Ive had a horrible experience with this location. Same as above, rude and inappropriate. They would tell me regularly that my visa card didn't go through (when clearly I can see that it should have) and then they would charge me a late fee - they told me that the TD Visas didn't work properly with their system.. I went in there several times showing them my account statement to prove that there was no reason why the charges shouldn't have gone through in an effort to get them to reverse the late charges ($15-$30 each time) sometimes it was a fight sometimes it wasn't. In the winter they did not clear their lot so I was unable to gain access to my unit and belongings. I would often have to come in (to deal with the visa and payment issues) They would see me walking in - As I would pass them on my way up the steps and into the office, however they would sit out and finish their cigarettes before acknowledging that I was there. Eventually new management took over, I was happy as I just have had a horrible experience at this point.I was making plans to move into my new place and I mentioned to the office lady that I was going to be moving out - She mentioned that I was paid up till the 15th and as long as I was out by then I was fine! so I proceeded to move the rest of my belongings out on the 14th of that month, it was late in the evening and the office was closed. I removed my lock and left the door open - so they could see in their morning walk around it was empty... perhaps? I spoke to the office personal about 3 days later to make sure everything was good and that the unit was cleared and I had no additional charges (cleaning fees or whatever) They said if there was any issues they would call me. Never did hear from them. Its now been 6 months and I'm getting registered mail notices of failed payments and a notice for Auction...?? THE UNIT IS / WAS EMPTY.... No one officially closed the contract and I now apparently owe them over 6 moths in late rental charges... I'm currently fighting this - and the new management has been very kind to deal with. I sure hope they were not reporting this on my credit. I hope the new management (for the 3rd time in 2 years) can do some good for this location. Cause it definitely lacks some customer service.

All they had to say to me is they will take care of me but yet to even call me to fix any of this major set back in my life. They cant even tell me who stole all my belongings nor can they take the time to look at cameras to find the employees that cut my lock and stole everything i own between moves. They don't cant tell me where it may have gone nothing. Just told me to start a claim number report. Terrible experience. Would never rent from any Uhaul again and wouldn’t suggest Uhaul to anyone I know. I arrived at the location as indicated in my booking email to pick up my trailer, only to be told that my booking wasn’t there but at another location a 20 minute drive away. After arriving at the second U-Haul location it was found out that one of the lights on the trailer was not working. The agent went back inside to try to find another trailer and was told there was one trailer available in a city a 1.5 hour drive away, and another trailer that would be returned at 2pm - at the original location I had gone to for my rental - that was to be for a pick up the next day. As a one and a half our drive was not realistic with my time limitations for move out I asked if I could have that trailer and the agents could work to get another one for the next days customer. My request was followed by a “no” because the other location “didn’t want to inconvenience the customer coming in tomorrow”. We had to press the agent to look for alternate trailer sizes, alternate vehicle options, anything at all that might be of assistance. Nothing. No help. No concern for the situation whatsoever. He simply offered to return my $50 “guaranteed reservation” fee.
This company has 100%the WORST customer service I have ever experienced...and it is a hassle from the moment you book till the moment you drop off your rental and even after its dropped off...when I'm in line there all I see is unhappy customers who are not only basically paying to be inconvenienced, and tested with disrespect and contempt that it might actually be easier to move you entire home on a pedal bike. Hands down the WORST company right from the first phone call down to the cashier's and most especially the management...if they actually thought their staff to be polite and helpful ... What customer service IS...then the workplace might be less stressful for these poor unhappy people they have working for them at the front lines ....buy am I glad that's not my job... In happy customers and bosses who push and push to have volume instead of value and quality customer interactions...U-Haul makes me ashamed to be in the customer service industry... Completely dissatisfied and a huge waste of time. I only wish I could give negative stars.
Rented a unit the end of January 2021 under the impression my things would be stored safe. I left the country for 4 months to come back to find out my unit had been broken into. Never received any email or phone call about it , asked to speak to the manager twice on top of asking to see some sort of footage or have someone at least look at it and get back to me. Which was told only the manager can do . NO ONE got back to me , I then called head office and had someone tell me they would look into it. Received a letter stating there’s nothing they can do and that no direct negligence with uhaul or their employees. A phone call from the manager even saying I’m sorry your unit was broken into we didn’t find anything on camera would have been suffice but I couldn’t even get that ! My sons baby box with his things he was brought home from the hospital in and 3D ultrasound were stolen among with other items that cannot be replaced ! That’s what I’m the most upset about, on top of all the designer items down to Starbucks tumblers ! Thanks for nothing uhaul !
As far as storage & moving facilities go, U-Haul has a solid solution for anyone who is facing either or both of those circumstances. With many sizes of storage units and vehicles to choose from its easy to see why U-Haul is a leader in this industry. The property is clean and has great staff. There is a washroom within the enclosed site and has a place to store even the largest motorhomes and tractor trailers.. whatever your transitional needs are you can be assured they have you covered. The prices are fair and will accommodate any budget and they have everything one could need to help facilitate the process whether it's a box for the large flatscreen, fragile dishes, wardrobe, books, or a lock or even straps to tie down the load as you drive off into the horizon. They also have 24hr access and have many cameras on site. All in all its hard to think of why they shouldn't get 5 stars. If you are planning a move or just need a great location to trust your belongings in storage for a period of time, I would choose U-Haul again and again..
Unprofessional staff here, I booked my uhaul for 2 days by visiting this location and on the day of my pickup just before 2 hours they said they can’t give me truck for 2 days so anyhow I said ok I’ll manage just give me for a day so that I can have something to move my stuff because Couldn’t find anything else in the evening and when i visit this location to pickup the truck and they said we can’t give you truck for more than 6 hours. Really unprofessional service, so disappointed and they don’t know their job and if you really want to rent uhaul don’t go to this location because its messed up, Ended up renting 3 pickup trucks from somewhere else and paid thousands of dollars just because of the stupid staff working here who don’t know if booking is done than they have to arrange the truck , can’t just say that we can’t give you truck. So dumb and stupid staff here. Should hire new staff or close this location if you dont know how to manage.
I would NEVER recommend this place. We rented a Uhaul in May 2018. Was told to leave the keys in the mailbox if we dropped off that night. The guy that walk us out to the truck did NOT do a prior walk through. He handed us the keys., asked if we knew how to reverse and then left. (My boyfriend and I for witnesses.) We used it for about 7 hours. Picked up in the afternoon. I drove it to my house close by in millwoods. Filled it up with gas. Dropped it off that evening at 9pm. Nobody was there. We then got a call the next day saying they had found a dent on the rooftop. We did not hit anything or nobody walked on the roof. Asking for $1000 for damages!! We tried calling the manager of this location. They said they would call back and never did. We got mail today and are now asking $1200! They are just asking for money. Using our age to say we did something to the truck when we did not. (18 and 20).
I would give a negative rating for all of Uhaul if I could. Someone extended the reservation of the person before me at the 6 avenue location, so I was left with no truck. Was also told starting that day, they will no longer be a Uhaul dealer. I was then sent to 17th street over 20 minutes away in order to get the same size, leading to higher mileage and higher gas cost. At this location, the person helping me added our information to the wrong reservation, about to give us a 10' vs a 26'. The whole pickup process took way too long. With the previous mixups and delays, I wasted 2 hours of precious moving time when it was already a very time restricted timeline. Uhaul representative was not able to give me any type of credit worth all this trouble. I will never use Uhaul again and will never recommend or advise anyone to use them.
Overall the experience was ok, nothing to REALLY complain about but just some poor decision making / planning on Uhauls end. The sales rep was friendly and did everything I had asked and could expect from him, all good on that front. My criticisms though are: 1) there is no customer parking in their lot, 2) I had reserved a dolly and blankets but upon arrival someone the night prior “needed them” so my equipment was given away, 3) I have no idea why you would give someone a truck that has less than a quarter tank of gas, no matter what distance they are travelling, 4) I did the online check in but essentially went through the check in process again inside with the associate, seemed like a waste of time. Overall it was fine, got what I needed from them, wasn’t a horrible experience just not as refined / organized as expected.
Terrible customer service. If you must use Uhaul I'd seriously reccomend using a different location unless you want to get kicked out of the store even though you prepaid because you speak with an accent... and get a door slammed so hard on you the glass shakes. Can't say for sure but most likely they are racist toward black people. And then when you file a complaint the manager closes the file and labels it as solved because it was him and his wife that were rude to you in the first place... just disgusting. Thankfully the general manager gave me a full refund and apologized. Doesn't fix my broken TV and scratched furniture that slid all around the 26 foot truck we were forced to get from a different location since this location refused us the 10 foot that we booked -_- what a nightmare.
As I reached to the door to pick up my reserved u-haul truck …. The entrance door was broken, then reached to front desk the guy on shift looked like he just woke up all Messed up , then he told us there is quarter tank of gas which wasn’t there , then I came back to returned the truck but I forgot to filled the gas so he told me I can pay for gas and told me it’s going to be $70 cash charge and he can fill that for me …not even showing up on my bill or I can go get gas …. I chose to go get the gas and he told me to buy 10 litter of gas but I only drove 10.2 miles ….. is the truck really use 1 litter per mile .. What a great experience I had
Can't believe how they run this business. Had a reservation made for a 5x8 enclosed. Had everything completed over the phone, was told everything was good and I would receive a call to set up exact pick up time. Well didn't work like that. Received a phone call at 5:50pm day before pick up and was told they actually don't have any trailers. Closes one is Athabasca !!! Needed this trailer to move furniture to Fort Mcmurray, stayed an extra night in hotel that cost me 200$, because they said they had a trailer for me to pick up in the morning. Unprofessional way to run a business. I could of tried and found one somewhere else, but was told I had one. Now it's to late in the day and everything is closed. Thanks u-haul.
The truck was clean and the mobile pick-up was easy to use. Finding the number on the truck was challenging for a moment (look at the top right of the front side of the actual box of the truck) but the in-person customer service agent was friendly and helpful. Downsides are there was nowhere to park your own vehicle so I had to park at the empty business south of the location and they forgot to include my furniture pads in the truck but I'm pretty sure I was still charged for them. When I clicked for customer service to contact me, I'm pretty sure they just processed my contract without deducting the furniture pads. I wouldn't bother ordering furniture pads for my next move.
The incompetence of the staff working at the 17th street location is unreal. Unless you happen to call or go in on a day that trish is working you will most likely have a bad experience and leave angry. And dont get me started on the late fees!! A bunch of nazis over there. I've never had a lien thrown on something within the first week of being late... on a 50$ payment non the less!! And I guess working out of town is absolutely no excuse in their eyes. I 100% would suggest finding a different storage facility than uhaul 17th street. If you're looking to store a trailer, it's the smallest and most unkept place in the city. Just a word of warning to anyone who reads this.
This service was APPALLING. We paid over 2k to use there UBOX to move from Ontario to Alberta, we've been calling since arrival to schedule drop off and have been transferred from number to number telling us days to call.We call that day and the guy goes "oh..yeah we've had it since last Friday..no one called you?" When we called: Friday, Saturday, AND now MONDAY AND TUESDAY. Only to be told we will now be charged even more money for drop off? THIS SERVICE IS A JOKE. Do not use it if you do not want a headache. Our stuff has been gone for almost a month and they are charging you an arm and a leg for absolutely nothing. My family is disgusted with this service.
I would give a negative rating if I could. Horrible customer service. The guy at the desk had an awful attitude . Van was filthy. Van's cabin was filthy. Mainly U-hauls' gas policy is made to confuse customers so they can charge you more money. They give you 1/4 tank of gas and then when you return it (especially after hours return) they would say gas was low and they would charge whatever they want to with $30 service charge. Guys please rent a vehicle from the place where they give you a vehicle with full tank so you return them with full tank. no confusion... I would not go to this place or even rent a vehicle from U-haul ever again..
After a 1 star visit to Home Depot to try to rent a trailer, I came to U-Haul on 17th Street and had a 5 star experience. I have used this location on several occasions renting a truck and other trailers. The visit this month was 5 star service. I did not have a reservation and the staff there took care of what I needed. In 15 minutes I was setup and hitched up. I did my chores and returned the trailer cleaned and after hours. The mobile check-in was super easy and convenient. And the cost of the trailer was cheaper than Home Depot. I value convenience, cost and customer service and U-Haul at this location exceeds all my expectations.
First of all - the chick working at the front desk with her feet on the counter, REALLY? Secondly, a friend is sitting behind her doing nothing while there is mutiple people trying to get help. Not only that - UPDATE something that says you can't do propane! Not only does your website say it but the actual propane U-HAUL sign says they fill 7 days a week, including all holidays. Don't offer something your not able to fulfill or have it posted that your not doing this service. Your WASTING PEOPLE'S TIME.
Today was going to be a terrible day if joshua didnt exist ( hope i write the name right ) .this guy is AMAZINGGGGG I called 9time today trying to figure out my storage unit and all the sh..t that goes with it. This guy answered all my question with the same enthusiasm on every phone call . IT TAKE ME AN OUTSTANDING CUSTOMER SERVICE FOR ME to take my time to write a review . The young woman who set up our services when we arrived was extremely rude and aggressive. She yelled at us while we were figuring out where to park, didn't make eye contact, no smile or thank you or goodbye, basically no manners at all. I got the feeling that if you gave her a kitten that she would have used it as a football. I can understand everyone has a bad day but this was a bit much. We definitively will not be returning to this location. If I could give a negative -1 star I would.
We quite literally moved on the coldest weekend in Edmonton in what seems like ever! The service was phenomenal, and they were very patient with answering all my questions. When we returned the vehicle early, they happily offered me a refund of some of my payment, and were very friendly throughout. My only thought is that they need more computers. It's a very small and busy office with only 2. The wait time was quite long for the few people that arrived after me. I felt bad for them.
Have used this location twice. First time no problems. Second time I had tried to book online but couldn't make it to the submit order page. Went in to book a truck in person and I got friendly service. Got a call an hour before my pick up time that the unit I had booked was unable to make it back to the lot for my time. They moved me into the next size truck and everything was good from there. Only reason not 5 stars is because of the issues with online booking.
Stopped in to rent a small trailer for a couple days early on Boxing Day. Guy named Devin helped me pick out a trailer that would be adequate for the job. Devin was knowledgeable about the various trailers, polite, friendly and he took care of things quickly so I could get on with my day. Upon returning the trailer, again Devin was there and quickly took care of everything. Very nice this u-haul location has great staff like Devin.
Very bad experience this time I don’t know what type of truck they give it to me I’m sure there is a wiring issue truck automatically shutdown and start in a second several time while driving I think there is less gas so I fill 20 dollar gas to but it still same shutdown and start several time didn’t done my all moving all lights were turned off it’s not to safe for driving so drop it back to the uhaul place..
I was hired as a set of hands to help a woman unload her ubox. There were supposed to be two of us helpers, and when Trevor realized I was without help, he offered his own services. He was very quick and efficient in loading the uhaul with me, despite -25° weather. Definitely recommend giving him a raise! He stuck it out and didn't complain at all. Offering his own help is already above and beyond.
The employee that my husband dealt with was incredibly incompetent. It took us over an hour to pick up the trailer we had reserved because he had to read the entire contract to us word for word. When we returned it he tried to put the deposit back onto my husband's card 3 times. We just checked his account and it was never refunded properly. Will absolutely not be back to this location ever again.
Booked different equipment than I originally wanted at this specific location because it was close to home. I received two seperate confirmations for my reservation stating the time, equipment and location. When I arrived, I was told the equipment was in fact at a different location across the city. Thank you for wasting my time. Edit: this place keeps going from bad to worse. Just stay away
I booked a 6x12 trailer for a cross Canada move and at 6pm the night before I was called and told the trailer that I booked 2 weeks in advance was not there. I was accused of glitching their online system. I spent the next 2 days on the phone trying to call around and in the end I was not helped. I have contacted the Better Business Bureau and I suggest everyone else do the same.
Never deal with Uhaul. If you must, don't use this location. Uhaul will screw you over everytime. They are unprofessional, unqualified, and if there's a problem they will not help you. They'll just say "if you're not happy you can return the truck.". Do not trust Uhaul. Especially this location. They cost of a lot of time and money that was completely unnecessary.
This store was almost completely empty. The were no moving boxes to purchase. The truck interior was disgustingly filthy, the steering wheel was sticky. The hand truck and moving blankets I ordered were removed from my order without anyone telling me. Made moving large items extremely difficult. Overall, it was a horrible experience on an already stressful day.
We were the first people in line and it took 45 minutes to get a vehicle. I brought it back 3 hours later and an employee verified the vehicle was OK and the gas topped up. The next day I get a call asking why I still had not returned the truck. On top of that, they then charged me an extra $5 for gas. Use one of the other, better U-Haul facilities in the city.
No wonder your ratings get lower and lower. "We don't have to do our job properly" is what I just was told by a male employee on 17street with glasses and black hair. Says to come pick up the reservation, and they refuse to follow through with the bookings. So much for making moving less stressful. WORST MOVING COMPANY IN EDMONTON.
You give them your lisence so they get your name yet that cant spell your name corretly, you pre book your equipment for a time and they werent open, they say they will send a cheque in the mail for a refund but how am i supposed to cash a cheque that is not in my name? First and last time i go to this location what a joke!
I have booked an uhaul pick up truck online for moving and confirmed via call. On moving day they said truck is not available. I did not have back up plan. I cant call some last minute. I was left with no help on that day. Do not book an uhaul for moving purpose. They are worse. I wish there was an option to choose 0 star.
Uhaul's central management of Uboxes needs work. My boxes were delivered to the wrong site, moved mid month to a different location without me knowing, and other hiccups along the way. But this specific location did a fabulous job of helping me, Trevor went above and beyond in helping us figure things out. Thanks Trevor!
This was an efficient, easy place to rent a vehicle for a couple of days. No extra/hidden fees. Get in/get out within 10 minutes. Much better than some of the car rental places I have been. If you just need a vehicle (pick-up truck) to get around for a couple of days, this is your "gp to". Keep up the good work guys!
Had a need to rent a truck and I got it. Then had a need to have same truck for an extra day and in got it. Now all I need to see is if I can get my deposit back? Others wise 4 stars but only for the call center workers the in store reps are not very good at customer service and can't seem to ever find a reservation!
It was busy when I went to rent my trailer, but you could tell the lady working the desk was working hard to get people through quickly. The customer service was understanding and responded fast when I needed to do an after hours drop off. No issues, I'll use this location again if I need something
They charged ne 66$ for fuel for just driving 65 kms. The manger wont talk to me now. He lives right in front of the office and he wont come out. I spoke to u haul cuwtomer service sitting here in the office and he said he couldnt help me. Terrible location. Do yourself a favour and stay off here.
Propane isn't 7days a week (they're false advertising)+ they refused to fill due to cold weather or not having a prt or someone even if you called ahead they would lie and say they had someone when they didn't. Also their online price was listed cheaper and they raised it around 30cents/ltr
if a customer return a vehicle with gas below the mark when he receive a vehicle, you guys charge $0.65 per km, and if somebody returns the vehicle with gas above the mark, you guys refuse to compensate. I pick the vehicle with 50% gas in the tank and return with 75% gas in the tank,
We had to pay more than double what we were quoted for a few hours use of a pickup truck. We had to pick up the equipment on the other side of the city and this caused us huge amounts of extra mileage. We will not use uhaul again, it's always a guessing game as to what you pay.
These people are just terrible. They are gonna overcharge you no matter what. They charged us 175$ even though we returned the truck in 3 hours and drove only 52 kms. I just hate this location and would never ever come back again. The are rip offs. Just stay away people
If your moving, take the extra time and come to this location, always professional, very helpful, and friendly, I've been dealing with this location for over 10 years now, and the experience is always been excellent especially in comparison to other locations of uhaul.
Amazing service! Travis Marshall was absolutely amazing! In a crucial and super stressful phase he went out of his way to make everything workout even when things were looking pretty impossible and negative. Professional and Quick to the chase! Can't say enough!
Booked online but when I showed up they didn’t have any enclosed trailers. Got a phone call an hour later to see if I wanted a trailer the following day. Already made my plans, so I went to Beothuk Trailers and picked one up for a better price.
I have been on hold for an hour. I am just trying to confirm my online reservation, which i made WHILE being on hold for over an hour yesterday. Hire more people. Set up call back service. I have other tasks, that actually require my phone...
I rented a pickup truck for 3 days here, and had no issues with it. The staff were polite and very helpful (especially Joshua). Only downside was that it’s a bit far away from downtown Edmonton, but that wasn’t too much of an issue.
I've had my stuff stored there for a year now with no issues. However, getting anything done is incredibly slow. Seems like there usually only one person working. From my experience, average wait times are 30-45 minutes in person.
Rented a cargo van on short notice, then changed it on the day of pickup to a larger moving truck. Service was very friendly and I got helpful advice as well. The truck was clean and the move went smoothly. I'll be back.
Don't use the storage facility. Was broken into 15 days . Thay don't walk the grounds. I was broken into 2 day before and I had to report it to them . Also 4 other units broken in to during the same period.
Did the online pick up option here. Came at 8 am only to find the truck we rented buried behind other trucks and had to wait until staff showed up to get it out. Will not be using this U-Haul next time.

Never Rent Here. It's February, and they refuse to provide winter tires. They told us it was our responsibility. To be honest... every time I deal with U-Haul, I get screwed over. Use Penske instead.
I ordered uBoxes to be delivered to Lacombe and they got stuck in Edmonton as apparently they don’t deliver to Lacombe. Then they give us the run around on how to pick up our belongings in the uBox

Went in to grab some more moving supplies, and "all the computers are down and we can't sell anything" You don't have back ups or redundancies?
Not properly staffed, had to wait a while for pick up and drop off, and they downsized our moving vehicle 2 hours before pick up.
Good quality moving trailer, only 40 dollars for the day with insurance. Good size trailer not a super mini one. Would use again

Very bad service with ubox. My garage door is blocked second day by ubox and they are able to take only after tomorrow
