The care that Lake Lawn gives is absolutely unmatched. My family tomb is at Lake Lawn, but I wanted to shop around because I’m 25 and I don’t exactly have a large amount of funds for my dads services. I did a lot of research before deciding which funeral home and crematorium to use but everything came back to Lake Lawn. When I say everything came back to Lake Lawn, I mean no one else showed the patience, sympathy and knowledge that Lake Lawn did. I had waited for my meeting and was under the impression that would be the time I would see my dads body for the last time. They told me I would need to make another appointment and you could see my face turn white. I had a flight to catch the next morning back to my home in California. I was distraught I’d never see my dad again. They excused themselves and pulled strings to make sure I could see my dad that day. They even sent me personalized notes to my home in California and sent me a large laminated finger print of his. I still have it on my fridge. Tiffany - I want to give you the biggest thank you. You really went above and beyond for me when I was lost. When it comes down to it, no one knows how to navigate such an enormous loss but I thank you for helping me during that time.

Years ago my parents had the foresight to attempt proper planning for this unexpected life event. In the 70's my parents bought a crypt and then some 20 years later paid for the opening through Lake Lawn's monthly pay plan. The opening contract did indicate the crypt opening contract was for a Monday thru Friday service. They had it all figured out to properly prepare and remove this part of a loved one's loss well in advance. Failure to contact Lake Lawn for a price on opening the crypt on weekends seemed unnecessary. My mother secured the church first when my father passed and then the funeral home. On to Lake Lawn to arrange for a Saturday opening. One can only image what felt like a fallen bomb shell when Lake Lawn charged $800 for a Saturday opening. With arrangements already secured (I.E.- funeral home, obituaries, clergy men, etc), scheduled and New Year's Eve being on a Monday moving this emotional event would have been easier said then done. In my opinion a $800 charge for a Saturday opening is absurd and outrageous. My poor mother in her time of distress was shell shocked and blinded sided with the additional amount of money to be paid out. Buyer Beware!

My experience with Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home was truly outstanding. In an extraordinarily difficult time the Lake Lawn staff made the entire process as smooth as possible. With my wife's death being so sudden and unexpected, and not having had the need to deal with any funeral arrangements for over 20 years, I was completely unprepared for this event. Sharon Galman and the Lake Lawn staff helped me through the process with great care and compassion, from my initial phone call through to the funeral service. They answered every question I had, as well as those I didn't know to ask. The funeral service and final send-off were handled seamlessly, allowing my family and friends to focus on our loss, and not have to worry about any administrative matters. I can not thank Sharon enough for her compassion throughout this most difficult time. And I can not recommend Lake Lawn strenuously enough for anyone wanting their loved one to be cared for in the best possible manner.

Our Mother’s funeral was recently held at Lake Lawn. I can not say enough about the entire staff. We had the good fortune to work with Victoria Jones and Marcia Willoz. They were able to accommodate EVERY request we imagined. Both of them were in attendance the day of the funeral and clearly made the effort to let us know they were there for us. I would also like to thank the ladies that worked the reception desk, and even took the time to remember my name, and the ladies that packed up all our belongings. Since we decided to have a quick lunch afterwards, arrangements were made to hold the flowers until we picked them up later in the afternoon, which was extremely helpful. I should not have been surprised by the overwhelming support and service, because we were equally satisfied several years ago when we buried my Dad.

Words will never capture the level of gratitude I have for Guy Poche (the Director responsible for facilitating the burial of my son). As with the loss of any loved one, we face difficult decisions, however when that loved one is your 19 year old son, the level of sadness is unimaginable. Guy was a phenomenal guide through these difficult decisions. He lined his guidance with open arms and a cherished compassion, always knowing exactly what to say and when to say it. My son’s services were beautiful only because there was a constant eye on perfection and making this the most heartfelt celebration of his beautiful life anyone could have wished for. Lake Lawn is where my family members are traditionally put to rest, so it would take an unusual circumstance to point us elsewhere. It was a relief that our choice wasn't taken for granted, and Counselor Kelly Dobson Barrow made that obvious with her personal attentions. Every step of the way was something new for me, but she didn't act as though her responses were routine or my questions a nuisance. She went out of her way to educate, inform, assure and ease the way. Indeed, it was like having a member of the family accompany me through this most important experience of burying my father. She facilitated the inclusion of my mother's and brother's ashes also, so the closure for my family was more complete than I ever could have expected.

We have been clients of Lake Lawn over the years, as recently as 3 years ago. Everything and everyone were lovely. Our mothers final resting place is secure. We are very grateful of the care they took of our mother. We felt confident in their skills and process. Our one uneasy takeaway was the disconnect at times as to what decisions were made and what was paid for. It is overwhelming enough to click through PowerPoint slides of decisions only to be asked if we have this or that to follow. This should be something the attendants provide to each other and are well versed in at all times, not to rely on the grieving family. We are happy to provide details to improve the experience.

We recently walked through the absolute worst thing that could happen to parents. We lost our beloved one year old son. Lake Lawn was professional, compassionate, and excellent in their services. Because of his age, they offered a 90% discount on everything. They even did a lot of extra things free of charge. We were truly blown away. The cost of everything loomed in my mind amidst all the immense grief. Through their loving service of us, this was removed. I cannot begin to thank them enough. I would wholeheartedly recommend this funeral home to your family. You will be taken care of with love, dignity, and respect.

When I went to lake lawn I had no idea what I wanted to do with my baby boy but the staff and Daryl was so helpful it was very easy for me to deal with the situation that had went on you feel loved they understand what you're going through I went to another funeral home I won't say any names but they referred my son as the corpse and I just didn't want my child to be buried with somebody that refers my child as the corpse the body no when I went to lake lawn they said your loved one your child your baby that's was the main reason I went to lake lawn once I got there everything just fell in place

You must follow up on each stage of your services and internment of your loved one. Lake Lawn lacks professionalism and empathy. Lake Lawn tried to cancel a funeral which had already been paid for and scheduled because Lake Lawn forgot, after having had 10 days notice, to get the necessary burial consents and then, the afternoon before the funeral, notified us the funeral would have to be cancelled. Meanwhile, relatives were travelling in from out of town for the funeral. Fortunately, despite the stress caused, after appeals to top management, we were finally able to hold the funeral on time.

Lake Lawn did a fine job with my Grandparents and Mother's funeral arrangements. The level of service that we have been receiving since Dad's passing has been terrible. Guy Poche never communicated with our family the days that he took off work or had initiative to delegate to another Funeral Director to keep the process moving. It has almost been two week's since my Dad's death. Good communication goes a long way. We still have space in my family's crypt. I am just not certain if we are going to use Lake Lawn's services again... Truly disappointed.

This place is just amazing. At first I figured it was just overrated because of some of the famous people located here, but that is NOT the case. The history, the art, the variety, just so darn much to see. Definitely worth your time. Unfortunately, the convenient entrance on Google Maps for pedestrians is closed, and it's a bit of an adventure to walk to the main entrance unless you can just jump the fence as a nice man sitting nearby advised. If you don't have a car and aren't on a tour, might be worth doing rideshare or taxi to get in/out.

Utterly incredible. Largely expansive with rows upon rows of crypts and mausoleums, almost endlessly extending across the grounds. One can easily get lost here as I was trying to help someone find the right "avenue" for her to deliver flowers. Many of the "street signs" are knocked down making navigation confusing unless you're walking around exploring. A timeless cemetery where money can buy you a small "home" even in the afterlife. Many beautiful things to behold here.

Lake Lawn handled the arrangements for my Dad with total compassion and care. Every question and concern were handled positively and in a ttally professional manner. Each staff member we encountered could not have been more pleasant and accommodating. While losing a loved one is difficult, the way Lake Lawn handled myself and my two brothers in organizing Dad's arrangements was exceptional. Thank you all so very much in helping ease the pain of this loss.

I don't know if they deserve 3 stars. Trying to get them to return phone calls after leaving voicemail is futile. Another thing is going over to the funeral home to talk over a matter and saying they will get in touch in a couple of days, it now has been a week. This a new review after what I posted. Claire told me that I give her my contact information that she would get in touch with me. She never did.

Working with Guy Poche made this incredibly stressful time in our life easier to navigate through. He was compassionate and comforting throughout the planning process. Kailyn Milliet worked with us the day of the funeral and she was equally outstanding. They were both so helpful and every detail, no matter how small, was addressed for us. We would recommend Lake Lawn to our friends and family.

Death of a loved one is never easy, but Lake Lawn was there to make the process easier. My husband and I did have pre arranged funeral plans, which I strongly reccomend.There was paperwork and a few other decisions that had to be made before my husband's service. Everyone at Lake Lawn was so supportive and kind. The service was beautiful and we received compliments from family and friends.

Our experience was exceptional. Everyone we dealt with were professional, caring, respectful, understanding, friendly, honest and knowledgeable of all of our needs. While the service for my wife was nice, the communication and feedback from the funeral home was horrific. Even to the point that they called a month after the funeral and asked to speak to my wife, the person they buried with the service. Trying to get status on the markings on her grave has been atrocious. It’s very disappointing considering the amount of money paid.

These people are some of the least helpfull people you will ever deal with. They are massively upcharging and taking advantage of grieving people. At all costs you should avoid these scam artists. They are incredibly rude and the last people you will want to deal with after the death of a loved one. Please do yourself a favor and take your buisness else where.

Great experience from the initial contact with planning and on to the day of the service friendly staff so accommodating with everything. The whole ordeal felt so much better with such an accommodating staff made everyone feel so much better and were constantly checking to see to our needs. The respect they gave our family member for viewing prior to cremation was extraordinary. Finally got to do a tour here and it was amazing. So much history and the mausoleums were so detailed and beautiful. Easy to get to on the canal streetcar and walk to the cemetery. The employee s we met were so friendly and helpful. The lawns are really well kept. Could spend the whole day learning about the history buried there.

The funeral director Torin was unfriendly, cold and distant upon our arrival. He never greeted me nor my grieving family. The sad part is I paid them for a negative experience on top of losing my mother. If I had a choice I would have said for get it and brought her where people respect doing business with minority.

I was just in New Orleans for the day and tried to visit St. Louis cemetery number one. I was told I would have to join a tour and pay $25. Luckily somebody recommended visiting Metairie. I was able to drive through, see some of older tombs and take some pictures. Very peaceful.

My Mother passed away during the COVID-19 pandemic. Options for services and her burial were limited as a result. Nonetheless, the staff at Lake Lawn did everything reasonably possible to make certain that all arrangements went well.

This can be a personal experience, but you need to ask a lot of questions and think ahead. Understandably it is difficult to do when you are grieving. Try to stay on top of what the staff is doing on your behalf for your loved one.
