Due to a medical emergency, on Saturday night I found myself at the Methodist Emergency Center off of 59 and Kirby. I was quickly checked in and within 5 to 6 minutes I was already called back and put in an exam room where the WONDERFUL Nursing staff went to work, the problem came when the Doctor walked in the room. He never addressed anything but asked had I taken anything and what was I on . . . inferring that I was on drugs (which I have never used). So after a few test the Doctor realized I was actually sick and suggested that I should go to the hospital, never addressing my medical problem. The Head Nurse saw the agony I was in and swiftly got on the phone, and within minutes, before my husband and I could decide if I should go, she had the ambulance on the way as well as a room for me once I got to the hospital (how I wish I could remember her name). Once I go to the hospital the problem with the Doctors just got worse. After I was in my room, the day nurse Trisha came on duty with Brenda, my PCA, and they were the BEST they keep me calm, did whatever they could, made sure I was as comfortable as possible and was always checking on me. As for the Doctor I NEVER saw him/her and the worst part is they actually came to my floor saw other patients and then just left. The nursing staff kept reassuring me that they were coming but the docs never did. After over 16 hours of waiting,  and I respectfully checked myself out and made an appointment with my own Doctor who saw me that very morning and did what the MD staff at Methodist did not, which was take the time to care for my medical needs. Why go to medical school if you aren’t willing to help those in need of medical help? The way I was treated was completely unacceptable; I will from now on ONLY go to Memorial Hermann and suggest you all do the same. As for all the hype that Methodist announces; they are the number one hospital for this and the number one hospital for that, they forgot the most important that that they want to be number one in and that is patient care and caring for their medical needs they need to go back to the table and shriving to be the number one in that.

Update number 2 after doing a lot of research I think they gave me nerve damage on my left arm and leg I am not 100 percent sure. I have tumor surgery here. I’m not sure if it was because of the stupidity of the nurses that don’t know how to put a iv or if they didn’t strapped me up for surgery. Just beware of this. Also I think they are getting sue due to a doctor operating on the wrong leg lol . Maybe it would be best to choose a different hospital. I am receiving treatment for a tumor in my brain. This that I noticed. The food that they give the patient makes you want to kill yourself. They are staff really well in the nurse part and radiology. Very nice people. Make sure to find someone to buy you food if you are going to stay here long cause the food is like prison food. Other than that a nice hospital. Wish me luck Update: food is still terrible lol. Chicken salad sandwich was the way to go. In the end I didn’t have a tumor in my brain but extreme inflammation in my brain. Treatment was high level steroids and removal of small tumors in the chest. The nurse suck at putting an iv cause they poke you at lest 4-8 times to get one through which is absurd in my opinion. They need better training on this. Overall I didn’t like how little time they gave me to discharged me home. Like you should of least give notice a day before discharged than the day of after lunch. Like how am I going to coordinate a ride home with such little time. ICU nurse during my stay was 10/10 she knew her stuff and advocate for pain meds. The doctors here are incompetent in having a good pain management plan after surgery. I have to beg like a dog left a bad taste in my mouth. I hope I never meet the doctor in charge of pain management cause he would get a ear full from me. God bless now and take care.

The doctors and nurses at Houston Methodist Medical Center are the best of the best. My daughter was diagnosed with Gastroparesis two years ago and we have visited many of the hospitals in and around Houston, seeking treatment for her symptoms. After four hospitals failing to stop her vomiting, we went to Houston Methodist in the Medical Center. We stayed in the hospital for 2.5 weeks and the nurses and staff took excellent care of my daughter and showed me a ton of compassion as well, since I was “living there” with her during her entire stay. I appreciated that the hospital graciously allowed me to spend 24 hours a day there and provided me with pillows and sheets to make me comfortable. The nurses and doctors worked around the clock to ensure that my daughter received the care that she need and continued to run tests (including studies) until they could stop her vomiting (which lasted 3.5 weeks). While all of the other hospitals sent me home with a child that could not hold down food or water, Methodist Medical Center ensured that the procedure they performed was successful and that she could eat and drink on her own before releasing her. I was at my breaking point, thinking that my daughter was not going to survive this - not being able to eat or drink on her own, and Methodist Medical Center saw my distress and hopelessness and saved my daughter’s life. I will forever be grateful for the compassionate staff and exceptionally intelligent nurses and doctors that came up with a solution that worked for my daughter and allows her to live a normal life. In addition, the doctors continue to follow up with my daughter and ensure that the study is continuing to work … true compassion and caring! Thank you so much for being the best hospital with the best staff in Houston.

I learned I needed to have both hips replaced and in getting a referral I asked my doctor to find a doctor from Methodist because they had such a great reputation. I have learned this is no longer the case. I did my research and knew it was going to be hard but never expected staff to be part of the problem. I was expecting PT to come get me out of bed and standing soon after surgery. I did not expect the woman to start accusing me of wasting her time because it took me 10 minutes to stand. Or that she wasn’t safeguarding me properly so that when I did stand the walker popped a wheelie and I was thrown back onto the bed. The next PT helped me to stand and my best friend started cheering for me only to be told I hadn’t really done anything and it was the PT that did the work. She ended up refusing to work with me for asking a question she didn’t like. The doctor on the floor came in one day asking if I was just going to lay in bed all day or was I planning on working with PT - after I had finished sessions with both PT and OT earlier in the day. I went in on a Tuesday but had no help with basic hygiene or clean sheets until the following Sunday. I finally asked to be sent home because of the toxic environment, inconsistent levels of care - some nights took up to six hours to get pain meds brought - and because I no longer felt safe in that environment. There were some wonderful people that truly tried to help me but the majority were really negative and not helpful. It’s sad that the hospital was not able to maintain their once good reputation.

Let me tell you about a place I would not trust to treat my dog… I work at a near by hospital and think to Uber to this ER when I get off work. To start they poked me like a voodoo doll because apparently none of the ER nurses should be working there. I get told I can stay for observation “ if I want” when I’m having labored breathing and can’t take full breathes without pain by the ER Dr. Then the Dr Tanabe should not be allowed to practice periodt. This ignorant individual reviews I need a CPAP along without all my medication for me to be admitted. PUTS IN NOT A DAMN THING!!!! The nurse MaryRose upstairs knows nothing has not made sure to get nothing going, I get upstairs around 2am to my room M661, that I am sure was built in the 1950 and has not seen paint since then from all the dingy walls. Then toilet is even stained and they have the nerve to holes in the sheet anyways… no breathing treatment given until I ask for the charge nurse Rachel that took an hour, then at 6am with offering me pain pills while I have a IV, tries to put a CPAP on me to go to sleep … I swear I’m not making this up. So at this point I’m in tears. 7:00am the Dr is walking down the hall being told how pissed I am then comes back to tell me a vitamin and steroids he can discharge me with to help with my acute bronchitis and states he can give me a pain medication. This experience made Ben Taub look like Menniger to me. Still waiting for the nurse Megan to figure out who is the house supervisor and get me the patient liaison Becky so someone can hear this in person.

Very skilled and knowledgeable doctors. However, what's the point of having online booking systems on the main website that does not accurately portray the availability of the doctor? Far too many times I've tried to book with a provider and the office never follows up with me, and I end up calling them anyways and they clearly never have even received my booking request. Recent ER visit: Either have a super easy case or a super severe case. Anything else you're on your own. Received no pain management or even a physical eval for terrible spine and abdomen pain. Was in agony for 7 hours as I waited for the bare minimum of service. Was prescribed toradol and tylenol at different points which took four hours for me to get. I can take both at home. Didn't even speak to the doctor, yet we're getting charged for this doctor's service. The least he could have done is talked to us. I have a complex case. I can barely walk. NP narrowed right into the "most obvious issue" and forgot that I mentioned other issues which she deemed as "new symptoms later." I get that it's the ER, but it's no longer the pandemic and to have to wait until to see a good specialist is available is agonizing. I'm 28, and can't even walk or sit up properly. The best specialists are booked months out. My back pain happened suddenly. I got a CT scan and they told me to leave without any further care. MRIs are only reserved for people in accidents or true emergencies. Don't bother coming here unless you have a severe emergency. Slept one hour that night once I got home.

Docs werereceived? Stacff Nursing Staff Were Great. Transplant folks were responsive. Food service puts renal patients at risk. Lunch, on 04 Feburary, was served on the transplant ward at 1345 (1:45 PM). It was cold. Not luke warm, cold. Transplant patients are warned in Methodist provided literature not to eat cold cooked food. We are instructed to reheat the food to 165 degrees before consuming. This is due to our compromised immune systems. I could not reheat my pot pie because I am in the hospital. It was also served in Styrofoam packaging, which is unsafe to microwave food in. In the interest of patient safety, is there any way that your Dietary department could ensure that meals for immunocompromised patients are served hot? It is reasonable to expect that the hospital follow the same food safety guidelines that patients are expected to follow at home. On Thursday, 02 February, my breakfast tray had 4 salt packs on it. Renal patients are allowed only limited sodium. I had only 1 salt pack on my order. This behavior also puts patient health at greater risk. Not all patients have all their faculties all the time. The reasonable assumption of a patient is that anything on the tray is OK to eat. In my 2 stays here, the items I ordered have actually been delivered about 30% of the time. I wonder how well they actually disinfect this place if management's appathy allows the food to put patients at risk. How well does staff measure and prepare our medicines? Am I only being billed for services I receiced?

We have delivered two babies at Houston Methodist, and we could not imagine going anywhere else to have a child. The professionalism, expertise, and overall great attitudes demonstrated by the staff here is second to none. Our L&D nurses and techs were all amazing and every single one of them went that extra mile for us to make us feel more at ease and comfortable throughout our time here. They paid attention to the details and treated us like we were part of their family. The NICU nurses showed their dedication and compassion for my son and all of their patients. I never felt worried when I would have to leave my son solely in their care because I knew they had everything under control. Every single doctor my family had shined and really showed their level of dedication they have to their craft. They never spoke down to us or hid anything from us, and they were honest, personable, and compassionate in every interaction we had with them. Even the staff we encountered in the cafeteria, health and nutrition, housekeeping, and administration all treated us we the greatest attitude. You could tell that throughout the hospital the staff had great relationships with their patients, visitors, and with each other. I don’t think you could ask for much more than that from a hospital staff. I will always be grateful for this experience they helped provide and will forever feel comfortable bringing my family here, if needed. Thank you to the staff of Houston Methodist.

Disgusting, doctors, everything. The ER is even worse. They don’t care if you’re someone who is young and sick. They’re dismissive, rude, and uncaring. Went months undiagnosed due to Lyme when they LAUGHED in my face saying that’s impossible I have that. Have developed chronic debilitating health issues like, MALS heart issues, neuro issues due to this hospital. The doctors do not care at all they don’t want to take accountability and label you “anxious” instead of trying to figure out what’s wrong. Do not go here especially if you have complicated symptoms they’re lazy and it’s a joke. Save yourself the time and go to doctors who are willing to think outside of the box instead of being so stuck in a textbook. It’s dangerous to go here if you have Lyme disease especially they will laugh it off and lead you down wrong diagnoses. I’m a truly disgusted and appalled at this hospital and it’s doctors. They don’t treat you like a human being, they will discharge you in worse condition than you came in. I’ve been chronically bedridden for a year because they misdiagnosed me a million times. I have no words to describe how awful an experience I’ve had with these doctors. My family and I have suffered due to their incompetence. Don’t put your trust in them they will literally disappoint every time. It’s crazy to me how bad the healthcare industry has gotten to just throw pills at someone “treat the symptoms” and continue to take your money. It’s a joke. Disgusting

3 Days here was the worse days of my life it went from 1-3 days here different staff coming in an out of the room errors being made staff not reading notes are communicating all this lab work an test ran on my brother no one came in to keep him informed on whats going on everytime he asked a nurse are staff member why he was giving certain medications or why he constantly had to have blood drawn an why none of the staff seem to know anything bout why he is taking all the medications, blooddraws, an test an still not confirmed to the patient his diagnostics pt starting getting very upset. Pt asked for housekeeping for several hours still no show of the housekeepers...The whole 3 days here no one besides the younglady Alexis that was working another side came in an gave him a good wipe down and attended to his needs she puts her patients fist.. Most staff were out on there phones instead of tending to patients that is was unprofessional. The nurses that assigned patients rarely checked on them the cna an ma did more than most of the RN. I would like to mostly thank the 2 ladys that took care of him last night on night shift 8/10/23 7pm-7am shift the 2 asian ladys, monica, alexis, an darren for taking care of my brothers needs an attending to the patients was they first priority very professional....

The nurses, doctors and staff are truly wonderful! Efficient, intelligent & kind. The facility is very nice & food was really good. Unfortunately the billing department doesn't even come close to being wonderful. I got a call the afternoon before my procedure the next morning telling me I owed over $2000 for this procedure. The strong implication was that I would not be able to have the procedure without paying up front. When I objected to having to pay up front before my insurance company had reviewed & issued my explanation of benefits, I was told I could pay 60%. Since I felt like I had a gun to my head, I did that only to find out later that the 60% payment exceeded my deductible. I complained to the business department and was told that the representative that called me was following her "script". When I asked if I would have been denied the procedure, I was told no but the rep could only "offer" me a 60% payment. If I had told her I was unable to pay then she would have transferred me to someone to arrange payments. Lesson learned - I will always tell them I need to make other payment arrangements in the future. Their policy is to collect up front & issue refunds later :( If everything else had not gone so well, I would be switching providers.

My 5-star review is strictly for two nurses in Labor and Delivery: Courtney Brown & Laura Reyes are two of the most kind, caring, amazing RN’s a patient can have. My heart absolutely broke the day I delivered my tiny little baby girl before she was old enough to survive. It was the worst moment of my entire life and I have never felt pain so deep. Courtney & Laura were two nurses that took care of me and treated me as if I were family to them. I will always remember how the both of them made me feel while I was there when I think of this very hard outcome for my husband and I. Thank you both for not only being so amazing to me, but thank you also for acknowledging my baby girls name every time you walked into the room. Thank you both for showing me that she mattered even to you. As far as the hospital alone goes, I would give you a 0-star review for firing employees who refuse the covid vaccine. What a disgusting and despicable act and shame on the hospital for doing something so sick and controlling. To anyone who has been fired or will be.... just remember, God is in control, and He will provide for every single person who gets let go of because of this twisted policy.

Our family member had a incision hernia repair and we asked for a heating pad at 7:12pm it is now 9:05pm and still no heating pad. If we knew it was going to take this long we could of gotten one ourselves by now. Their excuse is that they needed doctor to approve the heating pad. She has been in pain since 2:00pm it has not lowered from 8-9 pain level. The nurses constantly come in here with a bad attitude and keep on saying they need doctors approval its been 5 hours since she complained about pain and nothing has been done. Does it take this long for a doctor to approve something as important as pain medication?! Update: After our family member was in pain all day and all night with our nurse Jolyn and the on call doctor telling us that the pain specialist does not work during the night and there was nothing they could do for pain that was at a level 9 this entire time! We finally got to see the pain specialist this morning at 9:30am only to find out she was here the whole night and was on call!! She also mentioned that she was severely under dosed which came as a shock to us because our nurses kept on saying they could give anything because they would overdose her.

It really will not be a good idea to visit this hospitals’ emergency room. I waited in their waiting area for eight hours with my daughter that was having really bad pain. It was a horrible experience. Molly, the Triage receptionist will single out certain patients. It do not matter if you have insurance. She will not take certain patient vital signs. My daughter did not get hers taken until she told a staff member about how she was concerned about why her vital signs or her medical information were not taken. While being wheeled to the waiting area, there will be many sick patients laying on stretchers lined up against a wall in the hallway. The Staff will issue patients IV’s to them while they are sitting in the waiting area. The staff also discuss your personal issues right in front of a crowded waiting area. My daughter was wheeled into a hospital stall without a bed to sit in a chair in pain. You may leave this hospitals’ emergency room sicker than you did before you arrived. My daughter will definitely receive a lengthy bill for a visit to a emergency room that was not worth visiting.

Family member is in pain for the longest hours. nurse Jolyn all could say is "we call her on call doctor but isn't answering" I had to demand to request some one els, another on call came in and I over herd she was upset that nurses did not give her a chart for my family member of past medical history kidney transplant or any information whats so ever as to assistant juliann has a horrible attitude worse experience ever we also requested a simple heating pad and couldn't even get that. Patients here are trying to rest and all we can hear nurses on Dunn tower8 west talking loud and laughing obnoxiously at night. Have some respect if you can't accommodate our loved one THAT WAS IN HORRIBLE PAIN THE ENTIRE DAY AND NIGHT only to find out jolyn and Erika never called my loved ones pain specialist that was here last night and was told she was under dosed. The nurses here don't arrive on time for the next pain dose for my mom we would have to ring them in numerous of times to remind them. CARELESS CARELESS STAFF. Update: we are home now and doctors didn't send in her prescription really.

The attention received by Drs and nurses in quite good, they were very polite and caring for my daughter. But it was terribly disorganized: we were transferred from another clinic for an acute apendicitis, surgery should be done asap and mu daughter was kept waiting in admission desk for 3 hours. Nobody was able to explain why, they apologized several times. She was in hospital just for one day, the nurses were very good anda accurate, but maid service was very disorganized, need to ask for water and sheets several times, tea was never served, dinner arrived even if we we leaving the hospital and which is worse was that after the Dr released my daughter, we were kept waiting for paper work to be done for more than 2 hours ( they were unable to contact the Dr again for making him sign the documents). A hospital like this SHOULD have a procedure in order to be applied in these cases in order to prevent the patient kept waiting unnecessarily. Nurses didn’t have the Dr telephone number to call him directly.

This review is for the Business Department, please do not renew your contract with your existing Answering Service. I know that few years ago you signed a contact for all of your doctors to use one answering service and I am sure this answering service gave you a "Great Deal"... but they are terrible, on average when you reach said answering sevrice (whether during the day - roll over serivce or after hours) it takes 10 minutes or longer for them to answer the lines. Please request a rings count or time to answer report from them. Otherwise I love Methodist, when ever I reach the hospital switch board I am always delighted and assisted promptly. I understand the need to have an answering service, they provide vital role after hours and for roll over services. However, it only works well if they answer the phone and waiting 10 plus minutes is not effective. There are several quality Answering Service providers out there and the one you have cannot handle your call volume.

The absolute worst place ever. This place gets no stars, but In order to post this I have to give at least one star. A family member of mine was here and was ignored. The nursing staff is completely incompetent, uncaring, and lazy. The bedside manner of the staff is non existent. My family member went without pain medication after major surgery and none of the staff did anything about it. They lied about talking to the Dr and giving her the right medication. My family member had to call and complain to the dr in order to get relief. I heard another patient down the hall complaining about not getting medicine on time. The nurse he was complaining to did not say a word. There is no sympathy, no urgency, and the nursing staff seem like they don’t want to be here. I witnessed two nurses at the mobile computer stations sitting there staring at the computer. Not doing a thing! How can you run a hospital with these kind of nurses??? If you are reading this please stay away!!!!

I have been in the medical field for over 20 years. I’ve been to Methodist numerous times and have usually been impressed by the care they provide. However this last time, my father was sent to the new tower that they just completely building. It was a terrible experience. The staff was poorly organized and poorly trained. Many of the new nurses were incapable of caring for my father because he was a tall and large man. They often required my help. The staff were not attentive and took forever for them to answer the call light. Most of them did not know what was going on with my father’s plan of care and I had to inform him on numerous issues. I honestly would think twice about sending my parents or coming myself to this hospital. I was not impressed and greatly disappointed with the level of care that they provided. They have a reputation for providing some of the best care, but on this occasion they failed epically.

My older friend went in with the shingles. She was fine and just getting looked over. She had an appointment. Instead, they told her nothing, tied her to a bed, and pumped her full of drugs she was allergic to. She’s 76 and they thought she was alone and homeless. I believe they are committing insurance fraud on what they perceive as the vulnerable population. “Miss Morgan” came in as often as she could to taunt her. She never signed a form saying she agreed to stay. She wasn’t allowed to have her phone, and they told everyone she had COVID which she didn’t. This is false imprisonment and fraud. The hospitals are all over the news for doing this to the elderly and homeless population. If anybody works with the news as an investigator or with insurance companies to detect fraud, please look into this. This is the next hospital to be on the news, I’m sure of it. I wonder how many died of “COVID” in their care.

This place is horrible. Dr. Boom needs to bring in a new staff. The people he has working under him start from the environmental director. The people from H.R. This place loves cover-up things. My Patient Right, we're violated by a Psycho staff member. I called to report it back in August. I was told by the assistant director from environmental service that she will be getting back to me about this issue. It's 9/28/22. I'm still waiting. What really got me? I explained to her what happened; she tells me well, "What do you want me to do about it?" I even emailed her boss; he never replied back. I've called H.R. Many times, left messages . I spoke to the head person of H.R. it was a waste of time as well. This place is sick. I'm sure I will get a reply back after they see this review. I think I need to contact the news people l need to let them know about this hospital who really don't have ICARE Value.

The doctors were great. Night staff was great. ER front desk- nasty attitude. Brother in law and sister in law came to the hospital from Huntsville. I am telling them what room to go to and she said, RUDELY, how many are going back. I said just them. She said,RUDELY AGAIN, because only 2 can go back and you are gonna have to wait. Well I responded that I was not planning on going back because I knew what the limit was. She needs to remember that they are sick people here who do not know the outcome of a family member. Do not be rude to them. Believe me, he does not want to be here anymore then you want him to be. Just because you are busy does not mean you have to disrespect family members. I would hate to see you treat a family if their loved one died. Very unprofessional.

My dialysis center called EMS to take me to the ER because my blood pressure was ridiculously high. They asked me what hospital I wanted to go to and I said Bentaub since they have all of my medical records already. Lucky that Bentaub was saturated due to Covid-19 because I was impressed by the level of care I received while at Methodist. The staff is well trained and actually seem to care for the patients. They made sure I was comfortable every step of the way. I was admitted to the hospital and was very pleased by the attention I received from the nurses and doctors. They did their best to make sure I had everything I needed and also to make sure I was comfortable and pain free. I highly recommend this hospital to anyone and will choose this hospital myself from now on.

First a shout out goes to the fabulous Nurse Gertrude at the Methodist Hospital on main. She is the most awesome nurse I’ve ever met. She is skilled, knowledgeable, caring, reliable, responsible, patient, kind, and the nicest person ever. To me she is the face of Methodist Hospital I was in room 1811 in Walter Tower 2-28-23. May she get the recognition that she deserves. She saved me from a very difficult and mean nurse Carman who was my nurse the night before. Carmen deserves an award for being the most uncaring, meanest, hateful, unreliable person that I have ever had to turn to for healthcare I was just out of surgery and needed her help and she refused to come to my room or offer any assistance. She is mean and a complete failure at this job.

This facility and all staff from surgeons to those who meticulously ensured our room was clean were world class top notch 5 star to be sure. We were treated like treasured family. Staff endlessly went out of their way to make sure we were as comfortable as possible, which was challenging because we were there for full open heart surgery. Facilities were state of the art, and all personnel were knowledgeable and over the top friendly. If you need medical treatment and have the option to choose this facility, JUST DO IT. And, to the admin staff member who bought me dinner on July 1st, around 5:30 pm in the Marketplace, you will never know just how much your random act of kindness blessed me. God is good... All the time. Thank you!

  • T Tree

Avoid this medical facility at all costs unless you have endless time to hunt down doctors and are comfortable waiting weeks, if not months, for treatment while in severe pain. You'll find yourself perpetually on hold or transferred to an answering service, even during business hours. Don't expect a prompt appointment either; there's an 80-person deep waiting list and scheduling is near impossible due to frequent staff vacations. Pain management? Nonexistent. Take a look at their reviews; every other one is a one-star rating. Trust me, your well-being (life) is at stake. You'd receive better attention and care at a local vet clinic. I wish I could give zero stars, but unfortunately, that's not an option.

Nurses are subpar. I stayed 3 nights on the 8th floor and the only good nurse I had was Dayna. All the other nurses had subpar skills and showed no compassion towards you. They just wanted to get out of there. Attending was okay and the fellow I had was awful. Acted like he knew everything and was medical gaslighting me with every question I had. Guys nutrition education was awful too. I was recommended Gatorade as an electrolyte drink when all that is a highly processed carb drink loaded with sugar and high fructose corn syrup. Stay overall felt more like a hotel visit. All they care about is their reviews and racking up bills. Healthcare has gone down the drain. Do better

This Hospital required me to leave the room at 8:00 pm where my daughter has been in induced labor since last night. They allowed her husband to stay with her but I am sitting in a cold waiting room at 11:00 pm instead of being with my only daughter while she is in labor with her fifth child. I don't want to leave her here as anything could happen with her and the baby. In the room was a nice comfortable recliner and a sofa where I could have rested after driving more than 200 miles to be here with her. I don't call this hospitality or family friendly. On the other hand I thought the staff was very professional and courteous and helpful in every way.

I won’t lie, I almost left a one start review but now that I’ve been tested and discharge I can give a better review. The wait time in the ER is crazy. It took me like 5 hours. At certain points I felt like the triage staff was avoiding me. Especially once my wait time hit like 3 hours. Once my intake was complete and I got a room the service and treatment was amazing. Very attentive staff especially the nurses. Joe and Dayna were amazing. I can’t recall my one of the doctors names that tested me but he was amazing as well. I can’t say I’d go back because that wait time was a little blood boiling but I can’t say my experience was horrible either.

This hospital didn’t want to accept my mother due to health complications, isn’t this a hospital that can take care of patients with health complications. My mother has been fighting with COVID for 7 months and needs a lung transplant and this hospital refused to take her, she is a candidate for a lung transplant, and keeps denying my mother. My mother does not have any other health complication, her other organs are perfectly fine, she is alert and oriented, how can i let her die just because they dont take patient with complications that doesn’t make sense. I guess this hospital take healthy patients to care for. Honestly very disappointed

I would like to say there is a young man that works the garage his name is Tyrone and I came here to sit with a client for the first time.I got lost could not remember which garage I parked in .Tyrone walked with me from one side of this Football field of a Hospital to Driving me around on the golf cart.He was very patient and very kind while I had a panic attack he never stopped until we found my car. There needs to be more awesome people like him. There were other friendly people offered help but Tyrone gets Stars. Thanks for your patience and dedicated compassion.May God Bless You Richly. Thank You. Ruby. Wallace

Sitting here with a family member & it took these simple-minded nurses 2 hrs to get an IV started!!!! I'm watching racist Karen make sure she clear her kind out the room while we still haven't gotten them to properly put the IV in my brother arm!! Two nurses pretending to work, they're touching doors, using the same gloves, & when asked to change her gloves she snapped & responded, you don't need to tell me. Apparently I do because she went in n out the door twice & her hands look sweaty in her gloves. Nasty____!!! Worse experience ever!! But they not gone handle him any kind of way!!! Better believe that much

  • Shae Jen

I'm just being completely honest... The medical care was on par but I cannot get past feeling that the ER could be kept a lot cleaner than it is. I was very uncomfortable by the unsanitary conditions and I plan to not go back there if I can help it. I openly complained while I was there only for them to tell me that they wipe it down really well when I can clearly see stains on the equipment as well as the dirty floors and table. It was disgusting For a hospital in my opinion. I don't know if they need to pay better or hire more people but whatever it is they should do it to obtain better conditions.

Miserable place for urgent medical attention. I visited a physician for knee injury as that was the only way to get to an orthopedician. I did not get an apppointmentfor MRI anytime before a week(I had to do it second time in a different location for the malfunctioning of the MRI). They did not update the MRI report days after I had it. I was said that would directly sent to the doctor and after following up for couple of days, the doctor hadn’t seen my report. I have been suspected to have knee injuries that might require surgery and this has been my struggle so far just to get the diagnosis report

  • Arlene Coffman

This is the worst care I have seen. The first admission my father had in early March was bad, and this is much worse. We had no choice but to bring him back because of his doctor, but since we have been here in the ED has was placed on a bloody gurney, left in a hallway for 3 hours, and now we are in a turf war between departments. In the meantime my dad is sitting in an ED room waiting on a determination if he needs surgery and no one seems to care. This was all pre-arranged and yet we still sit 7.5 hours with no answers at all. And Methodist states they are leading medicine? Seriously?

  • Roma Vespa

My wife is going through chemo and we are absolutely outraged at the level of care halfway through her treatment. From disrespectful Dr.s, HIPPA violations and dismissive behavior and comments from the teaching staff, we are Re-evaluating and considering MD Anderson. A billion dollar organization like Methodist has ZERO excuse for what we’ve experienced thus far. —— Patient Liason is a joke. They let you vent, but nothing truly gets addressed. I will ensure that I will bring my complaints outside of their organization to outside oversight agencies. I HAVE TIME.

  • buddy fortenberry

As always first class & very friendly and professional. Special thanks to the sweet lady who was cleaning tables in the dinning room at 4:40 pm in the Dunn Tower Resturant. She went out of her way to help an elderly couple one in a wheelchair carrying their food & pushing him in the wheelchair. Besides myself there was only 2 other people. She didn’t have to help but she did and didn’t care if anyone saw her. She has to have a great heart and it should not go unnoticed. Doing the right thing even when no one is looking. I saw and God saw. Bless you Peggy.

  • Rhonda Fussell

They never answer the phone. You have to leave a message and wait for them to call you back then they have this famous my chart online but you can't schedule an appointment online. You have to request an appointment and then they'll call you back. It's super annoying they have no cares for their patients. They have one of the best doctors, and zero customer service. I have been using the same doctor for over 15 years but I'm gonna have to leave him because I cannot stand this place. I called in at my convenience, but I have to wait on their convenience.

  • P. L. Avina

Five weeks ago I had open heart surgery to repair an aortic aneurysm and a valve. The surgery performed by Dr. Marvin Atkins, Jr. was a great success. Along with the surgery everyone that took care of me was so professional and caring I would give them a ten if I could. It's tough coming out of the surgery, but I had the best care possible. Thank you so much to everyone I saw. I cannot stress it enough if anyone needs heart surgery go to Methodist. I know the Houston traffic and the parking is a pain, but you won't regret it.

  • Sean Sasafraz

Facility looks nice, staff is nice as well. But Hospital does not offer same level of cancer treatment as other facilities, though they claim to. Do not offer 7 day a week outpatient care. If you need certain infusions over the weekend or holiday you have to be admitted for 23 hour observation(shame cancer and infection s don't work banker's hours). If you are late for your appointment say over an hour you have to reschedule, but if they ask you to come in earlier and you do, then you have to wait on them for over an hour.

  • Charles Pavlovich

Went in for an ileostomy take down and the customer service started as soon as I walked in the door, a maintenance man asked if I needed directions. Everyone I passed had something to say, do you need help, were are you headed? All smiles. After Surgery I was placed in the care of nurse Jeff, who was so nice and professional. Also Sharron would come and check on me. Those are the names I remember but the whole Gastro floor was TOP NOTCH! Couldn't under the circumstances ask for better care and treatment, it was damn good.

  • Lori Soliz

I can't say enough about this hospital. The doctors, nurses & support staff made all the difference in my father's successful liver & kidney transplant. For at least 10 years we were in and out of this hospital. The physicians and staff always made us feel at ease knowing my dad was in the best care possible. We are forever grateful and highly recommend this hospital for it's professionalism, care and hospitality. It was well worth the 3 hour drive we had to take in order to get him the best care in the world.

  • Danyell Janea

I waited up there for 5 hour for them to not do nothing they didn’t give me nothing for my pain just told me what was wrong with me and sent me on my way. I got there at 10 and left at almost 3 the nurses at the front desk were no help at all. If you dont have insurance do not I repeat do not go to this hospital it was people that got there hours after i was already there and was sent straight to the back and discharge why i was still called on. If i could give this hospital half a star i would but i cant

  • Nina Tang

I had surgery in June 2020 and stayed overnight at the hospital. Everything went well, from my first doctor's visit to pre-op /post-op care. I appreciated the extra measures the hospital had taken to ensure my safety. My room on the 12th floor of Fondren far exceeded my expectation. It was spacious and cozy like a hotel suite! From the bottom of my heart, I'd like to thank my surgeon Dr. Aparna Kamat for her empathy and expertise, and all my care takers who were attentive to my needs during my stay!

  • Charlotte Hawkins

I went in to Have Hysterectomy and it was the best experience ever! The staff was on point! They were very kind courteous and funny at the same time. They helped me in any way possible, with out me even asking for it first! The Nurses were so nice and understanding to the utmost! I would recommend Methodist Medical Center as my first choice anytime! My experience was quite refreshing compared to some other Hospitals that i’ve been to! They’re number one! in my book! Thank you Methodist for caring !

  • Samantha Fraley

TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE AND COMMUNICATION. I scheduled my appointment with Houston Methodist in June for August 15. They sent me a text message to inform me that they cancelled my appointment. They did not give me a courtesy call to reschedule. I had to call to find out if the appointment could be rescheduled, just to find out they can’t schedule me until November. The appointment cancellation was on their end and is their fault but they did not offer anything for the inconvenience.

  • Kimberlyn Jackson

I am currently a patient here, was admitted through the ER three days ago for severe abdominal pain, they took me back right away, were very friendly and professional and started all the tests explaining what each was for. Was admitted to inpatient care and had Dr.Sharma and surgeon Dr. Lambert , THE BEST care team I could have asked for! All the staff , every nurse , NA, and housekeeper has been very helpful in caring for all my needs 10 out of 10 recommend.

  • Marla Benson

My son had surgery today to remove a tumor from his kidney. The Doctor and pre-op staff were great but it went down hill since. He went to recovery at about 4pm. It is now 7:35pm and he is still in recovery because there is no bed. My daughter in law wants to see him before we drive the 2 hours home. Oh and by the way my daughter in law had heart failure last week and now has a new pacemaker. She's tired and I need to get her home and no one seems to care.

  • Matthias Abke

Terrible experience the ER overcharged me by $5,400 as a "co pay" required before service. My insurance covered the whole bill minus a $43 copay however the hospital has been refusing to refund the remainder of the bill for the last month and a half. They claim its in a "floating account" I would avoid this hospital if you have any other choices they will not refund any overpayments due to their mistakes on the copayment amounts.

  • Noah Was

Service for children methodist has fast service for check in and wait time. But the security guards are unprofessional and rude. I asking directions to where is the check in entrance to the children hospital area. A security guard said, I don't know all of these floors has entrances and proceeded to put in here headphones and listen to music. Don't need much security if there going to ignore and listen to music all night.

  • Vern Kirby

I am here with my wife. She is on the transplant list and at this time will not need one. I can say Ben Taub and LBJ were great and saved her life. However this place is scary. I don't know if any of them are qualified, you never know who you will see and there is almost zero communication. I feel trapped and pray nothing will actually be needed here. All we do is submit to test that are costly and paid by medicare.

  • James Vasquez

Unfortunately my wife and I have to come to the E.R every 2 months or so, and of course we have to wait in the E.R for a day and a half sometimes 2 days, extremely short handed, nurses in E.R rarely check up on their patients, don’t expect much from this hospital. Your loved one will suffer in pain for hours without any help. They’ll say “okay, let me check for you” and take 8 hours to come back with an answer .

  • Terri Colmenares

So impressed with the quality of care and staff all around! From ER to stoke unit you were absolutely amazing! Special shout out to Denise, Taylor, Aylene, Juan and Ted. Apologize to those my husband can’t recall! Y’all amazing. Special recognition to the ER! Never in my years of being an ER nurse did we succeed in the time frame you got him worked up and admitted. Very impressed and grateful to ALL your staff!

  • Tammy B

I was billed/paid out of pocket for a procedure that was later fully covered by my in-network insurance- they paid hospital - patient advocate and billing are nonresponsive to several calls for refund of amount I paid and ignored communication in their app - will be reporting to ethics board and my insurance (Tricare for Active Duty) as this is fraud - hospital double collected.

  • Kristina LaRue

I was at this Hospital twice, once in Dec 2021 (17 floor) and again this past Monday March 2022 (18 floor) Dr. Gressot for two major surgeries. The staff here were phenomenal. Short handed as they were, they were spot on!! Friendly, helpful, with smiles on. Michelle needs a raise I'll tell ya. She went beyond helping me. Thank you all for making my stay pleasant!!

  • duza

The ER is a joke. I brought my mother here around 3:30 pm and it’s almost midnight. She’s in a lot of pain and has been holding her urine sample for hours. when we told the nurse there about it she said to wait. I’m pretty sure the sample is no longer good. Then when the er waiting room was full, I went to sit in the lobby and security told me to leave the lobby.

  • Barbara Kirsch

Sarah, the manager of registration of building 4 went above and beyond when I was about to collapse trying to find building 3. She found me a wheel chair and wheeled me from building 4 to my doctor!’s office in building 3. She was kind, compassionate and caring. Thank you Sarah! You are a very special person and an outstanding employee! Barbara Kirsch PhD, PMHNP

  • Michelle Watts

This is the worst ER every everyone is around talking and no doctors around to give the patient we are here with any comfort of more pain meds. Waiting on a room for about 5 hours for her and still not in one. This hospital is not the number 1 leading hospital please go to St Luke's they care about their patients trust me. I would give one star if I could

  • Cassie Nielsen

Absolutely awful experience. I took my son into the ER on his pcp's request to have him looked at for further care and the woman at the counter actually told me that they would check me in but it was a waste of their time and recourses and that they aren't a pediatric hospital. I took him to St Luke's down the road in the vintage and they've been amazing.

  • Sam C

Has been at hospital for the whole day today. Spent half of time at ER. The team of doctors, nurses, & staffs are knowledgeable and super friendly which made my day went by easier. Today I was back to HM for outpatient treatment. The staffs at outpatient center really make me feel like a home since walking in. Will be back for several more times.

  • Taylor Whitfield

The care my grandmother has received at this hospital has been absolutely incredible. The most sweet and caring nurses and CNAs ever. Thank you so much for putting us at ease and taking care of her. Chelsie, the aide on the 5th floor, is beyond sweet and loves her patients so much. She treated my grandma like her own. We are very thankful!

  • Truth BTold

I give three stars because my serious condition was found there by another specialist. That is all because, I have been waiting for over 2 weeks to even get all call to even get an appointment for treatment. I wonder if these foreign Kings and Queens that go there get moved to the front. Better not. I will sue the hell out of them.

  • Mohammed Al-Mansob

I went their for a training course. It is a world class institute for both patients and professionals. Located at a busy medical city, so you should really now how to navigate otherwise you may find yourself lost between tons of medical buildings and centers. The parking is convenient has a lot of options however not cheap.

  • Jeff Norris

They sent my daughter home less than 4 hours after a TIA… a mini stroke! The surgeon who did the surgery was a post surgery no-show until just before they tossed her to the street. Did not even notice her scar from her heart surgery and did not even contact her cardiologist from the same hospital. Totally unacceptable!!!!!

  • susmitha A

This is a review for Dr. Rachna Bhala. She is one of the best Gynechologists' in the town and hightly recommendable ! Thank you for your care during my pregnancy and delivery. You made the time pass quickly during labor!” “Thank you all for all the care you have given us over the past few years. You have all been so kind !

  • Alex

Worst experience ever in this place, trauma doctors and nurses where not Determine in what they needed to do, they were not assertive in following their procedures and didn't have a sense of urgency. Doctor walker didn't show any empathy or any humane qualities these guys where not qualified enough to handle the situation.

  • Chakrapani Subramanyam

The endocrinology scheduling department is most inefficient outfit. Have been trying to schedule a new patient for more than a week now. Have provided all the info and they are supposed to get a call within 48-72 hours. Total lie. If they cannot get appointments how good the doctors are. Time to think about other groups

  • One Shot Memorial

I had a recent outpatient procedure and I want to give honor to the hospital staff from scheduling, billing, preoperative services, my team of doctors and nurses on the day of surgery, and the amazing surgical team. Everybody was so very noble and wonderful to me. It was the best procedure I've ever had. Thank you.

  • Jackie Henderson

My husband was there for one night- the night nurse, Valeria was amazing and very attentive. However, the nurse who replaced her at 7 am was not available most of the time she was there- we waited literally hours for pain meds, assistance to get up, assistance to walk etc- I’m so disappointed in the hospital,

  • Virginia Estrada

The birth center nicu are such an incredible staff. All the nurses are so amazing and patient with the nicu babies. My daughter is in nicu at the moment and they make me feel so comfortable and at peace knowing they are in the best hands being well taken care of. Seriously the best nurses in that nicu ever,

  • Lama Ta

The nurses have NOcompassion for these patients. they are slow and understaffed, and they are under Trained .Sugarland Hospital staffing is more professional, but they are not the best. there is a good nurse and doctor, but the rest are horrible. Do not go there or don't leave your loved one there alone

  • Nunya Rosa

Never made it past the front desk but first impressions are everything. As I stood there for 1/2 hour waiting on someone to come from the Covid unit to pick up a box. I felt they could have been more helpful. I had to call the unit myself and locate the nurse because they didn't call the right location.

  • Melvin Gibson

The surgical staff and night staff at this hospital are wonderful. The processes they have in place to ensure quality treatment is nice. However day time nursing staff and administrative staff often have poor attitudes and reluctance to do their job. That being said overall the good outweighs the bad.

  • Boss Washington

Horrible HOSPITAL PLEASE DO NOT COME HERE ONLY CHILDREN WORK HERE DONT NO WHAT THEIR TALKING ABOUT DONT CARE ABOUT PATIENTS PATIENCE DO NOT GET ANY CARE JUST THROWN IN A ROOM DONT GET TO SLEEP NO TYPE OF PAIN RELIFE WORRST HOSPITAL MY FRIEND HAS BEEN SUFFERING IN PAIN AND THEY DONT CARE

  • R B.

Would never recommend Dr. Beau Briese if he was the last doctor on earth. An intolerant bigot who has no empathy, and has no business being in a position to care for others! Shame on you Houston Methodist for allowing someone like Dr. Beau Briese to care for patients! Never again.

  • Amber Garza

Love this hospital they take really good care of you all the staff is wonderful doctors housekeepers dietary nurses anyone I encounter was lovely amazing place to be thank y’all for the amazing service yall provide and for saving lives and inspiring hope God Bless Y’all ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

  • Kindra Thacker

Fast intake into the ER! Triage to ER room in less than 5 minutes. CT scans, x rays, EKG, COVID test, bloodwork, etc all done within 2.5 hours. Nurses are incredibly kind, even when patients are being irritable and not as kind. Hands down best hospital experience I’ve ever had.

  • Christine Costa Conigliaro

I have had 2 back Surgeries here My son has has had Open Heart Surgery here & other Procedures . The Heart Surgeon transferred to Washington in September of 22. I’m very hopeful another Heart Surgeon can fill his shoes. His Cardiologist is here. We have been with him for years.

  • Leah

The worst hospital. Would not recommend anyone to go here. The nurses do not care about their patients and you’ll end up having to take care of your loved ones yourself. The doctors rarely come in to see their patients and when they do they don’t do anything helpful anyways.

  • Valerie Hector

Went to the location in Katy a few times and the staff get five stars because they were so professional and so very helpful. The doctors were constantly checking in and the nurses were present at all times, no matter the time of day or night. Great customer service.

  • C Fam

After 3 full months there in 2019 for the spinal chord injury of a loved one, I have nothing but PRAISE for your staff! Prior to leaving I wrote several thank you cards and a recommendation for the nursing award. Excellent ICU! Simply the BEST! God Bless!!!

  • Kimberly Carmouche

Absolutely horrendous experience at this hospital. Was dismissed and ignored as I seized for hours. I would absolutely not recommend this hospital to anyone. Avoid this place at all costs. This is coming from someone who has worked in healthcare for years.

  • Linda Goode

They have saved my life and I never had any issues; room was cleaned every day my bed was changed every day. Everything was always fresh and clean ; nurse were wonderful and nurturing. This hospital is the best in the world. Doctors are absolutely amazing.

  • Earline Jones

They ate a spiritual hospital, caring people, nice and kind. They will help you when you need help and they listen to your problems. I love them and there Doctors are excellent. I wouldn't go anywhere else. Thank you for taking good care of me when I go.

  • J

all i know is the woman in the auxiliary gift shop ( Maribel i think WA HER NAME) was so nice, SHE DELIVERED SOME BALLONS WHILE HE WAS SICK AT THE HOSPITAL, SHE WENT OUT OF HER WAY AND i CANT SAY HOW MUCH THAT MENT TO ME AND MY SON WHO GOT THE GIFT!

  • Bill Darnall

My dad is in the Walter tower, on the neurological floor. The staff is unbelievably friendly, and the care is beyond excellent. They're taking great care of my mom who is staying in the room with him, I wouldn't want my parents to be anywhere else.

  • Herbert Chiles

Been here since 9:10 did not get checked in until after 10. It is now 2:30 and I am still waiting on a room. This is the only hospital my doctor uses or I would of walked out. I would not suggest this hospital to anyone that needs help right away.

  • Tena Hansen

They are HORRIBLE !!!!! Don't waste your time let alone money here. Sugarland hospital staffing is more professional the nurses have NOcompassion for these patients! One star is a complement as for as I am concerned. They deserve none!

  • jennifer blacconeri

Love the neurosurgery dept of this hospital and dr Hoang who took great care of my mom They are always so attentive to patients needs Even after her surgery they didn't have a room for her but cleared her to go to another tower

  • Nneka Uwajeh

Quality of care and service is highly, highly dependent on the specialty you’re seeing here. Their oncology is good and absolutely the best place to go for general care. Truly amazing teams and the best doctors sometimes.

  • Marquis

Welcome to Houston! staff at Methodist is nice, friendly, and helpful but for a hospital, I would expect better pest control measures to keep things sanitary especially when on one of the highest floors of the building.

  • Francisco Estrada

The nurses here are so bad. My sister was asking for her pain medication which was supposed to be put at 4 pm. As i type this the time is now 5:08. my sister has been in pain for over an hour. get a better staff

  • just another human

I receive phenomenal care here. Dr. Maddox is an amazingly thorough, patient and knowledgeable doctor. All of the staff is usually very friendly and they make it easy to get in and see specialists when needed.

  • Creative Minds

Hospital charges for my surgery more than 10,7000 but after surgery they didn’t give any necessary home things like deep breathing pump or extra even they discharge me same day. They doing hurry to discharge

  • Lea Flores

Firing staff for exposing the truth about how your hospital conducted business when it came to profiting off of the sick people due to covid is mind blowing... This hospital should be burned to the grown

  • Lawrence McCullough

I love this hospital. You always take great care of me. Most of my support team is associated with your facilities. Your nurses and doctors are top notch and always caring and compassionate. Thank you.

  • Afia Kessewa Stokes

My worst experience in a hospital. You call a nurse and it takes 2 hours. A nurse come to work in the morning and complains he is tired at 8 am. I had no update about my care. Very horrible experience.

  • Paul Deaton

Houston Methodist Scurlock Tower The Medical Center is near Rice University and Main Street Houston. Wheelchair accessible and friendly. The valet parking staff was exceptionally helpful yesterday.

  • Jim Kimbrell

I wonder how it is that there are so many bad reviews of hospitals. I know you can’t please everyone. I sometimes think hospitals are not well managed. I have had a few poor experiences in the ER.

  • Juanita

Nice hospital I took my sister to an appointment for a Radiology exam, kind staff .Awesome nurses great doctors took good care of my sister . I valet parked and I stayed over 3 hrs cost was $15.
