Haven't been to Sam's since moving to JHB and Cape Town in 2014. Popped into the Virgin Active whilst in Dbn, to train and then to Sams for Breakfast. Was pleasantly surprised to see the new Decor and subsequently met the owner Alan, who purchased Sam's earlier this year. Friendly staff and great meal.

It's a pleasant little coffee shop in a convenient location. If I am between appointments in the area and need a simple bite to eat, like a toasted sandwich, Sam's Homegrown Cafe is just right and it's better to support a unique place than the typically homogenous franchise outlets found everywhere else. Not pretentious, not over-priced, friendly staff and happy atmosphere make for a worthwhile stop. I'll keep supporting them.

I thoroughly enjoyed my visit to Sam's Cafe, the atmosphere, staff and food were just what I needed. So warm and friendly with fresh delicious ingredients and treats and did I mention all day breakfast! Yes Please.

Delicious Eggs Benedict, and Pineapple juice. That cost me R108. But worth it!!! A Nice and comfortable place. And quite busy for 8:3am on a Wed. The waitresses though, I felt should have left the dragging of tables & chairs, until someone could help them... OR lifted them up. It was so annoying and unpleasant. The 3 other tables there thought so too.

Very disappointed! The menu said 'rolled' oats, which is the full flake and better quality. I know because I eat rolled oats at home. They served me over processed oats, like Jungle oats. Eeuw!!! Rolled oats is healthier, over processed is very nutrient deficient. Please serve rolled oats or remove the word 'rolled' from the menu. …

Friendly staff and a pleasant spot, but the coffee isn't special. If you're in the area and you're looking for a breakfast, there are friendly staff who will ensure you have a wonderful experience, however the coffee isn't worth seeking out, not with other solid options in the area and in the greater Durban specialty scene in general.

Definitely one of the best coffee shops i have been to. Good service and atmosphere. Extensive menu with something for everyone weather you're in a healthy mood or wanting something a bit decadent. Cant beat the coffee. centrally located, ample parking, ultra convenient. They even have the services of Mr Delivery

Always delightful to visit this Coffee Shop in a quaint Shopping Centre in Kloof. It has seating indoors and out; so you can enjoy the sun whilst enjoying a well brewed cuppa. They have a variety of well prepared and presented light meals; breakfast, teas and luncheons and they cater to the health conscientious

I bought eggs Benedict and 100% pure beef burger from this place via Uber eats. The burger was definitely homemade and tasty which is awesome. However the eggs Benedict were an incredible mess. I really didn’t enjoy them and they arrived looking like sick also the hollandaise sauce was very bland.

The food here was good and the servings were generous. The prices were good. The only thing I need to be critical of is the lack of choices for vegetarians as there were only three dishes for me to choose from. I ordered the hummus, avocado and cucumber wrap with a serving of chips.

Timeline review April 2021 Happy to see restaurant resumed longer trading hours again. August 2019 Still fantastic foods. Thanks you to the cook’s in the kitchen. My favorite drink is the Red Cappuccino.(large) I’ll be dining for lunch soon. Earlier in the year Fantastic.....

There were no supervisor on duty. Service was slow and we had to ask numerous times for the menu, then food and coffee and then ask again for the bill. Disappointing overall but I do feel if the owner/manager was there service would have been different.

The service here is always slow (and I say always since I am normally here for coffee before or after gym at least twice a week). If this cafe was located anywhere other than right outside the gym, it would never survive with service this atrocious.

We arrived at 10h15 & placed a breakfast order for 3 adults & 1 child at 10h30. At 11h30 and after half a dozen queries as to when we would get our order we decided to leave & go to Wimpy. After WE apologized for doing this, we were told

Cappuccino was not an actual cappuccino as far as I could tell i.e. no espresso shot, as it had coffee grinds in the bottom of the cup. Overly milky as well. On the plus side I ordered a bacon & egg toastie which was just about perfect.

Nice place and setting, slow service, and very long wait for food, even though it wasn't busy.

Lovely cafe guyz keep it up you doing an amazing job,yesterday I was there just 15 min before you closed ,you was willing to serve me but i quickly use my common sense that u are about to close so u also need to clean and go home

Half dead Betta Fish in several masonry jars randomly placed in dark little alcoves across the one wall - leaves a bitter taste in one’s mouth! No oxygenation, 5cm of sand & not a single plant for the fish to seek some kind

Good service, worst toasted sandwich I've ever had. Ordered a egg and bacon toasted sandwich because who messes up a toasty really?! Boy was I wrong...the fried chips I ordered as a side were fresh though.

The menu is pretty basic fare. Service is bad especially if you sit outside I had to fetch my own menu, go and get someone to order food and to pay. Food itself is ok. Nice convenient location.

Food was fair. Nothing fantastic. Service wasn't too good, the waitress forgot to bring 3 items at different points during our visit. The outside seating area is dog friendly which is great.

Normally very good service but recently poor with waitresses gossiping together and only responding to customers when you catch their eye. Look like new staff.

Sam’s Homegrown Café is a pleasant and convenient place to grab a bite especially if you are going to the gym or Pick n Pay. Their food is lovely and healthy.
