"Christmas lunch was abominable! Miserable selection of food"
The Good: * Fast checkin and checkout. * Secure at night. * Very quiet on the "inside-facing" rooms. * Late checkout till 12 was "provided". * They respected the DND sign on the front door for peace in the mornings. * Room was clean. The bad: * Lighting was dull but not dim. Defo not bright and sunny. * Low water pressure. * Luke warm shower water. * Stand still in the shower for a minute and the lights go out...if you are elderly this could cause a potential accident in the shower . Safety issue right there! Waving a hand will trigger the bathroom lights to come on again. Moving within the shower does not cause the light motion sensor to trigger. * King bed was collapsed part way thru. * Couch-thing wasn't comfy. Good decor though! * Aircon control is fiddly but works after some applied intellectual effort on the panel. * Samsung TV was boxed in so no usb etc etc. But it worked as intended on its own. TV channels are fine. The Ugly * The late checkout was problematic. Staff called and then knocked on the door during that extra hour, disturbing us. Staff Inter-communication appears very subpar to mess up a simple late checkout. Conclusion * I stayed here in January 2020 and expecting a maintained level of hotel service under the Stamford name. I was certainly mistaken in 2023. A critical mistake, that I took my business elsewhere at a much nicer hotel nearby. * The power saver things were just too much. The bathroom lights go out too quickly if you stand still in the shower and moving around to reactivate was a no go unless you put an arm out. * I will not return to this hotel. I found a cheaper and better place after I checked out for one more night in Adelaide.

I think more money has been put into the entrance and outside of the building because the rest is terrible. * Car pack is AWFUL. It is not suited for FWD or bigger cars as it's terrible to get around, the clearance is low and it hit our roof racks. Another guest told us his Car was actually stolen the night before in the same car park. * There is a pile of old dirty bed mattresses in a storage shed in the car park, it looks disgusting. * There is NO RAMP from the car park elevator to reception so NOT good for prams or disability people. We had to pick up our pram and carry up the stairs. * The rooms are very basic and outdated. We slept terribly. * NO TV streaming, netflix or options to rent/buy movies. Which now adays is available in most places. * The Buffet breakfast is very average. I would say it's only worth $20PP * $100 deposit taken incidental per night.. * The elevator took us up and down for a ride as it wouldn't take us to the right level. I'm not normally one to complain BUT I have stayed in way better places cheaper then this and do believe it was much nicer then this accommodation. I wish I had of read the reviews before coming here as I feel we could have enjoyed so much more somewhere else.

(Update) The below Review was written whilst staying at this hotel. It was most refreshing to see the issues with the room addressed before departure. The maintenance team and cleaners made the room very pleasant. I’m confident to say that given their efficient team work today, all the rooms in the hotel will be nice. By far the worst experience imaginable. 1) staff lock elevator so they can avoid the long wait from the slowest elevators in existence. Guests get stuck on the level with a dead elevator until the staff returns. I waited 15 minutes. 2) the bar down stairs has one staff who took forever to prepare drinks and took drinks orders from people outside the line. It took 20 minutes to get served. I was there to meet with people not stand in a line. 3) filthy room, broken toilet seat, gross shower filth on the tiles, broken tap, shower head oozing black substance. (check out the pics) 4) Aircond didn’t work. 5) window track filled with grime and latches broken. 6) manager completely indifferent to all the above. The place is being run by cost cutters in my opinion and the downward spiral is evident looking forward. (Please note the update above, I was pleased with the hotel well before departing.)

Just had a couple of nights here for the price definitely not worth it, shower water pressure was terrible, the shower was over the bath and very slippery until I called and asked for a rubber mat. Air vent in the bathroom looked like it had never been cleaned, toilet seat was loose. TV was dated and no way to watch a movie, the hotel Wi-Fi is a non secure connection, and the instruction sheet listed a different wifi name that you should join. View is of a car park wall, air cond was noisy enough to wake the dead, Very handy location, Staff on arrival were amazing, but I waited about 3 minutes on morning 1 while desk clerk chatted on the phone, didn’t sound like a business call!! Worst car park to get in and out of, super tight and at $30/night n absolute rip off. I know this review will get the standard response which really means we won’t change a thing. Never will I stay here again

Very overpriced on the most part. Breakfast was awesome, but still $$$$
Christmas lunch was abominable! Miserable selection of food. chicken not cooked through, seafood not cold enough, salad inedible, bread rolls rubbery, no diet drinks etc etc. Room was overcrowded and there was no table service so we had to negotiate close tables and milling diners just to get to the drinks.[we were in the furthest corner hemmed in by 2 walls and 2 tables and no ventilation] our granddaughter has severe sesame allergy which I alerted the hotel to yet no accommodation was made to provide a meal for her. Upon asking wait staff if they could provide something suitable she was given a white roll that had sesame on its base. We then waited another 10mins for 2 (stale) gluten free wholemeal rolls. I won’t even start on the meagre sweets selection. Between the 4 of us we ate 1 bread roll, 1/2 a chicken thigh, 1 tablespoon of steamed rice and 3 deserts.

Check in for 2pm. Room wasn’t ready until 3pm. Had to wait in the lobby. Paid $271+ $100 deposit. Up to our floor and immediately the passage smelt musty. Kids shouted out yuk this smells bad. The carpet was old and stained looking. In to the room. It’s clean and tidy. The shower fan doesn’t work so it gets really steamy. Called reception once. Then after 5pm simply couldnt get through. Room service was prompt ordered food for the kids. But then to be told no dessert as they ran out. Decided to eat out at this point as I wasn’t going to risk $50-$60 + sides for a steak from here. No TV or movie entertainment. Unable to stream Netflix or foxtel. LiveTV channels only available. Definitely wouldn’t or recommend to stay here extremely over priced for what it is. Nice looking when you first walk in then it takes a dive.

So disappointing The staff have no people skills. Upon entering our floor the carpet had a very musty smell The air conditioning system did not work in our room. I complained and was told hmmm not much we can do about that. I had included parking in our package and this was a nightmare. Every time we exited to carpark it would not except the ticket the motel had supplied us with,so we had to pay 3 days in a row. Again I complained to the manger who said he could not reimburse me as thats not there policy. So I received a couple of free drinks from the bar. To say that I'm extremely disgustied and appalled by the motels managers Unprofessional behaviour is an understatement. I will never stay again and never recommend this motel to anyone. We spent 10 nights in December at the Grand Chancellor Hotel and could not of been happier . Wish we had booked with them again.

Overpriced
This hotel has numerous issues. The most significant was that our floor was intruded at 4am on the 2nd January by someone yelling and screaming at the top of their voice for several minutes. We were genuinely fearful. Rang the front desk - unattended. Managed to get the duty manager on the mobile phone. No follow-up and no checks to see if were OK. Maybe it was the dodgy swipe card system that only seemed to work half the time? Other things to mention - there is no security outside, we pulled up and were surrounded by a group who clearly were not guests. If you want coffee, even if you pay for breakfast, you have to pay again. The manager raised his voice to our server in the cafe - I feel sorry for the staff - really unprofessional, as the wait staff and front desk staff were really nice.

Great view
We thought the hotel would be great for the price we paid but in reality it was horrible never going again, the lifts were slow as it took us 20 mins just to get downstairs. The aircon didn’t work at all room was always at a minimum of 23c. Breakfast wasn’t the best same with breakfast room service food just felt like it was the food downstairs brought up to you. The hotel had also built a box around there tv so we could not plug in a hdmi to watch anything and the view from the room was horrible all we saw for the 5 nights we were there was a brick wall. The bathroom was ok probably the only ok thing there and the pool was allegedly heated but it was freezing and no one seemed to care about there customers at all and a lot of guest thought the same thing !!!! Definitely not worth the price

Wouldn’t stay again - whilst the service was OK the rooms need serious work. Our shower had no pressure whatsoever, the size and configuration of the bathroom was terrible also. We asked for room service a couple of times and it would take a minimum 20-30 min for our order to arrive - bear in mind we asked for a bucket of ice each time. No options on the tv to watch a movie - sports channels only- so We decided to try and use the option on the TV for screen mirroring from our phone and the TV prompted us to download an app which then cost us $30 which then resulted in the whole thing not working anyway! For $250 per night I wouldn’t stay here again unfortunately.

Great location, smack bang in the city centre, rooms are just standard hotel rooms - tv can't be cast to from your phone etc and all the usual amenities are nice enough. Staff seem nice, nothing outside the norm though. Didn't wow me but nothing to really complain about either.

Make note of where your room is, while it's not confusing (1801 is on floor 18 etc). Where the elevators are, how to get there etc may be for some people and it was never explained to us. You'll figure it out, but your parents might not ;).
Hotel is well placed on North Terrace with a shirt walk to Adelaide Oval, River, Casino, Convention Centre & Mall. Staff are great. Rooms are comfortable but showing their age. Bathrooms are quite dated. Variety of restaurants on site & good breakfast discounted for hotel guests. Good hotel facilities with paid car parking available. Good wifi. Nice views from rooms looking over north Terrace (tge front of tge hotel).

This hotel was hard to book - hard to check in - hotel key worked periodically in the lift making it hard to get to my room on the 10th floor. Overall it was just a "hard experience" This hotel is dated and in need of a refurbishment. I must say it is well located and I booked it because the conference I was speaking at was being held there however, for over $300 for one night, there is better value with other nearby hotels.

It's a mid-range hotel, and the rooms and lobbies aren't fancy at all. Just a basic type of hotel to stay for the night. There is a swimming pool on the rooftop but it wasn't clean when I visited. Had dead bees floating in it. Had a booking for 3 people but they didn't even put 3 beds in there. Had to request it.

Food..A bowl of so called salad which was just ALL Lettuce and 5 bits of white soft whatever for $16. ? SERIOUSLY? Even a rabbit eats better. Where's the olives, carrot, cheese onion and dressing? Mmm? Must be due to shortages or just like ripping holiday makers off and putting them right off. Plus way over charging and Not Listening . Won't be going Back.

Perfect location in the CBD area, within walking distance to art galleries, museum, universities, restaurants, etc. 2 mins walk to festival plaza. Low level rooms have very old facilities. Aircon was very noisy. High level rooms have much better views. Breakfast was phenomenal - a wide range of choices. Customer services were great.

Luxury, Great view
This review is in regards to the off street paid parking. It is nasty tight on corners, space and very steep ramps. Almost unnavigable with anything but a small car. Car parks are not designed for modern larger car sizes. Ours is a medium SUV and it struggled. High price for a very short stay in a space where panel damage was a concern. Next time I will opt for a nearby alternative
We were offered vouchers for breakfast, when leaving early in the morning unable to use we were told that we’d already paid for the breakfast and it was non-refundable! Terrible response from staff and $50 for nothing!!! Add the broken toilet keeping us awake all night and we certainly wouldn’t recommend and won’t be back.

We had a wonderful New Year's Eve celebration. The Stamford Plaza buffet was impeccable. Many delicious options perfectly prepared Drinks were free flowing throughout the evening. Table service excellent. The band was great and the disco theme was carried out well. It was tops all round. Another top class event worth every cent.

Definitely wouldn't stay again. The hotel is dated, severely overpriced and run down. While staff are friendly, the room was not worth the over $400 price tag. A view of a grey wall, no natural light, dated carpet, broken mini fridge, and
Avoid!!!!! Avoid!!! Avoid!!!! Like the plague. I have travel in some far remote places in Aust and Asia but I have never had to change my room each night as the air conditioning just “shuts down and doesn’t work”. They promote as a five
Very disappointing and an experience that was definitely not 5 star. No help with luggage at check in, hotels efpos machine wasn't working, room cards had to be rekeyed to work in the elevator, our room was freezing, aircon couldn't be
Decent hotel in the heart of North Terrace in the Adelaide CBD. The rooms were a bit worn out and the pool was ice cold even though the hotel says it’s heated. The location is excellent and within easy walking distance to Rundle Mall,

From the outset being provided with car parking a 15 minute walk from the hotel, key cards that don't work to get to your room was bad enough. Then to be provided with a scan code to get out of the park that DID NOT WORK,
Very disappointed with this hotel. Not only did they charge more to my account than they showed on my physical tax receipt but the overall experience was just bad.
