me!

This gym is trash! Looking at the reviews makes me even more mad. There have been reviews from 2 years ago that there's no hot water in the showers. We'll I was there last week and there's still no hot water! There was blood on a rag on the floor and urine around the toilets. All the while the owner responds saying to bring it to the staffs attention! He/she clearly knows and does NOTHING about it

The showers never have hot water! It makes it hard to use my membership when you can't shower to go back to work. I work out on my lunch and this is a problem that has been happening for years. It's not as big of a deal in the summer, but in the winter a forty degree shower is not ideal. At least warm people that they can't shower at the door before they get sweaty and then head back to work.

Alot of broken treadmills. If a stationary bike breaks it will stay that way for at least a month. Most of the tv screens are off. Half the cleaning stations are usually empty. The other day there wasnt an employee at the desk for about 10 minutes... we just walked in without scanning and jumped on a machine. You get what you pay for. I'd rather pay $100/mo if it means equipment is reliable.

I have been working out at Planet Fitness for over a year. I think that atmosphere is very conducive to working out. The gym is clean and the staff are very courteous. My favorite manager, "Alabama" is very nice and professional and is involved with the clients. He is very encouraging and we my mom and I miss he is always very encouraging to us to get back in the gym. I love Planet Fitness.

For the love of God please clean the men's bathroom. I'm a commercial driver and I stop at as many gyms as i can. This one is hands down the worse for bathrooms I've seen. Showers filthy yet cold. Water temp never warmed up. I ran all 3 showers for some time and nope, not one got hot. Sinks and stalls were disgraceful to say the say the least. Please please improve asap

This gym is fantastic. There is plenty of equipment and it's super spacious. It is very clean and sanitizing wipes are provided and handy. Using the hydro-massage chairs to wrap up a workout is so soothing. There are members from all walks of life here and everyone has been nothing short of friendly. Staff is visible at all times and ready to assist if needed.

Overall I'm satisfied with this PF. I know it can get busy and difficult to keep clean. I think the staff does a good job in that regard on the interior. However, the exterior is filthy. The parking lot is NEVER clean and presents a very poor image of your brand. You only get one chance to make a good first impression. Please clean your lot on a regular basis.

The facility doesn't carry loose barbells or platforms but it has a good selection of other equipment. The memberships are cheap but they usually only let you bring your guest in, not let them use your benefits aside from the main floor. The staff is always nice & respectful. The mens locker room tends to smell atrocious 24/7, so bring deodorant.

I thought this place would be too Ghetto being that it is on 38th street. But to my surprise it was not, is really great! The staff is great and when I saw the cleaning staff using Q-Tips to clean the machines. I was very impressed. Great place to keep up with your New Years Resolutions.... I have lost 5 pounds. If I can do it you can too.

They do bad business. They over charge and when you call to get a refund nobody can help. Do yourself a favor and save your money and find a better gym. The equipment be down anyways. I regularly come here to workout. I usually don't come until late because between like 5 to 9... crowded!!! To the point where, you really standing in line to be next to lift... But once I get there at like 10... nice and calm. Machines be open. Everyone nice as far as helping you. No one really messed up your workout flow...

Even though time has not allowed me visit the gym as frequently as I would have love ro, the few days I visited was very good. It was like a first time in the gym for me but a young man (Josh) was putting me through and did a good job Has good knowledge of first timers because I left the gym with smiles and had no after pain.

I am paying for a 24 hour membership, but not receiving 24 hour access to the facility. The gym for the past two years has been opening at 6am. I understand the pandemic but either make the gym a 24 hour facility again or change the cost of the membership. Of things don’t asap I will be looking into other gym facilities!!!

Exceptional workout equipment, new, powerful yet easy to use. Great northwest Indy location centrally between I-465 and I-65. The staff is polite. The downside to this location is women’s bathroom- lots of dust and filthy toilets. I have been to location many of times and one bothersome thing remains- those nasty toilets.

They don't have any trainer or management. But the receptionist is a nice helpful young man, the place seems clean and compared to other PF units it has a decent size. If you are thinking of become a member please choose a different unit where you can find a actual help with a trainer and of course a place with a manager.

Love planet fitness just wish they had 5-6 smith machines because I’m tired of women doing hip-thrust for 30min to an hour long. Other than that it’s clean, not really overly populated…… oh yea need dumbbells that go to to 100-120lbs and more 45lbs plates for smith machines and hammer leg press. Please and thank you!!

This place is terrible at holding employees responsible for showing up on time. Can't tell you how many times iv shown up when they are suppose to be open ready to workout and they aren't open yet. I'm turning my membership off as of today and going to set my membership up with LA fitness. Planet fitness is a joke.

You get what you pay for. Equipment is good. But management is bad. There are several attendees that are disgusting. From not washing their hands after using the bathroom, not putting equipment back on the rack, coughing without covering their mouths, not wiping equipment. Management doesn’t do anything about it

I travel to different PF gyms from state to state. This is the worst. No hot water in the showers. Mens locker room warrants a hazmat suit. Its obvious they don't care about the community it serves or the people patronizing their business. If they was a legal route to take against them I would!

Ashlee D is an example of the first contact for any porfessional business. She was very helpful, kind, and professional. She need to be the training person for planet fitnesses. Cleaning staff female and male were cleaning at all the time. They are doing an excellent job. Thank you very much.

I justuI moved here. I was a Gold's gym girl. New to Planet Fitness, but so far it's cool. It's always very clean, staff is kind and helpful. Wish their was an outside area for tires and battle ropes. Towels, and water fountains would be nice as well. Overall no compliant just suggestions.

Nice gym, friendly patrons. I visit a lot of Planet Fitness gyms. This is one of the most friendliest. I. Could only give 3 stars, because some of the free weights were missing far as dumbbells. And some equipment needed connections to attach the bars. Other than that, very friendly staff.

Just drove 20 hours and wanted a hot shower to start my day and get back on the road. Guess what! No hot water. If this gym can't do something as simple as providing hot water, I question their ability to properly maintain their fitness equipment. The girl at the front desk was very kind!

Enjoy coming to this particular Gym ,Met a lot of people over the years the staff know you by name , But when it come to hours of operation that’s when it goes downhill at times the gym don’t open on time and those of us that are a schedule would like to come and workout and leave …

The Mega Beds at this location need alot of work. Bed 7 is broke. And bed 6 has no fans. i havent tanned in 3 months and went 12 minutes with no problem. It barely looks like i even went tanning. If ur gonna charge more for tanning. The least u could do is take care of them

I went there since they open. Just nasty. Bathroom never cleaned. Soap out in Bathroom .I can honestly say today Wednesday January 19th is my last day going there. If board of health walked in they shut place down. They have staff but the place is never clean. Good luck

Planet Fitness is a no thrills gym, but it gets the job done. The lady's restroom does not have no touch sinks which is not good during this pandemic. I don't see any team members walking around cleaning. Members are to clean before and after using the equipment.

They are awful and the customer service is terrible. I needed assistance with my account and tried talking with the employees, and later the manager,but they couldn’t fix a thing. The male bathrooms are disgusting and looked like they are cleaned once a week.

Handles your basic needs. I wish they’d eliminate half the cardio equipment that isn’t being used and replace them with weight machines. Double the hammer strength smith machines. Need 3 more leg press machines. More weight machines in general are needed.

Mens showers are cold every week. Spoke to staff and they are aware as it seems like a joke. Been going on for 6+ months. Paper towel dispensers are broke or not even on the wall. Locker room has bugs flying around. Needs to be consistently cleaned.

I am upgrading my review due to the clear change in management and how seriously they've taken their responsibilities. They have fixed and upgraded equipment over the last two years and it's had a significant impact on the the overall experience.

Average facility overall. The problem I have is with others in the gym leaving a mess all over. Snack wrappers, empty bottles, and don’t put equipment away. I will be trying other locations for the remainder of my trip. This place is gross!

DeAndre is my favorite person to walk into here. He's friendly, informative, and fun to talk to on general. He remembered my bestie and I after only being there once. Our experience with him alone makes us excited to be apart of this gym.

No problem truck parking behind building. Tanning is low level old and outdated badly. Not keeping up with other PF locations across the country. But fully equipped a d friendly staff plus well lit locker rooms mirrored throughout.

I started at this location. People are friendly. Like the new equipment. Only thing is bathroom always one toilet broke or no toilet paper . Love the hydro and message chairs. Always free space to use equipment when I go.

Everyone is usually really nice and friendly except for only one employee that ruins the whole mood and I've seen her ruin others the same way she did me. While everyone is great she just doesn't mix like everyone else.

This company is a scam!! They will let you set your account up online but force you to come In to cancel. I REGRET EVER SIGNING UP FOR THIS MEMBERSHIP! Not convenient at all. Not customer friendly. Would not recommend.

This location acts like they have given up completely. The person at the desk said zero words to me. There is zero paper towel holders, everything is sitting on the trash cans. Also no one is dusting/cleaning at all.

My wife and I love going here late nights. Always quite always clean plenty of equipment. They could use a little more variety of equipment though. I always feel welcome and it truly feels like a judgement free zone.

This gym was awesome! The employees great and the facility was extremely clean. I really liked that it was very open as well. Also, the hydro message is worth every penny I pay for with my black card membership.

Gym is usually pretty clean and they have good customer service. It's a great gym but I do wish the weight machines were newer and the lighting was better. Overall it's the most affordable gym at $10 a month.

People be careful. I visited November 15 for a fun workout and then sombody broke my car's window and stole my wallet. I ask to move my membership to another gym or get a refund and had no answer.

One of the worst showers I've experienced in the franchise. And I travel all over the country. There is no attention be given to the men's locker room...whatsoever. Absolute filth

Older gym. Very dusty. Bathroom needs attention. The whole gym needs some TLC. A lot of gyms have the newer equipment too.

Clean, not really crowded, a good variation of machines, you clean each machine after you use it. Staff is knowledgeable.

Visiting here for the weekend. Clean gym. Great equipment. If they opened at 5am, I would def leave xsport.

I love my gym. Always clean. The staff is nice and there aren't too many people. Judgment free.

Nice quantity and variety of equipment... some of which, however, are not well maintained.

The showers need upkeep urinals were broken. Not as nice as other locations I've visited
