I recently had the pleasure of visiting the Sacred Roots Community Mosque, located conveniently close to downtown Chicago, and I must say it was an unforgettable experience. This mosque truly lives up to its name, as it exudes a sense of tranquility and warmth that resonates with anyone who steps through its doors. Although led by shia scholars, it is an inclusive space for all school of thoughts and different from traditional imambargah. The community members were incredibly kind and hospitable, making me feel like I was among family. I was fortunate enough to participate in their Friday prayer service, which was led by an engaging and knowledgeable imam who is a convert. The sermon was thought-provoking, and I appreciated the inclusive and open-minded approach that was encouraged during the congregation. It is also a center for learning and community engagement. They host various educational programs, interfaith dialogues, and outreach initiatives, which showcases their commitment to fostering unity and understanding among people of different backgrounds. Whether you're a practicing Muslim or someone seeking to learn more about Islam and its culture, I highly recommend visiting the Sacred Roots Mosque. If you find yourself in downtown Chicago, do yourself a favor and pay a visit to this extraordinary place of worship and community.
