UPDATE. It's years later. And my Maltese Mix, Kristi is close to the end of her life. Dt Gayle Grasmehr continues to go well beyond a typical veterinarian. My dog has been very ill the past three weeks. Dr Grasmehr has made time for daily appointments and ON HER DAY OFF SHE TEXTS ME AND EMAILS ME TO FIND OUT HOS KRISTI AND I AM. She is closed on Sunday and half day Saturday and off Monday but wrote me throughout this time period asking about Kristi Tarzana Pet Clinic advertises that they work together with the dog patent to assure the best treatment for your pet. They don't say things that they don't believe in. They are not inexpensive but they are well-experienced doctors who really care about their patients. My dad always said you get what you pay for and There iz no free lunch. He and my mom also felt that Tarzana Pet Clinic and the doctors and staff are true professionals worth additional cost since they are not the run-of-the mill office but truly special in what they provide. ORIGINAL POST I have been taking my dogs to Tarzana Pet Clinic for my entire adult life. I have owned a total of two tiny toy poodles, a bichon, and currently a teenager, I mean a Maltese Mix ( Toy Poodle). My parents used to live next door to the previous owner of the Encino Pet Clinic, and my dad felt that they had to use them cause my parents had a dog that passed in the night and his neighbor took his body that night. But when my dad drove to Bakersfield, California to purchase a tiny 12-week toy poodle, he charged $200 and said he was fine, looking at him for 10 seconds. Two days later, he was having explosive diarrhea on my mother and father’s brand new Bloomingdale’s Down White Comforter. We rushed him to Encino Vet. They said - don't worry it's a virus. $2500, and he was unconscious on the floor in a corner. No cage, just a shunt in his neck, just on the floor, and really sick. Loads of lies and promises and lots of miracle medicines from Encino Vet ( Previous owner) I called Tarzana Pet Clinic, my vet. Both Dr Hoffman and Grasmehr we're outside. He was taken in by gurney. By that night, he was making some progress. He LIVED 15 years. He was around 6 pounds on a fat day, but lived to have a wonderful life. My first toy poodle had a terrible access. Although, he lived to 19 1/2 yrs. And passed in my arms. He was blind, deaf, and happy as can be. They danced nightly after dinner, my two gay tiny toy poodles. They ball danced. The Bishon was A dear. She passed of Pancreatic Cancer living on love and grape Pedialyte for two months. Dr Grasmehr is the original dog whisperer. She gets down on the floor and talks to them. My current 11 yr old does not know she is a canine, and Tarzana Pet Clinic and their staff are wonderful. My little girl swears she is a person and responds as one. No they are not discount. No they are not cut rate. Yes they are top rate. Yes they love your animals as much as you. Yes they care. Yes they know the newest treatments For me there is no choice TARZANA PET CLINIC Only thing I don't like. You have to pick one Dr. They are both excellent. So they need to fix that. When you have the best, how Do you choose? So if you LOVE YOUR PET. THERE IS ONLY ONE VET. Tarzana PET CLINIC. Dr GRASMEHR AND DR HOFFMAN. Dr Rhonda Solomon THE BEST ARE DR GRASMEHR AND DR HOFFMAN. If you want cheap. They are not. My dad always said YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR.

I have been to other vets in the Valley to care for my dogs over the past four decades, and Tarzana Pet Clinic is by far the best. Both Dr. Hoffman and Dr Swann are thorough, knowlegeable, and compassionate. Both doctors explain clinical findings, treatment options, and advice, clearly, without talking down to you. Their note-taking is extensive, and their assistants are just as precise in intake interviews and vital reporting. You are always assured that everyone knows the purpose of your visit, from the reception desk to the lab technicians. To top it off, for the amount of time these veternarians spend with each pet, their fees and costs, are highly competitive, very reasonable. I have never waited more than 15 min in the waiting room for my dog to be seen, by either an assistant, or the vet. The people at the reception desk are very busy on the phones, but always take the time to give you a friendly welcome, and communicate how long it will be before someone comes out to talk to you, or take you into an exam room. You can tell that everyone has been trained or hired for their communication skills. I highly recommend this veterinary practice to anyone who cares about their dog, cat or exotic animal.

This clinic has been a saving grace! Recently moved to LA and couldn’t find any vet that didn’t have 3-4 week waits. Tarzana pet clinic was able to get me in promptly, and attend to all of my Siberian husky’s needs, vaccines, and health issues. The staff and doctor are all so wonderful and a delight to interact with! The vet whom I’ve had my interactions with has always been knowledgeable, patient, kind and communicative. You can tell she truly cares, and genuinely enjoys her career field. She helped my dog, Athena, recently with a very scary health concern. Now thanks to their treatment - she’s all better! My dog has a LOT of anxiety surrounding vets, and this clinic went above and beyond to work with her anxiety attack, while we were there. They approached the situation in a very calming and sensitive manner, which I appreciated. Because of this, we were able to effectively get my dogs more serious health concern, treated and resolved. As long as I reside in LA, this will be the vet I continue to return to and will recommend to all my friends and family. Also, please enjoy the many uploads of my dog back in full health! Lol

We adopted a new kitten who was recovering from an upper respiratory infection and Dr. Swann was so delightful. Really fantastic with our cat, and also very sympathetic when I told him the other cat we adopted was at an urgent care for her failing kidneys. Our cat eventually got spayed there - super easy to schedule. And now this week, we transferred both our dogs to this vet office because we love the whole team so much! One of our dogs is very socially outgoing, the other was terrified, but Dr. Swann and the assisting staff were great with both. I also appreciate his honesty with asking if we wanted to biopsy a lump on our dog or just keep an eye on it (she's older, and has had lumps be have biopsied before). I've frequently had vets who will just recommend whatever gets the bill higher We will definitely continue to bring our furry family here! Had a difficult situation arise with our 9 year old pit mix and the front desk staff worked with me to ensure I got her in ASAP - got to see Dr. Grasmehr and she was attentive and kind and got us started on a treatment plan to get us through the weekend. Went to our follow up with her primary a few days later, Dr. Swann, and was reminded again why I love this clinic. Dr. Swann is by far the best vet we’ve ever had in Los Angeles and that’s saying a lot after moving over 7 times. From the moment he walks into the room you can tell you and your four legged baby are his main focus and he’s calm and collaborative throughout the entire exam. He takes all the variables into consideration when deciding what’s possible/best and you just feel so taken care of. So grateful for the Tarzana Pet Clinic and their incredible staff and clinicians!

Front desk reception has got it together; vet techs are super loving with our pets and always look forward to seeing them. We’ve been through the absolute hardest thing we ever had to do, and had to let our eldest pup go due to intense and heartbreaking medical issues. Dr. Hoffman was so sympathetic, understanding, and showed a lot of tact and care for our situation and having to go through such a loss. Because of the trust I have been able to put in them, we felt comfortable switching another pup to this clinic from her old vet. She couldn’t be happier, she loves Dr. Swann and the vet techs here more than most other humans, which is saying something. Thanks for taking great care of our family, we will be bringing our kitty next!

There is no place better than Tarzana Pet Clinic and no doctor better than Dr. Gayle Grasmehr. Whether you are bringing your pet to see her for a regular check-up or for the more difficult visits when your pet is sick, she is the most compassionate, knowledgeable and just all-around wonderful doctor. Her staff is wonderful too! She is worth any sort of commute because of her special heart. I recently had to made the difficult decision to put my cat to sleep, and she reassured me that I did the right thing because he was in pain. Honestly, it made all the difference to hear her say that! I cannot recommend Dr. Gayle and the Tarzana Pet Clinic highly enough.

We have been part of the Tarzana Pet Clinic "family" for over 20 years, and never once in all those years did we have any desire to go elsewhere for our cats' wellbeing. Dr. Grasmehr is a fine diagnostician, up-to-date on any new tests or treatments for whatever ails one of our cats, is there for us when we need follow-up assistance (sometimes at the last minute), and cares for both us and our cats when health situations arise. She knows our 3 cats well, which one needs which additional consideration, and how they interact with each other (which sometimes makes treatment more difficult) She is absolutely the best!!

Dr. Hoffman and her team have given our dog such incredible care since we rescued him in September of 2016. Whether it's been for annual visits or an incident that left our dog injured and shaken, her expertise, kindness, professionalism, patience and positivity have been invaluable to our dog and family. Her team is gentle, comforting and prompt. We have always felt that our dog and us are in the best of hands with them. We enthusiastically give Dr. Hoffman and the entire Tarzana Pet Clinic team the highest of reviews with great appreciation and gratitude.

Tarzana Pet Clinic never disappoints. The front desk staff are always so friendly and helpful. Our vet is Dr Swann and omg he is incredible!!! Our three fur babies love him. He is so sweet, genuine and you can really tell he loves animals and is so passionate about what he does. We are planning a huge move to Australia and all the staff have been so supportive and have been a real help during this stressful time. The only thing we’d say is that we hate that we won’t have Dr Swann in Australia with us Maybe we can convince him to move!! Lol

Dr. Swann was so amazing! I had a bad surgery done somewhere else where they gave her some rly nasty drain tubes. My dog normally has crazy vet anxiety but was so calm with him and his tech that they removed the tubes without any sedation and I didn’t even hear her bark or cry back there at all. Her actually met me and spoke with me with my dog and most vets in LA seem to hide in the back. This is going to be my primary clinic for both dogs and I could not recommend it enough. Dr. Grasmehr is one of the finest Vets you will ever want to meet. My dog Gracie has been seeing her for several years now. She is gentle, sympathetic , extremely thorough and has always taken Gracie’s needs to the highest level of care. She personally follows up with phone calls and treats your animal like you were the only animal there. I have never felt rushed. Her staff is also amazing. You can tell they love what they do and have a passion for their job.

The Staff there is AMAZING and SUPER friendly. They truely make you feel that your at the right place. I have been going to Tarzana Pet Clinic for years. I moved to Irvine and found it difficult with the 405/101 and eventually found a Vet near by. After two years I decided to make the trip to the Valley and went back to Dr. Hoffman for my pets care. I have loved Dr Gayle and her staff since long before she became my cat’s vet! I helped a friend take her dog to see them for a few years before I needed a vet for my own pet! Took amazing care of my bestie!! My Frenchie Oliver was very sick and the Dr and staff took my concerns seriously and treated my dog and I amazingly, they even checked in with me multiple times over his treatment to make sure he was still moving in the direction.
