I had been a client for approx. 11 years. My cat Nix, who is 15, was a relatively healthy cat without any issues. This past July, I took Nix to their sister clinic, The Village Cat Clinic, for a 'routine' dental surgery. The surgery went smooth & was home that night. Within 24 hours I noticed Nix was super puffy & her skin felt funny. I called in & was told to keep an eye on her over the weekend & the vet would call me Monday morning. On the Sunday afternoon, I came home to find vomit all over my place & Nix hiding. I called the Hamilton ER Vet on King St. & was told to bring her immediately. I explained everything to the Vet on call & after an x-ray I was told she had a tracheal tear, which was most likely caused by the breathing tube during the dental surgery. They explained that it was very painful as the air escapes the trachea & sits under the skin & with a small tear it would eventually repair itself. If it was a serious tear, it would require a surgical repair. They used a syringe to remove air from under the skin, gave an antibiotic & pain injection & we were on our way. The next day I spoke to the vet & ended up taking Nix in as she wasn't able to breath properly. She was placed on oxygen for a few hours, had more oxygen removed & we were sent home. The next day we returned again as Nix was struggling to breath. She was placed on oxygen & when we tried to remove her to go home, she deteriorated right away. I ended up taking her to the Hamilton ER vet again so that she could be on oxygen overnight & see if she improved. After 2 days on oxygen, the vet that did the dental surgery called me crying & wanted to explained my options to me. Nix needed a scope done to see the extent of the tear, however the scope needed to be done in Guelph. Nix couldn't be taken off oxygen & they didn't think that she would make it to Guelph without oxygen. The oxygen tanks they had only last about 20 minutes & they couldn't transport her on oxygen because of liability issues. I asked the vet what that meant & she said I needed to consider humane euthanization. I was beside myself & utterly speechless. I told her that was not acceptable & that there had to be something that could be done. I asked her to explore other options for oxygen & I would take her to Guelph. There was no reason for them to be giving up on her after causing all of this because they wouldn't take her to Guelph. The Hamilton SPCA lent a tank out & I picked her up the next morning & took her to Guelph. I was given an initial quote based on a tracheal tear with repair done through her throat. A scope was done & a 2cm long tear was found in her trachea. The vet that did the scope explained that this was a result of the breathing tube either being inflated too much or pushed in too far. Nix would need surgery to repair it & unfortunately because of the size & location, they would have to go through her sternum to do it. As she was already under anesthetic I was given minutes to make a decision. Of course, I told them to go ahead & I would figure out the financial aspect later. Nix did well over the weekend in ICU & she came home 5 days after surgery. She required pain, antibiotic & B12 injections as she wouldn't eat, had diarrhea & was loosing weight. For a 3 week period I took her to the Village Clinic to have these done until they told me to call Guelph & see what they wanted done as it was so long post surgery. Without pain medication Nix began vomiting several times a day & not eating. At this point I found a new vet & Nix now has a care plan & is doing well, despite being on pain meds for the rest of her life. Not once did Dr. O'Brien see Nix, call me or follow up. She left me with the bill for the repair, despite this being a result of the dental. Her resolution to all of this was to euthanize Nix. I’m beyond grateful to have Nix home but as a result of the Cat Clinic, I almost lost her and she is forever changed. I now have a monthly vet bill of approx. $250 for pain meds. For a Cat Specialist I expected more from her when dealing with a situation like this.
I am sad to have to echo some of the other low rating review posted here by saying the communication and professionalism at this clinic is frustrating and difficult to understand. While my cats have received good care and gotten better from what was ailing them, the frustration has continued. I have received confusing and conflicting instructions from the last vet that saw my cats (to clarify, the other vets I’ve spoken to have been more patient and caring, however, my experience is limited with them). Every phone call I have with him consists of him speaking so fast I can barely keep up, laughing at me if I ask a ‘stupid’ question or tell him something that contradicts what he thinks, and rushing me off the phone, with an invitation to phone again if I need anything else. When my cat when discharged I was told we needed to do a specific treatment for him or he would remain sick and need more vet care. When I called a month later to say we’ve tried everything and he refuses to participate in this treatment, I was told he’s “probably fine” if he’s drinking and eating and otherwise acting as normal. And that there was another option for treatment, which was much less invasive than what was recommended (and presented as the only option, and essential). The month that passed was highly stressful for our entire family, then to find out that it was all unnecessary was very upsetting. After this experience with poor communication, I emailed my feedback to the clinic. I explained in my email that I was much too upset to speak on the phone (they always phone if you email, making me wonder why they even have email in the first place) and I specifically requested that they follow up by email or not at all. They chose to not follow up, a decision which is very difficult to understand as a business owner myself. What I excluded from that feedback (since the only email address goes right to reception, there is no manager contact info on the website and no other email available or any way to provide feedback confidentially) was that the receptionists are a major contributor to the negative experiences I have had here. On multiple occasions I was told information that as a new patient I could not have possibly known unless it was explained to me (which it was not). There is a consistently patronizing tone and liberal use of terms of endearment (i.e. “Honey” or “sweetie”) which is entirely unprofessional and rude. Here’s the best part: after sending this feedback and getting no reply (not surprising) one of my cats became quite ill overnight. I emailed (because they have email so you’d think that’s an appropriate option for communicating with them) asking about a supplement and if I could bring my cat in if he didn’t improve. They phoned and said the supplement is available. But I also asked about bringing my sick cat in and when I inquired about that (since they did not address it even though it was part of my request), I was told that I have to phone exactly at 8am if I want him see the same day. I did not ask to have him seem the same day, I said I might need to bring him in. I was taken aback that no alternative options were presented. When I followed up I was told they have no appointments until November and they can’t see everyone. So why wasn’t that explained when we were speaking? Something is really missing from the communication at this place. I will not be returning to this vet and cannot recommend it. It is disappointing as it came highly recommended to me. If you want to receive good customer service here you need never be upset about anything (good luck if your cat is sick), ask all the right questions (even if you’re dealing with a new and unknown situation) and advocate for yourself constantly. More patience, caring, and thorough explanation will go a long way in making everyone’s lives easier.
I initially posted the original narrative below, a year ago with 5 stars and have logged back in to provide an update. Although I initially felt I had met the vet who would help Eden, and they treated me more than fairly by supporting me with the ongoing costs I endured, I went onto spend money at this clinic, the 3rd I attended, for testing and treatments, including for my second Bengal, that were not effective. I thought it was me as I couldn't pill Eden or Tony and when I treated for t-foetus twice, I struggled to get the meds into Eden and then afterwards, Tony too. I thought I would have to put Eden down and seeing Tony was getting old, maybe him at the same time. $7000 later between three different vet clinics, and Eden having no relief from constant diarrhea for 2 years, although I had considered it before, someone said something to me that eventually motivated me to try feeding raw. I turned to Big Country Raw Turkey Sardine Beef flavour, adding a small amount of canned sardines to enhance flavour so Eden would eat it, and after one free trial portion, I saw it made a difference. After the second trial package I was convinced it made a difference. I have been feeding Eden raw for 2 months and she is healthier than I have ever seen her with normal stools; gained weight back; playful again, and happy! Vets do not typically recommend raw feeding. $7000 versus a package of raw food for $14.99...... No one knows how I endured the struggles with Eden of daily diarrhea, messes everywhere, but I did; and glad I persisted in trying to help her. If you are struggling with health issues with your pet, investigate raw feeding. Begin with commercial grade as it is easy. I will never go back to produced manufactured pet food. I wish I could get Tony changed over as it would likely give him a few extra years of healthy life. Please give it a try. I believe you will find it makes a difference in your pet's health. I took Eden here after taking her to two other vets with no resolution to her illness since last summer. Dr. O'Brien had done her research on Bengals before we even arrived for the appointment, then listened to my thoughts about the research I had done, and agreed with me regarding what needed to be assessed for. Dr. O'Brien was well informed and performed the necessary procedure in order to assess the situation most accurately which without having done so, I am sure the test would have returned negative and we would still be without any answers. Thank you for listening and doing your research. Hoping that Eden is on the road back to her typical self and feeling much better.
I had a very disappointing experience with the Cat Clinic late last week. My cat was given an emergency appointment on July 30 for cystitis and constipation. I was asked to leave her overnight so that she could receive fluids and have her eliminations monitored. I was called Thursday evening and told to pick her up the following day at 5pm, so that there would be results available. I arrived Friday at 5pm to pick her up and was asked to wait so that they could complete their discharges, and then the doctor would call me. Instead, I was asked by the admin staff to come to the front and pay, and they had my cat in her carrier. I asked for her results, and was told the doctor would call the following day (Saturday). I did not receive any call about results, I received zero information about what happened during the overnight stay (did she have a bowel movement?? I still don't know!), and worst of all, they did not provide me with any medication or treatment options for my cat, despite the fact that I CLEARLY asked for her to be prescribed Metacam for her cystitis (this is not the first time we have gone through this, and I knew ahead of time what the treatment was, but I feel I was disregarded by the vet who I spoke with). On Tuesday, August 4, after my cat spent the long weekend struggling to pee with an inflamed bladder, I had to call the clinic to get them to give me any information and treatment. I believe that they would not have followed up with me had I not kept calling. When I did finally get to speak to the vet she seemed surprised that I had not received a call with results. She then proceeded to prescribe Metacam at a dose that I have never received in the past. (She prescribed a 30mL bottle for two weeks. I have never been given more than 3mL bottles, and scripts for max 5 days). I was also told that I would be given free samples of some wet food to try, but I didn't receive those at all. This is all after spending almost $1000 at the Cat Clinic within the last month. I would be more than happy to pay that amount if given proper care, but this experience was very negative and definitely sub par, and certainly not worth what I paid. As someone who has worked in healthcare for many years, the lack of follow up is completely unacceptable. We would never allow this poor/lack of treatment for our human patients, and it's not acceptable for our animals either. I am very disappointed by this experience and will not be returning.
Overall a lovely clinic! In terms of accessibility, it's hard to get into the door; once you do the waiting area is quite small, but sunny and well laid out. The brown haired receptionist was warm and friendly. Looking around; everywhere there are cute and kooky cat decorations. I arrived 15min early for my appointment to fill out paperwork and in case of delays. Saw the veterinarian twenty minutes late, which is more than reasonable given that it is only two days til Christmas. However, no staff spoke to me the 45min I sat in the waiting area including 15min after my scheduled appointment time. A simple notice of the delay would have sufficed. Very happy with my cat's physical exam, the doctor was gentle and didn't hold my little guy still, letting him turn around and wander a bit. Ari warmed to him even though he was a stranger doing weird things to him. The exam room itself was cozy, sunny and clearly laid out well for cats. Ari jumped onto the table immediately which had a thick comfy covering on it. Then from there to the window. He also liked the shelf beside the door and waited there when the doctor left the room. I did find that I had to keep an eye on my cat as he decided that he wanted the treat container which was on open shelving. Dr.AJ did what he could to minimize the discomfort of the vaccines, which I appreciated as my cat started life out as a stray. Physical handling and interactions with my pet were gentle and assuring. I noticed the cost of the visit was not explained to me. At the time of payment the receptionist implied multiple times I couldn't afford to pay my invoice and acted as if taking payment with card and cash was an arduous task for her to undertake. If not for the wonderful experience with Dr. AJ and the care my furkid recieved I would not be returning, which is a shame as for the last decade I've heard how great this vet clinic was for my family friends who recommended them to me way back in 2006. Pros: Warm and welpcoming staff Community engagement Charity work Adoption program Clinic cat Cons: Tiny waiting area No wifi Customer service: - Incredibly rude to another client who was asking about a particular veterinary food. Didn't offer to check today's order and see if it's coming in or call to see if another clinic has it in stock. The client left visibly upset.
I’ll premise by saying that initially, my partner and I were really impressed. It did take over a month to get an appointment for our cat but that didn’t bother us, we realized that to see a specialist could take time. We had brought our 5 year old cat here due to her extreme hair plucking, which our regular vet attributed to anxiety but we had tried home remedies and antipsychotics and nothing worked. Our cat was bald throughout most of her lower body and tail due to her over grooming. The vet here seemed really nice and knowledgeable and after a quick check up told us she thinks it was due to allergies. She recommended a steroid shot and pills. Unfortunately our little cat ended up in a keto acidotic emergency within 24 hours of receiving this shot and starting the pills. We’re not blaming them for this but I feel like blood work would have been appropriate before starting a steroid. I’m not a vet so I won’t pretend to know better. However, because of this emergency occurring on the weekend we rushed to an animal hospital and had to put our cat down. We notified the cat clinic that following Monday and the vet called later that day and left us a voicemail to call back and discuss what happened and why the cat was put down. Again, that meant a lot to us but unfortunately after calling them back 3 times to try and speak to the vet, we have yet to hear back from them. It has been 3 weeks and we’re feeling pretty let down by this practice. Lastly, to echo some other reviews… the receptionists are not the friendliest and we’ve just been left wondering if we had not come here maybe our cat would still be around? Update: after a few weeks the vet finally called us. Apologized for the delay, blaming the system they use. She was nice enough, clearly had read this review before calling since she mentioned aspects of it in her discussion. We appreciate this but unfortunately it won’t bring our cat back.
Update: my cat was in their care for a few days after a long illness and unfortunatley she did have to he put down. I have no doubt during her time there they did all they could - she was on an IV for dehydration, as well as anti vomiting meds and pain killers. They checked in twice a day about her condition. Dr. Kornya counselled me and helped me make the decision of euthanasia and as always he gave a very complete explanation of different treatment options first. He was extremely sensitive during the process, even offering me 45 min with Gracie alone in a room to say goodbye (I didn't need it but it was a genuine offer). It was wonferfully comforting to see how much he cared and to get a hug at the end of a very sad experience. I highly recommend his veterinary care. Thanks to the whole clinic team. *** I have nothing but good things to say about this clinic. Both vets I have seen are generous with their time and good at explaining my cat's issues in a way I can understand. They are thorough in their assessment so you get your money's worth. The vet techs are all extremely friendly and accommodating. If you are a former visitor and call, they pull up your file right away and know your cat and her issues. If you ask them questions over the phone they will immediately speak to a vet and get an answer for you. Easy. They never say anything when I bring my cat in with no carrier, even though I'm sure they wish I would (I know, I'm going to buy one.) The best example of service: I needed to pick up pills for my cat but couldn't make it until after hours. The kind vet tech had the idea to let me pay over the phone and leave the pills for me in a hiding place outside so I could pick them up after. It's ways like this they do their best to make things easy for customers. Thanks Cat Clinic!
The cat clinic is the best vet you'll ever find. As a cat foster mom I've been to Alot of vets, vets in Hamilton and out in the country and I'd get ripped off every single time. There's no words for how thankful I was for finding the cat clinic. I would never go anywhere else. They'll fit me in last min on a Saturday. They're the most compassionate, knowledgeable vet I've ever been to. They always work with me to figure out a plan that I can afford. No other vets do that. Any other vet I've been to will ring up an outrageous bill and if you can't afford it then too bad. The cat clinic isn't about milking you for your money, they genuinely just want to get your cat better. They don't do unnecessary work, just what's needed to get your cat healthy again. When my cat died of cancer, they sent me a condolence card that the whole office signed. They also let me sob on their shoulder when I had to put him down. My cats get very stressed going to the vet, but they're so gentle, patient and caring, they make going to the vet as easy as possible. The reception staff are so friendly, they always remember me when I come in, my cat Toto loves them, they're great. If your reading this because you're looking for a new vet you won't regret taking your cat to them, I wish I could tell about each individual time I've been there, I have so many stories about how great they are, but this review would endup being novel long if I did that. Just trust me, they're the best.
What I don’t like about this business is the unprofessional and rude staff I have had to deal with just trying to order food for my cat. When I call to order before I can say anything I am put on hold for an unreasonable length of time and then I go through the same thing later in the day when I go to pick it up. Yesterday Aug 20th was the last straw, when I called to say I was there to pick up food for Jimmy I was put on hold…again. I took advantage of someone waiting outside to try and talk to a staff member, well 3 different staff members came out at different times and everyone of them were rude and told me to wait. My sister was in the car and said later “I can’t believe how they treated you”. I ended up leaving without the cat food and was left to my own devices to try and find something comparable, which I did. They talk on their message about unkindness and rude behaviour towards staff will not be tolerated, what about the same rules toward the customers? Does this not apply all the way around? They thought nothing of leaving customers standing outside in the hot sun and extreme heat and humidity only to get fed up and leave. Maybe more staff (well trained) would solve the problem. I will never go back to The Cat Clinic again, they are not the only game in town
I like this vet for the most part. I do wish we saw the same vet at each appointment as I find I get different ideas and recommendations about what we should be concerned about/ what we should be doing at home from each vet. Most of the staff here are nice. I have a very difficult cat and I appreciate anyone who is willing to see him. I do everything in my power to make my cat comfortable but he is still terrified of the vet. What I do not appreciate is being talked down to about how I need to consider "fear management" and then given a list of suggestions for things I already do. I also found one of the people who helped with my cat the last time I brought him in to be very defensive. She helped handle him, I thanked her, and she said to me "I know it may not look like I know what I am doing, but I do it for a reason". I found this comment quite hurtful because I never once said anything to question her abilities, nor did I ever think she did not know what she is doing. Overall, the vets here are good and that is what matters, but I do think some of the staff could practice better compassion towards the owners of the animals and avoid talking down to people who only want to do what is best for their cats
I brought my one older cat to the clinic. I always had to wait. Every time I brought her in for something minor, she would always end up getting seriously ill. Coincidence?? I switched vets and we never had these issues. The staff at my current vet always keep the examining rooms clean and we are always seen on time so they obviously are efficient in scheduling appointments. I didn't find this at The Cat Clinic. The vets are ok but I didn't always have the same one to develop a rapport with them. The final straw was when I called to ask if I could get help in finding a home or end up with me possibly adopting this beautiful stray at my workplace. The receptionist was less than helpful and said she can't help me and hung up on me. I was livid. After I finally calmed down, I had her file transferred immediately. We had a wonderful vet that looked after the needs of our puppy. I have since added to my beautiful fur family and give all my business to this wonderful and extremely caring vet that was recommended to me. It is nice just having one vet and one that we have developed a great rapport with and I can trust completely. I was so disappointed with the clinic and will never return.
We began taking our Siberian Forest Cat to the office a few years ago. I will never change my cats Veterinarian office. We see Dr. Matthew Kornya and he is by far the best Vet I have ever dealt with. I have absolute trust in his abilities and knowledge. His bedside manner is excellent. He always makes sure we understand excactly what is going on. With each visit my respect for him grows. Every single Registered Vet Technician and all the members of the support staff are caring, knowledgeable and a pleasure to deal with. The provide QUALITY care and take their time with each patient. My kitten has had all of her shots from this office and health checks and it has been a perfect experience each time. Dr. Kornya and staff saved my cats life a year ago. She had eaten a strap of stretchy fabric. It became trapped in her intestine and not only did they squeeze me in just before they were closing on the weekend. They stayed to perform the surgery and ensure Luna was doing well. I do not have enough good things to say about this office. If you truly value the health of your animal then this is where you need to be.
Vet Thomas Jackson was so gentle with my cat Holly, she seemed more comfortable with him than other vets we have gone to. He was also impressively knowledgeable compared to other vets to whom I've asked questions, and he explained in detail how the glands we were concerned about work, and made both my cat and I feel far more comfortable than other experiences. He even offered a small dose of pain medicine for her to comfort her before the procedure, where as other places did not. Receptionists were also friendly, helpful and patient. I previously took my cat to Beattie's, and left confused, rushed, and my cat's bottom was still not properly dealt with! The service and knowledge is not comparable! The Cat Clinic seems like it is actually run by people who truly love cats first and foremost, where as other places I've been to seem somewhat like a fast-paced money-driven business where time AND KNOWLEDGE is limited! Vet Thomas from The Cat Clinic will be my cat's new go-to vet. Exceptionally gentle, knowledgeable and does the job right.
I brought my elderly cat in because she had started walking into walls and such. I could tell her vision was declining. I was talked into doing a geriatric panel to make sure everything was ok. After the appointment I was told she checked out - her vision was fine. My cat proceeded to walk into things. One day about 6 or 7 months later ,she fell down the stairs and hurt her back leg very much. I took her to the emergency clinic where they told me her sight was nearly gone, she had a heart murmur and her kidney levels were elevated. The emergency clinic seemed puzzled that this wasn't brought up to me when I had gone to the cat clinic less than a year ago. I've been given the impression that the cat clinic did not actually examine my cat or do anything to help her. I'm very disappointed and a little bitter. Maybe my cat would not have fallen down the stairs if I had known about her declining condition. She hasn't walked properly or been the same since.
This is the only place we take our cats. And we've done so for many years. The Vets here are very friendly, caring, and know their stuff. But their prices are high and they are not willing to work out any sort of payment plan. Which often means the cats don't get the treatment that is in their best interest but what you can or can not afford. Years ago they did do payment plans and we never missed a single payment but they will no longer even consider it. I understand that some people may have taken advantage of this system but it wasn't us and we are a loyal customers. If your cat needs care, blood work, urine tests and so on there is a reason and you shouldn't simply wait until you can afford it as it might be too late. It should be about the care of your animal and often times it feels like it's more about the money and not the health of your animal. That is a bad feeling to have. A general vist, just to go is nearly 100 CDN. Costs add up quickly.
I had 4 cats. One was new and I was bringing him in to get his shots. A day after having him in my favourite cat became ill. I brought him in and they told me he had pancreatitis and had to stay at the clinic. The next day the cat I originally brought in became ill, then my other 2 the day after that. Turns out the all contracted the calici (spelling) virus. The clinic told me it was clearly my fault for letting them outside (never ONCE had they ever been outside) but if I treated them all they would all pull through. Within a week they advised me that 3 of them were not going to make it and should be put down. When my last cat was being put down the tech said that they have had a ton of cats come through with this virus. My cats died from their unsanitary clinic. On top of it all they charged me a crazy amount of money saying my cats would pull through and didn't offer me any sort of a break once they were all put down. AVOID AT ALL COST.
I've been taking my pet to The Cat Clinic for years, and recommend it to cat owners at every opportunity. What I love about The Cat Clinic is that the whole team treats your animal with exactly the same kind of affection, thoroughness, and delight that they would if it was their own pet. For annual checkups, this means: Answering your questions beyond your satisfaction; thoroughly identifying any risk factors specific to your animal and the environment it lives in; and ensuring that it has exactly the right preventative treatment for those factors. For emergencies or other unexpected visits, this means: Quick and competent diagnoses; treatment that ensures that your pet recovers completely and comfortably; and a commitment to regular follow-ups in order to give you, the owner, peace of mind. If you're looking for a veterinary clinic that will provide the best of care to both you and your animal, you'll find it at The Cat Clinic.
The Cat clinic took amazing care of my boy Lionel today. I went in unsure, confused, and worried about what was going on with him and left feeling assured knowing he was well taken care of and feeling so much better. They were so kind and empathetic to the situation and treated Lionel as if he were one of their own pets. They explained everything in great detail making sure I understood all of my options and addressed any and all concerns and were very thorough in treating Lionel. The fact that they only treat cats is another reason I like this place because they really know what they're talking about and made me feel even more confident that I took Lionel to the right place. The prices are reasonable as well. I will recommend this clinic to family and friends, your pets are in good hands the cat clinic. Edit: I didnt think this place could be any better but today (next day) the dr called to check on lionel. I'm blown away!
Probably one of the best vets I've ever been too! Brought my cat in after she developed a pretty bad Conjunctivitis infection in her eye. I was pretty panicked as we were brand new patients but I felt immediately comfortable with the staff and environment. You truly feel at ease in an office that doesn't feel cold & clinical like alot of places. We've had both attending doctors and we're incredibly pleased with the care and gentleness they show the cats and their humans. Staff are friendly and knowledgeable. Pricing wise, I think it's a little above average. However the care you receive makes it absolutely worth the slight price increase. Will be bringing all three of my kitties here! It's a little hard to find the first time because of the way the building is positioned further back. Parking is decent, with room in the driveway and on the street surrounding the office.
The receptionist with the glasses was extremely rude. No hello, just "who's this" pointing to my carrier. Then tells me at the door that I couldn't come in for the emergency appt for my anxious cat. I let her know I wasn't informed of this on the phone and her reply was "well they must have told you" No, you did not. As she took my cat's carrier she was not careful and bumped it into the wall. No apology. Best of all, why were my cats claws cut without my consent or any indication that you'd be causing my cat more distress than he was already in? If you didn't rush to close the door, I could have explained then that his paws being touched at all is distressing for him. Didn't think you'd have time to do something like that during an emergency appointment for possible poisoning. The vet said sorry over the phone - but I will definitely not bring my cat here again.
I and my now deceased mother, have been taking our beloved kitty cats to The Cat Clinic for years - back when the clinic was owned by Dr. Chernesky and then by Dr. O’Brien. I was actually an employee there for many years. The doctors and staff at the clinic are professional, extremely knowledgeable and most importantly- they are extremely compassionate and caring. When I had to euthanize my 18.5 year old kitty and then a few years later, his 21.5 year old brother, I was devastated. However, Dr O’Brien made the entire procedure both times, as quiet & peaceful as one could hope for. Both of my beloved little boys passed quietly and crossed the Rainbow Bridge while I held them in my arms. The entire support team at the clinic are amazing! Lynn always has my current kitty’s medication filled and ready to pick up same day!
After moving to Hamilton I was determined to find the best possible vet for my 6 year old cat. The Cat Clinic was it. They are kind, compassionate, and patient. Dr. Kornya treated my cat Pinecone like he was one of his own, and addressed all of my questions and concerns with confidence. We ended up opting to go ahead with a neuter, and his recovery has been immaculate. Not once did Pinecone seem uncomfortable, and we had a concern about his healing, we were able to bring him in free of charge to have our minds put at ease. I would recommend this clinic to anyone and everyone who considers their cat as part of their family. We could not be happier with the care that we have received, and will continue to bring Pinecone, and any future cats to The Cat Clinic.
We took our cat in on a Tuesday for a suspected urinary infection. We were told that we would get a call the next day about the results. We waited till Thursday then called to ask about any updates, and we told that we would get a call the next day and that they noted in our file we need an update by Monday of the next week. That never happened. No updates. Now we're gonna be gone for a week with no one able to pick up our medication and have to leave my grandma with a sick cat that won't use her litter box. I'd wouldn't be as annoyed if they could be honest and say it'll take awhile for results, but instead they keep telling me "tomorrow" and never reach out. Any other clinic would be better at this point, communication needs to be improved.
We spent the last 6 months seeking a diagnosis for our boy Gus at our previous clinic. Every visit left our old vet scratching his head and us increasingly frustrated. After hitting one too many dead ends, we knew we needed a second opinion. We found The Cat Clinic after doing some research online, and will ONLY be coming here from now on. Within the first 24 hours after his first appointment we received a diagnosis of Gus' condition and a course of treatment, and have already noticed a significant improvement in his condition. Dr. Matt and the clinic staff were professional, compassionate and extremely knowledgeable. There's no one else we'd now trust more with the well-being of our cat than the lovely folks at The Cat Clinic!
I recently brought my cat Kevin in to get his vaccinations, and couldn't be happier with my experience. Every employee in there was wonderful. The gentleman that was dealing with Kevin one on one was absolutely fantastic; Easy going and very informative. The ladies at the front desk, and those in the back were also terrific. There was no lack of knowledge, and I left with new information I had never received elsewhere. They were all so helpful in answering my many, MANY questions. And I left today satisfied in knowing that Kevin had been well taken care of, and that in his first vet experience ever, he won't be dreading his return next month!!! Thank you so so much, and keep up the wonderful work!!
I generally dont take the time to write reviews but i definitely feel the need to write a positive one here. My first thought is, how does this place not have 5 stars! I initially took my cat in to see Dr. Kornya after a broken foot that unfortunately lead to an amputation. I wish i had seen Dr. Kornya prior to other vets at other clinics. He was extremely informative and did everything he possibly could to help my little guy! Its been a year since the tragic accident and as Dr. Kornya assured me, my cat would be just fine and that he just is! i appreciate everything that Dr. Kornya has done and the other vets that have attended to my cat at the clinic!
Our first trip to the clinic with our new kitten. The trip was phenomenal and we’ve found our new vet clinic! Little Tish peed in her carrier and clinic personnel immediately took this a washed it out. She received gentle care and their expertise around how to quickly determine temperament and approach with your animal was amazing. Our kitten was comfortable and was even purring and enjoying all the petting and love. Pricing was reasonable and they even gave the kitten a complimentary “pedicure” (mail clipping) with the services. Two needles and a well kitten exam this time, but we will be returning shortly to have her fixed. Highly recommend this vet!
After going to two different vets I finally got some good answers today about my cats condition. The veterinarian Dr Jackson was very professional and really took the time to get a full history of my cat and troubleshoot a plan that seemed logical and economical. Don't mess around just go here, they may charge a touch more but you get what you pay for. Also I should mention I spoke the receptionist Leigh on the phone I didn't meet her when I was in but wanted to thank her, she was super knowledgable and accommodating on the phone. I probably wouldn't have come in if it wasn't for her. Both whitey and I thank you and we will most definitely be back.
To the Cat Clinic, I want to thank you for yesterday. thank you for understanding my situation, thank you for not just spilling the “e” word on the table, thank you for giving me options, but most of all, thank you for seeing my love in my beloved boy and how special he really is. I will miss him dearly, I already do. But I know he will make someone just as happy as he made me the last 3 years. I am so grateful I came to you for my situation and will recommend and continue to come to you with any further issues with my other fur babies. I am at ease of mind knowing he’s in such great hands and will be the rest of his life. Thank you so, so much.
The cat clinic is a great place to bring your cat. I thought my cat might have uric acid crystals building up which can be deadly. I was able to bring Gordie in right away to be tested. The vet I saw was very nice and understanding. They ended up having to keep him overnight to run some further tests. The next day when I picked him up they mentioned how much Gordie loves hugs and snuggles which he does. It turned out that he was fine but I'm glad I brought him in.It was a little expensive, it ran me $500 for the one visit but I understand that ultrasounds and tests add up quick. I was very happy with the service I received.
Both vets we've seen have been very knowledgeable and kind, and I've found their advice to be reasonable, realistic, and compassionate - which you might be lucky to get for your dog, let alone for your cat. The clinic is a little chaotic with scheduling and administration, but for me it's nothing compared to the very high standard of care. They seem in high demand and I get the sense everyone's doing their best to keep up, plus which I'm told they'll have increased capacity for appointments very soon. So, think of them as an excellent family doctor without urgent care capacity - and hopefully the last bit is changing soon.
I have been taking my cats, Ozzy and Oliver, to The Cat Clinic for a few years and have always been impressed with the service and care provided. In the last month, Ozzy has unfortunately been in and out of the hospital, but the care provided by all the doctors, technicians, assistants, and reception staff has been SO above and beyond our expectations. It's been unbelievably stressful for us all, but having an incredible team of honest and dedicated professionals with integrity and passion has made all the difference. We are SO thankful for The Cat Clinic and all of the fabulous team members for everything they do.
Highly priced and in Nov 28th 2020 i had my cat xrayed and then i was told he had cancer of the lung (Lymphoma) and had roughly 3 weeks to a month to live...then they called twice after that within a week and half to try having me agree to arange for my buddy to be put down....this was near 500 dollars after the x ray and the origanal purpose of the visit and my cat is still here. For 2 months i was expecting and preppared...nothing. that kind of stress was unwarranted and if your technichians cant make a right call you should be employing them....how many other people have had similar expieriences i wonder.
We found The Cat Clinic to be affordable, professional and extremely compassionate about our cat's needs. The vets were very gentle and answered all of our questions very patiently. As we were unsure our cat would enjoy the special food prescribed, they offered us free samples and free "pill pockets" to aid us in administering pills. They have a guarantee on the food they sell, if your cat doesn't like it you can return it for a full refund. They were very tactful when we had to put our cat down and gave us all the time we needed to say goodbye. Highly recommended for pet owners who want kind cat experts.
I have been taking my cat to this clinic for about 3 years. They are very knowledgeable, professional and understanding. Recently my cat became very sick and had to go to emerge as the clinic was not open. The diagnosis was not good at that time. Fortunately, I was able to get into the Cat Clinic the next day and with their expertise they were able to reevaluate him and treat him. He's now back to his old self! They went above and beyond to keep me informed, respected my personal situation with my pet and reassured me the whole way. Your cat will be in excellent hands at this clinic!
Called today to try and set up an appointment, asked about payment plans and was told they don't offer them even though I know a family member of mine got one there (to be fair they only offered it to her when she almost had to put her cat down because she didn't have the money upfront for a surgery she needed which ended up costing so much more because of a wrong diagnoses in the first place). So I asked and the receptionist asked me for my family members name and sounded pretty flustered before saying they had to stop payments with her.. She made a payment literally yesterday...
When covid is constantly an excuse for the (poor) level of service and client-care being provided and when stressed and incompetent employees mistake concern for rudeness (when it was not the latter) when asking information about a sick pet after having spent hundreds of dollars this week alone (and after having had a previous tragic experience), it is time to move on. I will miss Dr. O’Brien, Dr. Jackson and Maria, but to the others who totally ruined our experience and repeatedly minimized our concerns, don’t let the door hit your backside on our way out.
They accepted our cat on short notice (within an hour before close) during these uncertain times. She received great care and all staff was very nice. She didn't respond to the first prescription so I called a couple days later for a follow up and the staff was very considerate over the phone. We proceeded with a new medication and a week later our cat is back to her normal self. I really appreciate their care and communication and feel comfortable taking our cats to the cat clinic for any future veterinary needs. Thank you from Fidge and her family!
Every experience I've had at The Cat Clinic has been wonderful. The staff are all very friendly and you can tell that they really do care about the well-being and comfort of your cats above everything else. I always leave feeling reassured and with new information that I've never been told by other professionals. Special mention to Dr. Kornya who truly defined "above and beyond" when I was dealing with a difficult situation with one of my cats. I couldn't be more grateful for the amazing support and expert care that we received. Thank you!!
I love the Cat Clinic. The vets and staff are very knowledgeable and caring. I like taking my cats to a clinic that specializes in them, because I know they're getting the best possible care. When my cat was a kitten, she had problems with diarrhea. Our previous vet clinic did nothing to solve the problem for months, but the Cat Clinic immediately knew what was wrong and the problem was gone in 2 weeks. We switched the the Cat Clinic immediately and have been there ever since. We couldn't be happier with their care!
We had to have our two cats euthanized this past year. Bubby in October and Mofi today April 10. Very difficult as cat lovers would understand. We used the Cat Clinics mobile home service. Having the procedure in our home was so less traumatizing for our cats. We r still grieving bc Mofi just left us. This service is so great. Vets send cats to Gateway for us so we will have their ashes. Never easy but the in home service is so important to us. Less trauma for cats and us! Thank You Cat Clinic for great service!
Took my little feline to the vet for her sore paw, they not only took the time to assess the situation & give her some medication but also to give me very detailed advice. The vet even called me from her home phone the next day to check up on my girl. It is definitely a little pricey but I talked to many others waiting outside (covid restrictions preventing us from going in) & everyone had nothing but good things to say about the clinic. It is worth the money 100% when a place goes the extra mile like this.
I have been coming to the clinic for 6yrs because of how amazing they have been. 6yrs ago my new kitten had a lot of medical issues and they saw her at least once a week for a month to follow up on her progress. About 2yrs ago she had stones in her bladder and because of a clinical trial they had what would have been $500 visit was $100 including all following up xrays. Time and time again not only has this vet saved me money but they helped take care of my kitty and get her healthy again. Client for life!
Very good service, great follow up. I bring all 3 of my kitties here when they need some TLC. I apologize to the staff for subjecting them to The Bringer of Despair (aka my senior girl Jubejube) when we come in for a nail trim. Other vets have said that they would need to put her under in order to trim her nails, based on the drama she puts out (Ms. Despair does NOT like nail trims). But The Cat Clinic does a great job every time with no complaint (or obvious lacerations). Recommended.
I had the most wonderful experience at the cat clinic today. After trying out different vets in the past and not getting the care I wish to receive for my pets this place was truly a breath of fresh air! I highly recommend this clinic for all the cat lovers. And i really wish that all veterinarians were so knowledgeable and attentive. I know that my baby is on a way to recovery after being misdiagnosed on the past and I will be exclusively using this clinic in the future.
Truly a great clinic. It is so nice having a place where you can take your kitties without having a barking dog in the next room. The knowledge and expertise of the veterinarians truly make you realize the quality of a specialist veterinarian. I always feel like the staff are happy to be treating my cats and that gives me a lot of peace of mind. I adore Dr. Matt and Dr. O'Brien. I am happy to say that I will never have to worry about someone else taking care of my cats.
I can’t think of a better place to have brought my cat to. Unfortunately she had to euthanized. The doctor and staff were very caring. They didn’t rush me. While I was sad to proceed, I was grateful that my cat just went to sleep peacefully without further suffering or pain. Clearly they care about their patients. I would recommend this place to anyone who loves their cat. God bless them for the kind and good work they do to help our little voiceless family members.
The vets and staff are awesome! I took my two cats there and they are so helpful and considerate. My one cat, Church, was very sick. So I took him there and he was given some meds with strict instructions. Right now he's back to his old self. My others cat Chili has a heart mur- mur and was given some meds also. Long story short, I'm taking him back for a follow-up. The clinic has really knowledgeable staff and they will take care of your cat. Reasonable prices.
This is a fantastic vet clinic! The service and care from all staff goes above and beyond. Our cat had a urinary blockage and needed to stay for several nights- his care team provided service that we don't even expect for humans. We received multiple daily updates and were always provided with enough time for all our questions to be answered. We would recommend this vet to anyone. Prices are slightly higher than other chains, but you get what you pay for.
Absolutely fantastic service. I took my cat EZZY there for the first time today for a small scabs on her neck and tge doctor was extremely professional and very informative..The rates they charge are very reasonable too.. id highly recommend them with complete confidence. If I had to come of with one criticism it would be that I wasn't allowed to leave or allowed inside but I do completely understand during these covid times so its perfectly okay with me
When they have vets available, they are fine. If your cat has an actual medical problem they now tell you to go somewhere else. Otherwise, they are not taking any appointments for the next three months. I don't know what this place is anymore, but what it isn't is a normal vet. I hear they are sold to Beatie's and will close after Dec 2022. I'm not going to wait, so Queensdale Animal Hospital it is! Too bad, end of an era for the Cat Clinic.
Took my cats here for various ailments. The receptionists are very cheerful and friendly. I’ve had a few experiences here with different vets. One tried their best to limit the amount of testing and medications while another ordered many tests and suggested my cat stay there for 4 days. All of this totalling over a couple thousand dollars, only to find nothing wrong with her. I did have one of my cats spayed here and they did a good job.
I couldn't recommend this place more, I had a cat who was showing signs of illness and within 30 seconds they were able to diagnose what other vets couldn't or wouldn't. I sadly had to put my baby down, but they helped made the awful experience easier on me. I have recommended them to friends and neighbors and they have had great treatment as well. If the staff of the clinic can see this, thank you.
I just left the Cat clinic today with my cat Sophia. While in the room discussing vaccination for Sophia the doctor, Matthew -- I think, was extremely honest about the vaccinations and what my cat needed since I had missed a few vaccinations previously. I was placed in a room fairly quickly and since I arrived quite early. Thank you Cat clinic and your GREAT service! I will most certainly be back!
This is a cat only clinic. That's a good thing .. because a vet trip can be pretty stressful on most animals The vets and support staff are excellent. They took care of my previous fur angel after he was diagnosed with progressive kidney disease. When he passed in 2013 and I got a new baby in 2016. They take care of her too. If I was to get any more cats ...they would be my choice in care!!!
They are still enforcing mask mandates and wouldn't let me go in with my cat. Even after I asked about it when making the appointment. They seemed to only care about taking my money. They also forgot to put the appointment in their system, so when I arrived they had no idea why, it was an emergency. It's sad because the vet herself is quite kind, I used to love this place and feel safe here
Highly recommend The Cat Clinic. Dr Hall skillfully removed a large polyp from Violets throat that was causing her breathing issues and ear infections. She kept us informed throughout the day explaining everything that was happening. We are so thankful for the care and experience of all the staff at the clinic …. A heartfelt thank you. We trust the cat clinic 100% with our precious Violet.
It's definitely a difficult thing to say goodbye to a pet but this office has been exceptional in the entire process. The thing I love most was the sympathy card I received for the loss of my cat. They truly care for their "patients" and it shows. I highly recommend The Cat Clinic. They are thorough and precise. They care about their pets like they were their own. Respect
Excellent place excellent service , Dr . Emily is wonderful with Da Creep and she likes the Dr. If you love and care about your cat then bring him/her here and you won’t be disappointed with the care and treatment because it’s very obvious that the staff care about the patients they are treating. Plus Creep loved the attention like she doesn’t get enough at home ..
My girlfriend and I had to bring Juicebox in on the hardest day of our lives. He was old and it was his time. The Cat Clinic saw me on super short notice and made the experience as comfortable as possible. The staff there are great and the decor is wonderful and feels like a home rather than a clinic. Will be bringing all future cats here for yearly check-ups.
I've been taking my cat to this clinic for a few years and recently adopted a kitten through their adoption program. They've been excellent with my skittish older cat and the kitten through her spay process - which the kitten has not made easy. They're easy to communicate with and all the staff are super knowledgeable and helpful! Best place to take your cat!
Dishonest clinic. They will gauge you for money in every way that they can. I was charged over $1100 for testing on my cat and told that she has gingivitis and needed surgery.... went to two other clinics to confirm and was told otherwise. Receptionists are unfriendly and the clinic is hard to get ahold of. Spend your money elsewhere, your pets deserve better
Worst clinic in town. There is a major chance your cat comes out of this facility worse than when they came in. They will charge you for procedures they did not provide as well as for medication they did not provide. Staff is very ignorant and vets are severely under educated in their profession and are only out to make money. Pathetic business practice.
The BEST vet I’ve ever had. I will always recommend them. Always. I’ve been 3 times now with my one cat and they’ve treated him with respect and care. They’re the cheapest around, and I like that it’s cats only. Due to my skittish cats, this works perfect! I can’t say enough good things about this place!! If I could give more than 5 stars, I would.
Our cat has been diagnosed with cancer. Dr. Matt Kornya and Dr. McKeown have been amazing. Dr. McKeown saw me after hours on Saturday and followed up Sunday evening. They really give you peace of mind. They are helpful, patient and understanding. If you own a cat this is truly the best care you can provide for your pet. They know cats. Thank you.
I have been taking both my cats here since I moved to Hamilton. The people at The Cat Clinic are pros and treat my cats with the utmost respect and care. They are very knowledgeable, friendly and best of all aren't pushy with unnessecary tests and products for your cat. Would definitely recommend them if you're looking for a new vet or a change.
Tina was amazing, and all the rest of the staff there very helpful. Bed side manner was impeccable, and Tina actually treated us like we understood what was happening, while also explaining reasons behind her thoughts, unlike other locations we have visited. My only complaint is how difficult it is to get an appointment time, they are so busy!
This dedicated assortment of front line feline healers have your back emotionally and financially. They are worth your time and investment even if you are driving from outside Hamilton. Together we saved my kitty from having his leg removed. Here he is, 2 days out of a three month splint with 3 more month of rehab to go. happy family
They were great with helping my little girl Mavis with issues surrounding anxiety. They took a lot of time to explain and we trialled different non-medicated routes before deciding that medication was the best option for getting her back to her normal self. She’s a lot happier and I am very appreciative of the fantastic vets here.
Dr. Hall is such an amazing and genuine animal lover. It really shows. I always take my cats here, especially because my cat already has high anxiety, and the sound of other animals would really terrify him, so the fact that it's dedicated specifically towards cats is awesome! Receptionists are very sweet as well!
After 3 visits to my (now old) vet in a few months,I turned to the cat clinic and they are amazing. So patient with me and my cat, and they handled her high anxiety so well. All my questions were answered. Very fair pricing and amazing welcoming people. Love this clinic. Now will be my regular clinic.
The Cat Clinic always has great service, and the staff are wonderful. We can always get in quickly, which is important. They worked with us to help get a payment plan for some expensive dental work, and that was a giant help. I would absolutely recommend them for your kitties needs!
I was so happy with service I got here, and it will definitely be my go to cat clinic. The staff are very friendly, and the vets are incredibly understanding and compassionate. My cat was adored here, and she loved the staff. I know she got the best possible care during her 3 days.
I am so happy I found the cat clinic they gave me hope for my cat pumpkin and now he is able to come home. The Dr's and staff there are very compassionate to their clients. I thank god for them, they saved my cat. I can't thank them enough for what they have done for me. Thank you
A very warm understanding and friendly atmosphere. Empathic . Didn't feel rushed but very comfortable and at ease. They took care of my cat with the most friendly tone and gentle hands. Highly recommended bringing your cat their. Parking Wheelchair accessible The costs are fair
Very good service, from the receptionists and the doctors. It feels like they really care about each and every patient who's there. Our cat is feisty and strong willed, but they take very good care of him to ensure he's in and out as quickly as possible with minimal stress.
I’ve taken my kittens Greg and Susan to the cat clinic for their first few rounds of vaccines! The staff is very friendly. And the doctors are very knowledgeable and open to all and any questions! They’re great with the kitties. They will definitely be my vet going forward
On top of very thorough specialty knowledge of cats, every staff member I have dealt with is pleasant and helpful. They are also easy to reach via email if you work odd hours, and the house call option was life changing for my terrified little Kitty.. Lovely place.
They were kind helpful, genuinely seem to want the best for their patients. A bit more affordable then other clinics. Also because this clinic specializes in caring for cats only they have a broader knowledge of all things feline then most vet clinics do.
My cat (and by proxy I) have always received excellent service here. They are highly skilled, resourceful and empathetic. They've saved my cat's a few times now over the course of 12 years. Dr. Koryna is particularly impressive with his way with cats.
Super-good people. Right away, I established a solid rapport with the vet that treated our cat. No waiting beyond our appointment time, fair prices on veterinary services and medication. Fully recommended. Thanks for the good medical treatment!
Dr. Tina Hall is an excellent, genuine, caring and diligent veterinarian. She truly puts her heart and sole in treating her patients while consoling the pet's owner. The staff are truly wonderful and great. I highly recommend The Cat Clinic.
THE BEST vet clinic for your cat. I've been with the Cat Clinic for over 20 years and would never consider going anywhere else. The staff are so knowledgeable and so caring, they will take best care of your furry family members.
There is no better place in Hamilton to take your little family member to. Every experience I've had here has left me grateful for their hard work and empathy while facing sometimes uncertain times. Couldn't recommend more.
Although somewhat pricey this is the best clinic around for cats. They are extremely kind and understanding, when I needed an emergency appointment they pushed me in right away! They are knowledgeable in all things cat
Great service, always get my kitties seen quickly when a medical emergency comes up. They take their time to be comprehensive and it is a very compassionate environment. Wouldn't want to take them anywhere else!
Super friendly staff and vet! They don't make you feel bad if you haven't been to the vet in a while (like some other vets do). Not pushy and up front about fees. I'll be going back to the Cat Clinc for sure!
They take great care of our scaredy cat Casca and this is also where we adopted her little sister. They treat the cats very well and obviously love each of their patients as much as their families do.
The staff were very friendly! The vet was kind and patient with my kitty, gave me options for care, and was very thorough with the checkup. The clinic cat Silly is adorable as well.
Thank you so much for your compassion and caring when it came to letting my 20+ year old cat pass over the rainbow bridge. Could not have asked for anything more. You are the best.
Excellent service, they are unbelievable, our cat (Fitten) would not be alive if it wasn't for Dr Liz and all the staff at the cat clinic. very compassionate and reasonable.
They are wonderful. You can tell they love cats. Our delta is very calm and comfortable when taking her in to see a vet. They try to get to the bottom of every problem.
Very friendly staff. Dr. Liz is amazing. I will be sorry to see her retire, but she deserves it. I love that there are only cats here. Much less stress for my cat.
Dr. O'Brien has retired but here credentials are still being advertised. It would be nice to know something about the vets who are actually taking care of my cat.
I love the Cat Clinic. The staff are super friendly both to me and to my cat. They run on time, are honest, helpful and knowledgeable. I would highly recommend.
Dr. Liz Obrien has to be one of THE MOST gentle veterinarians I have ever met. She has a magical touch with cats that I have never seen before. Beautiful!!
We recently had to have one of our cats euthanized and the staff was very caring and sympathetic
Great clinic, really knowledgeable and skilled vets, lovely reception crew. Highly recommended!
