Very unreliable pharmacy. Would not recommend. I don't normally take the time to write negative reviews but my experience with this pharmacy has been almost all negative. I have had multiple experiences of my doctor ordering a medication and the pharmacy just choosing not to fill it. When I have called to check on these prescriptions, the same guy has answered each time and has told me it was because "insurance probably won't cover it". I have asked if he ran it through insurance to check and each time he had NOT checked, just assumed. Every one of those prescriptions DID end up being covered by my insurance. It isn't the role of the pharmacy to decide what I need to pay out of pocket OTC for... that is up to insurance. Do not count on spending less than an hour or 2 if you need to call with a question. What prompted me writing this review is that just today I spent 30 minutes on hold regularly hearing it ring and hearing someone pick up but not speak and then immediately put me back on hold... only to then be hung up on before getting to speak with anyone. I called back and was then 3rd in line on hold and after another 45 minutes, I had to hang up because I had to get back to work. Overall, there is a real gap in communication. I have gone during their normal business hours (not during meal break) and found them randomly closed. I have gone to attempt to pick up the same medication multiple days in a row and was told they hadn't filled it yet... even though i was there the day before and told that they would get it ready... and the day before that. It just has been a very unreliable pharmacy in my experience and because of that there have been times I have missed doses of important medication.
I wish I could give no stars about this pharmacy. I came to pick up a prescription that was called in by the hospital. I was only asked my name. First of all, they are just very slow. Clearly they feel no need to even try to accomodate people. The guy behind the counter had to hunt in 4 different places for the prescription. It was like he was lost. When he went to check me out, the prescription came up to around $4. I thought it was odd since my insurance covers it usually but it was only $4 and I was so sick. I also bought afrin and Flonase (come to find out they are 3 times more expensive here than at Fred Meyer. So I will be returning them unopened.) He didn't ask me if I had any questions. He didn't give me any instructions. I looked in the bag and realized I only had 1 of 2 prescriptions. I walked back. Waited again. He checked the computer slowly and told me they didn't accept my insurance so they couldn't fill my antibiotic. So... He just failed to tell me that they didn't take my insurance and let me pay for a prescription needlessly. Thanks. I wasn't happy and was clearly confused. I had a fever and wasn't prepared for this. He didnt offer me any other information. He didn't say he could transfer the prescription. He just let me walk away sick. I called Fred Meyer pharmacy and they told me they could request my prescription via fax. I asked them to. They said of course. I went to Freddie's. I still had to call Walgreens twice with extreme wait times to get them to fax over my prescription. All in all, it took more than 2 hours out of my day with a fever when Freddie's could have done it in 20 minutes. I won't even buy shampoo here anymore.
I'm reviewing this store because of an incident that happened there approximately two months ago. I took a friend of mine there to retrieve some money that was sent to him via Western Union. We were unable to retrieve the money and the woman who "assisted" us was blatantly racist. The store provides a kiosk to use for this service. We were not aware and asked the person at the register to please call someone to help us with a Western Union transaction. The woman that came to assist us immediately had a confrontational attitude. She showed us the kiosk and then demanded to know what he was going to use the money for and wanted to know why he was sent money from two separate people. She was not being conversational, make no mistake, she was completely interrogative. From the expressions on our faces she felt it necessary to inform us that these were "standard questions." The kiosk froze up and we were unable to use it. The Walgreens employee was unable to assist us, so I told her we would go to the Western Union service location on 82nd and Powell. Instead of an apology, she exclaimed with a big fake smile on her face, "Ok, have fun." I tried contacting Western Union online and on the phone, but online their site says to call and when you call they tell you to file a complaint online. Nice. I wanted to ask someone if these were indeed standard questions. I don't see how they possibly could be. This was racism plain and simple. My friend is not white and clearly that worked against him here. I was appalled to witness such behavior and will never set foot inside another Walgreens ever again.
This is the first online review I have ever written. I normally don’t take the time to complain about poor service, but this pharmacy is absolutely horrendous. I’m a diabetic, and I have tried three times to order supplies from this pharmacy. Every time I do, I get a confirmation text from Walgreens that the order was placed, followed by a text saying that they’re all out of stock, but reassuring me that there are “more coming”. After this, it is complete radio silence from the pharmacy while my insulin pump supply runs critically low. When I finally call them because I’m on the last of my supply, I have to wait on hold for an hour just to be told that the items were never actually ordered, and were instead just sitting in the outbox of the pharmacy. The second time this happened I asked the pharmacist if there was any way that the problem could be rectified, and he just shrugged his shoulders and said I would have to call to remind them to complete the refill request every single time. Completely unhelpful or unsympathetic to the fact that I have to dedicate over an hour every week to remind them to do what they told me had already been done. Again, I have never written a negative online review before, but I have also never had a more consistently negative relationship with a business. My life literally depends on these supplies, but I have never even gotten so much as an apology for this issue, let alone an attempt to correct it. If you’re looking for a pharmacy in Portland, this one should be at the bottom of your list.
As of Friday, 6/23/23, both the Retail Side and the Pharmacy are open. The store was temporarily closed for 5 days. Last Monday an Associate told me that it was due to a Computer System Malfunction, and that they're currently working on the problem. But I spoke to Walgreens Corporate and was told that the store was Temporarily Closed due to a lack of adequate staff in the Pharmacy. This is much more believable as Retail POS (Point Of Sale) systems rarely go down. I worked in Retail for years and the longest time our System was down was 2 hours. Corporate will move heaven and earth to bring a store back online. I believe that Walgreens Corporate shut the store's computer system down until they could bring additional staffing into the Pharmacy. Currently this location has an opening for a Pharmacy Tech. They will train the candidate, help them get the certificate, and work with them to become a Lead Tech over time. This is a great career, but no one wants to work nowadays. So the position remains vacant. I've been a customer here for over 15 years. This store is an integral part of the neighborhood. Among others, it serves a population of older adults that rely on it for OTC Medical supplies (Tums, Alcohol, Bandages, etc.) and grocery items like coffee, frozen meals, bread, and snacks. They carry all the regular brand items like Folgers, Hostess, etc, that Trader Joe's doesn't stock. Support the store, their manager Carlos, and all the pleasant associates. Pray for the Pharmacy.
Very upsetting to see my favorite pharmacy rated so low. Everyone judges by different metrics, but in my experience this Walgreens is fantastic. First of all, it’s a small, neighborhood location—so they’re not going to have everything the larger stores carry. Their main attraction for me is the professionalism and dedication of the pharmacists and support staff. I’ve been helped more times than I can count with difficult refills and specialty prescriptions. One of the pharmacists left me multiple messages (I was in meetings all day) because a refill for a prescription that is typically used for controlling high blood pressure—my specialist prescribed it for migraine control—hadn’t been picked up for two days and she was very concerned that I was missing doses of what could be a lifesaving medication for someone with heart disease. It wasn’t an expensive drug, even without insurance it was ~$7, which made the palpable relief in her voice when I finally returned her call very touching. I’ve had numerous experiences like that with the staff there and they frequently go above and beyond. The store itself is tiny compared to other Walgreens, but that’s not the reason why they’re so busy. I’d heartily recommend this location to anyone who is looking for a small-neighborhood-pharmacy vibe.
Horrible experience with pharmacy. Prescription for post-op pain control was dropped of at 1600 and I was told it would take 1 to 2 hours before it would be ready and that I would receive a call or text once it was. I opted in to text notifications. After 2.5 hours I call to check on the status of my prescription and am told that 1) it's ready for pick up and 2) the pharmacy is closed and the medication will not be available until 1000 the next day. Spoke with the manager who confirmed that there is no possible way to get this medication until they open tomorrow and they have no pharmacist or anyone else to call in the event of an emergency after hours. The tech who took the prescription never bothered to mention that they would be closing in 2 hours and that I would have to be ready before that and I would have to come pick it up before then. Completely unacceptable experience all around. Will definitely be filling a formal complaint with corporate and pharmacy supervisor tomorrow when they open.
For some reason this pharmacy is always either closed during the hours they're supposed to be open or their "phone lines are down" according to their automatic voice service and I'm unable to refill my prescription. I am on my second day without taking my medication because I haven't been able to get a hold of them in the past 5 days. I left messages with zero response and I can't ever get anyone to pick up the phone. I'm probably going to have to go to the store in-person to get someone to talk to me. I've had issues with this pharmacy in the past too-- a few months ago I received messages about my prescription being ready for pickup and then was told when I arrived that my medication wouldn't be ready for another 2 hours. I really hate leaving negative reviews, but hopefully this will save someone the trouble of choosing this pharmacy for their prescriptions. My service in-store with the cashiers is usually great, it's just the pharmacy.
I was very disappointed, and almost angry with the way I was treated over the phone by one of the pharmacy staff people - a male tech who's name was spoken so fast I could never catch it. I called several times, trying to track down my medication, only to be met with an apathetic unhelpful attitude, then when I had to call back, was rude and accusatory. I phoned another Walgreen's store that I have used before, and was met by a tech who was not only friendly, but phoned my insurance company to help me find the missing link, and promptly called me back. I contacted the first tech, and told him that his response to me was inappropriate, and not a way to communicate with a customer. When he began to argue with me, I just asked over top of him when I could pick up my medication, and then hung up. I hope that his manager notices this behavior, and brings it to his attention in a way that GETS his attention.
Been shopping here about ten years now. This Walgreens is within easy walking distance. Quality has been going up for the past few months. The Store Manager, Carlos, has done a tremendous job with his team. They have no control over the pharmacy though. Prices are generally high, but if you use your Rewards Card the prices are good. Lately the shelves are stocked very well with a good selection. Aisles are a bit cramped, but the staff makes the presentation look great. They are no longer understaffed on the retail floor, and all the employees are friendly and helpful. Please don't judge the store on the pharmacy. They are two different entities. We're fortunate to have this retail outlet in our neighborhood. Between the theft that goes on and all the complaining, I'm worried that they may close this branch someday.
If I could give zero stars I would. This is by far the worst Walgreens Pharmacy I’ve ever brought my business to. They can’t use covid as an excuse because their service was terrible long before covid came around. No human decency and horrendous service. Prescriptions rarely filled on time or correctly. All technicians are rude right when you walk up, clear they do not want to help you from the very start. It’s as if anyone that needs a prescription is there to ruin their day. All technicians should be required to redo customer service training and if they don’t want to work with the public then they should find another job / career path. It’s sad how rudely they speak to elderly, and those where English is a 2nd language. It’s clear though, they don’t discriminate, they’re just terrible to everyone.
Update: was supposed to go on a vacation and this pharmacy lost my script (have been coming here over a year) and has no record of even receiving it despite sending me a text it was ready for pickup. I will now not have my medication while on holiday and am reporting the pharmacy to the state board, I recommend anyone who has similar experiences to do the same Worst pharmacy you will ever encounter. Pharmacist asks questions that are NONE of their business. I had a medication that was supposed to be filled and was given pushback/questions. After finally paying for it they told me I would have to return another time even though I explained I was out of said medication. I’m uncertain if the pharmacist who has a million questions understands that people can get very sick without their medication.
I made a last minute decision this morning to print photos and return address labels for holiday cards. I ordered online, using the same-day pick up option at the SE Holgate location. When I arrived, it was clearly a very busy day for the folks in the photo lab; however, Tom, was very helpful and courteous. I realized, after getting to my car, that the crop on one set of photos was off. I went back into the store and Tom was incredibly nice about it and helped me reprint on the spot using the store kiosk (and I received my new prints within about 5 minutes). I should mention that the cropping issue was definitely my fault. I really appreciate the extra effort Tom made, even when he was clearly swamped with other photo and print orders. Thank you!
It's difficult to properly relay how terrible this pharmacy is. I'm not sure if it's a mixture of general apathy of the management or being understaffed/under experienced, but the end result is that you will almost assuredly have issues trying to use their services to do just about anything. They screw up my script every. Single.Time. It's often the same exact mistakes again and again, and despite relaying this nothing ever improves. I've caught them in lies, and they are quick to try to handwave the issue and blame your insurance and/or provider. Avoid at all costs, I'm now driving to a pharmacy much further away because I can't handle the wasted time and added stress. Utterly incompetent on every level, this place needs to be investigated.
Michael, in the pharmacy, has no business interacting with customers. After leaving the ER last night, I'd called to see about having my antibiotics prescription filled, and he was nothing short of rude. He dismissed my questions, tried to get off the phone asap, and he even ended the call with a flat-out offensive statement. *click* Who does that?! I have never experienced this kind of treatment from a service professional before, and certainly didn't expect it from a pharmacy clerk. And, here I thought the previous reviews to be a few isolated incidents, but now I know that assumption to be very wrong. I'm not going back to this location for anything, even though its only a few blocks from my new house. Rite-Aid is just up the street.
I wondered if it was just me but yeah this pharmacy is terrible. I wonder if management even cares at all. I had the pharmacist question me about my qualifications for early eligibility pertaining to my covid shot, in front of all the other customers. I wasn't sure if it was a valid question but honestly wasn't ready to divulge personal information in front of a bunch of strangers. then I watched the other pharmacist dress down an angry older gentleman because his prescription was wrong. maybe you don't get paid enough? or you hate customer service and helping people? or just the state of the world is making everyone crazy. either way, people need to get it together and not use excuses to be hurtful to others.
If you need passport photos and call to verify they offer them through the automated system and think that is enough you are wrong!!! Talk to a person before driving over. The other reviews seem to be correct, this store is short handed to the point thatyou are better off going somewhere else. Which I did, I tried a nicer newer Walgreens down the road that had 4 or 5 employees in the store but the camera was down for some reason. I got the photos taken and processed in less time than it took to explain why they couldn't do them at Walgreens at the first UPS store I went to.
Agreed, Freddy, the store is fine. I bought some super-glue there the other day, and it was a smooth transaction. The pharmacy, on the other hand, drove us away with their horrible service. After years of screwing up our prescriptions, when they filled all of my wife's refills at the same time and demanded a triple co-pay, we had had enough. This store is just a five minute walk from our house, but we found an independent pharmacy to handle our business.
We were the first customers in, and the girl who spoke to us at the FedEx counter mumbled she couldn’t help us and was asking for someone and walked off and proceeded to ring up 7 other people just ignoring us. We asked an associate that was not helping anyone in an isle if he could help and he acted annoyed that he had to, bald man and he sassed us and got at attitude. If you’re miserable here and can’t be polite to customers then work somewhere else!
I’ve never written a bad review in my life, but I spent over 4 hours on hold with this pharmacy over the last 3 days. When it finally rang, they just hung up. My schedule makes it difficult for me to go in during pharmacy hours and when I finally got to go in the lady was just rude. Almost everyone I saw in line had some kind of issue with their refill, pickup, or appointment. I’ve been without my meds awaiting a refill for days.
Over the past year during which we have used this pharmacy, we have found the personnel to be very inconsistent. Some are helpful and courteous but others are cheerless and rude. It is rarely a pleasant experience. There is almost always a wait and hours they are closed for lunch are not posted on the website where it appears there is no closing time. Why don’t the stagger lunch hours like other pharmacies?
How NOT to handle a mistake... Pharmacy didn't request all current RXs in a pharmacy transfer. Ended up out of medication for several days, prescriptions that cause severe reactions if not taken. Spoke with pharmacist about mishap, asked what to do to get my prescriptions since the situation was handled poorly. Was hung up on by pharmacist, intentionally. Way to go Walgreens, nailed that customer service.
I got out of the hospital yesterday with my knee swollen turned in my prescription hours before it closed they said that can not do it until tomorrow. Well it’s tomorrow and my knee is worst so I have to wait another hour for my prescription!!!! I’m so much in pain had to wait the whole night and yet nothing. I should of listen to the reviews this is my last time at this pharmacy.
Never had a bad experience here and it's been my pharmacy for around 20 years. There have been a few minor confusions over the years but nothing truly negative. I used to go to Brooklyn pharmacy which I highly recommend if you can get down by the Ross island bridge area and if they are still there, but this one is right by my house so convenience won out.
Very friendly store associate. I needed to send something back through FedEx and when someone came to help me she said let me get some one to help me because I've never did a return label. So a store manager came and showed her step by step and it was done. Gracie who was the store manager was very polite, friendly and has great customer service.
The pharmacy never answer their phone and takes them forever to assist you. EVERY single time I have had an issue. Such as, they don't fill all the prescriptions because they missed it, my prescription was declined but they don't inform me until I show up, they shorted me pills this last time. Always something. I'm moving to a new pharmacy.
The people that work here are super slow, don't give out the right info, managers don't seem to care and the pricing that is on the shelves is wrong. I've gone into this store 3 times and all three time the prices on the shelves are wrong. When I brought the pricing discrepancies to the manager he asked what I wanted him to do about it.
The pharmacy has topped my experiences of worst customer service ever. The entire time they sought to shift blame onto my doctor, her assistants, and then finally blamed another staff member before the visit was concluded. Everything else about the store is what you would expect from a cookie cutter, big box Walgreens.
Jasmyni Dias, the pharmacist who helped me, was so great. Even though I had a tricky and unusual request, she did her best to assist me and she called to check up on me when she said she would. Thank you for the awesome attention to detail and personal care you took with my situation, Jasmyni, I really appreciate it!
I would give 5 stars because everyone in store is very nice and helpful BUT the pharmacy sucks. I got talked back to because I showed up to get my prescription at 1hr 50min when they told me it would take 2 hours. MY BAD as if 10 minutes would have made a difference if they didn't already have it ready.
Pharmacy is so bad. Multiple times recently they are "closed" with no warning or alternative. How am I supposed to pick up my necessary prescription when they are never open when they say they are. Completely unhelpful answering questions about billing. They've gotten my business for the last time now.
NOT INCLUDING THE PHARMACY THEY SHOULD BE SHUT DOWN.... As far as the STORE the employee's are outstanding and they put up with a lot of stress with all the homeless shoplifters and Walgreens companies do nothing to protect their employees or customers from this not the employee's of the store's fault
The fact that I was clearly pregnant and denied to use the restroom when they have is ridiculous on top of that the cashier was not friendly and didn't even say thank when I left I had to tell her when paying with food stamps the bag fee is removed before she did it even after I put my rewards in
Everytime I come here to use the pharmacy they are rude, horrible customer service and take forever. Also I heard the pharmacist say some sexist things about a pharmacy technician who was struggling with the computer system to another male technician. I will never use this pharmacy again.
The pharmacy is pretty bad. I have given up using them. My child needs multiple medicines, and they never seem to have everything in stock and refuse to check other Walgreens. I just use the Safeway down the street now, more reliable, better service.
Staff are polite and reasonably competent but they NEED MORE PEOPLE. I never wait less than half an hour behind a mind numbingly slow process and there is NEVER more than one person at the gd counter. Pay enough to attract more people!!!!!
Awful pharmacy. No communication about delays. Same problems every time that "they have to fix", and wind up delaying my meds. Rude staff that hangs up on people or tells them to callback later after 10 minutes on hold. Don't go here.
After trying to fill prescriptions here twice I can think of many reasons to dislike their pharmacy. Unfortunately, I can't think of a single good thing about it. The staff is slow, unhelpful, and clearly don't care that is the case.
Horrible to get a vaccine there. The pharmacist was rushed - which I understand, but they should figure out how to make their patient not feel like an inconvenience. He seems to release his stress through painfully jabbing your arm.
This is the worst walgree s ive ever been to.....what drug store doesnt have body spray or more than three travel sized items....everything is unstocked or an empty shelf if they carry it At All.....and nothing isnpriced correctly
The first time I called the pharmacy I was on hold for 45 minutes before anyone actually picked up. The second time I called I was on hold for 14 minutes. Make sure you have plenty of time carved out if you need to call them.
I have been getting the exact same prescription from this location for seven long years. They never, and I mean never, have it ready when they say is going to be ready. Sometimes it has taken them up two weeks to get it in.
Blatant disregard for customers. It's bad If you can avoid coming here, do so and save yourself some headaches. Really disappointed in Bi-Mart for sending my prescriptions here when they closed their pharmacies. …
I used to like Walgreens, I do not any longer. Due to the terrible service they have lost all of my prescriptions twice. I waited in the drive through for > 10 with no acknowledgement. Will not be going back
I was worried about getting my prescription here after looking at other reviews, but I had a good experience. I was in and out in 5 minutes with my insurance information updated. Pharmacy tech was very nice
My husband, daughter and I have had nothing but bad experiences with the pharmacy here. They are consistently slow and just don’t seem to care. Rude every time. We will be taking our business elsewhere.
Long, long line for the pharmacy. When I finally got to the front, the pharmacist was shockingly rude and dismissive. Also impossible to get ahold of anyone when you call. All-around terrible place.
Incredibly unprofessional and incompetent pharmacist and pharmacy technicians literally unequipped to their job and provide safe effect pharmacy services. Transfer your prescriptions immediate.
Avoid this place at all costs- they refused to fill my diabetic supplies and spitefully closed my account so I can no longer have access to my prescriptions and have to get them represcribed
Ordered medication and thought I would try their “free” delivery service. Four days later I still do not have it and it has not been picked up by their delivery entity. A joke…on me!
Their hours online for their pharmacy is 9 Pm. The sign at the pharmacy says 8pm, it’s 7:50 and completely closed. They tape up their call button so they can’t be reached.
Yeah the worst pharmacy of all time. Like hilariously, unusable, ‘how is this even possible?’ kind of bad. Never have I left a place flipping somebody off til now lol
Not a whole lot of stock on the shelves. Lots of stuff is locked up and you have to wait a long time to get an employee to open the cabinets. Sad times we live in...
Spent 20 minutes on hold three days in a row waiting for pharmacy help. No one ever picked up. Finally gave up and switched to another (non-Walgreens) pharmacy.
Takes forever for no good reason. It's like they either have no clue how to staff a store or they just don't care. I should have listened to the reviews...
Great people work there, can answer your questions or someone else, more experience in that department. Has pharmacy. Online delivery.
On the phone waiting to speak to the pharmacy for 30 mins (telling me I am next in line) only for it reach an eternity of ringing.
Photo lab closed at 3:30 pm on a Sunday. After reading other reviews, it sounds like this Walgreens is chronically understaffed.
It’s no where near closing time and they are closed; but they still have the lights on but the security bars cover the door.
Walgreens is overpriced on your everyday goods. Go to target if you’re just doing everyday shopping.
The staff as a whole is nice but there are some who are just competent. Nice but incompetent.
Had an outstanding checker tonight. Super warm and kind. Please double her pay. …
I’m so happy they were open and able to provide me some relief for my ear ache
I switched pharmacies due to the rude and inconsiderate pharmacist, Lucas.
Unreliable, unable to navigate their own system. Will not be going back.
Don't even try to call the pharmacy. You will never get through to them.
The most incompetent pharmacy I have ever been to in any country.
Such a shame that they won't fill or carry birth control pills.
Worst pharmacy I’ve been to. It’s extremely frustrating.
Terrible pharmacy staff. Go somewhere else if you can.
What can I say It's Wallgreens. The Staff seems nice
Terrible pharmacy service . Slow. High turnover .
Super helpful and friendly pharmacy staff!
friendly staff. clean, quick pharmacy
I've had many photos printed here.
Extremely rude pharmacy staff!
Unprofessional and unreliable.
Unfriendly pharmacy staff
Very Unpleasant pharmacy
Slowest pharmacy ever.
Does not open until 8
Pharmacy is a joke
