Please beware of all things that can go wrong big or small before trusting your loved one with Golden Gate! I want to start out by saying my family has been using Golden Gate funeral home for over 20 years. As of recently I’m not sure if they are biting off more than they can chew because they are money hungry and don’t want to turn anyone away regardless of what type of work they’ll do or if their level of service has drastically decreased. I’ve had 2 terrible experiences with golden gate as of recently. The first was in January 2021, Golden Gate told my family to come for the first viewing of my aunts body at 2PM. They put us in a room where we sat for over 2 hours waiting on them to finally bring her in. When she did come in they where still trying to prepare her hair and makeup and she looked nothing like herself. I figured it was a one off since past experiences with them has never been this terrible. My uncle passed and my entire family said let’s try a different funeral home but I insisted we give them another try. I did make them aware of the problems that I previously had when they prepared my aunt in January with hopes this time would be a smooth process. D’Ashlyn was the person who planned the funeral and from the beginning you could tell she was completely uninterested and it was just like she was there because she had to be not because she wanted to. Ultimately my uncle ended up looking amazing and was ready on time but the problems came the day of the wake and morning of the service. The wake was supposed to be from 7:15-8:15. Golden Gate had us line up in the hall and wait 20 minutes to go inside the chapel because there was another family still inside. It’s a shame when you have an hour blocked out and only get 40 minutes with your loved one if that. On the day of the graveside service I find out Golden gate called and got the plot dug at the wrong cemetery. I had to spend 4 hours on the phone making calls to what feels like everyone in the United States just to make sure that a plot was dug last minute at the correct cemetery. Golden Gate didn’t care nor did they take accountability for their screw up. Because of golden gate I had to spend the morning that I should have been preparing to lay my loved one to eternal rest confused and frustrated because they didn’t make any calls to figure out what was going on I had to. This entire process was very emotionally draining, unprofessional, and big inconvenience all the way around.

Golden Gate Funeral Home services doesn't care about your deceased loved one, and they only care about how much monies they can get from your loved ones insurance policy or how much monies they can get out of you before they bury your loved one. However, the quality of the service is not equal to the amount of monies they charge to bury your loved one. I was told by one of the funeral home directors that Golden Gate Funeral Home is a business during a time where I had just payed them 10,000.00 out of my own monies, because I needed time for a check to come in to pay the remaining balance of 3,514.00. Anyway, I was allowed to write a check for the remaining balance. This showed me that Golden Gate Funeral Home is all about monies, and that they are heartless unsympathetic toward grieving loved ones. The funeral home director didn't have to tell me that Golden Gate is a business. The funeral home director couldn't have simple worked with me during my time of need. My father passed away on April 5, 2021, and I thought Golden Gate Funeral Home would treat my father's body with dignity. However, I was so wrong about that. First of all, my father's body was not preserved well. My father's burial suit was clean when I brought it to them. Unfortunately, when I viewed his body, his suit look like they threw dirt onto his body. The outside exterior of the casket was dirty as well as the inside interior of the casket interior was filthy dirty. Not to mention my dad had make up in his hair. Also, they had old dying flowers on two easels with a dying wreath of flowers on top of that dirty blue casket. The flowers were dull and old. Just when I thought it couldn't get any worse, it did. The two limousines didn't have air in them. One of the drivers forced us into one limousine, because his air had stopped completely. The other limousine we were forced into was blowing warm air. Please don't entrust your loved one's body to Golden Gate Funeral Home. You will be treated horrible during a time when you're grieving a loved one. You have been warned.

After visiting a few other funeral homes my aunt told me just give it a try and see what they can offer. I am so glad I took her advice Planning a funeral for a loved one especially for your father is the most difficult thing I’ve ever had to deal with. I met with Christina and asked her a ton of questions about the negative things that’s surrounding this funeral home she answered every question I asked, she even brought in the owner of the funeral home as well to answer questions. He even offered me to do a ride along and hangout out the funeral home whenever I wanted to so that I can see that things are being done the right way. After the meeting I had already made up my mind that I wanted to go forward with this Christina was so nice to work with she didn’t pressure me or anything and was very compassionate she gave me her personal phone number and said that I can call or text her anytime and I did just that and she was available and kept in touch from the start to finish letting me know everything that was taken place everything was perfect thanks to her. Golden Gate checked all the boxes and completely changed my mind how I feel about the funeral home. Thank You so much Christina helping me and my family during such a difficult stressful time!

My husband died unexpectedly last month and a friend recommended Golden Gate for his cremation and memorial service. I am so glad I took his advice. Because his death was sudden, he had to have an autopsy at the Dallas County Medical Examiner's office. Before a cremation can take place, a permit must be obtained from Austin and that must be preceded by a signed and dated document from the ME's office. Their office had not dated the necessary document and it took us over a week to get it corrected. An employee of Golden Gate, Ms. Morgan Morris, was an absolute angel of mercy to me throughout this confusion. I called her up to three times per day to check on the document and she was always patient and helpful. She even sent me emails of the forms they had not dated so I had "evidence" of the omission by the ME's office. In extraordinarily stressful times, she was kind and caring. All the staff have been very nice and professional, but Morgan was a shining star. Thank you Golden Gate for taking care of me and my husband's large family.

Golden gates is a joke. My mother in law passed away last month and everything was planned to the T. The day of the viewing everything was a mess. We simply told them NO MAKEUP. They blotched so much makeup and I mean caked it was in her hair. Her slide show pictures was done absolutely wrong and pictures were doubles or left out. What really got me is they put her dress on backwards cause the front was too low. That I understand BUT CALL US SO WE CAN GET A NEW ONE. Don't have my mother n law looking crazy. Her dress is backwards! Do you not care how we would feel about that. Oh the topper here. We ordered blue flowers and ended up with purple. SMH. They don't listen and seem to be careless about what they do. Down to the death certificate. Now we have to wait another few weeks cause they made mistakes. THIS PLACE NEEDS PEOPLE WHO CAN FOCUS AND CARE. I'm just hurt that they can be this careless for somebody's loved one.

One of the worst experiences I've ever had with them. Golden Gate has handled most of our family's services, but the most recent experience was horrible. They didn't have our DVD ready for the Wake service because they said we sent the pictures in the wrong format. Understandable, however, waiting until the service was set to start to let us know is unacceptable. A phone call should have been made well in advance, as opposed to waiting until we walked through the doors, and already grieving. Secondly, the guy who took care of our programs was rude. I think his name is Brandon. He had a problem with the things we asked him to correct, apparently. Even after I sent him the information, he still printed 300 copies of a program with double and missing information. Not to mention, he hung up in my face after our final conversation. This was, by far, our worst experience ever dealing with Golden Gate.

I have worked for Golden Gate 8 years. My mother died in 2009 and my father 3 years later. The customer service all the way to the cemetery and beyond was not just genuine, but it was drenched with love. My review is not biased or based on a connection to Beckwith family that precedes me. But unlike unscrupulous critics on the outside, my r review is based on day to day experience on the inside. One the reasons I work at Golden Gate is that it is built on biblical principles Matthew 5:4. That is so important as it relates to customer service. Golden Gate is is a place dedicated to changing the lives not only of grieving families but it's employees. Better people make better employees and greater employees give greater service. Service from the heart where all the way down to the smallest detail matters. Price is not an issue. We will meet or beat any competitors prices. #NUF CED

So, I was having a conversation with an older friend yesterday who used to deal in embalming fluid (illegally) thus attaining it from Golden Gate. I wouldn't suggest having your female loved ones services here as I'm sure you're imagining the horrible realization of what I'm getting at. He tells me females get inbalmed while IF you receive any ashes at all (becuz he had a story similar to some other commenters aswell) about how they never received the ashes, it likely won't be those of your loved one. This was about 15 years ago but check out the staff team & make your own judgement wether or not you'd want your female beloved alone in an embaimg room with them. The things he told me about what they do to those female bodies made my guts knott.

When you enquire about weather or not they have the remains or a loved one they won't say over the phone or tell you the service times that are already established by the family. Terrible Terrible Terrible way to do business absolutely terrible. These people and business are absolutely despicable. We authorize them to allow the girlfriend of our brother to have a memorial service only no body.We spoke to the liars the night before they assured us that it was so. Only to find out through a 3rd party that she actually had a full funeral with his body.We paid for a full cremation by them. Now we must sue them for pain and suffering and breach of contract to us the family, beware people these people are never to be trusted.

Today I had the sad experience of attending the homegoing of My best friends 30 year old daughter! Golden Gate funeral home from the first meeting to the last John B., Tamara, the limo drivers and everyone we dealt with was very professional and kind. I must have called Tamara 20 times and she always answered no matter what time of day or night it was ..she is simply amazing and kind. She must have answered 30 different questions without flinching. The Limo drivers and the ushers at the service were kind and helpful also. I'm sure when people are grieving it takes a lot to pull things together but they were amazing and caring. Thank you Golden Gate..you all did a terrific job!

I just want to express my gratitude to Cristina and the Golden Gate Funeral Home staff for helping me through the loss of my wife and helping me get her home to El Salvador. It was a lengthy experience which was not expected and very frustrating dealing with the airlines, but Cristina kept me updated even during times when I know she was not at the funeral home, and I really appreciate her for that. I was able to have my wife's Funeral at Golden Gate and everyone was helpful and caring and then I was able to have her Funeral in El Salvador. That was important to me and my family. Thank you for all that you did for me

Treated us with our still born like a sack of taters at the supermarket. Nothing explained unable to give anything but a pricelist and collect payment. When we tried to walk out we were sent to the owner who said they could apply for death cert same day as Dr signed off. 2 weeks later we call and ask what's going on and this guy acts like he has no clue what's going on. Finally, finds the record from Dr and claims will file tomorrow. This is our 'SON' and you can't even make sure you follow thru when it clearly went bad.... Do not trust your loved ones to these bafoons

If you love your loved one and want to make sure they are taken care of i would not trust this place with their care. Not a single person could answer my question not to metion they placed me on hold and transeffered me multiple times just to repeat myself and still not receive an answer. They rushed everthing and took the chance from us to say goodbye. The worst experience ever. Do not use this place! They never accepted fault for their mistakes instead blamed us and made feel horrible about everything that went on. Just horrible people all around.

******WARNING******* I had such a horrible experience with this supposedly "Funeral Home" it all began with the passing of my Dad on February 13, 2021, the day before the big winter strom. When I was finally to get to Golden Gate on R. L. Thornton, the coordinator that was assigned to me was totally inadequate, I was given incorrect information and she kept going in and out of the conference room and would be gone at least 20 minutes at a time. It’s been a whole year since mi grandfathers service and they have yet to place his (paid for headstone) at his grave site. I’ve been emailing and calling for the past three weeks calls and emails have gone unanswered and Sandy is conveniently out of they office every time I call. All this high price stuff with low grade customer service. Take your love one somewhere else. They trash ️ all I’m trying to find out is when will the headstone be delivered to his gravesite

I am very grateful for the outstanding job this funeral home did for my daughter Autumn-Star Reid! From the first call to the last, the professionalism, empathy, patience and knowledge the staff exhibited was excellent! They did a beautiful job on her makeup, programs, music, dvd’s and all! Ms. Kimberly, the owner John Jr., Patrick and all the other staff were excellent and treated us as royalty! I know God sent us here and I’m so very blessed and comforted we came!

The first time I had contact with this Company, I met a male employee who was very well dressed and professional. The next time and hopefully last time I had contact with this Company, I met a woman who was mean and tough as a cheap piece of meat. She rushed me, lied on me, was rude and hateful acting. Sorry but I will not have anything to do with this company because of her. Bad impressions are lasting impression.

I have had the worst experience with Golden Gate, I lost my mother February 18, we had her funeral March 4, need I remind you we have paid for everything in full weeks prior, We set everything up for cremation (still haven't received her urn), when I say no communication, disorganized, and very insensitive to people needs. Only cares about money and some of the women have nasty attitudes no sympathy for the families loss whether you're a business or not there is a way in which to conduct business during that fragile period and there bedside manner is absolutely abysmal. Go to Evergreen or Lincoln Memorial instead

My aunt had a preneed with Golden Gate and had paid it off years before she passed. I had to pay almost $2000 extra but her policy was $1400 extra and the funeral home kept the extra saying it was for updated expenses!!! The check was made out to me her benefactor but they kept it !!!

Please do not use this funeral home. My mother passed away on Feb 5, 2021 during the bad storm. She only had small policies and now they still owe my son $3005.42 after the funeral was paid and is now saying it is at their decripency if they have to reimburse him.

My dad’s remains were flown to Chicago from Dallas. Golden Gate did a horrible job. It looked like they just dressed him and placed him in his casket. His facial hair and hair was not groomed at all. And they messed up the contract and had to refund us money.
