Not sure how to describe this experience but I'll try. First up we were 7 minutes late, apologised immediately as we have a very poorly boxer pup who doesn't travel well and full of diarrhoea (Alex & Co aware of this from previous visit earlier in the week, this was our 3rd visit for the ongoing issue of lame back left leg) Told by receptionist we had missed our appointment, I wasn't settling for that, asked if Alex could see us we'd wait as it was our fault - He's taken a phone call, can't see you sorry. This felt petty and childish - that he didn't want to see us (aka our sick dog) because we didn't get in on time. Technically we had 8 minutes of our alloted 15minute sausage factory slot left if we had wanted to be as equally as petty but, very upset, we instead asked for our dogs records to be emailed to us so we could visit another vet ASAP, disgusted at such disregard for a dogs well being. In the worst case scenario be upset with the owners time keeping not the poor dog, considering this was the 3rd appointment of a traumatic 10 days of appointments that includes 4 Xrays and privately paid costs in excess of £500. I don't think I'd have taken the time and energy to write this review had, while we waited for our dogs records to be emailed to us, Alex (vet) then appeared, totally ignored us (sick dog still under his care) and took his next paycheck through to the back. Surely a Vet who actually cares would acknowledge you and said sick animal but no, totally blanked, which brings me back to the petty and childish comment earlier. Knowing how distressing the situation has been for myself and my partner I find this unreal behaviour from a grown man. I'm sure this review won't make a dent for the Woolton brigade, but a word of warning for anyone who cares to read it that certain vets are still a money making machines regardless of the smiles that may or may not greet you, if you disrupt the production line. *an alternative appointment was offered with another Vet who knew nothing about our dogs condition and we may well have accepted this had Alex not walked out, stood 5 feet away and ignored us whilst taking in his next paycheck, I would make that clear. Depending on how the emergency appointment goes at another Vet (and whether our dog has been missing diagnosed here or a fracture missed) there may well be a part 2 to this review
I had a terrible experience with Woolton vets last week when my partner and I were visiting home from Dublin with our two dogs. Unfortunately, during our stay our dogs got in to the kitchen bin and ate every scrap they could. I was worried the contents might make them sick, especially our small pom/chihuahua cross so I called Woolton vets. I spoke with a woman on the phone who could not have been more unhelpful or unsympathetic. I explained the situation and asked if I could bring them in for an injection to induce vomiting. I was told I had to bring my dogs to the vet where they were registered as Woolton vets do not have their records. Despite explaining several times that we were on holiday and that the last time my eldest dog was registered in Liverpool was 8 years ago, she again refused treatment as they "don't take stand alone appointments". What was I supposed to do? Drive them back to Dublin? Following this call, my partner rang Medivet on Broadie Avenue who told us to bring them in straight away. No issues at all. In summary, if you have an emergency with your pet and you are not registered with Woolton Vets, don't waste your time with them because they don't care. EDIT: No, I do not want to discuss this further with you. It is not my job to teach you how to deal with emergencies. Pet emergencies are not unusual. Train your staff on how to deal with them properly. Perhaps give Medivet a call and ask them to share their emergency procedures.
Super friendly staff who you can tell care about the animals. Service feels personal unlike the larger companies (ie. Medivet). The practice itself is clean, sanitary and contemporary with separate waiting rooms for different animals. It does not smell or feel sterile. Unfortunately I had to have my beloved cat put down last November 2022, but Alex did all he could to try and give the cat some quality of life and exhausted some options before deciding this would be the right course of action, as a compassionate decision that he supported me with. Since then, my partner has taken his two new kittens to the practice and has received outstanding and accommodating service. The kittens were properly checked out and decisions for their treatment were clearly explained and evidently thought-through. Would recommend to anyone in the South Liverpool area.
After having a dreadful experience at a different vets, we were recommended to go to Woolton Vets. My beautiful chow chow went for a check on his eyes and we found out he had entropion. The next day he was booked in for surgery. The attention, care and compassion that has been shown to me, my family and our chow has been absolutely second to none. From the receptionists who have answered countless calls of concern and worry and responded with nothing but respect, to the vets confidence, empathy and attentiveness and to the surgeon who done the upmost to support us through the process, I cannot fault woolton vets in any way, shape or form. They truly are amazing! Thank you for making this difficult time a lot easier x
I couldn’t recommend Woolton Vets enough! The amazing team are super supportive and understanding. My 7 year old Shih Tzu, Daisy is having problems with her liver currently and they are helping her in so many ways and recommending the best treatment for her as possible! They explain every test very nicely and thoroughly and will help you out if you have any questions! The only thing I think they should do is allow or offer payment plans as this would’ve been more beneficial for us in our money insurance problem! But other than that this vet is the best one I’ve ever registered Daisy too!!
Back in July 2020, me and my partner adopted a kitten. We signed up to this vets surgery after hearing good things about it and can say it's definitely lived up to the recommendations. All the staff are so friendly and welcoming - we've had our kitten chipped, vaccinated and recently spayed and each appointment was done with such care, even during the current pandemic. From the ladies on reception to the vets themselves, everyone is lovely. They also use a PetsApp, similar to WhatsApp, to keep you updated on your pets condition which I thought was amazing. Thank you so much :)
We are a family of dog lovers, I have 4 dogs, my mum has 5 and my nan has 2 all registered here, I also run a small rescue and all our foster babies are registered here too. We always receive the best care and they never push for unnecessary treatment only whats needed. During Covid one of our fosters got an ear infection so we emailed over pictures and they delivered us her treatment - what a way to go above and beyond. So thank you Sarah, Alex, Brian and team for loving and caring for our furkids so well
Took my dog here today, obviously due to social distancing I couldn't go in the room with her, but Brian the vet rang me while I waited in my car and explained everything to me every step of the way! He was so kind and explained everything so well to me. Can't thank him enough for how at ease he made me feel! Everyone was so lovely in there and can't reccomend them enough. It was my first time using there service today and won't be going to anyone else again if my dog needed anything! Thanks again guys!
Came here to get my 2 rat boys neutered and honestly couldn't fault them! Everyone was so lovely to the boys (which is a rarity) and handled them so nicely! Vet went over everything with me and reassured me when I was nervous about leaving them, got a call as soon as they woke up and as soon as I could get them which is always well appreciated! Check up also went well with both boys doing amazing and healing well! Would like to thank everyone at the vets for keeping an anxious rat mum sane!
I can’t speak highly enough of this practice and all the staff. From start to finish, Alex, Sarah and the rest of the team were professional, courteous, extremely diligent and non-judgemental. On a daily basis, I was well informed and kept up to date with my senior cat’s care - they really did put my mind at ease. If you want to support local independent businesses and receive high quality care, this is a good place to start. Thank you for turning my little mates life around.
I would like to say thank you very much to Dr Alex for his compassion towards our Charlie. You can tell straight away that he has got love and compassion towards the animals. Our Shetland sheepdog stayed with Woolton Vet Centre over the weekend, he recovered well and I was reffered for his surgery which was successful and so far there's a big chance for his full recovery. Thanks again to amazing team and finger crossed that Charlie will bring us joy for many year's to come!
Sadly, another good vet going down the greed before customer route. I've had my dog registered with them for 5 years but when I tried to register my new pup they wanted £120 to join their puppy plan this is something I would get zore use from but was told no plan no registration and they cancelled my pup's vaccination. Needless to say, I'll be moving my dog and puppy to a new vet as being forced on to a plan you don't want or need is just money grabbing.
We took our dog here for an emergency appointment as he’d collapsed in the morning. The staff and vet couldn’t do enough to help us. Sadly our pet was terminal & we made the painful decision to allow him to sleep. The next day to our surprise we received flowers & a card of condolence. The gesture was although unexpected was very thoughtful and appreciated. Thank you for treating our pet with the respect and dignity he deserved.
Woolton Vets is exceptional. Reception staff are friendly and efficient, nothing is too much trouble. In the treatment rooms Alex and Sarah are extremely knowledgeable and practical, I have every confidence in their advice and their skills. Visiting the vet can be a difficult time, but everyone at WV does their very best to make each attendance as calm and comfortable as possible. I highly recommend this practice.
New team have taken over here and they are exceptional. As always the team here are focused on getting exactly what's needed for your pet to get better as quick as possible. The entire team here are more than competant. I think it's almost as important to note that this team offer a level of kindness and support which is not always available at some vets. Most important, they have never once, let our pet down.
In this covid situation this vet was the only one local to me that was taking on a st bernard for her puppy injections . We are currently looking into insurance with them as well once are kcc insurance has finished. They Help my partner out with any concerns she may have had over the dogs bowl movement. In a small street with side street parking along side . Nice friendly happy staff thanks .
Amazing vets. Our family have used them for years and we have no bad words to use. They are caring, friendly and go above and beyond all the time. One of our dogs had surgery and after complications, it was touch and go for the evening. The vet stayed with her all night and even shared his burger with her when she woke up. Could not recommend them any more. An easy 5 stars.
Always been our local vet. Since Alex took over and completely refurbished the place and made it much bigger and more welcoming, with such a high technology aspect to all the treatments, I feel confident taking my animals there for treatment. The staff are friendly toboth us two legged individuals and especially the four legged customers. Very gentle and caring always.
We had to say goodbye to Otto today saddest day ever. But thank you to the staff and especially Sarah for sending him on his final journey with the love and dignity he so deserved. 4 hours later a bouquet of flowers arrived from this wonderful vets which was a lovely surprise .I would recommend woolton vets to anyone . Thank you so so much
Switched to Woolton Vets from Vets4Pets with my Dog today and can honestly say I will never be looking back. Everyone is lovely and helpful, and the place has a fantastic, caring vibe to it. Highly recommend the WVIP club - definitely the best value for money care for your pets that you will find. Thanks!
My first visit today, however, the staff that I met were excellent. The advice and information given to me was excellent, plus Alex was very caring towards my dog and the treatment that was administered appears to have been spot on. Definitely a personal touch with this practice. Highly recommended.
Fantastic Team of Staff, all of the Vets are understanding and gentle with your pets. They are an amazing veterinary service for rodents, we took our hamster a few times before he passed away and I couldn't believe how outstanding the service from Woolton Vets was.
Very knowledgeable and comforting. Our kitty's teeth needed sorting and it was dealt with super quick. We were updated through the whole process and now our kitty is back to being playful, but still fussy cat (sadly that cannot be fixed by any vet)
Very highly recommended vets. All the staff are very welcoming and more than helpful. I take all my pets here and wouldn’t go anywhere else. My dog loves going in. Gets lots of cuddles and treats. The difficult part is getting him back out again.
Having had bad experiences at vets in this area I was happy to pay a monthly fee so I would receive a friendly professional service. I was assured there would be no unpleasant receptionists. Having increased my monthly fee to £30.50 I have
My female rabbit had chronic incontinence on and off for 2 years, multiple courses of anti biotics, anti inflammatories, kidney scans and surgery, didn't resolve it. She required cleaning twice a day and syringe feeding water so she didn't
These vets are amazing I went there for the first time today and my puppy loves getting lots of cuddles, also the vets are very helpful too. I would recommend these vets to any of my friends because they are so helpful and welcoming.
One of the few remaining independent vets in Liverpool, a lovely practise, i cant praise everyone from the practise enough,I wouldnt place the care of our dog Harley in anyone elses hands. A 5 star vets. So Support Your Local Vets.
Our dog was having problems for a long long time had been seen at two larges vets practices. The treatment provided was not working. Went to see Alex and within a short time he is on was to recovery. Caring and knowledgable
Faultless service from a great team. Sarah is a compassionate, caring and honest vet passionate about your pet. Can’t speak more highly of the support provided thank you it’s meant a lot through a difficult time.
Best vets we’ve ever had. When our cat had to be put down they couldn’t have been more compassionate and they calm our nervous dog down as much as they can while he’s there. Really efficient, friendly service.
Always incredibly helpful, both at the reception and the nurses/doctors. They look after your little furry babies like they were theirs, making the visit to the V.E.T. a lot less traumatic. Highly recommended!
A very good personal service, our dog, Alfie, is always seen by Alex, one of the vets. Alex knows Alfie's history and has tailored treatment for his skin condition. Best veterinary practice we have used.
Amazing! Just got a new puppy and they went above and beyond to help. After a long and stressful day. They put my mind at ease. Couldn't ask for better! Thanks so so much. The whole team were fantastic!
I can't recommend Woolton Vets enough. I have total confidence in Sarah and Alex. Nothing is ever a problem and I thank all of the team for taking such good care of my dogs. I wouldn't go anywhere else.
The best vets I have been o, honest empathetic family surgery.. All staff polite friendly and professional importantly no extortiant costs honest service where the wellbeing of the animal comes first..
These vets really care about the pets they look after. My little pug actually likes coming to see them... Until she's put up on the table! I can't recommend them enough, they are fabulous!
Woolton vets has the most amazing staff. Always happy to advise you on any issues with your pets and no problem getting in touch with them in their opening hours. Five star experience
A first class service was received when I took my poorly cat to this practice this week. Not cheap by any means but good value for money. My cat is now a lot better thanks to them.
Would not see my new pup unless i consented to a £20 a month payment scheme. Even though I am already registered with them for my other dogs. Very disappointed with this attitude.
Alex and Sarah are amazing. A fantastic local family run Veterinary Centre.I can not thank them enough for everything they have done to help Oscar. I would highly recommend them.
What excellent staff - they even look after the pet owners when they don't feel well! Thank you for your care and kindness to me and, of course, Millie. Highly recommended.

Only been there for 2 visits with our cat, but the staff is amazing! We are so glad this Vet was recommended to us, so I am passing it along.
have been wonderful with our elderly feline Peppermint to the point where he enjoys the attentions, even when he has needed injections
Would not let me register with the Practice as I did not want to join their Pet Plan, so I am not impressed at all with this Practice.
Very helpful. The staff were very understanding, explained everything in terms that were easily understood. Very welcoming atmosphere
