I have dealt with Donnell Insurance Brokers for many years (previously Gordon Brownhill and McEdwards) for my home and car insurance, and with the same insurance company for almost as long. This year, the insurance company with which I was insured was no longer available which meant I would have to switch insurance companies. My account manager, Kara Liersch, advised me well before my renewal date that I would need to switch. She then was proactive in checking to find the best price she could find and provided me with quotes. Since I have moved out of Burlington, I thought I would get a quote from a local broker so I could remain with the same insurance company. What a mistake! After my initial call to request a quote, I had to keep calling to see if the quote was available. The agent did not seem to be that interested in providing a quote. On two separate calls, she confused me with someone else. She finally gave me a quote over the phone which was lower, but did not send me anything in writing as I requested. I went to their office the day before my deadline to find nothing had been done despite the fact that I had advised I would like to go ahead. As well, they changed the quote to a much higher price once I was there. Lesson learned. I contacted Donnell in a panic, and Kara was kind enough to have everything ready for me the next day so I could get my insurance in time, despite the fact I had advised her I was going with another broker. My experience really highlighted the great service I have received from Donnell and in particular from Kara. I have always received courteous and professional assistance and would would highly recommend Donnell.

We have had our home & auto insurance with Donnell Insurance for over 20 years and they have always gone above and beyond when it comes to service and support. The pricing is always competitive but more importantly they are always there to work with you through any situation that may arise. Recently, my son, who was using RBC Insurance discovered how important it is to have representatives that will work for you and not turn their back on you when you need assistance. Eddie was 16 when he bought his own car and he went with the cheapest policy he could find, which was still over $4,000 from RBC. He paid that amount for more than 4 years with no accidents or issues. The first time he had a challenge and needed support, RBC couldn’t get away from him fast enough. To all those parents with sons or daughters who have the initiative to purchase their own vehicle and absorb the cost – my advice is stay ways from RBC Insurance. They will not be there when you need their support or assistance. I went to Holly, at Donnell Insurance with our concern – she personally got involved, making the inquiries and necessary calls and within 3 weeks we had the insurance situation resolved. I have been with Wawanesa for more than 12 years and at some point was given the 15% loyalty discount. This year I missed making my payment to renew my Home Insurance for 2020. I had been notified twice. I wasn't paying attention. As a result my policy had been cancelled. I spoke with Janice Spencer and she immediately prepared a new policy for me, however I had lost my Loyalty Discount. I thought that was unfair. I've never missed a payment. My Auto Insurance is also with Wawanesa. I have a good track record. Janice called Wawanesa for me and convinced them to honour my 15% Loyalty Discount. I don’t remember when we weren’t a client of Janice Spencer’s. We trust her expertise so when the broker change happened from McEdwards to Donnell we changed with her.
