This clinic is the absolute best!! We started with them years ago, but go temporarily sucked into another clinic that offers low-cost dog shots. The problem was that, they insisted on full exams starting at age 10 ("elderly" for them), which was fine, except that they would start at age 9 saying that our dog was "turning 10". And then when we started prescription cough meds for our pomeranian's cough (tracheal collapse, common to his breed) and an arthritis med for our miniature dachsund, they started insisting on repeat exams for each refill, as early as 5 months from the last exam (when they had initially told us he'd just need a lab draw)! That was the "last straw" for us! It was becoming very clear to us that this is how they make up for the "low cost" vaccines...insisting on unnecessary repeat exams and labwork!! Even trying to reason physician to physician (I am a disabled human doc) didn't seem to help and I just kept hearing back from her, "It's just our protocol". Well, if your unnecessary "protocol" causes your patients/clients to leave, you need to do something about your meaningless protocols! Night and day difference coming back to ChatOaks! They communicate well, they told us what was truly necessary and why, and work within our budget! There's none of this, "It's just our protocol" baloney coming back when we ask reasonable questions! Their doctors are compassionate with the animals and are willing to take time to explain things to their owners! We will never change clinics again due to budget constraints because ChatOaks is the best and is willing to work with us!
You guys want to play that game of "he said she said" not that it matters because you quite frankly don't care! My regular vet had to cancel my appointment on Friday because she had an emergency. Therefore you guys as my secondary backup were my go to which you have been for several years now...now, never again. I called Friday morning to explain the situation and that my dog was scratching at her ear and this was not normal for her. I get that we are in a pandemic and it's a bit different. However, I called twice that day and at one point was on my way over to wait in the parking lot. Both times, I was told I would be better off waiting at home and that you would call me when there was an opening as you agreed she should be seen rather than waiting until Monday, with my rescheduled appointment with my regular vet. Two days later, it's Sunday morning and I never get a call...not even one to say "we're sorry but we can't get you in." You claim, you initially told me that it could take 2 or 3 days before she would be seen...that's bull! Why would I even bother with trying to get her in with you when I already had another appointment on Monday with my regular vet!! Your facility is open 7am to midnight, 7 days a week and you want me to believe that in the past 48 hours not one of your vets had 5 minutes to check my dogs ear? Let alone apparently you don't even have the time to pick up the phone and call a client, quite frankly...shame on you!!
Our dog Mika had a severe gastrointestinal problem. She was getting worse fast. We would loose her, if not the director of the clinic Linda Jackson. We were very lucky that she was in the clinic when we checked in. Without loosing the precious time, she came up with a genius treatment plan. My girl stayed there almost a week and survived. Ms Jackson is not only extremely intelligent and experienced doctor, but she really loves animals and is very compassionate human being. She let us to stay with Mika the most critical time and regularly updated and addressed our concerns. We were blessed to have veterinary assistant Daniel these days, as well. Fantastic person with great personality, that loves animals and his job. He was checking Mika and other pets all the time with talking to them in sweetest way to ease their anxiety. Daniel was making sure their needs were met especially during shift changes. I deeply appreciate and thank Linda Jackson and Daniel for their extraordinary professional skills and warm and humane personalities. They are the difference makers for our dear pets . Thank you!
We brought our little dog Lola for emergency care after our larger dog and she got into a dog fight. Poor Lola was in bad shape and we rushed to Chatoak about 7:30pm. Thankfully they could take her in for triage. During these interesting times of Covid we had to wait outside in the car. Even so, the Chatoak staff and Dr. Florio were in touch with us by phone and the communication was very good. The staff was very professional and kind with us as well. Eventually, we went home while Lola had surgery (lots of stitches), and she spent the night in the animal hospital. Dr. Florio was very compassionate with me as I was second-guessing our decisions and talked me through everything so I felt more comfortable. Even though it was late the Dr. called me after surgery to report on Lola. And, she also called me at 8am the next morning to let me know that Lola was doing well and could go home soon. Lola had a rough few nights, but now we're on day 6 and she's doing remarkably better. Just like Dr. Florio told me she would. :-)
Unfortunately my first visit here was not for a good reason. My dog had gotten sick and he needed to be seen urgently. I called in advance to ask if I could make my way over. I told them my circumstances and they told me to head over and call again when I was in the parking lot. I called around 10 pm and was in the parking lot around 10:50 pm. I called again and they came to take my dog inside around 10 minutes later. The people were very nice and understanding. My dog was 10 years old and his quality of life was not the best anymore, I went there knowing this and what my options were going to look like. My dog was going to be euthanized. The workers there allowed me as much time as I need before and after putting him to sleep. They most definitely made the process easier. I asked them questions and they answered them thoroughly. This was my first time going there, and the people there were very kind. I am grieving but I know my dog is okay now. These people were great and I would 100% recommend them.
If I could give a zero I would… My German Shepherd had a swollen foot because of reasons I didn’t know and he was limping and not doing well. It had just turned 11 and they close at 12 so I called ahead to make sure but was left on hold for 11min, already terrible start. I end up getting fed up so I get to the hospital and I’m still on hold then hang up and ring the door to get buzzed in, no one lets us in and there seems to be no one in the lobby so they aren’t busy. I call again and explain the situation and now the lady on the phone finally wants to open her mouth and say they aren’t taking walk-ins because the doctor is going to do a surgery. Could she have not said this prior? Shouldn’t have this been the first thing out her mouth knowing they are an “emergency vet” and people would call to ask? Complete waste of time and terrible service. First attempt at visiting this place and very much never attempting to go again.
Chatoak helped us so much just a month ago when my dog Casper has extreme constipation. They gave him treatment within 3 hours and had helped us so much when no other vet would take us because of COVID shortages in staff. Now Two days ago I go in because Casper is limping from his left leg and the receptionist was completely unresponsive. They did not care to share anymore information to help Casper other than to leave and they’d maybe call back in 3 days. They then proceeded to ignore me while they took my pet back to see if he “was actually in a state of emergency”. Which an animal unable to use all four legs is an emergency at any time. They did not return until I was leaving. Completely unprofessional and shameful behavior by veterinary professionals. I’ve seen other reviews like mine which is obviously this issue is not being seriously dealt with. Please Chatoak Animals Hospital yall can do better.
To the staff at VCA Chatoak, We made our beloved dog Daisy’s final journey to you last night on Mother’s Day. It was a sad last ride for us as we knew we wouldn’t be bringing her home, at 11 years old the bond created between us and Daisy was unbreakable. But we knew that this was only the end of this chapter and the beginning of a new one. This journey is never easy but what makes it bearable is surroundings your in. All the vet techs were absolutely amazing, not only do they all know how to treat a pet, they know how to treat the family of the pet. And to us that is just as important, as the family is the lifeline between a pet and the veterinarian. I would like to thank Dr. Jackson especially, she embodies empathy and compassion to the upmost value and should be the gold standard when it comes to veterinarian care. Thank you all again as you were the silver lining to a somber end of this chapter.
I have been taking my cat here for the past 4 or 5 years. I have always had a positive experience with the doctors and staff. On my last visit, there was a family who had to put their pet down. The staff showed caring by offering the family a room for privacy, and late when the family left (still in tears), the receptionist offered her condolences. I have used a few different doctors at Chat Oak. They have always been great, but my favorite doctor is Linda Jackson. Everyone has their own personality, and I just click with her. I highly recommend this Veterinary Hospital. Last year, I had to put said cat down. I was heartbroken. The doctor and staff provided me with a referral for a Mobile Vet, and cremation service as I wanted my cat to pass at home. Now, ChatOak has the challenge of dealing with my very active and biting 10 month old kitten. They have done a great job handling my rambunctious boy.
We drove 30 minutes to find a vet that could see my dog on a Saturday on a walk in basis. Our dog was sick. We pulled into the parking lot and spoke to someone on the phone. We were told we would be triaged and would be called back. We sat there over an hour, I finally called to see how long it might be. I was told by a different and very rude lady that there had been a misunderstanding and they were not able to see us today. After waiting a long time with my sick dog in my car I was upset! The person I spoke with never apologized or seemed in any way suprised or bothered that I had been waiting there. A simple apology would have gone a long way. So we had to leave and find another vet. At the other vet we were seen quickly, and they talked kindly and respectfully. I was very upset with the way we were treated here and will not be coming back.
My dog has a fever and a doctor wouldn’t see him. I called to tell them he has a fever and they said to come in much later in the day. So I waited and brought him in. They checked him out and told me his fever is not high and it could just be because he’s nervous. Which is ridiculous because he’s had a fever all day! That’s the reason I called. But from the moment I called them and every interaction after I was met with questions that seemed to be to disqualify him from being seen by a doctor because they are too busy. They seem stressed. Seems that’s the focus is not on the pet. Hopefully there’s no emergency and you can always make an appointment ahead of time. I’m headed home and to look for vet hospitals that will actually try to figure out why my dog has a fever. And I have no idea what to do in the meantime.
They’re rip offs, all they care about is money, the clinics services are all over priced. My dog needed an emergency c section which they were charging me over $3,000 for and on top of that they required $2,000 payment in order to start surgery which is ridiculous no one had that money up front especially if it’s an emergency. Also just for a consultation i was charged $280 which on my paper with all the cost it showed $180 and the receptionist didn’t even know why i was being charged so much for just consultation she looked confused. I found a better pet hospital it’s called “ Dill veterinary hospital” in San Fernando, ca. highly recommend! They were really helpful even let me inside with my dog and her surgery only costed $1,000. DONT BRING YOUR PET HERE.
Chatoak has been with us for a little over 10 years; they saw our cat, Freckles, and dog, Marley, right until the end. When money was an issue, they always offered alternatives and were very thorough with us. When certain assessments couldn't have been made in Chatoak, they recommended us to other VCA locations. The veterinarians and front end of the staff are hard working and caring people. Especially the front staff that deals with customer service. Thank you to everyone for being so patient and loving to our fur kiddos during their time with us, especially Marley. My family and I have nothing but love for you guys.
Dr Belding is absolutely incredible. A true cat lover, no doubt. We adopted a very feisty stray cat, and as we feared, he got into a nasty cat fight and sustained multiple wounds. Dr Belding looked after our Milo, and gave him the best care a cat can get, even after a full day of non-stop emergencies under her belt. To top it all off, she gave us much needed dietary advice and was incredibly thorough with all our questions. We are so grateful. Most vets are not be able to handle our fur baby. This Dr is simply put, a saint. We have no words to truly express our gratitude for helping our very (very) spirited cat.
Went to Chatoak for years. They do not care about you or your pet. All they want is money. They routinely opt for more expensive tests and treatment to make as much profit off you as possible. If you question their treatment plan you become a pariah, and they write things in your pets chart such as “ just wants her cat to get better”, “Owner reluctantly approved lab work “. I was told my cat could die from the lab work, and the vet knew that but left that part out her chart. I always felt like a burden to them even though I’ve paid them thousands of dollars. I think this vet needs a complete personnel overhaul.
I have always gotten the best of care from the vets here. They are compassionate to my animals. My Kitty had been treated poorly at another vet and was terrified to go to the vet. The doctors were so kind and gentle to her and really did a great job with her. She gets better every visit. My dog Wyatt loved to go to the vet. He loved how all the techs would love all over him, and when it came time to cross the rainbow bridge they did and excellent job of making it easier for me. Prices are fair. Their treatments and care are excellent. The staff are always very friendly and make me feel very welcome.
I brought in a neighborhood stray on the night of 10/29 found with horrific injuries. Ultimately her injuries were too terrible for the cat to survive, I am grateful to the staff and to the vet who treated her with compassion and dignity and helped her gently find peace. The injuries were nightmarish but their composure and empathy in the face of it is helping me hold it together, days later. I am grateful to them for taking her when several other emergency hospitals turned me away. I would trust absolutely any animal to their care in the future, knowing that they truly do care for their patients.
I took my dog there after we got attacked by 2 pit bulls, so you can imagine the pain and damage we were both in. I thought for sure he was going to need some serious care. But while i am at hospital i get a call saying they needed $ i. My bro sent 1.000 with 5000 balance . next i get a call to pick my dog up he is in stable condition? The next day while i was taking him back he died on the way.there in parking lot. They should not have released my baby boy a???! Anyone with a same story feel free to contact me.
Called and spent 5 minutes explaining the issue regarding my dog. After explaining and spending my time elaborating on what the issues and symptoms were and a request on what can be done, the lady told me it's going to be 3 to 5 days for my dog to be seen. This is an emergency hospital......it doesn't sound like they are equipped to service a Family Dog Member that is in serious need of assistance. By that time my dog will end up dying......unreal and thank you for taking up my time as my dog is slowly dying.
I wanted to say thank you to the whole staff and a special thank you to Dr Srinath. She diagnosed our 21 yr old tuxedo cat Mia without any stress caused. Very compassionate when we chose to say goodbye. The office gave us a beautiful paw print. I can’t say enough how this meant to us. After 21 years with Mia to get to go with dignity compassion and love from strangers. Thank you all for everything. Skeggs Family
Brought my 15-year-old kitty to Chatoak on the morning of 7/16/22 because she hadn’t eaten or drank any water in 1 1/2 days plus she was lethargic. They took her vitals and told me to take her home and they would call me later that day up until 10 pm or the following morning to bring her back—which they never did. In addition, the girl at the front desk was rude. Definitely won’t be going back.
Terrible office :( my dog needs a check up and he seems to have discomfort and they gave me an appointment a month away only to call the day before and cancel without an offer of new appointment. I had expressed my concern of my dogs quivering legs and the receptionist seemed to just brush it off as a non urgent issue. If this is how the office is run, I fear how they care for the pets.
My dog had a bee sting last Sunday. I took her to emergency at VCA. She was panting and she was in a lot of pain and they refused to accept her as a patient. They turn me away. They told me to go somewhere else because they didn't have the staff to take care of her. I'd gone there for years before they became VCA. Either they need to hire more staff or they should close their doors
Wanted to thank Dr More and the entire staff at this facility. We had to euthanize or elderly dog . Such a rough emotional time for us. The entire staff were so caring and showed such respect to us and our dog. So difficult to come to grips we were losing our 14 year old best friend but the staff walked us thru the process and she passed so peacefully. Thank you
My family has been bringing our pets to Chatoak for the past 8 years. The vets and staff have all been friendly and professional. Dr. Srinath is our dog’s and cat’s primary vet. She is so sweet and soothing as she examines them. It’s nice to know that we have an excellent after hours veterinary clinic close to home!
This is my 2nd time at VCA Granada Hills. And I can’t speak any more highly about this pet clinic. They are so helpful and genuinely care about your pets. Dr. Allison More helped me and she was so thorough with my senior dog. She made me feel so comfortable. I highly recommend this place.
We're new to the neighborhood + feel so fortunate to have found this loving, caring veterinary practice. Dr. Binder + the team have been have wonderful—friendly, approachable and accommodating to our stubborn little frenchie. We know he's always in good hands in their care!
The entire staff here, from front desk to vet techs to the vets, are all dedicated and caring to our pets. They have a variety of treatment options and recommendations for the well-being of our pets. They are available seven days a week for
They were a great place until they were taken over by VCA. Their prices have gone up and their service has gone down. I had to bring my dog back 3 times in a row and sit in the parking lot in 106 degree weather while they kept sending her
We took our dog there because of a rash developing and spreading on her body, they took her in (Notice: they never allow the pet owners to be present with their pets) after who knows what they did, they charged us over $350.00 gave her a
the front desk staff was not that friendly, given it was Christmas eve and I had to spend it taking my puppy and stay there all night. the vets+vet assistants were really friendly and helpful. Not terrible service just wish some of the
I'm the owner of a busy pet services business and when I need assistance for one of my guests, or urgent care for one of my pets, Chatoak has never let me down. Effective triage, quick to act upon emergency situations, and thorough
Do not bother to use this vet for an emergency. As they certainly didn't treat it. If my dog had been in trouble, he would have died before they even bothered to send a tech out. I left after 20 minutes of being completely ignored.
The people who work in the “front office” are terrible. I’ve never encountered so many attitudes in one place (Joanne, Cynthia!). They treat clients like they can’t be bothered with them. The last pre-COVID appt I had, they were
We have been taking all our cats here for many many years. All the staffs and the vets are very caring & helpful, but our favorite vet is Dr. Srinath. She is like a cat whisperer!
Excellent. Went above and beyond to work with our situation and have the doctor call back on a weekend. I was freaked by the bad reviews... Doctor came through for us.
This place is like family to me. Very sympathetic and supportive when saying goodbye to my big boy Louie. Will always appreciate you guys for that.
I am forced to give them 1 star, but they don't even deserve that. I brought my dog here almost six months ago with a leg infection, they kept
This place started out really well and I honestly thought I was going to write a 5 star review until what happened today.
They won’t see your furry baby unless they can get a good chunk of money out of you.
