I have encountered many scammers throughout the world. Some in places that could be considered a "failed state". I have come to accept them as part and parcel of travelling in such countries. But I would never have imagined that the worst experience of scamming would be at the Sixt car rental office in Vilnius Airport. I was going to pick up the rental car at Vilnius Airport at the appointed time. When presenting the documents at the counter, the rental agent pointed out that I did not have the correct identification with me (I presented Lithuanian Residence Permit). Passport or ID card was missing. This was not the issue. I would accept that unlike 99% of all other car rental companies, Sixt for some reason did not accept Residence Permits as valid ID. But time was an issue and I wanted a car ASAP. I asked the agent whether it´s possible to cancel the booking for free so that I can rent from another company. The agent replied that I need to contact Rentalcars.com (the vendor I used for booking the car). I replied that I will call them and see whether it´s possible. During the call to Rentalcars.com (which was made at the Sixt rental agent office), the rental agent at Sixt canceled the car rental without informing or confirming with me. I was not aware of this while on the phone. After the call, I informed the agent that it´s not possible to cancel the car rental without paying a fee. Therefore, I told the agent, I would take a taxi home and collect my passport and return to complete the pickup. The agent acknowledge my statement but did not comment. I returned within 20 minutes (and 15 eur for taxi), and while presenting the passport to the car rental agent he told me he already canceled the car rental. He told me that I had told him to cancel the car rental. Now, it is understandable that the rental agent might have misunderstood or confused the situation, but he did not double check, inform or confirm or even raise the question with me prior to canceling the booking. I asked him to reverse the cancelation and he told me with a big smile that its not possible. The agent refused to acknowledge any wrongdoings and behaved very rude and disrespectful, blaming us for the situation and smiling all the time while talking. You could tell he was enjoying the situation. We lost the car and 70 euro (+15 for taxi back and forth). Easy money made for him. We argued for some time but to no avail, the guy clearly had some system in place to take every chance that arise to scam whoever is unlucky to rent from this company. Now, the car rental will reply and say that "they are really sorry to hear about this misunderstanding" and that the terms and conditions states something about something that is not relevant to the situation. The car rental agent is a scam, and the endless bad reviews down below just confirms it. I always thought that people write these scammer reviews because they are upset, but not actually been subjected to a real scam. Well, I can say that there is a reason to call this agent for scammers. Sixt in Vilnius Airport showed us in a glorious way how to do scamming. I truly hope that we can organize in a group and bring a claim to the Lithuanian Consumer Protection agency, because it amazes me how this company can still have a business license. Stay safe, and avoid Sixt!

Long story short, stay away form Sixt in Vilnius! We all know car rental companies aren't shy charging you the extra buck, but this one in Vilnius Airport has done it beyond imagination. I rented a car for 15 days, got a completely different type than I booked on the app, payed insurance 182 EUR!!! (which turned out to be useless because it covered damage above 850 EUR only), on the day of returning the car I received a damage report of 403 EUR for a scratch UNDER!!! the front bumper (a very low bumper too, see pictures)! I don't know if that scratch was there before me, I could not prove that anymore because when I picked up the car I did not look UNDER the car! Needless to say the amount they charged me was completely inadequate. I called them to try and discuss the matter, but the only thing they kept repeating was that I signed a rental contract where all the previous damage was stated. The damage quote was non-negotiable too. So technically I could not do anything about it anymore. But practically, Sixt has found a way to rip their customer off in the most mean way possible - for a scratch on the bottom part of the bumper, a place that is not visible unless you look UNDER the car. You know, that place that bumps into things when you sometimes hit a ramp when exiting an underground parking or some gravel hits it while driving. When asked if I could see pictures of the car when I pay the bill and the damaged is repaired, they told me it would not happen. So the next time you want to rent a car in Vilnius do not go to Sixt, or if you do, check for possible preexisting damage UNDER the car too or else you'll be charged for something like that. Sixt personnel in Vilnius was completely non-collaborative and was not willing to understand my side of things. Will not rent with them ever again and will not recommend to anyone. Terrible experience.

I'm appalled by customer service that my close friends have received today at this branch of Sixt.  They have booked a rental car 5 days in advance. However, as soon as office worker saw their Israeli passports he refused to complete the deal unless they paid €200 deposit. Bearing in mind that it doesn't state on the English version of the website that they have do it. Naturally they have asked for assistance to show them contract to verify this information. Instead they were told to go on the website and find it for themselves. When they asked to speak to the manager he told them that it was what manager told him to tell them to say to the customers. They had to look on again on English version of the website and then Lithuanian version of the Sixt website to verify this information. Customers have agreed to pay €200 deposit. However, office admin told them that he was instructed by the manager to stop doing any business with them. In conclusion at best this shows that office staff and management at this branch incompetent and lack basic customer service skills at worst and most likely that is a case that they are anti-Semites. On the positive note they had to go Sixt's competitors and didn't have any problems renting a car on a short notice in order to make in time for their business meeting in Latvia. Personally, I have advised my friends and family to avoid doing any business with Sixt.

Went to the best friends' funeral and needed a car urgently. Worst experience ever, rude and unprofessional customer desk representative, aggressive sales of unwanted additional insurance like alloy wheels and front wind screen. The insurance which they had to offer was never offered, like standard €850 excess nullified for additional cost per day. When got a keys, the guy at the desk was saying with a smirk on the face that they would find some sort of scratch anyway. At the end, they found a tiny scratch on the bottom of the front bumper on return. Never had an accident or knowingly made that scratch myself, for what I know, it could have been already there on pick, as it's in such a place I wouldn't see. On pick up the service of inspecting the car with representative, again, was not offered, it was in the car park at the aeroport all night, someone could of scratched then. Anyway, the worst bit is the invoice sent for repairs. When I asked professional mechanick, I was told it should not cost more than €100, but unfortunately, I was charged €500. ABSOLUTELY outrageous. Overall, I felt I was set up from the start and robbed to my last pants, seems that the companies main business is ripping people off on minor scratches (which other companies writing off as wear and tier) rather then car rental. Never to be used again. STAY AWAY.

Do not rent with small kids ever! And maybe don’t rent from them at all. Person handling our contract was nice, but had zero experience. His more experienced colleague was very very rude. Not only to us, but other customers as well. We booked online, however nothing was handled faster than normally - we needed to repeat all the information. We also booked a child seat. At first they said it will be in the car already. There was none, so we came back. They first offered me a child booster (so for much older kids than our 18 month old). When I refused, the rude worker said that I don’t know how things are called and what kind of seat I want (mind you, I had the kid with me, so they could see him, I told them his age and when booking online we provided his age as well!). They finally gave us a different seat, we had to install it in the car ourselves and only when we started driving, we have seen that this child seat was UP TO 18 months. Explains why it was so uncomfortable for the kiddo. Also, not all previous scratches are on the report form and they WILL try to charge you for them, so make videos with flash of absolutely all corners of the car, if you use them. (But please just don’t, when you pay for all the extra insurances, they are not actually cheaper than other companies!!)

Overall, a great experience. We rented the car for 3 days for just €70 which was a real bargain. Below are some tips for those who might find this useful and a lot of this applies to any car rentals globally, not just Sixt in Vilnius. For this rental, only third party liability insurance was provided as standard so beware that you will be accountable for any new damage to the car. Excess insurance cover was available for an extra €135 which is simply ridiculous - we purchased a an excess insurance cover policy from a third party which provided LDW (loss damage waiver) cover, i.e. CDW (collision damage waiver) + TP (theft protection), as well as cover for some extras like admin charges, misfuelling, key loss, damage to the undercarriage etc. - all of this for €10 for 3 days and complete peace of mind. Make sure you check the handover documents for any damage listed, check the car before leaving and take photos of any damage you can spot. On return, the cars are examined very thoroughly (!!!) so forget the usual 5 cm scratch rules etc. - I would advise you ask for the car to be inspected in front of you upon return to ensure no nasty surprises afterwards.

As several others already had mentioned in their reviews: Be careful with this company, they try to make some extra money by charging you for scratches that are very small and where its questionable if these scratches were already there when you got the car. Therefore I would recommend to either rent a car with full coverage or make a detailed video of every single part of the car when you get it. I had to pay further 600 € because of scratches, I'm accused to be responsible for as you can see in the attached picture. Just rididculous and a very poor service. Definitely not worth it. I'm really annoyed! Specification: I got the car at the Sixt Station at the Vilnius Airport and the handover back to Sixt was at the Sixt Station at the Tallinn Airport. Already at the station in Vilnius scratches weren't mentioned in the protocoll so I had to ask to add at least the big one in the car description. And then, when I brought back the car, every single even small damage of a car with 15.000 km was linked to my rent. So during 7 days I was accused to have damaged the car at the front, rear, tyres & front screen.

Pick up and drop off were smooth. What i felt was better than average was the fact that the staff at pickup actually volunteered the confirmation that (i) i had booked through third party website, and (ii) had already paid for comprehensive insurance through that website. This provided me with the reassurance that my booking was properly handled by a legitimate booking website. Instead of the usual hard selling of in-house insurance packages, the staff then said that i would not need to pay for additional coverage. Good business ethic. Existing damages were as indicated on the rental sheet attached in email. Perhaps one point of improvement would be to provide a print out of the rental sheet at point of pickup, in case people have difficulty accessing their email, or difficulty reading the attachment on the small handphone screen. Also, signage to car pick up area could be improved. Easy to find hertz and europcar. Had to look around for sixt. Complimentary upgrade to bigger class car was a bonus. Car return was fuss-free. No hidden cost or unreasonable scrutiny of car 'damages'.

Stay far away! They expect you to wash and clean the car upon return. I was given a 181.50 cleaning fee for returning the car with some minimal cleaning required. Nothing outrageous. We had the car for a week in bad weather conditions with three little children. I don't think the car could have made it back to the airport completely detailed as they expected. I have never heard of a rent a car company requiring you to wash and vacuum the car before return. This was not explained at the desk when picking up the car. The company also did not honor the price that was given to me when I reserved the car. They up-charged me and gave me an "upgraded" car for comfort. The car was not any bigger than the one I reserved to rent but it was double the price. This company will not get my business again.

Не пользуйтесь - ужасный сервис!!! Заранее (за несколько дней) забронировал автомобиль через сайт, сразу оплатил бронь полностью. Когда приехал в аэропорт забирать авто менеджер SIXT сообщил мне, что моя бронь отменена. Я показал ему активную бронь в приложении на смартфоне и спросил когда она отменена и кем. На что он ответил что накануне ночью, а кем не знает. Никаких обьяснений больше я не получил. Затем менеджер SIXT вежливо сообщил, что он сейчас сделает все необходимое, чтобы мне вернулись деньги (потом когда-нибудь) и я получил инвоис на e-mail (тоже потом). ОК, наверное в Литве такое бывает... Так а машину вы мне какую-то дадите? Ответ был - нет свободных машин! С большей дичью я не сталкивался ни в одной стране мира! Ни ногой больше к этой компании в Литве! Черный список.

I was shocked when I was picking up the car I was told that there is no insurance for theft and damages. That I am responsible for full car price if anything happens. I was given a third party insurance as standard only. I dint check it when I was booking it online, but for 11 years I'm renting cars across the Europe, all other company's and even Sixt in Germany was giving Third party, Theft and Damage insurance as standard. And in that case I was responsible only for a car hire axcess only, not a full car cost. But here in Vilnius I had to pay extra €110 just to get that option and still there was a car hire axcess of €850 if anything happens. I wouldn't recommend Sixt in Vilnius as it looks like they have different car hire terms and conditions then the rest of other company's.

По работе часто приходиться пользоваться арендой в аэропорту. Пользовались разными компаниями. Жена обращалась к ним чаще и посоветовала. Обратился к ним 1 раз и очень доволен и условиями аренды и качеством обслуживания и авто снова лечу в Вильнюс и не стоит вопрос куда обращаться. Кстати сказать на прошлой неделе возвращал им авто ну в очень грязном снаружи состоянии( опаздывал на самолет и не успел помыть) Никаких претензии с их стороны, не прозвучало, депозит разблокировали на следующий день. Вообщем, очень доволен. В четверг снова в путь

I had reservation a reservation. Flight was on scheduled time at 00:40. However, there was nobody at the station. I had to wait half an our for an employee to finally show up. Its especially disappointing becouse of the fact I was upfront reassured there will be someone waiting even at this late hour. + with all the documentation requests, it took me another half an hour. Even though I am using the service 30+ times, they still pretend to have not enough of my personal details like phone number or home address

I thought Riga's Sixt made up a scratch when I returned it (it costs 480 eu, because they "repaint" the door after 3-5 scratches, and charge every single person the same door), so i was wired the full door costs. Anyway in Vilnius 3 scratches mysteriously appeared on the protocol. Luckily I had the full coverage. So save yourself time and money, buy the full insurance or dont rent at all. There are barely 18 yearolds as far as I saw are checking the cars for damages in the lot.

Also absoluter Schmarrn ne halbe Stunde bevor Annahme des Fahrzeug ist es nicht möglich, das Fahrzeug zu empfangen nach langem hin und her mit dem Bearbeiter vor Ort, der mir vier mal das gleiche erzählt hat, sehr unfreundlich und unsympathisch rübergekommen. Dass man das Fahrzeug was man am selben Tag gebucht hat, nicht ne halbe Stunde früher abbuchen kann, ist ein Witz und spricht nicht für Sixt. Deswegen werde ich nicht mehr in dieser Gesellschaft buchen.

Never had a better experience from a car rental. Both workers who helped me were extremely polite and—unlike many car rental service workers—talked to me at a normal pace like a regular human rather than 3 words per second. Their terms are less fussy than other car rental companies (for example, I didn't have to take the car to a car wash before returning, and there wasn't a specific spot I had to park the car upon return). I will definitely use Sixt again!

disgusting customer service. we asked to look at the rental agreement to see the rules and the amount of insurance we have to pay. at first, the service staff did not want to communicate with us at all on this topic, but after consulting with the manager, he showed the item in lithuanian. we did not understand a word, but since we needed a car, we were ready to pay, but the attendant refused to give us the booked car.

Будьте внимательны при использовании кредитных карт выпущенных не в ЕС, нашу карту выпущенную в белорусском банке (работающую в Европе без проблем) отказались принимать, ссылаясь на то, что у них есть свой список банков карты которых они не принимают! При этом, бронирование через интернет проблем с этой картой на их сайте нет и только когда мы пришли за машиной, оказалось, что получить мы ее не можем по этой причине.

We booked online and went to the airport office for forms and pickup. The services were good when we booked. Service was ok, accepting the usual try to sell additional services which is quite annoying. The car was good shape, pretty new, good price. We had an issue with child booster and it was resolved properly. I remove a star because some scratches were not in the report, so I had to document this and send it.

Very boring to rent a car. When we're on vacation we don't want to lose time asking bunch of questions and saying no to all upgrades they offer. It was really anoying to stay there saying "no, I don't want another car", " no, I don't want to pay more for another insurance... " I already choose everything online!!!

On multiple occasions renting from this location me and my team have gotten phenomenal rates AND service! Simonas and team have done everything possible to meet our requests. On a recent rental their team bent over backwards tofix a problem caused by another party. Strongly recommend this office!

17.12 заказал две машины (тоуота рав 4). Получили точно что заказали, обе машины были новые и чистые . Оформление взяло неболее 10 минут. Очень приветственный персонал , цены были самые низкие из всех агенств открытых после 20:00. Возврат прошёл без проблем. В следующий раз обязательно вернусь .

Rented car for a long weekend and honestly had an another amazing experience with Sixt. Rented car was extremely clean and well maintained. I had in a contract already noted some cosmetic defects of the car. Enjoyed the rental days very much. Personally would use the Sixt again next time!
