Such a bad experience!! First, they are NOT located in Heathrow airport and offer no shuttle to take you to their rental desk. They mention some "free" buses but there is only 1 every hour so if you miss it you have to wait for 1h. Our rental was scheduled at 10pm. We exited the airport (terminal 4) at 9pm and looked for a way to get to the rental desk. No shuttle to take us there. No bus as it was one every hour and we had just missed it. No Heathrow express to bring us to terminal 2, closer to Nobel drive. No cab and no Uber wanted to take us there. We tried everything!! After 50mn looking for a solution, it was almost the time the next bus to come by. We rang Practical car and Van to let them know we were on our way and would get there 10-15mn past 10pm, to make sure they were still opened. And they told us they would charge £50 if we arrive after 22:00 !! Twice the price of the rental. After struggling to find (in vain!) a way to get to their rental desk, we were shocked to hear we had to pay that for 10mn delay. Never seen a car rental company that require you to show up at the very minute your rental starts. We were fooled - the £50 charge was not written in the conditions of the rental, we had not been made aware of that. we finally had to cancel the rental as the bus... finally did not show up. So they are simply thieves, lying about the fact that they are located in the airport. Take any other regular rental company - they all have desks inside the airport and free shuttles to take you to their rental car parks!!

Worst experience of my life. Hired a 9 seater transporter for a family weekend holiday and on the motorway we got a flat tyre. We were stranded on the motorway for 2 hours with my elderly grandparents. We were shocked to find out that there was no spare after the staff at the office confirmed there was a spare and it was ticked on the list. We called the AA roadside assistance and they were shocked aswell that there was no spare and the flat could not be repaired as they were already damaged (The staff told us they were new tyres). We tried calling the office and there was no out of hours service which left us stranded for the entire the whole journey. Finally after trying to contact the office and sending emails we got someone at the office they told us they could not help us and we had to BUY OUR OWN SPARE TRYE. We spent 200 pounds on a tyre we were never going to see again. We had a horrible holiday and had to stay in a hotel which we were not compensated for. In fact we were not compensated for anything and when we went to the office the manager was nothing but rude and said he could not do anything but would take it up to higher authorities. It has been 3 months and we still have not got any reply. The one good thing I have learnt from this experience is never hire a car without a spare tyre and NEVER hire form Practical Car and Van rental again.

I turned up to discover that my £130 of van hire had rented me a 7 year old Ford transit that had done 90,000 miles, it had a very noisy front wheel barring, a flashing heating coil light, a bent drivers door that whistled loudly at 70mph, a chipped and cracked front windscreen and a built in rev limiter that meant you could only do 60mph up hill on a motorway!! It took over ten minutes to do the walk over on damages because of all the dents and scratches and then when I asked about the flashing coil light the young lad told me he’d serviced it last week himself and it was fine (very reassuring), and when I called from the motorway to explain the front wheel barring was making a hell of a racket every time you turned left they told me it would be fine (again very professional). But it get’s worst, as the van had not been cleaned when I picked it up and they insisted that I clean it before returning it or I would be charged a valet fee. And when I needed to drop the van off an hour after they closed I was told I would lose my deposit of £500 as I would be in breach of the rental agreement. I will never rent from this company again and would urge people to do the same.

Not the biggest van for the money, had to try and guess the fuel use, would be much simpler if it was a full tank out and a full tank back in, but then I guess that's not in the company interest. Service was okay, but the chap left out a lot of valuable information, plus the employee was not very good at verbal communication, English not being his first language was very apparent. Lots of misleading information about the return left us with a nasty charge we weren't counting on. The van was clean and in good order, although not very big it did the job required. I would not jump to use this company again , think I'll check out the other rental companies before I rent a van again. Check the information they're giving you is correct before you rent and vehicle from here.

I have hired from this company twice now. It was recommended to me by a Electrician friend. The first hire was a large family car (brand new Volkswagen Passat). It had only 100 miles on the clock. It was smart, and fully loaded. It was a bargain price, with no added extra's. The fuel is to be returned as you pick it up with. The second was for a 9 seater vehicle. It was a older vehicle, but met our needs perfectly. It was clean, tidy and completely road worthy. I will certainly be using this company again. Their vehicles are a greatly competitive price (often a lot cheaper than competitors like for like), with a great range to choose from. The employees are helpful, informative and professional. I will certainly always choose them for future hires.

Very Bad Service, book a Luton Van on Monday for Wednesday, told not a van, just Long wheel base, so change plans and rebook for Friday for a Luton, so arrive Friday morning at 7am opening time, Paul (polish men) the employer told me is not a Luton Van, only a long wheel base or if you don't want go hire somewhere else, I was stack, I don't had a choice and took the van a Mercedes long wheel base, on the dash appear a engine error, it was no power on the van, they completely mess up and ruin my day, return the van same day could not complete my work and then the owner was there and told me I was a bad person and not comeback to his store, I was complaint for bad service. No comments, Very bad Service will never go back to Practical

Having been turned down by a more global franchise saying, “You can’t expect us to be open on a Bank Holiday”, I was very happy to find ‘Practical Car and Van Rental”. “Of course sir, we’ll be open. Drop it back on Bank Holiday Monday and save yourself an extra day’s hire”. I like this kind of family touch. Plus (shhh!) it’s free parking in the street outside so I could drive to and from there at the start and end of the hire. A detail? Not if you’re in a hurry, and who ISN’T in a rush these days. Efficient, friendly ‘no-fuss’ service. And proud of their fleet. I like that. Highly recommended.

This is the 2nd time this year we have used Practical after being let down by one of their competitors and I must say the whole experience was 10/10. There staff are helpful and go the extra mile to ensure you get exactly what you need and for the best price. Moving into 2019 I will be using them for all hires and look forward to working with them as they make the process of hiring a vehicle easy, simple and painless. From the get go they inform you of everything you need to know, and unlike some of their competitors there vehicles are clean inside and out.

There are two parts to my review. Our car was spotless, worked perfectly well and the whole admin side of things was done efficiently and with utmost courtesy. Our son forgot his passport in the car with a significant amount of money in it. The company’s cleaners found the passport, the admin people with Mr Tahir as the main person who contacted us informed us of the finding and helped us to organise a courier and returned the passport and the money to us. I am most grateful to Mr Tahir and the team at Practical Rent a Car for their help and honesty.

I hired a van from this outfit for 6 days. The vehicle they gave me was un roadworthy as the AA breakdown service described it when I had to call them. The front tire was defective and the spare was flat after having a previous puncture and not been fixed. I had to spend one whole day of my rental getting the vehicle roadworthy again. When I returned the vehicle the response I got was digusting, basically they said if you dont like our vehicles dont hire from us. For your own safety do not use this company as I had the great misfortune to find out.

My second experience was even better than the first. Flying back to Heathrow from a corporate event in Zurich I needed to hire a van for a similar event in London the following day. My plane was delayed but the guys at PCVR gave me a private number to call and, though the office had closed for the day, they came and opened up for me out of hours, with the paperwork all ready. You can't get this sort of service anywhere these days. Well, let me correct that. You CAN get this sort of service in ONE place. Practical Car & Van Rental, Hounslow.

The worst service ever, The car pick up was delayed by "Practical Car and Van Rental Ltd" (Hounslow), so I could not collect my car in time. They do not have people carriers with the latest Isofix technology car seats what I have requested, plus they have ignored my request. Reception staff didn't like my driving licence, so they didn't want to rent out the car. I have not rented the car and they have charged for the full length of the rental time and the cost is not refundable. Lesson learned that I have to avoid them at any cost. Edvinas

Perfect experience, everything went smoothly. I needed to rent a van with a tail lift (a Luton) and I was afraid this particular van would not be available on the day - but I would not be able to move my stuff without it. There was no reason to worry after all, the van was available as promised, the hand off was very fast (about 10 minutes in total), the van was in a perfect condition, as described, staff were very polite, professional and kind, and there were no hidden charges. I would highly recommend this rental place!

Very good at losing customers. They messed up my booking by closing early before I picked up the car, so I had to go to this one last minute. This was despite me emailing head office and confirming over the phone the day before. It was idiot proof. No apology given and the manager was very rude, even saying I should have confirmed – which of course I did, twice! Couldn't make it up. Not nice people either. The £££ I spend very year on hire cars is going elsewhere.

I've hired vans from the Hounslow branch many times over the years, as they are local to me. From Transits to Lutons, I've never had any issues with anything. All staff are friendly and professional, never had any trouble with returning deposits and always instant. Prices are competitive and I wouldn't hesitate in recommending these guys anytime. Problem with cards payment charge twice now deposit its not return on the time . I have charge 20£ I don't know yet test for what . Million problem I have bad van I pay 4£ for clean van I get dirty and charge for this . All windows miror bad see dirty I have picture who no belive in that , and diesel was 1/4 I need go spend time for petrol station big quee spend time . There was an mother and daughter on duty. The mother was next to useless and had no clue as couldn't help at all. The daughter was helpful, knowledgeable and efficient. Personally I found the service very cold and it seemed like she was completing a repetitive task with the passion removed. All the info if available online. Do yourself a favour, don't bother visiting. If you're happy with the price and availability of the vehicles, book it online.

SHOCKING service. Guy took all my details said I'd get a call in half hour. 3 hours later I have to call them. The same person said 'have they not called Yet? Give me 5 mins and I'll call you' 2 hours later no call. It's good that business is doing so well they can treat someone like that who's paying wages etc. looking at the other reviews I thought I'd give it a go and not listen. Now I get why it's do negative ! 1 star is too high

I hired a vehicle from their Hounslow Branch Following is my experience with them 1. Very rude staff, zero customer service. 2. Very expensive, almost they charge you twice as their rivals to prove my words check online and compare them with Sixt car hire, £95 to £51 on the same vehicle on the same date. 3. With this company you are limited to 200 miles But with Sixt is unlimited miles. Avoid this company as they ripping people off

Started out well with booking a car i.e price, vehicle, until I returned the car obviously thinking all was fine. However when it came to getting my security deposit back well there’s a different story altogether. It took over a month after several calls and emails to get my deposit which was rightfully mine back to me. A shame really as I thought I would do business again but it’s left a real bitter taste so will go elsewhere.

Dirty faulty vans for huge price without any insurance or cover. They don't even ask if you want extra cover or anything. They just selling you a deal for rent without any advice. Be careful folks, this is not a professional people to work with. Also I'd like to mention that, they want to collect a payment for the next month 5 days before when the contract is finish, what is not fair. Very bad experience, very bad people.

Booked van over phone. Guy I talked to, didn't told me T&C for rent. When I come to collect van they said I need proof of address and I got points on driving licence, and they can't give me van and I still will be changed for period on which I booked van. Also he said that over phone they made me aware of T&C, which is not true. So, please don't go there if you don't want deal with liars!

Their post code is misleading so please don't follow the sat nav as you will end up on the road with no parking and that's what their address is anyway. They are situated at the rear of the house address they have on the file. To get there youbwill have to come off the A4 to a service toad just before the junction otherwise you will end up with a 4 miles round trip to get there again.

Rubbish rubbish. Dont hire anything from them. Vam maybe but we just picked up a 9 seater transit. What utter rubbiah. Stained. Ledt front indicator just started hanging off. Type pressure low as we were 100 miles into our journey. Cup holder nearly hanging off its hinges and bloddy charing us 600 for a week. What a load of rubbish. Putting in a claim against them for sure...

He provides good customer service and always accomodating. I rented different types of vehicles with them over the years and never had any problem at any time. Would definitely rent again soon!

Got a dirty van without a spare wheel and without a cap for the fuel tank. Booked for 2 days but later advised that I would need it for another day. Later on on my 3rd day they called to say that the van was already booked to someone else for that day.I have to say very unprofessional although I am normally forgiving and non judgemental !

Great experience with practical van in Hounslow. Had great customer care from Paul at the front desk who was polite and took us through everything and answered all the questions we had. The van was ample for what we required it for when moving into our new home. Was simple and easy to pick up and drop off. Will be using them again!

The clue is in the name, and from here I hired a car not a van this time. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the car for the price -- it is comfortable and fuel efficient, and perfect for the long-distance trip I needed to do. Definitely one of the best car rental shops in the area. Would use them again for sure.

This review started good but has been reduced by a star for every week they didn't refund my deposit so far. Still no news. Hired a 9 seater VW Transporter for a 6 day family trip. Brand new vehicle, staff were helpful with last minute booking in Easter hols and the van was reasonably priced. Would happily come back.

BAD service, took more than a month and 3 calls to promise to refund the deposit. Hopefully I'll get the deposit by tomorrow. Didn't call back after the first 2 calls! The excuse given was the computer system was down - for more then a month??? Unbelievable! Online prices & actual prices are different. Don't use it!

We used the Mercedes Vito for a trip to Chester. After reading the bad reviews I was reluctant to use them, however after meeting the team and finding out the previous issues were from the old manager that used to work there I thought I would give them a try. They done a good job, vehicle was great.

Exceptional service. The van I had was very clean, new and did the job I needed perfectly well. The staff were very knowledgeable about their vans as they explained the size to me clearly so I could get the right van for what I needed. Overall very impressed and will be using them again!

Booked an i30 and they upgraded to an automatic! Right from time of enquiry, booking, pick up, to drop, the service was outstanding. Very friendly and easy to hire with them. Also very kind gesture as it was Christmas eve they gifted a champagne bottle! Kudos to the team at Practical :)

Expensive rental. Poor customer service, the willingness to omit important information is common here , information has to be extracted by asking lots of questions, even then the answers are ambiguous, leading to unexplained, unexpected difficulties. The van was standard and basic.

Practical car rental is not very practical...they do nt have a bus that leaves from the airport, ( and they do nt advertise this fact), buyer beware...once you have paid...no refund.. Have nt picked up the car yet....now dreading what I' ll find when I get to the UK...ugh...

This place is excellent value and there was no wait time at the office to collect or drop off. Staff were friendly and efficient (Tahir on checkout, not sure who for check in). Getting to the office on the public bus was OK but I got an Uber back to the terminal (£8.50)
